Okk imagine for some reason or other Damian suggested Bruce and him take the subway for the parents meet for a change of pace and while they are waiting there they are met with Clark along with Jon in his arms who was blowing bubbles and on their way to new gotham museum. Clark and Bruce exchanged pleasantries and waited in silence until Jon spoke " Damian do u also wanna blow some bubbles?" with a gleaming smile. Damian, feeling flustered for being caught having interest in 'childish things', looked away and shook his head in denial. Bruce sighed and before he could say anything Clark has already picked Damian up in another arm and spoke "It's okay to let yourself relish things for a change of pace" as he softly smiled while Jon taught Damian how to blow bubbles. Jon told Damian to simply blow in the bubble wand and Damian being novice to it blew too hard into it, leading to soap solution being splattered. Clark cooed at the scene and tried to stifle a laugh just like Bruce whose eyes were shining in endearment. Damian poutes at the failed attempt, again Jon told him to blow slowly into the wand and demonstrated how to do it. Determined to blow his first bubble perfectly he took a deep breath and blew into the bubble wand slowly and steadily. And there it is world's most perfect bubble floating around, happy at his achievement he pointed at bubble while looking at Bruce and goes “ Did you see that? Did you see that dad? I did it!! ”. Bruce trying hard not to cry, proudly nods at his son's achievement and happiness. He doesn't know why but something about the scene warmed Bruce, that even he ended up genuinely smiling at them. He looked at how love of his life which Bruce would never admit to look like while hyping the boys for a bubble competition. Flash . All three looked at Bruce with a look of confusion when Clark squinted his eyes accusingly "you took a photo of us, didn't you?". Bruce looked away while mumbling a small 'no' a habit of his when caught lying as he silently kept his phone away. Jon chimed in gleefully with a "Show us, show us" along with the other two joining him. And there it was a photo of everyone's faces squished together trying to take a peek of the photo on the front page of every newspaper known to man with headlines 'Bruce wayne's secret lover? ' with a tiny sub heading 'Did the Gotham vigilante finally bite the dust? '
#alfred thought he was nearing end when he saw bruce smiling at his phone#bruce woke up next day with an amused alfred with an 'i approve it' look#he didn't understood it until he looked at the breakfast tray and boom there it is#front page of the newspaper being Clark and bruce squished together while the children squished next to each of their face#bruce tries to hide a smile but ofc nothing escapes alfred#bruce asked alfred to get the actual photos which he is more then happy to oblige#and clark is given simba treatment by daily planet#next time when they met bruce jokingly refered clark as clark Wayne and he responded with i was always yours bruce with a wink#superbat#superman x batman#superman#batman#jonathan kent#damian wayne#fluff#alfred pennyworth#bruce wayne#clark kent#bubbles#cute#dc comics#my dumb stuff

What is the gameplay like on Gotham Knights? I have poor coordination so I have trouble with anything more complex than LOZ: Ocarina of Time. Like, on a scale of Pokémon->Dragon Age->LOZ->Dark Souls?
It's a bit clunky like Dragon Age 2, tbh. Except it doesn't have the excuse of coming out in 2011. The mechanics and camera controls are one of the things that let it down a lot, IMO.
I’m constantly getting stuck on walls and the edge of ledges because the controls feel laggy and the game’s not consistent about which surfaces you can climb and which ones you need to grapple. It's fine if you’re fighting in more open spaces but it turns the timed events into an exercise in frustration. Not to mention the number of times it feels like I’ve taken damage through an obstacle from enemy ranged attacks when my own ranged attacks bounce off invisible walls if I’m not standing in the exact spot the game needs me to be in. This results in me just key smashing melee a lot until every around me stops twitching.
I’m still enjoying it, but it is v. glitchy and I understand why people are leaving angry reviews. Especially if they are deeply committed to the immersive elements and were expecting the same level of polish from the Arkham games, which this studio also made.
I’m just casual enough a gamer that I’m enjoying muttering “parkour” to myself as I accidentally fall off buildings and plumet to my death because my graple hook glitched out and went the exact opposite way I’d been aiming.
I’m really just playing it for the characters. It feels like playing a a game written by people who understand the appeal of found family that went hard on the campier elements of the franchise while still maintaining a decent level of aching sadness for the tragedy they’ve endured.
You can feel the group fracturing under the weight of Bruce’s death with Dick doing everything he can to fill the void and stay positive and “normal” for the sake of everyone around him, including Alfred who is devastated but also trying to keep it together. Barbara, mourning an extra loss, is trying so hard to stay level headed and useful for Dick. Being both Oracle and Batgirl while also acting like a fun big sister to Tim who stands out as really young in this iteration.
Sure he’s a kid genius, but he’s also only 16 with a monumental caffeine addiction (you can’t tell me all the energy drinks on the shopping list pinned to the fridge aren’t for him) and mourning the loss of Bruce while also just wanting to do normal teenage shit, like asking the group for help with his art homework and being annoyed that his role as Robin is keeping him from spending time with his online boyfriend.
Jay is very raw and angry and obviously processing his own trauma on top of everything that just happened but even he steps up, trying to be there for Tim, teaming up with Babs to gently pick on Dick when he’s being particularly Boy Wonder-ish. Seeing him stress cook is also a nice added touch as are the photos of him and Bruce working on stuff. Bonding.
Which is another thing I Love. From what we see of him, Bruce is in his absolute DILF element in flashbacks and in recordings. All sad smiles and a gentle, head-shaking tolerance for the absolute ribbing the kids put him through for being too serious and neglecting himself. Not to mention all the pictures of him with Dick and Tim and Jason. And so many of him and Alfred and Ace. (The one on the fridge of him and Alfred showing them adopting Dick at the courthouse almost killed me. They all looked so young and happy.)
I’m getting serious “Bruce is a good dad with a warped sense of humor who hugs his kids and spends quality time with them, actually, and you’re wrong if you write him otherwise” fanon vibes, and that's honestly my favorite Bruce.
It’s basically appealing to everything I love about the franchise while scratching an itch in my brain the way crackfic taken seriously does.
And that’s enough to make me forgive the bad controls and glitches. But I could see it not being enough for some people, especially if you’ve already got poor hand eye coordination. Which I do. But again, I don’t really care about being good at games. I’m just dicking around and having fun wringing dopamine out of the narrative.

♡ prompt: you’re going to a chistmas party with your ex in attendance and you try to find a replacement as quick as possible.
♡ song suggestion: HIP - MAMAMOO
♡ pairing: jon kent (superboy) x fem! reader
♡ note: not checked for grammar or spelling mistakes
“i can’t just go to this party and not show up with a date, do you know how humiliating that is?” you exclaimed to Damian, chugging back the last bit of wine you had in your glass, “it’s easy for you to show up like that because you’re fucking Bruce Wayne’s son and you aren’t the one who actually lied here...I DID!”
Damian saw the panic arising in your eyes as you tried to come up with just anything to get out of the Wayne Christmas party but nothing was coming up in order to actually get you out of it. it was too late to actually back out and you swore to Damian you’d attend the party so it wouldn’t be so miserable for him.
“who exactly did you lie to that you’re that deep into a lie?” Damian asked, kicking his legs up on his desk. “Michael from human resources! he’s been up my ass about taking me out that i finally broke one day and said I was already in a relationship and while he did back off, he’s expecting me to bring a date,” you confessed.
Damian started laughing again, not knowing whether to fire Michael to finally put you out of your misery or actually take the opportunity to make you meet his oh so single best friend...Jon Kent. he sat on the idea for a few minutes as you ran your fingers through your hair nervously.
“good lord, if I bring a friend of mine as your date, will you be quiet?” you looked at him in confusion. “you have friends?” you laughed, instantly dodging his wad of paper.
“for your information, I actually do,” you sighed, not really knowing if you wanted to take him up on the offer, “he’s a friend of mine from Metropolis. he’ll say yes, it’s up to you,” you cautiously agreed, threatening him that if his so called ‘friend’ ended up being some creep, you were within your rights to hurt him.
as you and Damian exited the building, you saw the copious amounts of reporters standing to the side, trying to capture photos of Damian or getting information on the party for tomorrow.
you sighed, giving the reporters the middle finger, not really in the mood to deal with their bs. there were a few times those nosey reporters had made stories about you and Damian. claiming that you were sleeping with him so you could get closer to the Wayne family heir. it didn’t exactly help that you were in the assistant and secretary role as well.
“wow, feisty aren’t you?” you heard Damian’s eldest brother, Dick, say out of no where. you quickly greeted him, seeing that the street to get out of Wayne Enterprises was getting clogged up with traffic, “see all of you tomorrow! Damian, don’t let me down!”
Dick looked over to his brother, wondering what you meant by that. “I’m bringing Jon as her date for tomorrow,” he explained. his eyes widened, “really? him?” he asked, surprised that he would even set up a date for someone. “yeah, he has way too much time on his hands and it’d be better for me to set those two up to finally get them out of my hair.” Dick laughed knowing exactly where that could go wrong.
+
the morning finally came, much to your unamused pleasure. you had told Damian that you’d meet him at his place so if anything funny happened with his date, it wouldn’t happen to your embarrassment at your work place. you were not sure who your mystery date was and Damian refused to give you a name. all he had told you was that he worked in Metropolis and had been his friend for years.
you dragged yourself into the shower and unwillingly got dressed. your makeup was the hardest part of the entire outfit as you were going to try and perfect it as much as possible. you had never really gone all out with the makeup in what felt like years so you figured today would be the day.
“almost ready?” Damian asked over the phone. you rolled your eyes, “yeah, i’m just pulling my shoes on before heading over to your place,” you responded as you munched on a granola bar, “why do you care?” you asked.
you heard two voices laugh, “because your date is here so hurry up!” Damian exclaimed before hanging up the phone. you didn’t bother to play into his antics before finishing up. the dress you had bought was something you had from a previous event and up until now, you hadn’t worn it again.
the dress you had picked was one from a previous event that no one hardly saw. it hugged the curves you wanted to show and you knew it would surprise those who hardly saw you gala or formal party attire.
you got into your car and chugged back a red bull before heading into Damian’s home. you saw a few cars parked in his garage along with a limo to which you assumed you and a few others were going to take. you annoyingly pushed the doorbell to strike a nerve in Damian.
“woah,” you heard Dick say as he opened the door, “I know, I look good,” you said smiling. he nodded in agreement as the two of you walked in farther into the house. you could tell Dick kept looking at you every so often and even dropping a few compliments and pick up lines.
as the two of you were walking, you hadn’t realized you had completely passed Damian and his friend. you were so enamored with your conversation with Dick that it wasn’t until Damian half-annoyed screamed your name out to catch your attention. you turned around and stopped mid way through when you saw Damian and his friend.
“oh hey,” you whispered, not wanting to look at Damian’s friend in the eye. he was a lot more attractive than you had anticipated. “didn’t know you could actually clean up nicely,” Damian murmured, not even hiding the fact that he was checking you out.
you gave him the middle finger in response, “this is Jon Kent, Jon, this is ( your name ), I guess she’s my friend,” he rolled his eyes at the last thing he had said. you slowly stuck your hand out to shake but much to your surprise, Jon had shook your hand rather excitedly.
“nice to meet ya!” he exclaimed, his slight southern drawl coming out. you laughed at his excited tone, “heard a lot about ya!” he continued. you looked at Damian, “aww, you do like me!” you said, a mischievous smile appearing on your face.
Damian kicked you in the back of the leg before murmuring that all of you needed to head out before any of you got into trouble for being late. you met up with Dick and Tim who were arguing about something as the three of you waited for Alfred to pull up with the car.
the entire ride to the venue, it was just you and Jon talking here and there. you could tell that Jon was the very exact opposite of Damian and it was a wonder how him and Damian even got along with their personalities being the exact opposite from each other. once the car came to halt, all of you piled out, the cameras immediately snapping as they realized the Wayne’s have arrived.
“don’t kill them this time,” Damian threatened you as you put up your hands in defense. you looked over to Jon and gave him a small nervous smile, “ready?” he asked as you nodded.
he put his arm around your waist, tightening it as the two of you walked up to the red carpet. you smiled fakely to the cameras. Jon looked down at you, not expecting this reaction to the paparazzi. “not a fan, eh?” he asked. you shook your head no, “god knows how many times those idiots have thought that Damian and I were together.”
Jon gave you a look, “but the two of you are like siblings?” you shook your head, “I know but they think we’re hiding behind all of that.” the two of you reached inside of the building to see the long extended tables as you and Jon were seated on a two chaired table.
Jon pulled your chair out, making sure you were comfortable before sitting down across from you. the menu was pre filled as it was your job to make sure everything on it was correct and put everything they were going to serve for the course of the night.
“so, what do you for a living in Metropolis?” you asked as they put small appetizers in front of you. Jon smiled, “I work for the newspaper,” he replied, “I bet it’s tough to be Damian’s assistant, huh?” he asked as you nodded yes, dramatically.
through the course of the night, you and Jon talked, Jon making sure the conversation never died down. you had to give Damian credit. you weren’t exactly trustful in Damian that he would pull through on his blind date for you but Jon up till this point had not made you seem uncomfortable or even slightly creeped out. he was like the perfect gentleman.
“wanna dance?” Jon asked, getting up from his chair and grabbing your hand softly. you held his hand, giving it a squeeze as a response.
the two of you walked to the small dance floor as you saw a few of your coworkers, those who were either married or in long term relationships dancing. you gave them a wave as they waved back before going back to their conversations with their partners.
“I’m glad you came,” you told Jon as you took a sip of your champagne shyly. he looked down to you and grinned, “I’m glad I did too. I wasn’t going too originally but once Damian told me a bit about you, I just knew I had to meet you,” he replied as you hid your face in his shoulder, slightly embarrassed.
the song playing in the background happened to be a piano rendition of ‘Someday My Prince Will Come’. you had watched Snow White a million times as a child and the fact that this song was playing as you were dancing with someone who you hoped would give you a second date made your heart swell.
“I have to admit, I’m glad I told Damian as well. the date was so last minute and honestly, Damian is the last person I would ever trust to put me in a blind date situation but I’m happy that he actually pulled through for once.”
Jon laughed as he bent down a bit and kissed your cheek in response. you noticed that the more nervous Jon got, the more his slight southern accent would come out. you reciprocated the kiss but this time, you kissed him on the lips. he was taken by surprise but nevertheless, he returned it. this time deepening it a bit.
after the two of you danced a few more songs, you took a break as Jon excused himself to the bathroom and you made a beeline to the bar to refill your glass along with Jon’s.
“hey there gorgeous,” you heard the voice from the last person you wanted to see. you turned to Michael and gave him a tight lipped smile, “good evening Michael,” you responded, trying to get back to getting your drinks. “I saw you with your little boyfriend earlier but I knew I had to come over here and tell you how fine you looked.”
you felt yourself wanting to gag by what he was saying as you felt him grab your wrist, “since your boyfriend isn’t around, how about you give me a little dance,” he asked. just as you were about to response, you felt Jon’s presence behind you, “who’s this, baby?” he asked, staring down at Michael.
to Jon’s credit, he was towering over Michael. “no one,” you replied, shaking yourself off of him, “hiya! I’m Jon, ( your names ) boyfriend. you are?” he asked. Michael scoffed, half scared at how Jon was looming over him, “I’m her coworker,” he replied before leaving.
you look to Jon in relief, “thank you so much,” you said. he smiled, putting his arm around your waist, “no problem, isn’t that what I’m here for?” he asked with a smile on his face. without actually realizing what you were doing, you happened to snuggle closer to Jon as you saw Damian approaching the two of you.
throughout the rest of the night, you kept yourself to Jon’s side as you remained with Damian and a few others. every time you left, Jon made sure that once you returned, he always had his arm around your waist or shoulder. Jon’s grasp was firm and even slightly possessive but you did not mind it one bit.
if you were being honest, you were hoping that at some point in the future, the two of you would get farther than that but for the moment, you enjoyed being in his grasp.

Lovestruck - fic
Characters: Tim Drake, Damian Wayne, Jason Todd, kinda Dick Pairings: future!jondami, implied-kinda?timkon, also timbernard Summary: Damian starts acting weird after Tim and Bernard begin dating. Turns out even this kid can be naive, and a total idiot, when he wants to be. A/N: idk a headcanon I couldn’t stop thinking about haha. Damian is absolutely one of those genius kids who don’t know the most basic things. Also if it’s not clear, Damian is comparing Tim’s answers to what he likes in people to if they match Conner. all ages are current canon so Tim is immortal and Damian is 14 mkay bye.
~~
When Tim started dating Bernard, he expected a lot of different things. He expected Bruce’s protectiveness, Dick’s softness, Jason’s gift of XL condoms, Cassandra’s date suggestions and even Stephanie’s own prepared shovel talks for his new paramour.
But he did not expect…well, this.
He did not expect to see Damian sitting on the front porch when Bernard brought him home from their third date. He did not expect Damian to start furiously writing in the notebook on his lap at the sight of them.
He did not expect to come down to breakfast and see the kitchen table scattered with notes and lists and images of way too pretty people, pictures of Bernard and Steph among them.
“…What are you doing?” Tim found himself asking sleepily.
“Research.” Damian replied simply, sipping thoughtfully from a mug on the island. “None of your concern.”
“Oh yeah?” Tim asked as he approached. Instantly he tapped the photos of Steph and Bernard. “So why are there pictures of my ex-girlfriend and current…boyfriend here?”
His stomach still did giddy jumps at the thought.
Damian’s lips twitched, like he’d been caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Then he reached out and slid the photos underneath some papers. “Just…persons of interests.”
“For?”
“None of your concern.” Damian reiterated. Quickly, he began to shuffle all of his papers and pictures together. “Jeez, what does that Dowd boy even see in you…”
And then he was gone before Tim’s pre-caffeine mind could catch up.
After that, Damian was less obvious, but Tim could still catch on. In fact, everyone was catching on. But, like the emotionally constipated Bats they were, no one said anything, or tipped their youngest off.
They all just watched, as he suddenly began to distantly follow Tim around. Around the house, around the city, both as a civilian and in uniform. It was Cassandra who declared that Damian was watching who Tim was interacting with, not necessarily him.
He never followed him on his dates, though.
Then came the questions. Every time they were together. They’d go to lunch downtown near the office, and Damian would ask:
“Do you like that girl’s hair?”
“Would you ever wear those shoes?”
“How much do you respect a person if their suit jacket doesn’t fit them properly?”
When they’d be staking out a suspect on a building overlooking a street corner, he’d say:
“That belt is too gaudy.”
“You can tell he spent way too many hours in the mirror getting ready to go to that disgusting dive.”
“I can’t believe she’s walking on this street in those heels. Would you go for comfort or fashion?”
And it continued, the following, the seemingly random questions. After a while, Tim chalked it up to…maybe Damian was just getting to know him. Just trying to actually get along for once in their lives. They were both getting older, more mature. Maybe it was just time they started acting like what they were.
Brothers.
But then he came home one afternoon to find Dick standing in the manor’s foyer, back leaning against the wall that led into the central sitting room they all used. It was almost evening, which meant Damian was most likely in there sketching, or reading with his pets.
Dick noticed him open the door, and quickly put a finger to his smiling lips. Tim nodded and silently closed the door behind him, carefully took off his shoes and jacket, then tiptoed over to Dick.
He peeked around Dick’s shoulder. Sure enough, Damian was in there, but he was standing at the fireplace, staring down into the flames.
Jason sat in the loveseat behind him.
“Jay just got in there. He hasn’t said anything yet.” Dick breathed. Tim frowned skeptically. Surely Damian knew who was in the house. Knew there was something going on if Jason had just sought him out.
“What are we interrogating him for?” Tim whispered back. “Did he lose one of Alfred’s recipe books again?”
Dick just shook his head and pointed into the room. Tim looked back in.
Jason was relaxed in the chair, but staring intensely at his youngest brother. Damian must have known that, felt his eyes, because he wasn’t looking up. Kept his gaze glued to the fire at his feet.
Suddenly, Jason huffed, crossing his arms. “Spill.”
“Spill what.” Damian rolled his eyes.
“Spill why you’re stalking Tim.” Jason said bluntly. “Why you’re asking him all those dumbass questions.” A pause. “…Why you’re keeping tabs on his boyfriend.”
Tim inhaled sharply, glaring up at Dick. Dick waved both his arms quickly, implying that Jason’s words weren’t true, that it was just to catch Damian off guard.
“I’m not keeping tabs on him, Todd. That’s ridiculous.” Damian countered. “I’m merely making sure they’re still together.”
A moment to let the fire crackle.
“Well, I’m also making sure that boy isn’t hurting or manipulating Drake in some way.” Damian murmured softly. “But mostly, I’m just making sure they’re still together.”
Jason crossed his ankle over his knee. “Why?”
“What, I can’t be concerned for my brother’s safety and happiness?”
Jason snorted. “Not that brother’s.”
Damian glanced over his shoulder and narrowed his eyes. Then back to the fire.
Jason waited a minute, let his eyes dart across Damian’s back, study his posture. “…Why are you so concerned if Tim and his new boy-toy are still together?”
Damian shrugged silently.
“Don’t do that.” Jason scolded. “Use your words, Damian. Like a big boy.”
Damian let out a frustrated exhale. “I’m just…confirming Drake isn’t looking elsewhere.”
“What, to cheat on his boyfriend?” Jason drawled. “Timmy’s not the cheating type, I can tell.”
“No. No.” Damian said sternly. “That’s not what I’m saying.”
“Then what are you saying?”
“I’m saying!” Damian threw his arms out. Let them fall back to his thighs with a slight smack. “…I’m saying I’ve seen him look at others the way he looks at Bernard Dowd and that is…concerning. …To me.”
“Others?” Jason questioned. “What others?”
“Like Conner Kent!” Damian finally spun around now. Jason’s eyebrows rose in surprise and Damian rolled his eyes again. “Oh don’t tell me you don’t see it. Those two have been flirting with each other since the damn day they met. Drake dating this boy now only confirms the possibility of their eventual coupling.”
Jason let his face settle back into neutral, let the words bounce around in his brain. “Okay…I guess I can agree with that.”
Tim glanced up at Dick, who gave him a wink. Tim’s face instantly went beet red.
“But that still tells me nothing.” Jason continued. “So Tim and Conner maybe had or have crushes on each other. Maybe they’re attracted to each other. Maybe they’re forever star-crossed and nothing will ever happen. So what? Why does that bother you?”
Damian kept his lips pressed firmly together. After a moment, he spun back towards the fire.
“…Damian?”
“…Because it would be weird.” Damian said at last. “It would be weird if he and Conner…”
Damian’s voice fell to an unintelligible mumble.
“What?” Jason asked gently. “I didn’t catch that.”
Damian mumbled again, still impossible to understand.
“Kid, you’re gonna have to speak up, okay. I can’t hear you-”
“I said it would be weird if he was dating Conner while I was dating Jon!” Damian yelled, whirling around once more. “And if he breaks up with Dowd and starts dating Conner before I can gain the courage to talk to Jon then I’ll lose my chance!”
His last words echoed in the space around them. Floated into the hallway and echoed up the stairs, too.
Not that anyone noticed. Tim had grabbed Dick’s bicep, while Dick had thrown a hand over his own mouth in surprise.
“Oh my god.” Tim whispered. “Oh my god, oh my god.”
“That…” Dick murmured. “That’s the cutest fucking thing I’ve ever heard in my life.”
Jason, luckily, had more composure than the two of them, and suddenly Tim realized why it was Jason doing the prodding, not Dick.
Jason’s eyes had just widened, no other movement than that. He remained still, remained calm, even as Damian’s face darkened, and embarrassed tears appeared in the corners of his eyes.
“Oh.” He said simply. “Oh, Damian.”
“Shut up.” Damian crossed his arms again, but they all knew this time it was to hold himself. “Don’t…don’t make fun of me.”
“Never.” Jason promised. “But also, not a thing you need to worry about.”
“Why, because Jon will turn me down anyway?” Damian whispered bitterly, turning away. Not towards the fire this time, just the window.
“He’d be an idiot to, and I’ll beat the shit out of him if he does.” Jason said as he uncrossed his legs and leaned his elbows on his knees. “No, I mean, you don’t need to worry about it because it wouldn’t be weird if y’all just so happened to be double-dating.”
Damian waited, then glanced back at Jason. “It wouldn’t?” Jason smiled and shook his head. “There isn’t like…I mean…a law…?” He inhaled slowly. “If Drake and Conner started dating, wouldn’t that make Jonathan and I…related?”
“That’s only if they got married, and even then, wouldn’t be weird.” Jason shrugged. “What, you’ve never heard those stories of like…twins marrying another set of twins? That shit happens all the time. You wouldn’t be the first.”
Damian blinked owlishly, let his hands fall back to his sides. “…Oh.”
“Yeah. Oh.” Jason laughed, standing. “Besides, Tim seems to really like Blondie whats-his-name so…I really don’t think you have anything to worry about.” A second, to cheekily add: “At least…not right now.”
Damian twisted his lips. “I told you their chemistry was obvious.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, so is Bruce and Clark’s if you ask the tabloids and half the Justice League.” Jason droned, reaching out for Damian’s shoulder and tugging him into his side. “But like I said, don’t worry about it. Who cares about your idiot brother and who he’s dating, let’s focus more on you and how you’re gonna woo one Jonathan Kent, mmkay?”
He quickly ushered Damian out of the room using a door on the far side, only glancing back once to mouth oh my god! dramatically to the ones watching from the hall.
“That…” Tim exhaled as Jason closed the door behind them. “…was the most precious thing I think I’ve ever seen.”
Dick hummed in agreement, then: “…But is he right?”
Tim glanced up at him.
“You and Conner?”
Tim felt his face warm a little. “…I’m dating Bernard, Dick.”
“Okay.”
“And…I think I should go call him. We haven’t talked all day.”
Dick smirked. “Okay.”
“…Don’t look at me like that.”
Dick let out a chuckle. “Okay.”
“…Stop saying okay.”
“…Okay.”
“Dick!”
He laughed again. “Sorry, sorry.” He ran his fingers through Tim’s hair. “Tell Bernard I said hello, and also warn him that your younger brother is absolutely ready to gut him, should he hurt you.”
Oh yeah. Tim forgot that little tidbit. He felt his face warm even faster.
“Yeah…” He sighed, turning towards the stairs. He ignored the little flutter in his heart, at the idea of his lovesick, protective, ridiculous little brother. God, that kid. “Yeah, I think that’s probably something he oughta know.”

Taking Chances Ch. 21: Apologies (Father’s Day)
AO3
Prev
Marinette purses her lips as she looks at the neatly wrapped package in her hand. She knew she should still give it to her dad, shouldn’t let her hurt over the Gala stop her from celebrating Father’s Day with him for the first time. She’d already gotten confirmation from her Maman that her present for her Papa had arrived. So that was taken care of. A small part of her, the petty part, wanted to use Kaalki and go back to Paris for Father’s Day. But she also didn’t want to hurt her dad, no matter how much he’d hurt her. She had to be better than that, she is Ladybug after all. Sighing, she drops the present onto her bed. Grabbing the rest of what she needed for a movie night at one of Jason’s safe houses, she rushes out of her room. She knew that her dad’s conversation with Superman in the Batcave wouldn’t last too long, and then he’d be looking for her and Damian to lecture the hell out of them. Unfortunately for him, neither of them planned to be around to listen to it.
“Got everything Pixie Pop?” Jason asks as she rushes down the last of the steps, barely stopping herself from falling. She quickly balances herself and shoots her brother a small grin.
“Yup. Let’s go before I can get grounded.” She says, rushing past him and out the door, grinning as she hears his loud cackles behind her. It will get better. She’d talk to her dad eventually, and shove the bad feelings away. But she was going to let herself mope for another day. After all, letting herself feel negative emotions was part of the reason her parents agreed to let her stay in Gotham for the summer.
---
“What do you mean there’s an entire movie about you and Cat boy?” Jason asks, shoving another cookie in his mouth. Marinette shrugs.
“I mean we have a movie. It’s not my favorite, it’s kind of ridiculous. None of it is accurate. Except, Adrien did voice Chat Noir for the movie...still not sure why he thought that was a good idea.” She says, thinking back to the original premiere of the movie and all of the drama that came with it.
“Well shit. He’s not the brightest kid, is he?” Jason asks with a snort. Marinette opens her mouth to argue, then remembers some of Adrien’s….less brilliant moments. Okay, so maybe he’s not perfect.
“Ya know, we were once cast as Ladybug and Chat Noir in a music video.” She says, snorting at the look on Jason’s face.
“You’ve gotta be kidding. Really? Kid, please tell me you didn’t go through with it.” He says, looking mildly distressed. Marinette just rolls her eyes.
“No, we didn’t. The concept for the video changed and so no more hero costumes. I was terrified though. Kept losing the mask on purpose ‘cause I was convinced the mask would be what gave it away.” She admits with a small laugh.
“Ya know, that’s almost as bad as the time that someone at WE thought it’d be a good idea to enter B in a Batman look alike contest. Sent in his photo and everything.” Jason says with a snort. Marinette’s jaw drops.
“Wait, really?” She asks. He nods.
“Yup. But that’s not the best part.” He says. Her eyebrows furrowed together. What could possibly be better- Oh. No, oh my-
“He lost, didn’t he!” She cheers, laughing at Jason’s huge smile.
“Of course he did! You didn’t really think Brucie Wayne could ever be THE Batman, did you?” He asks with a smirk.
“Who entered him?” Marinette asks, kind of assuming that Jason did it with Tim’s computer.
“No one could ever prove anything, but Lucius Fox couldn’t stop smiling for weeks after it happened.” Jason says.
“No way, Lucius Fox? Oh my god!” She starts laughing again, the negative feelings from earlier almost completely gone. Disappeared. Times like these, she was beyond relieved that she wasn’t an only child anymore. She doesn’t know how she’d ever function again without her brothers and Cass.
---
Bruce takes a deep breath before knocking on Marinette’s door. He’d spent some time talking to Clark in an attempt to calm down. He still couldn’t believe his two youngest children had gone to the Watchtower without permission...well, he could believe that Damian went. But not Marinette. And then there was her attitude towards him at the Tower. Her posture was very Damian, but her words and tone were very much Jason. He couldn’t decide if he was glad that they were bonding, or frustrated with the way his sons were corrupting his daughter. Not hearing an answer on the other side of the door, he knocks again.
“If?” He says. Alfred nods.
“Marinette, I know you’re angry, but shutting yourself away in your room is not the answer. I’ll give you ten more minutes, but then we need to talk about your behavior today.” He says, nodding to himself. That sounded good. That was right, right?
“I’m certain that wouldn’t work on Miss Marinette even if she was in her room, Master Bruce.” Alfred says, giving him an unimpressed look. Bruce’s eye twitches.
“Indeed, sir. It seems that Miss Marinette will not be sleeping at the manor tonight.” He says, turning to walk away.
“And I’m assuming you know where she is?” Bruce says, doubting that Alfred will actually give up her location. He’d definitely been picking the kids’ side the last two weeks or so. It was different, and he wasn’t fond of the change.
“Of course I do, sir.” Alfred says, raising an eyebrow in a silent challenge.
“Will you tell me where she is?” He asks, trying hard not to huff when Alfred shakes his head.
“Of course not, sir.” He says before walking away. Right. So she wasn’t sleeping at the manor, but she was safe. If she wasn’t, Alfred would have told him where she was. He mentally runs through a list of possible places she could be. Dick’s apartment, one of Jason’s safe houses, the Siren’s apartment, Paris- He pales as he realizes that she could definitely be in Paris. Was she really so upset that she would go back to Paris? Would she ever come back if she left? He lets out an uneven breath. He messed up. He messed up and now she was going to go back to Paris and she’d never talk to him again. Unless- maybe she didn’t. Swallowing the guilt that appears at the thought, he pushes her door open. If she had left for Paris, she would’ve taken everything with her. The sight of her clothes and sewing supplies still scattered around the room makes him breathe a sigh of relief. She hadn’t left Not yet. He’s about to walk out when an envelope on her bed catches his eye. Frowning, he walks over and picks it up, ‘Dad’ written on it in neat cursive. Now standing by her bed, he realizes there’s also a neatly wrapped package (Batman wrapping paper) on it. He smiles, then glances back at the envelope. He opens it, smiling at the art on the cardstock. It was clearly Marinette’s art, but he was confused why it was addressed to him.
‘Dad, I just wanted to let you know that I’m so happy you’re my Dad, and I’m so glad that I got to meet you. Finding out that I was adopted was a little scary, but you’ve made sure I’ve been okay through it all. Happy Father’s Day! Love, Marinette’
Bruce blinks. She was scared. If he had to guess, she was most likely scared that the family wouldn’t accept her. They’d been getting along so well, until the Gala mistake. Until he’d decided for her. Assumed she wouldn’t want to go to the Gala. And now she didn’t even want to stay at the manor tonight, and she was angry enough earlier to throw a chair at him. He pushes a hand through his hair, cursing lowly under his breath. He had to fix this.
---
A sharp pounding at the door makes Jason leap off the couch. He holds up a finger and gestures for Marinette to hide. No one should be here. No one else knows which of his safe houses he was at today. Grabbing a gun, he walks over, glancing through the peephole. He scoffs.
“Get the fuck outta here Bruce.” He calls through the door, watching Marinette as she immediately tenses as if she’s gonna run. He shakes his head at her. She didn’t have to run, he sure as hell wouldn’t open the door if she didn’t want him to.
“Jason, open the door. I need to talk to Marinette.” Bruce calls, Jason snorts.
“Yeah, not gonna happen B.” He says.
“I would like to apologize to her.” Bruce says. Jason blinks. That’s new. Did the old man finally figure out that fuck ups warrant apologies? He glances over at Marinette, raising an eyebrow. It was her call. The unsure look on her face almost makes him decide for her. Almost. The kid’d had enough of people deciding shit for her.
“Let him in.” She says. He opens the door, glaring at the man.
“Is it okay if he comes in?” She whispers, and Jason nods.
“Up to you kiddo.” He whispers back. She stands taller, pushing her shoulders back before nodding.
“She’s the one who let you in. Don’t fuck this up.” He warns before stepping aside and letting Bruce walk in.
“Marinette.” He says, nodding at her. Jason groans. Yeah, B was totally gonna fuck this up.
“Father.” She says, shifting so that her arms are crossed, a neutral expression on her face. God, he really hopes her mimicking Demon Spawn is just a phase.
“I would like to preface this conversation by letting you know I went into your room.” Bruce says. Marinette just raises an eyebrow. Yeah, Jason wasn’t seeing the connection either. “I apologize for invading your privacy like that, Damian has definitely reminded me several times that your personal rooms are not to be messed with. However, when Alfred let me know you weren’t sleeping at the manor tonight, I was worried that perhaps you had gone back to Paris.”
“I wouldn’t have gone back without telling you. Well, other than akuma attacks. Do you really think I’d do something like that?” She asks, frowning.
“I know that I’ve done things I’m not proud of when hurt. Things that I came to regret. And I saw earlier today how hurt you actually are. I didn’t realize-” He pauses. “I also read the card that was on your bed.”
“What! No, that was- that was for Father’s Day.” She says with a sigh.
“I didn’t open the gift. I originally thought the envelope would have a note from you on where you had gone. Or that you never wanted to see me again. I thought the chances were pretty even.” He says and Jason snorts.
“Oh, okay. Wait, why would you ever think that? Yes, I was hurt. I still am hurt, if I’m being honest. But I don’t want to cut you out of my life.” She says, shaking her head.
“Nor do I want you out of ours.” Bruce says. Marinette blinks. “I realize now what it must have looked like, to you. Not informing you about the Gala, taking the rest of the family. It was, admittedly, not my best moment. I made a decision for you when I should’ve asked you what you wanted. You could have even come with us as MDC, but I took that option away from you. I am very sorry, Marinette. I am glad that you’re my daughter, sweetheart.” He says and Jason blinks. Well shit. The old man did have feelings. Too bad no one would ever believe him if he tried to say something about it. He watches as the tension in Marinette’s body drops almost instantly before she runs over and launches herself at Bruce. She wraps her arms around him and Jason can see the way her body shakes. Bruce just stands there, staring down at the top of her head in shock.
“You wrap your arms around her.” Jason snarks. Bruce blinks before listening, returning Marinette’s hug. Well, they were still dysfunctional as hell, but at least now he’d be able to take Pixie Pop to the manor without feeling like an asshole brother.
---
Marinette bounces nervously in her seat as she watches her brothers hand her dad presents. She’s shocked when Jason hands over a small gift, knowing that the two’s relationship wasn’t….great. She leans forward in anticipation, watching and waiting to see what he’d picked out.
“Thank you, Jason. Clark will never let me live this down.” Her dad says, the fondness in his tone not matching the frown on his face. He turns the box around and the room erupts in laughter. Somehow, Jason had found a company that made customizable bobbleheads. The body was probably just a stock body, dressed in civilian clothes with a superman suit peaking through the shirt. And the head, the head was hilarious. It was very obviously crafted to look like their dad, specifically with his ‘Brucie Wayne’ smile. It was awful and amazing at the same time.
“I think Jaybird wins best gift.” Dick says with a grin.
“Tt. Unlikely. The new katana that Cass and I gave him is obviously superior.” Damian says, crossing his arms.
“I don’t know Damian, I still haven’t given him my present.” She points out, grinning at the slight frown on Damian’s face.
“While I doubt your present could be better than mine, there is no doubt it will be better received than Todd’s.” Damian says. Marinette snorts at the look on Jason’s face.
“Listen Demon Spawn, there’s this thing called humor. That’s what my gift had. I know you wouldn’t know anything about humor, so let me explain it to you.” He starts, and Marinette jumps in to cut him off before they can start arguing. It was Father’s Day, the least they could do is avoid fighting with each other for a couple more hours.
“And this one’s from me.” She says, passing him the present wrapped in Batman wrapping paper. She grins as Tim and Dick both laugh, not having seen it before now.
“I think Mari might win just ‘cause of the paper.” Tim admits, taking a large drink of his iced coffee that Marinette had picked up for him. She’d had to fight an akuma right before they started presents, so she’d stopped and got Tim coffee from the shop that he’d tried when they’d all been in Paris. She watches in anticipation as her dad carefully unwraps the box, opening it and pulling out the black suit jacket. He smiles at her.
“Did you make this? It’s amazing.” He says, and her brothers nod in agreement (though Damian does so reluctantly).
“Look at the inside of it.” She says, gesturing for him to unfold it. His eyebrow twitches, but he does as she says. She watches his face for the moment he spots it, and grins when his face drops into a wide smile. On the inside of the left side of the jacket, she’d added a breast pocket. It wasn’t really for anything though. Instead, it was so that she could embroider all of his children’s names in a way so that it would rest above his heart. The jacket also had tiny bat logos embroidered at the cuffs of the jacket. The thread was shiny and very dark so that it would barely show up against the black of the jacket. It had to be lit just right to see it, but as he tilted the jacket again, she knew he saw it. It had taken longer than suit jackets normally do for her, but it was because she knew that it had to be perfect. It was, after all, the first piece of clothing she’d made for her dad.
“It’s perfect, Marinette.” He says softly, running a hand over the names. She lets out a sigh of relief before smiling at him. Things were still a little rough, but they were so much better than they’d been the night of the Gala. She was glad that she had stayed, that she hadn’t ran like she had so badly wanted to.

a/n: it’s time for the whole batfam to come together! who’s excited ?!?!? and when I tell y'all this aint even the climax. Also , cannon is what I make it to be. happy readings <3
“Oh come on!” You shout.
Looking down past the sewer grate you can see you phone. It landed with a bit of a splash and you can only imagine it’s filthy. A sewer in Gotham? There is no way you’re getting you phone back.
You’re on a time crunch anyways. So without wasting any more time you open the back car door and hop in. The driver faces the back.
“You alright there?”
No you had lost your phone to killer croc probably. But that was okay. Better your phone than your laptop. You had backed up your stuff like a month ago anyways.
Shaking your head you say, “I’m good.”
The driver turns back with a curt nod. He pulls out of park and drives onto the main road.
And maybe you’d lost a few photos and notes app things. But really how important could they have been if you didn’t want them backed up? You made a mental note to yourself to message Fallon through their Twitter DMs.
It isn’t that long a drive until the city becomes trees and trees and more trees. You have the window crack a bit and even the air out of Gotham City feels different. Untouched by the supervilllans. Not that they don’t live outside of Gotham, and if you had to take a couple of guesses Lex Luthor, who had previous dealings with Raʼs al Ghul, probably has a mansion out here.
Shit, Raʼs might have a mansion out here. He’s been around for so long- too long. That part always irked you. To be alive for that long, the mans emotions had to be devoid and frozen over. People come and go, but Raʼs al Ghul never dies.
-
Bruce greets you along with Alfred at the front door. He gives you a quick once over. You look stressed out and that makes him re-think this decision. inciting you over for some flimsy writing piece on the family.
In reality he just needed something from you. But really it went father than that. Ht wanted to talk to you. Once he saw you at the Gala, the faint memories of your mother started to seep into his conscious thoughts.
You had the same brown eyes. Looking at you, he can’t really tell what of his features you have. If any. A tiny part of him (that was slowly growing) hoped he would see it in time in you.
He invited you in and Alfred took your coat. He could tell the experience was new based on the face you made and the fact that you outright offered to put away your own coat. It was genuine.
Alfred of course hushed you off. Bruce took this time to usher you into the dinning room. It wasn’t diner time, more so lunch. Seven plates were set on the table.
The both of you decided against sitting at the table yet.
“Are you expecting another guest?” you ask.
Bruce looked at the number of plates then back at you.
“My youngest son will be joining us.” Bruce answers.
“You have four sons?”
“You didn’t see the youngest at the Gala, he was occupied.”
You nod your head.
“Oh I also wanted to ask if you were okay with me recording you. I take written notes but taping is like my back-up.” you say.
Bruce agrees instantly and applauds your resourcefulness. He takes you over to the table and shows you where you can place the recorded for optimal sound. It makes you wonder about how he- billionaire of Gotham- would know where to put a recorder that picks up multiple voices.
You let the thought go when you hear footsteps.
Before you know it, in through the door of the dining room comes Tim and Jason. Tim sends you a wave as he takes his seat. His brother on the other hand has other ideas.
Jason walks right up to you.
“I see I was right.” he says.
You scrunch you face in confusion, “About what exactly?”
“To be continued.”
You relax you face when you remember that is the last thing he said to you at the Gala. And you try your best to hide the smile on your face. It was no blush but you have a feeling he was the type to take a mile, given an inch when it comes to woo-ing.
“I’m here for an interview. With your whole family.” you alert him.
He feigns a pained expression, “Oh I thought you were here solely for me.”
Bruce had been watching the discussion between the two of you out of his peripheral. Tim was telling him about some new league activities, paraphrasing because you were in the room.
“I’m not late right?”
In came Dick Grayson. Fallon had told you how cute his face was. They had saw his facial expression when you bumped into him. They said ‘He turned a bit red in the face, eyes wide like a Bambi or something. It was cute.”
You did see him face after you bumped into him and you agreed. It also helped that he was Gotham’s pretty boy.
And so Gotham’s pretty boy was looking at you. In his home- or childhood home, you should note one of those options in the piece.
He walks over to you and Jason.
“Hi, I’m Dick Grayson we met at-” he begins.
“At the gala, I remember. Hi there.” you cut him off and give him your name.
“Wow, what are the chances that you’re the writer for this- what is it an op-ed? Fluff piece?” he asks.
You honestly chuckle at that.
“Wouldn’t you like to know? Trying to get the spotlight?” Jason shot back.
Your eyes darted between the two men as they teased one another.
Bruce was able to reign them in and get them to sit in their seats. Which they took like they were assigned. Jason sat across from Tim, next to Dick. Bruce was stills standing. You made another note to yourself to maybe tease that in your writing.
You took a seat at the end of the table, near the door. You had your questions on file so you didn’t really need to hear yourself on the recording. And you weren’t really planning to go off script too much.
A few seconds later you hear footsteps again. This must be the young one, you thought. And you were right as you watch a little body walk right past you and over to Tim. When he took your seat, you remained perfectly still.
He hadn’t looked in your direction yet.
Bruce cleared his throat before heading over to his seat across from you. He eyed his youngest child. This is what made him finally look at you, and he too went still as a rock.
“You must be the youngest,” you say.
Then you introduce yourself. As if you don’t know that's Damian, Raʼs al Ghul grandson. You know his name. Hell you knew what the top of his head smelled like when he was freshly born.
“Hello, I’m Damian Wayne.”
“That’s actually spelled D-e-m-o-n, for the record.”

Salt-Fic September Day 28: Bankruptcy
Marinette stood outside the now boarded up bakery, in complete shock. Lila had gone way to far. A few weeks ago, she started undermining the bakery to the class. She had told the class that she had gotten a moldy pastry from the bakery. At first, the class hadn’t believed her. Marinette may have been rude to Lila a few times, but Tom and Sabine would never let something like that happen in the bakery.
But then Lila pushed it further. The next day she brought in photographic “proof” of the bad conditions in the bakery. The pictures showed moldy pastries and roaches and other pests crawling around what appeared to be the bakery. The class started to believe Lila about the bakery. They slowly stopped going to the bakery. They also spread the word to their other friends and family about the bakery. Soon everyone that knew the class had heard about the bakery and seen the photos.
Then Lila went even further. She posted the pictures and her fake story online. Then she created other accounts to leave nasty reviews for the bakery with other fake stories and photos. After that, all of Paris had heard the news. Tom and Sabine tried to prove the rumors wrong by inviting health inspectors to come visit. But Lila was one step ahead of them.
While Tom and Sabine were outside greeting the inspector, Lila snuck into the bakery from the side door. She replaced several trays of fresh pastries with some moldy ones she had found in a dumpster. She also released some roaches and rats she had gotten at the pet store. She then fled from the bakery before Tom and Sabine came inside again. When they brought the inspector into the bakery, Tom and Sabine were horrified. They tried to explain things to the inspector, that the bakery isn’t normally like this. But the inspector didn’t believe them and gave them a bad report.
After the report came out, Paris stopped coming to the bakery all together. The Dupain-Chengs lost all their business and it wasn’t long before they had to declare bankruptcy. The bank foreclosed on the bakery, meaning the family lost their home. They had no where to go. Roland didn’t have the room at his place. And Gina didn’t have an actual permanent address, since she was constantly traveling. But Gina was able to help them find a solution. She happened to have met the Waynes a few years back on her travels. She had met Bruce at one of his galas and they had been close friends ever since.
She called Bruce and asked if the Dupain-Chengs could stay in Gotham for a bit, until they get back on their feet. He agreed and the Dupain-Chengs were soon on their way to Gotham. By this time, Marinette had told her parents what started all of this and that Lila was the one who posted all the reviews. The family arrived in Gotham and Alfred picked them up at the airport.
When they arrived at the manor, they met Bruce Wayne and his sons. “Gina told me what happened in Paris, and it was just horrible. She also told me it was all because of a liar. I am sure you will be able to get on your feet in no time. In fact, I want to fund the set up of a new bakery for you.” Tom and Sabine tried to refuse, not wanting to accept charity, but Bruce wouldn’t hear it. “If it makes you feel better, consider it a loan.” They were still hesitant, but accepted his offer as a loan.
They started up a new bakery in Gotham and had amazing success. It wasn’t long before they were able to pay Bruce back. They were loving their new life in Gotham and had become close friends with the Waynes. Marinette was enjoying her new school, there was no Lila there and her new friends treated her like real friends do. She had even become especially close with Damian Wayne. Gotham was shocked to see this girl, that was the literal embodiment of sunshine, thaw the Ice Prince of Gotham.
Meanwhile back in Paris, Lila’s undoing had begun. When pictures of Marinette and Damian on a date surfaced on the internet, the class saw them. The problem was that Lila had said she was in a committed relationship with Damian. So why would Damian be on a date with Marinette? Of course, the class didn’t want to think that Lila was a liar, Damian could have just been cheating. Which is what Lila said had happened. While the rest of the class comforted Lila, through the heart break, Nino and Alix grew suspicious of Lila. They decided to look back at some of her stories and see if they were actually true.
Nino and Alix were horrified the more they learned about Lila. It didn’t take long for them to realize she was a complete liar. They were even more horrified when they noticed that the pictures of the bakery had a watermark of a known stock photo website. Nino and Alix realized that Paris had turned on the Dupain-Chengs for no reason. Nino told Alya everything and showed her all the proof that he and Alix had found. It wasn’t long before the whole city knew about Lila and her lies. They felt so guilty for falling for her lies and turning on the Dupain-Chengs.
When they tried to reach out an apologize, they found that the Dupain-Chengs had already moved on and built a new life for themselves in Gotham. The Dupain-Chengs were very happy in Gotham, and while the situation that brought them there was horrible, they were glad it had happened. If it hadn’t they wouldn’t have ended up where they truly belonged.
Hope you guys liked it! @maribat-central-official

Summer
Sorry it's like, 3 years late. But this was requested from @genderbenduniverse which is Fem Robin and Bruce in the pool. After writing this I realize it was actually a Fem Bruce so I'm sorry, I'll see if I can do something for fem Bruce next time. For now, this ties in with my last post here. Thanks!
and thanks to @theladieauthor who wrote changing tim's name. I couldn't come up with good names for them soo,,, Tiffany ended up being a good idea.
---
The funny thing was, Bruce followed Dixie on instagram. Every blue moon he would open the app (squinty eyed, in a way that Tif said made him look like a meme) and see her photos. They were usually promoting some sort of charity or something of her on a new trip. She was active on it, as much as she could be and it helped keep her secret identity.
Of course, he hadn't been happy when she first got it at the age of 16. He didn't want his underage daughter going around posting photos of herself where any creep can see it. But it had helped solidify her identity and she was at that age where she could tell him to take his concern and stick it where the sun didn't shine.
She also posted a lot of athletic videos and was always careful of things she couldn't post in case it got back to her alter ego. She was responsible.
But he still hated it.
(Janna had a page but it wasn't for her civilian identity. Bruce had thought about following it but the PR nightmare of following the Red Hood would be terrible. It didn't stop the Red Hood from leaving passive aggressive comments on Bruce Wayne's meger photos.
Bruce liked every single one because he knew Janna loathed it.)
So when he went outside to find Tif and ask about the latest meeting notes for a meeting he had in like, 15 minutes, he was not happy to find Dixie by the pool, Tif crouched to the side with a camera.
He didn't like the two piece bikini she wore that took him back to discowing days and the way it barely covered any parts of her body
"Hi B." She greeted, holding a beach ball over her head and striking a pose. "What's up?"
Tif looks up after getting a shot. "Is it the meeting? Want me to prep with you?"
Bruce is actually caught off guard. He has two papers in his hands and a lot of things trying to come out of his mouth and he knows if he says anything it would be a jumbled confusing mess.
He's torn between demanding an answer, reprimanding his 26 year old daughter for doing what she is technically allowed to do with her body, and just walking back inside and pretending he didn't see anything.
"Absolutely not." Comes out, sounding strangled enough that both girls look startled. Without even considering it, he is dropping the papers and shrugging out of his jacket. Alfred raised him as a gentleman after all. "You are not taking pictures to post in that."
"Oh my god, B." Dixie says, blue eyes wide in astonishment. "You are not giving me your jacket."
He holds it out as Dixie stares, miffed. Bruce knows without a doubt that if Dixie was a few years younger she'd have flipped him off and scoffed. Now, she almost seemed amused, which he was glad for. Dixie's anger was still legendary, but she knew how to pick her battles and how to speak her mind in a way that truly hurt and wasn't just covered with teenage hormones.
He hopes his look reads he wasn't budging on this. There is a cold second where Dixie stares (again, choosing her battles) and he thinks she is going to refuse and make a point.
But her lips quirk and she takes it, dropping the beach ball to her feet and shuffling it on.
She is swimming in the jacket, looking at the long sleeves with a calculated look in her eyes. It reminds him of the time she was twelve, leaving a school dance and had shivered until he gave her his jacket. They had gone out for ice cream afterwards while she griped about girls being mean and so classist. It had been one of his suit jackets because in those years Alfred was heavy on his business suits. He remembers when he got it back and found crumpled flowers in the pockets and a nickel that confused him because he had given her his credit card not hard cash.
"I don't care what you do." He says, needing to iterate this and not just leave their conversation as a mess. "But not this."
Tif has been silent, looking at everything with raised eyebrows. He knows Tif's also received his jacket before. Actually, all of them have.
Dixie grins, a grin that instantly puts him on edge because she shoots forward and links their arms together. Dixie has always been affectionate, a contrast to Janna, Tif, and Danielle. While she hadn't initiated a lot of touch between them lately, she always passed touches and gentle nudges when she thought necessary.
Tif takes the photo as Dixie jerks him towards the camera unprepared. He hates photos, always has but Dixie laughs, bright and cheerful in a way he misses. It's been awhile since he heard her laugh that way.
He is still blinded by the laugh that when Dixie takes one more step he is biting at a curse at the rush of gravity as she drags him into the pool with an iron grip around his arm.
Later, when he sees the photos she'd posted he still hates the small two piece suit she's wearing but her caption has him tagged. He finds himself taking the file from Tif's laptop and saving it as it becomes one of his favorites.
-
@ Dixie_G Photo set: The first photo is Dixie in a two piece bikini, a beach ball under her arm and with a sunhat on. She is winking to the camera, hair loose and wild while she is kneeled on a towel, the beginnings of the pool can be seen behind her.
The second photo is of Dixie and Bruce, their arms linked and a suit jacket that obviously belongs to Bruce on her that covers most of her body. She is grinning while Bruce wears a scowl, seemingly not expecting the photos.
The third photo is Dixie in the water of the pool, hair wet and head thrown back in laughter. The jacket she wears is soaked and sticking plastered to her. Bruce is on the other side, soaked and giving her a firm look but there is a crook to his lips that gives away his amusement.

Just Another Class Trip :) Part 6
Marinette goes on a nice peaceful trip to the pool. Me? sarcasm? how dare you sir!
First< Previous >Next
---------------------------
“Did you find what you were looking for Marinette?” Kagami asks oh so foolishly.
“Kagami look into my eyes and ask me that again,” Marinette dares, her eyes red rimmed with bags underneath bigger than Chloe's luggage.
“... You found your glasses?”
“Never mind,” She sighs, finishing the rest of her coffee, “At least that one isn't missing,”
“I thought you only wore them as M-you-know-who,” Chloe whispers, a purposeful look towards Lila’s posse leading the way to the bus.
“Just wanted to try them out without a mask,” She brushes off easily, she needed to be able to transport back to Paris at any time after all.
“Oh it was just terrible!” Lila cries, capturing the attention of everyone surrounding her.
“Did she finally hear a recording of herself?” Chloe scoffs, making Adrien shush her and Marinette crack a smile.
“This Starling kidnapped and tortured me for information,”
If only I had
“Luckily Batman was there to save me, but I knew he would be,” Lila croons, the class fretting over her all the while, “He was probably searching furiously the second I didn’t return his call,”
“When did she get Batman’s phone number?” Chloe whispers to her.
“No idea, think she’d give it to me?” Marinette smirks.
“Oh sure I bet it's 3825968,” Chloe laughs at her own joke.
Marinette doesn't get it but Kagami starts laughing, so she moves to stand next to Adrien while they share a moment.
“Any idea?”
“Not really,”
They reach the door going through it to find Gotham in the nice peaceful state it's always been.
Just kidding, lights start flashing in their faces and everyone around them is yelling. Lila of course tries to take this opportunity to get attention. To Marinette's great delight they push right past her, and to her horror opt to shove a million microphones in her face.
“Miss Wayne were you adopted?!”
“Yes but-” the cameras start flashing and the yelling increases tenfold.
“When?! How long ago!?!”
“A baby I guess?” She hadn't known her birth parents after all.
“How have you stay'n out of the public's eye for so long?”
By not being like Lila for one
“Mari I don’t think you’re talking about the same thing,”
“Yeah thanks, I’m getting that Adrien,”
“Adrien Agreste? Are you two dating?!”
“Great,” She ignores them, instead whispering to Adrien, “From now on Buttercup will be your codename,”
“Cool,” He leans in to whisper in her ear, “But I don’t think that’s helping things,”
It’s at this point the cameras are going crazy taking a million pictures of the two whispering in each others ear, while Kagami and Chloe try to push them all back. The class follow behind just as confused. Madame Bustier is trying to reason with the crowd, trying to . They reach the curb, fighting not to be pushed onto the road by the crowd. A limousine pulls up and for a wonderful second Marinette thinks Liam has come to save her, the wonderful manager he is. Instead Alfred steps out, surprising to say the least. He ushers her inside and tells the rest of the class the bus will be through momentarily. Marinette slides into the car right next to Bruce Wayne… well.
“Hello again, I um…” Marinette thinks back to their last meeting, “I don’t think I actually told you my name,”
“No you didn’t,” Bruce chuckles, “And Selina has been avoiding me ever since,”
“Sorry, well I’m Marinette Dupain-Cheng Auntie Selina’s niece,” Marinette shakes his hand, “She didn’t tell me she was engaged,”
“Bruce Wayne, Selina didn’t tell me she had a niece,”
“Yeah, that's a bad habit isn't it?”
“Indeed,” Bruce pauses, both trying to reach for a conversation topic, “So you like fashion?”
She had said she would design her aunts wedding dress. She should probably double check that with the groom, whoops,
“I do I already sketched out some designs,” She takes out her sketchbook which has a good thirty pages dedicated to wedding dresses, “Oh you were probably going to hire a professional designer weren’t you?”
“We were considering MDC,”
“.... I think that’ll work out just fine either way,”
“Hm,” Bruce looks curiously at her as she hides away her sketch book, she would be using those designs either way.
“Anyway!” She changes the topic oh so subtly, “About those reporters…”
“Theres a certain rumour running rampant that you are a Wayne, after someone took a photo of you with my son at the airport,” Bruce explains, switching over to business mode in a heat beat, she could appreciate that, “We’ve been doing our best to contain it, but…”
“At the airport…” She mutters to herself, “Oh! Tim’s your son, that explains Alfred, that must mean Dick is too!... work at Wayne tower, yeah very funny,”
She tries not to roll her eyes at their understatement of the century, wasn't Tim Drake a CEO there?
“Impressive, have you met Damian too?” Bruce asks, a slight smile that would have called Kagami expressive.
“Not yet, but should I invest in a bingo card?”
“Maybe so,”
They fall into silence Marinette would usually hold polite conversation but her thoughts were in turmoil. Lila didn’t seem to know anything about the miraculous then again her interrogation was cut short by a certain someone . However Tikki had advised her against placing all the blame on Lila, she needed to consider other options as well. But who else could it be? she was in Gotham Hawkmoth couldn't reach her… unless he somehow...
“Marinette are you alright?”
Marinette startles look over at Bruce who is blurred by tears. She hadn't even realised she’d been crying.
“I-I’m sorry,” She hiccups trying fruitlessly to wipe away the tears, “I-it just…”
“It’s ok,” Bruce rubs her back comfortingly, but boy did he choose the wrong words.
“IT’S NOT OK!” Marinette yells not looking at anyone in the car, they didn’t matter, nothing else mattered, she had failed and people were going to suffer for it, “I left it behind! It’s all my fault! Now it’s GONE! It’s been stolen and I don’t know where it is!”
“What was stolen?” Bruce presses, getting over the shock of the polite and put together girl melting down into a puddle of sobs.
Now I’ve gone and messed up, time for a classic cover story and some half truths
“A good friend of mine gave me a very important jewellery box,” Marinette sighs, wiping the tears away and rebuilding herself, “It was stolen shortly after arriving in Gotham and I’ve been trying to find it,”
“Do you know who stole it?”
“I thought it was one of my classmates,” Marinette frowns, they should have certainly been there by now, “Still do honestly,”
“Which one?”
“Lila probably,” Marinette tries to keep her tone neutral, tries, “Brown hair that looks like sausages,”
Marinette could almost see the words ‘oh fuck’ written across his face.
“Miss Dupain-Cheng, we have arrived,” Alfred speaks up for the first time, not leaving her time to puzzle over the reaction, “Your class arrived some time ago,”
“How did that happen?” Marinette frowns, they should have arrived ages ago.
“Alfred must have taken the scenic route,” Bruce shrugs, acting like an innocent party in all this.
“Well then I guess I’ll see you for the wedding,” Marinette tries not to rush out of the car, certain her class or rather Lila would have caused some grief by now.
“I’ll make sure to send the invites to your family personally,” Bruce promises, shaking her hand before she can run off.
“And I’ll make sure Auntie Selina doesn’t destroy them,” Marinette smiles back brightly, she can see the concern for her all over Bruce's face but doesn't have time to reassure him.
Marinette walks into the indoor pool, knowing her luck the class was already inside. They were and the owner was not happy about it.
“First your class was late then you waltz in here late as well?” The manager berates her.
“I’m sorry sir,” Marinette tries to seem more sincere but her tardiness falls short on the things she has to worry about now.
“That class mate of yours came an yelled at me that one of our pools were dirty so we had to drain the whole thing,”
“Let me guess, sausage hair?” Marinette raises a bow, it really being all the energy she can put into the action.
“Yes,”
“Sorry sir I’ll talk with her,” Marinette promises, she slips into the changing rooms as they grumble about lazy employees.
There is absolutely no way Marinette was going to talk to Lila. She enters the changing room, a shower running somewhere. She tucks Tikki and Kaalki into her bag, Tikki had insisted she relax today, recharge and get ready to find the miraculous. She couldn’t find enough will to argue not after having to wake up in the middle of the night to fight an Akuma back in Paris.
She slowly changes into a red and orange ruffled one piece swimwear. She honestly just wanted to take a nap in here, hide away from the class and the well meaning questions from her friends. Instead she drags herself towards the shower, they are all open and there's someone towards the back standing underneath the spray in their bathers.
Something fires back at her to be careful, it puts her on edge but with miraculously potentially loose in Gotham city it’s no wonder her instincts are screaming at her. Instead she steps under the spray hoping to loosen up.
She doesn't, after standing there for ten minutes she still can’t relax. Maybe it’s the cold water, maybe its the other person. The were still standing there, they had been in the shower even before she entered the changing room. Marinette peaks over, they are still standing still, with their arm out… the same way they had been ten minutes ago.
“Are you ok?” Marinette calls, no answer, not even a twitch.
Marinette creeps over. They are standing stock still, she can’t see evidence of them so much as breathing.
“Hello,” Her voice echoes off the tiles, not a noise in the empty room besides from the shower running.
She is right behind them, they haven't even moved, arm still raised. She walks around to see their face. Frozen in a look of concentration, not so much as blinking with water running into their eyes. She follows their eyeline to see them peeling off dead skin from their arm, stretching towards their fingertips. There's a faint glow of yellow all around them, concentrated at their back.
Marinette steps away, walking out the showers, she closes the nearest door to find herself in the pool area. Her friends are on the other side. Kagami is dunking Adrien as Chloe waves her over. Marinette sprints over to them.
“No running!” The life guard yells.
But that doesn't matter, all that matters is that there is someone using the bee miraculous for evil, she has to stop them before they get another Hawkmoth. They probably have the whole miracle box! She'll need the back up.
“Mari-”
“Come with me,” She doesn't let them have another question helping Adrien out of the pool.
She pulls them along despite Chloe's protests, pushing them through the door.
“Mari what's-”
“Hush now Buttercup,”
“You were serious?” Adrien gasps, Chloe just giggles.
“Yes,” She walks over to the frozen body, “Look at this,”
“Whats-” Chloe pokes them, immediately recoiling, “The fuck?”
“They’re frozen,” Kagami does the same.
“We have to help them,” Adrien waves in front of their face, looking on in horror.
“We have to hide them,” Chloe pokes them again, getting slapped away by Kagami.
“We have to find the culprit,” Marinette races at the idea that this could be the Bee miraculous.
“We’ll do all three,” Kagami decides, getting their attention, “Now first let's put them in a stall so we don’t alarm anyone or the villain, then we need to look for clues,"
They all nod, Marinette turns the water off. Adrien tries to move their arm to no avail.
“Looks like we have to carry them,” Adrien suggests, he and Marinette each taking an arm.
“Ew, no I’m not touching it Buttercup!” Chloe cringes away, backing up as Kagami lifts a leg off the ground.
“Has that really stuck?” Adrien asks Marinette, as Kagami sends Chloe a powerful enough death glare to get her to help.
“You bet Buttercup,” Marinette grins, as they shuffle through the changing rooms to the toilet stalls.
“Fine then, I’m calling you Cupcake,” Adrien teases, sticking out his tongue.
“As you wish Buttercup,”
“Someone get the door,” Kagami commands.
“I will!” Chloe lets go of the leg, the body becoming no heavier.
They manage to fit them inside the stall without too much hassle.
“Who could have done this?” Adrien looks on sadly at the person, tilted at a slight angle to fit into the stall.
“I’ve been thinking,” Marinette speaks up, “If this is a villain it doesn't make much sense to attack a random person, and if they were trying to be stealthy they would have hidden the body,”
“They aren’t dead!” Adrien says aghast.
“Exactly, why wouldn’t a villain just kill them?”
“That's very dark of you Cupcake,” Kagami says, missing Adrien’s pout, “What’s your theory?”
“This is likely a new villain, one not ready to kill,” Marinette decides, not even blinking at the nickname, “They have something against the pool, they probably want to ruin its reputation,”
“You did say that this was a very safe pool for Gotham,” Chloe closes the stall door, “Minimal murders, so why would someone want to ruin it?”
“Insurance? Sick of their job?” Marinette’s eyes go wide in realisation, “The pool!”
She darts out the changing room the others close on her heels.
“No Running!”
“Where are we going!?”
“The manager said they were refilling the pool,”
“Why- oh my god,” Chloe gasps, overtaking the lot of them, “Run faster!”
They burst into another pool room, the pool noticeable empty with diving boards on the other end. They run to the edge of the pool. A frozen body wearing employee uniform frozen at the bottom the water slowly rising.
“Get them out! Get them out!”
Marinette jumps down into the pool, causing a splash, the water is up to her ankles, barely a centimeter from covering the person at the bottom. She runs over and tries to pull them up. Kagami makes a splash behind her running over to help. They drag the person, frozen in horror the yellow focused on their chest instead. The pool is far too deep to climb out of so they pass the body up to Adrien and Chloe.
“Who would do this?!” Adrien can just reach them when Marinette and Kagami lift the person over their heads.
“I heard the manager mutter about lazy employees,” Marinette gives one last push, Chloe and Adrien pull them up over the edge.
“So we have a suspect,” Kagami says, water rising up her leg, “We should check their office next,”
“Well, they went from no murder to yes murder in record time,” Chloe huffs, the employee safely to the side.
“It’s concerning, but they may have more of a grudge against them than the other person,” Marinette points Kagami towards the ladder to get out.
“More evidence towards the manager,” Kagami nods, letting her up the ladder first, “We should choose codenames if the manager is potentially familiar with us,”
“They did have the class roster,” Marinette nods along, then grins, “You should be Teacup!”
“Fine by me,” Kagami nods, not showing how happy she truly is with the nickname.
“Oh I want to be-” Chloe cuts herself off head snapping towards the door.
They hear scratching at the door, everyone tenses. Marinette crouches in a position to defend her friends. The door slowly creeps open and… a little snout pokes through followed by the rest of the dog.
“Is this what you wanted to see Cuppy?” A person wearing a lifeguard uniform follows in a second later.
“Excuse me is your dog named Cuppy?” Marinette plasters on a fake smile quickly pulling a nearby towel over the body.
“Yes it’s a weird name I know,”
“No! It’s perfect! On another note could we please borrow your dog?”
“Um... sure?”
“Thank you, we have to go! Careful the pool is empty!” She calls as they race out the room, the person tucked away out of sight, “Come on Cuppy!”
"NO RUNNING!"
The dog wags its tail following them out the pool area and through the changing rooms. They come to stand outside the staffroom door, dripping water on the carpet.
“Everyone ready?” Marinette asks, hand on the door, they nod and Cuppy lets out an 'off', the door slowly creaks open.
Marinette looks through to see, nothing, the hallway is desolate and dark.
“It’s safe,”
“You call that safe?” Adrien pokes his head through the door, followed by Chloe and Kagami.
“Be brave Buttercup be brave,” With that Chloe pushes him into the corridor.
They creep along the empty hallway, footsteps echoing around them. The manager's office door could be seen at the end of the hall. Gold color plate glinting in the few stray beams of light filtering through. Marinette could feel every hair stand on end, danger seeming to lurk from every shadow in the dark hall. The pressure of something ready to pounce and immobilise them at any moment hung heavy in the air, dragging them down into a pressure that-
“HIC!”
Everyone jumps out of their skins, Adrien actually hits the ceiling, rubbing his head on the way down. Kagami draws her sword, Marinette falls into a defensive position.
“Hic!”
“Chloe!
“I’m sorry! Hic! It’s not like I can help it! Hic,”
“Thats it! You’re Hiccup!” Kagami snaps, Marinette tries not to snort.
‘What?!” Chloe screeches stamping her foot, “No way!”
“Deal with it and lower your voices!” Marinette shouts, Cuppy barks along, “Not you too Cuppy?”
Another yip
“Traitor,”
“Cupcake stop picking fights with the dog and lets move on,” Adrien implores, still rubbing his head.
Marinette rolls her eyes speed walking to the manager's office before the tension rises again. The reach outside the door, Marinette counts down to three on her fingers and they burst through the door.
Inside is silent, the bright light blinds them for a second, she shuffles in front of her friends acting as a shield, waiting for them to adjust. When she does she sees the desk chair is turned away, Cuppy pads forward Marinette doesn't grab his collar in time.
He starts licking someone's hand, Marinette creeps around the desk, waiting for the hand to snap out and grab her. The others follow, surrounding the chair preparing to come face to face with the villain. She peeks around the edge they are sitting there, she freezes the others following her lead. A beat, another one, nothing. They’re frozen.
“It’s not the manager,” She relaxes, patting Cuppy’s head.
She lets out a sigh, releasing all her tension.
BAM
Turning around the door is slammed shut, a striped villain standing before it. They all drop into a fighting stance watching for the stinger on their right hand. Cuppy starts wagging his tail, trying to approach the villain.
“Cuppy no,” Marinette grabs his harness, bringing the Pitbull back.
“He’s my therapy dog,” The villain growls, Cuppy wagging his tail happily.
“Not a very good one is he?” Chloe sneers, looking the villain wearing her stripes up and down with disgust.
“Wait, you’re the lifeguard at the pool?” Marinette gasps, maybe she really shouldn't have run, “Why did you-”
“I work here, you can’t imagine the horrors I face every day, people are disgusting,” The villain shudders, this was the guy who stole the miracle box?
“Yes, but murder?” Kagami gets a nod from Chloe and hissed at by Adrien.
“My co workers are completely useless and the boss always yells at me,” A sinister smirk crosses their face, “Or at least they did,”
“So you thought murder before you thought quitting ,” Adrien points out, probably not the best time to imply a villain is stupid.
“I didn’t kill anyone,”
“Ah yeah thanks to us!”
“Shut up!” They lash out at Chloe, stinging her in a single strike.
“Run!” Marinette shouts, they all scatter.
Marinette dodges the first swipe, ducking down. They get distracted by Kagami lashing out. Marinette darts around them to get closer to the door, Kagami gets hit. Marinette reaches the door the villain comes after her, they are inches away. Adrien leaps in front of her, getting stung. With the distraction Marinette bursts out the door Cuppy on her heels.
“Traitor,” She sprints down the hall, “Did you know?”
Cuppy happily pants beside her. She can hear the villain banging around the corridor behind her and runs faster. She dodges into a room around the corner, hiding among the pool noodles. She sees the shadow pass under the door. Pause. She holds her breath intently watching the shadow, she has no one, not even Tikki. He heart beat rises, she can feel her breaths shorten, this is it, this is it, this is it, this is-
Something nuzzles her hand, she looks down to see Cuppy. He starts to lick her hand, letting her relax into it, focusing on him as the shadow continues on. With a sigh Marinette starts to take off her skirt, flipping it inside out to the cape side.
“You aren't going to tell anyone about this are you?” Marinette asks Cuppy, right before pulling up her mask, he lets out a happy bark, “Good boy,”
She sneaks out the room, looking up and down the clear hallway. She walks the opposite way of the office. She doesn't need to see her friends paralysed, she just needs to help them, she just needs to fix her mistake.
She reaches the pool area, hiding behind a lounge chair, watching through the slats as the villain gathers everyone together. Starling sneaks closer, Cuppy on her heels. There are several civilians, locals if their calm demeanour is anything to go by, although they do seem uneasy at an unknown villain. Her class is significantly less calm.
She had told them time and again that there was no coming back in Gotham, no miraculous cure. It seems for once they had decided to listen to her. Unfortunately they did not do well under pressure. Lila of course was aggravating the situation, making empty threats. The villain reared up to silence her and man, Marinette could relate.
“I don’t suppose I can wait a minute can I?” She whispers to Cuppy, he settle a paw on her knee, letting out a quiet whine, “I guess that’s a no,”
She runs up behind the villain, signalling the civilians to be quiet. Lila looks down at her, anger flashing over her face. Starling bears her teeth right back, she can just try it. Lila ultimately decides her life is more precious than petty revenge, a hard choice for her to be sure.
Starling stands up to her full height behind the villain tapping them on the shoulder. They turn around in surprise, to find her dazzling smile. But the real thing that makes them see stars is her right hook. As the fall Starling rips the bee miraculously right out of their hair, their transformation falling. Marinette stands above them as they detransform, Pollen hiding behind her. It makes her stomach churn watching them detransform, looking up at her with fear. The twisting of her insides lessens when Cuppy nuzzles up next to her. She busies herself with hiding the miraculous away.
“It’s them!” Lila screeches, ah now she can get to that petty revenge, “The one that kidnapped me!”
“Look what you did,” Staling bites instead, looking down at the villain.
“I had nothing to do with this!” Starling is highly entertained when Cuppy growls at Lila, actually getting her to back off.
“Sure you didn’t,” Starling openly rolls their eyes, grabbing the villain and hauling them up by their shirt, "Where is the rest!"
"I-I don't know what you're talking about!" She scowls, making them whimper, guess they really didn't know,
Shit
"Where did you get this?" She holds up the miraculous.
"I found it! it was just lying out on the street!"
Shit
"Did you see any others?!"
"No!" the blubber swearing by it and begging for mercy.
Shit
The police sirens can now be heard, Starling drops them and runs from the room.
“NO RUNNING!” She turns on her heel and glares down at the villain, “... sorry, it’s a reflex,”
She nods running from the room to change, grabbing her bag with Tikki and Kaalki on the way. After a small celebration at finding another miraculous and reunion with Pollen, they have to make a plan to find the other miraculous. They are cut short when sirens are heard outside. She wears the Bee miraculous under her ponytail, to keep it hidden from view.
When she is ready she goes to find her friends. They are outside talking to the police. Marinette only gets the chance to signal she’s ok before being intercepted by officers to get her statement. When she’s retold her account of trying to find the pool freezer she is finally allowed to check on her friends.
“Hey Cupcake, glad to see you missed all the fun,” Chloe teases.
“Sorry Hiccup,” Marinette looks her in the eye deadly serious grasping each shoulder, “You were an adequate shield,”
“Shut it,” Chloe pushes her away playfully.
“Teacup, Buttercup are you alright?”
“It was nothing,” Kagami assures.
“Didn’t you guys think their powers were a lot like Queen Bees?”
“You would know Hiccup,” She nudges Chloe playfully, “If it was I think we should keep that to ourselves, wouldn't want that information somehow getting back to Hawkmoth,”
She looks purposefully towards Lila, the others nod along.
“Still some random person now might have the miraculous,” Chloe glares down at the ground, “Can we really trust this Starling person,”
I mean no I'm operating on negative six hours of sleep, but also yes
“I don’t think we have much other choice,”
“Marinette,” She freezes at that familiar, low gravelly voice.
“Batman, sir,” She adds, trying to look like someone who wasn't chased down by him yesterday, “How can I help you?”
“I heard you knew the most about this villain,” How did she get in trouble for interrogating Lila when this is how he talks to civilians.
“Not really I just found someone paralysed and tried to find the culprit,” Marinette shrugs, hoping her friends wouldn't point out that she is lying to The Batman.
“You didn’t call the police,”
Well thats a good point, not that I would have
“... To be honest it absolutely did not occur to me,”
“These abilities were spontaneous and now they seem to be gone,” Batman points out, damn he already knows too much, “Do you know what caused this?”
“I do not,”
“Very well,” Batman nods turning away, “Go to your class,”
“Yes sir,” Marinette walks away far too quickly.
How was she going to search the city with that hunting her down?!

Longitudinalwaveme Reviews Some More Old Comics (and One New One), Part 3
Batman #353, “Last Laugh”
The Joker walks into his hideout at the abandoned Tatch Hotel, where his goons are gambling. He promptly kills one of them by snakebite for disrespecting him.
Batman scares a corrupt city council member into revealing that the doctored photos that “revealed” Batman as a crime boss came from real crime boss Rupert Thorne. Apparently, Thorne ensured that Reeves would lose the election...meaning that he wanted Hamilton Hill to be mayor for some reason.
Also, Gordon is currently not the Commissioner---someone named Commissioner Pauling is, and Batman suspects both he and the new mayor are corrupt.
The next day, as Bruce Wayne, he accompanies Vicki Vale to the destruction of Gotham Central Station. Apparently, Vicki was witness to an interaction between Rupert Thorne and Morton Monroe that culminated in the latter’s suicide.
The computer being used to manage the explosions that will preserve the landmark while still clearing space for new development malfunctions has been stolen...by the Joker!
Because Batman and the new police commissioner are on the outs, Batman hadn’t known about the Joker’s escape from Arkham, and he’s not happy about that. He does, however, quickly work out that the Joker has bought some land in the Palisades under the pseudonym of Mr. Harlan Quinn. (No...seriously!)
Batman heads to the location in question...only to be caught off-guard by the Joker, who shoots a drugged arrow at him. When he wakes up, he’s tied to some rocks and surrounded by dynamite.
Joker is upset that Gotham is constructing a statue for a Broadway star and not for him, so he’s going to use the dynamite and the computer he stole to create a monument of himself (and kill Batman).
Batman manages to break free and jams the computer signal by way of a device he brought with him for that purpose.
The story is then interrupted for a weird He-Man comic! Hi there, He-Man, Teela, Man-at-Arms, Battle Cat, Sorceress, Mer-man, Beast Man, and Skeletor! And, uh, Superman, too, I guess! Why not?
I can honestly say I did not expect this Batman comic to contain a Superman/Masters of the Universe crossover where Superman fought Skeletor.
And now back to Batman, who’s fighting Joker’s goons. While this is going on, the Joker shoots at Batman while his back is turned-only for the explosions to go off. It temporarily creates Joker’s memorial of himself, but it lasts for only a few seconds before collapsing. The issue ends with Joker frowning and Batman smiling in a really unsettling manner.
The issue also has a backup story, starring Robin and Batman, the latter of whom is undercover as Matches Malone. They work together to defeat some con-men, and Dick uses an inflatable suit to dress up as Batman. It’s pretty amusing.
Batman #355, “Never Scratch a Cat”
Why does Catwoman own what appears to be a pet panther?
Apparently, she’s not happy abut the fact that Vicky Vale is also romantically interested in Bruce Wayne. We then cut to the latter two on a date.
Their date is suddenly interrupted when Catwoman uses her car to send their car off a cliff and into a river. She immediately regrets it and dives into the water after them to save them.
Bruce fights her off and makes it to the surface with Vicki himself. Two days later, she wakes up in the hospital.
The police have been staking out Selina’s house, but so far, there hasn’t been any sign of her.
That night, Batman leaves to track down Catwoman, telling Dick not to come with him as Robin. They have a fairly heartwarming conversation, and then Batman zooms off, leaving Dick and Alfred worried about how angry he seems.
Batman breaks into Selina’s house...and is promptly attacked by her pet panther. They fight, and he defeats the panther. He then discovers that Selina hasn’t been home for at least 2 days.
Batman looks through her bills and discovers that she’s rented an apartment somewhere.
Ex-Commissioner Gordon talks politics with Mayor Hamilton Hill. There’s a petition to remove the latter from his position, since he’s connected to Thorne and Thorne was arrested for murdering his own appointee for police commissioner. Also, Hill makes him commissioner again.
Batman tracks Catwoman to her new apartment and the two fight, verbally and physically. Eventually, though, they make up and hug each other. It’s kind of weird, but I guess it works.
Flash #324, “The Slayer and the Slain”
The Reverse-Flash is dead! But the real horror of this issue isn’t that he’s dead or that he died attempting to murder Fiona Webb...it’s the fact that this issue will kick off the Trial of the Flash arc; otherwise known as the Arc That Never Ends!
Some really weird nurse tells a baby the story of her favorite soap opera...only to lose her grip on the carriage, which goes hurtling towards a pane of glass! Kid Flash manages to save the baby, but not the glass.
Kid Flash then rushes to what he believes will be the wedding of his uncle to Fiona Webb, changing into a tuxedo along the way.
Unfortunately, when Wally arrives at the church, there’s no sign of Barry. Dexter Miles, Barry’s friend Mack Nathan, Mack’s son Troy, and Ralph Dibney, the Elongated Man, are at the church, though, as are Barry’s parents and Fiona herself.
Before Barry’s first name was Bartholomew, it was Barrence. No, seriously.
Fiona is naturally very upset, believing Barry stood her up at the alter. Henry Allen is less than sympathetic. “Nora and I aren’t ready to give up on our boy just yet, Fiona. And if you really love him...you’re not about to either!” Way to guilt-trip her, Henry. No wonder Barry got along better with Roscoe-pretending-to-be-you than he did with you.
Barry and the Reverse-Flash have a fight/race around the world, Eobard yelling about how mad he is about Barry trapping him at the end of time for four years.
Officer Frye and Frank Curtis are also at the wedding.
Apparently the Guardians of the Universe stopped Wally from helping Barry fight Eobard for some reason. Okay...
Eobard, being Eobard, makes a giant ice sculpture of Iris in the Himalayas just so he can troll Barry. Then they fight some more as all the wedding guests wonder where the bridegroom is.
While the two are fighting/racing, Eobard creates a big wave at Miami Beach, which Barry has to stop to rescue some swimmers from.
Captain Frye is starting to believe that Barry’s been murdered.
Eobard and Barry end up in Cape Carneval and take a rocket into outer space. After they return to Earth, Eobard taunts Barry by writing “Guess who’s going to kill your wife again” in the sand. This naturally makes Barry very, very unhappy.
Equally unhappy is Fiona, who is now completely convinced she’s been stood up and is leaving the church.
The wedding photographer pops up over thirty-five minutes after the wedding is supposed to start; conveniently already filming with his camera.
Eobard runs towards Fiona, murder on his mind...only for Barry to grab him from behind by the neck as he shouts “NO! Not again!”
Barry tries to comfort Fiona to no avail as Frye discovers that Eobard is dead.
And on that grim note, the issue ends.
Batman #362, “When Riddled By the Riddler...”
Why was Riddler working at a winery? Is it just because one of the processes involved in making wine is called riddling it? Whatever the reason, the appearance of a film crew at the winery apparently gives Riddler an idea for his next crime spree.
Batman is summoned to police headquarters, where Harvey Bullock is arguing with Commissoner Gordon. Apparently, Bullock’s working with Mayor Hill, and the Riddler has been sending Gordon puzzle boxes.
This puzzle box prompts Bullock to ask about the Riddler, which in turn prompts Gordon to tell Bullock and the reader about the Riddler’s M.O. and backstory.
When he finishes the story, Batman finally arrives and kicks Bullock out. He and Gordon proceed to try to solve Riddler’s latest riddle as Bullock eavesdrops on them both from outside the door. The riddle seems to point in the direction of the Mother Goose Amusement Park, but Batman tells Gordon to keep thinking of other possible meanings just in case.
Bullock plans to outwit Gordon, Batman, and the Riddler, showing an impressive degree of self-confidence (or self-delusion).
Batman goes to the park and is promptly ambushed by a machine-gun wielding Riddler.
Then they fight, Riddler escapes, and Batman learns that the amusement park has been closed all season, so it would have no money around to steal.
Gordon, Bullock, and Batman reconvene to do some Bat Deducting in order to figure out the Riddler’s real plan. Because Batman’s true superpower is his ability to understand the insane ways in which the Riddler uses riddles to plot his crimes.
Apparently, Riddler is going to steal the loot of a game show being filmed in Paradise Theater. The show in question is called “Enigma”, which is a terrible name for a show filmed in Gotham. It’s beggining the Riddler to show up.
The Riddler actually wears a suit in this issue! That’s unusual for Riddler at this point, and it looks really good. Of course, he immediately takes it off a few panels later, but still.
Apparently, the game show consists of getting contestants to answer riddles and...seriously, who decided it was a good idea to film this in Gotham?
Then the Riddler pops himself out of the riddle drum used in the game show. It’s hilarious. He steals the money and walks out the door, gloating.
Batman then appears and starts chasing Riddler, who hijacks a bus. Batman follows him and uses gas to force the bus to stop.
Then Batman literally kicks him off the bus and captures him.
The issue ends with Bullock deciding to drop the charges he’s managed to get raised against Gordon (after Gordon uses a riddle to threaten him). Hill is not happy about this.
Batman #373, “The Frequency of Fear”
The issue opens with Jason Todd having a freaky nightmare about his parents’ deaths (since this is pre-Crisis, the deaths happened at the hands of Killer Croc).
A really stupid psychologist wants to meet Jonathan Crane so that he can analyze the effects of fear on the human mind. Unfortunately for him, Crane has been released from Arkham, because everyone in Gotham is stupid. Even the stupid psychologist thinks so!
Meanwhile, a couple of people at Gotham University wonder if they really did see the Scarecrow heading for the old Marston House where Crane once lived.
Julia Pennyworth, Alfred’s daughter, asks Vicki Vale for a position at Picture News (is this different than the Picture News where Iris West-Allen works?) Vicki is opposed to the idea until Julia insists she’s not interested in Bruce Wayne.
Apparently, in an earlier issue a number of Batman’s Rogues dragged Scarecrow around while he was mostly incapacitated by fear. He’s not happy about the fact that they did this and is plotting revenge against all of them.
A guard at the courthouse demands to know why he’s there. In response, Scarecrow uses a skull to emit his fear frequency, and the guard predictably starts hallucinating. He then continues to use the frequency to get the location of the lock-up. He’s then lead the the solitary cell of the Joker.....and then Batman shows up.
Scarecrow proceeds to use the fear frequency on both him and on Robin, when the latter shows up. Batman manages to fight off the worst of it, but when Jason chases the Scarecrow out of the building and onto the rope Scarecrow was using to escape, the frequency overcomes him, he loses his balance, and he starts falling.
Batman manages to rescue him, though.
On an unrelated note, Child Services are worried about the fact that Jason keeps falling asleep in class.
Gordon and Bullock go out for dinner and have a little chat; Mayor Hill hires a hit out on Bullock.
Meanwhile, Batman tells Crane’s backstory to Robin, who suggests that Crane might be hanging out at his old house. Batman dismisses this, which is unfortunate, since Crane is, in fact, hanging out there.
Crane is reading his psychology textbook to his little skull head. The man is really weird. I’ll also note that his textbook does actually contain a few words I’m not familiar with, which is impressive.
Crane then determines that he’ll have to get rid of Batman first if he wants to kill off all the other villains, and goes out to do just that.
Commissioner Gordon calls in Batman and Robin and tells them that the Scarecrow is attacking a zoo. Batman tells Robin to go home; he thinks the case is too dangerous for Jason.
Batman goes to the zoo, and is increasingly affected by fear. When he reaches the crocodile pit, the fear is so overwhelming that he loses his balance and starts to fall in.
Meanwhile, Jason has disobeyed orders and gone to Crane’s old house. The Scarecrow promptly attacks him as Batman falls into the crocodile exhibit....and the issue ends on a cliffhanger. Ooof.
Flash 2021 Annual
SPOILERS!
Man, Wally West makes the weirdest faces in this confessional.
Barry, Ollie, and Mr. Terrific talk technobabble.
Good news! It turns out Wally’s not a murderer anymore! HURRAH!
Roy is alive again! YAY!
Barry and Ollie are also making weird faces.
Ollie really wants to save Roy from the speed force explosion that will kill everybody at Sanctuary, but Barry says there’s nothing they can do. Ollie doesn’t like this explanation.
Also, Barry’s powers suddenly start fading.
Wally makes another weird face as he and Roy talk.
Hey, Savitar’s back! And looking a lot more attractive than the last time I saw him.
Turns out that he’s been causing all the weird problems with the Speed Force in this arc. It’s appropriate for him, I think.
Roy and Wally team up to fight Savitar, who goes on a villainous monologue about how he’s going to eat the speed force so he can become it.
There’s some more technobabble about the Speed Force. Apparently, if they don’t cause the explosion that kills everyone at Sanctuary, Savitar’s plan to eat the Speed Force will destroy the Omniverse.
Roy ends up setting up the necessary explosion to save the Omniverse. Good work, Roy!
Aww, Roy and all the heroes are dead again....:(
Oh, well. At least Wally still isn’t a murderer now.
Wally and Savitar arrive in the present, Wally decides to continue being the Flash, he and Savitar have a fight/race, Wally wins, and Savitar disappears.
After Wally takes a nap, he and Barry have a cute talk, and Barry gives poor Ollie, who’s been through a lot, a hug.
Wally goes home and reunites with his family. HURRAH!!!!
Heat Wave’s going to be in the next arc. It’ll be interesting to see how that goes.

"Overall, it wasn't so bad..." Tim commented.
"Except for the fact that Bane roared like a constipated bear and literally lunged at Damian and Jason threw him out the window..." Barbara quipped, her face serious but her lips were still twitching. "I... am highly amused. Twice."
"You were laughing until you bent over double that if you weren't in a wheelchair, you've probably knelt on the floor laughing." Dinah deadpanned. "It was hilarious."
"Yes, it was. The fact that Jason could actually lift Bane and throw him out... Did you guys see Bruce's face, though! Oh my god! He... he looked at Jason as if he'd seen the lord savior Jésus Todd or something!" Tim crowed. "Like, the dude Bane got thrown out a bay window twice. I get the awe, I was a little star-struck myself. But I can't believe dude actually wanted to try the third time until Alfred pointed a damn shotgun to his forehead! I can't even!"
"This thus solidifies my thoughts that the Waynes may be trying to figure out a way to get rid of this... brute without... I dunno..." Barbara pondered.
"Gotten themselves broken in half?" Tim suggested. "He sure insinuated that he would do such a thing to Damian."
"Oh, gee, Tim. Which part of his speech insinuated that? 'You lying bastard!', or 'I'll break you in halves!'?"
"I'm partial to the 'bastard' remark, really. I mean, pot, kettle?" Tim replied, giggling.
"Technically," Helena Bertinelli - The Huntress - sighed as she chimed in; "and ironically, at that; the 'bastard' would be Bane since he claimed to be Thomas Wayne's son and is younger than Bruce. Which means he was 'conceived' while Dr Thomas was already married to Mrs Wayne..."
"Right? Bruce and Talia were two consenting adults, albeit under 20 years old; and were wed in a local ritual witnessed by locals, according to Jason. You should see Bane's face when Jason presented copies of the marriage's registry." Tim continued.
"Oh, we saw, all right. Harper's drones worked quite well." Dinah replied, snickering, referring to Harper Row, one of their tech 'consultants'. "Even at that height, it still delivered crystal clear pictures. I vote we use them again."
"No vote needed, the drones are on stand-by at the Wayne Manor permanently at this point. I'm more interested in his reaction when Damian offered them a DNA test." Barbara told her.
"I'm more interested in Bruce Wayne's reaction, really. He didn't seem too surprised, as if he was expecting this to happen or something." Helena pointed out.
"Maybe he did," Barbara replied absently. "Dude has been swingin' more than the roarin' 50s, there has got to be some juniors out there that even he didn't know of."
"Ugh, while I'm not a fan of Bruce Wayne's womanizing ways, I personally don't think he's that reckless. He's not a drinker or a junkie, as far as I know. He has virtually no vice other than extreme sports." Helena argued.
"I agree," Selina, who has been quietly watching from the corner, chimed in. "This is a guy who got visibly antsy when some sexy girls in bikinis come up to him - I thought he was gay. But if he'd been... wedded to Talia Al Ghul all these times, that would make sense. He knew exactly where he stood, and what would come up if he screwed it up."
"Has Jason or Dick said anything of the Doc and Mama Wayne's reaction?" Helena asked.
"They seemed truly confused, a little apprehensive, but didn't seem to be opposed to the idea that Damian is Bruce's child. Dr Wayne said that a DNA test wouldn't be necessary, but Jason insisted it." Tim replied, and added a little absently a few heartbeats later. "But why would he, a physician with more specialties than a truck stop, would not question the biology of anyone claiming to be his biological descendant?"
Barbara glared at Tim, "excellent question, Tim. If my dad has someone coming out of the boonies saying he's related to me, the first thing dad would do is draw blood."
"They... don't care?" Dinah suggested. "Maybe the Wayne men were less... chaste than they appear?"
Barbara glared at her this time. "Of all the women Bruce Wayne has dated, I've only recorded a handful who would end up in a second date. Less than a handful who were actually mentioned beyond social media photos; and you know how I feel with social media photos: generic, unverifiable, and showoff-only. Dates with Bruce Wayne generally would start with the pick-up, dinner, and then some form of jewelry. I..." she looked at Selina and Helena, "you've both dated him at one point or the other."
Selina shrugged, "I went for a gala dinner, and was honestly there to scope the homeowner's safe, really. I wasn't interested in a follow-up date." she replied. "Helena?"
"Social arrangement. My people called his people and boom, we were on a red carpet." she elaborated. Helena was a part of a mafia family, until she decided that the mafia way would not be the best way to make Gotham a happy place for all, and donned the costume of the Huntress to hunt down wrongdoers. Barbara had decided to let her join to prevent her from going over the line and murder anyone out of overzealous-ness; but also in order to get a line-in into the mafia families.
"No second dates, either, huh?"
"No, I'll have to check, though. I think his people called me again, but I wasn't interested in a vapid playboy, even if he has more money than Jesus."
"Vicky Vale," Selina reminded. "She has had a... somewhat lengthy relationship with Bruce some years ago."
"Sooo... the next answer in our mystery could probably be answered by interviewing an investigative journalist." Tim commented.
"Oh, no..." Barbara grinned mischievously. "Not this investigative journalist. I know just the journalist to talk to when it comes to gossip among themselves."
Dinah snorted a laugh. "I thought you didn't like her."
"I liked Vale less," Barbara griped. "Plus, Vale is already getting news on Bruce's probable child; why shouldn't I send Lois Lane the allegations of the Bane Conspiracy?"
"Conspiracy with who?" Dinah asked curiously.
"Oh, the Waynes, of course, to get rid of the Court of Owls," Barbara smirked. "Why should we be the only ones racking our respective and collective brains when we can have someone else on the ground doing the grunt work?"
"Babs, you can be... pretty evil sometimes," Selina remarked. "I know there's got to be a reason why I like you."
"I'm also awesome with technology and can launder your ill-gotten money and make it legal and undetected." Barbara pointed out.
"Oh no, that's why I liked you." Helena quipped smirking. "Seriously, how many mob family can say their ill-gotten money is accountable by law?"
"As long as it is within the facets of the law, and so on and so forth... Anyway! Tim, you're quiet for more than two seconds. I'm always nervous when you're quiet."
"Just thinking..." Tim said, looking a little lost in his own brain. He often does that when he has at least a dozen scenarios running through his mind. Through the time of Barbara knowing him, Tim would probably be the only person whose claims of 'just thinking' wouldn't immediately be picked on by anybody.
"Care to share with the class, kitten?" Selina prompted.
"It's not fully mapped yet... but I was thinking. What if the Waynes aren't... didn't cooperate with Bane in order to destroy the Court of Owls, and they're literally being hostages in their own home? What if Bruce Wayne has predicted something like this could happen, and has gotten himself all prepared all the way to ten years ago when he wedded Talia Al Ghul? I mean, who would have had enough firepower to defeat Bane other than the Al Ghuls? Look at Jason," Tim pointed out. "He threw Bane out the window as if he was a fly. While Jason is as solid as a rock but isn't a metahuman - Bane is. He was assigned by Talia herself - out of Gotham - to protect and guide Damian-- why? What's so special about Jason Todd? Why did Talia choose him? Why didn't Bruce Wayne - at least - act shocked when Damian said he was his son? Surprised, sure. But not shocked or in denial.
"Who's gonna win if Bane turned out to be Dr Wayne's son? Who's gonna lose? What will they lose? Who is Bane accountable to? If none, who planted the idea of him being Dr Wayne's son? Because from what I've read about him, he was born and raised in a prison with his mother - no mention of a father. His mother was an insurgent of Hasaragua, fighting against US-condoned democracy. And while there was a record of Dr Wayne being there, there was no exact date and length of stay, because he was there privately and not as a part of Médecin sans Frontieres or something like that.
"What about Mrs Wayne? She wasn't a poor or uneducated woman, since she was a Kane. Society-wise, do you think she would have tolerated her husband's indiscretion, both then and now? Yet she kept quiet for nearly two months. She has a Ph.D. in psychiatry, and would she be the ones to keep quiet about DNA testing and all that? Personally, I don't think so. If my mother - a little 'lesser' society lady compared to Martha Kane-Wayne - ever got a word of a child that 'probably' got fathered by my dad, she would have demanded a divorce right away without bothering with a paternity test, sure. But my dad, who was also a society man, would have at least attempted to convince her that it was a mistake and/or it was a lie. What best method to decide a child's paternity than DNA test?
"The criminal front in general - especially the costumed criminals - has been pretty quiet since Bane eliminated the Court of Owls. Why? That's rather stupid since we know that the Court's Talons were the ones who made moves to 'discourage' the costumed freaks. Annnd... that's where I couldn't map out things further." Tim rambled.
"Keep talking, even half sentences are better than none, Timmy." Barbara prompted. Tim might have had a brain that worked a mile a minute, but he was still very young and would often get flustered with himself. Barbara, on the other hand, has an eidetic memory, and things Tim said tend to stick to her brain and would fill the gaps in any puzzles she might be thinking about. Even half sentences.
"Right, I do the fact spreads, you do the jigsaw-puzzling." Tim nodded. "The murders of Talia and Ra's Al Ghul. Jason said they were deliberately murdered in a way that they would never be able to be resurrected through the Lazarus Pit. The perpetrators would be the League of Shadows, a rogue splinter of the League of Assassins. Lead by Lady Shiva. Why? Why were they murdered? Why now and not - say - next year or last year? Who benefited by their death? Aaand... I'm done, for now, I think..."
"I... can feel a headache brewing," Dinah admitted. "You and your conspiracy theories." she rubbed Tim's head fondly. Tim gave her a half-smile, still trying to articulate the thoughts in his head.
"That's why we need him, he takes the most random input and makes a theory out of it, and some of them would actually make sense. I'll start a search string based on some of your questions. If you have more, don't hesitate to tell me, Tim." Barbara realized belatedly that her tone sounded dismissive, and turned to Tim. "Want me to call up for Chinese and powwow a little more?" she added.
Tim shook his head, still glaring blankly. "Thanks, I gotta go... I've some... things to look into. Thanks, Babs," he replied, ending it with a genuine smile as he got up.
"Want to come home with me, Kitten?" Selina asked, worry for Tim apparent on her normally-blank face.
"No, thanks, Ma. I gotta go back to the mansion, just in case, right?" Tim pointed out.
"Then Dinah should go with you," Selina decided.
"She's coming there later, right, aunt Dinah?" Tim asked. Dinah nodded.
"I'll get home with food, so don't worry about that, kiddo." she said. Tim waved them all and then walked out.
Once he was out of the door, Selina sighed. "Ah, young love..."
"Right? Remind me to check in on him before going to the House. I don't want to walk in on something and have him traumatized." Dinah agreed.
Barbara glared at them quizzically, and then at Helena, who shrugged. "Grayson said it first, I think. Our kitten is growing up. I just hope that Jason guy is worth his firsts..."
The memory of Tim gawking at Jason when he thought Barbara wasn't watching flashed in her mind.
Oh.
And then of Jason blatantly checking Tim out just before Oracle made her appearance, and at times when her Oracle projection was turned off.
"Oh boy," she sighed.
"That's about it in a nutshell. Good thing I've told him of the birds and the birds..." Selina grinned slyly.
"Millennial parenting at best, Ms Selina Kyle." Dinah grinned. "Come on, let's go patrol and induce the fear of goddesses to Gotham's low-lives before inducing maternal fear to our little kitten."
"...or to the big tabby. We'll see," Selina added, waving as she and Dinah walked out of the room.
Suddenly Barbara felt a little sorry for Jason. Just a tiny, teensy, weensy bit of sorry.

dick grayson x pregnant!reader part 3!
Part one! Part two! Part four!
You married into a family of hardened detectives. They go out every night to fight the worst of criminals. They are considered some of the most intelligent humans on the planet.
Every single one of them has a childlike fascination for the baby growing inside of you
You receive a dozen texts a day asking after yourself and your child
You’re pretty sure Jason got a pregnancy tracker app
You’ve taken to sending pictures of any progress to Alfred, Bruce, and Tim
Mostly once a week, just a picture of your growing belly and a snapshot of your pregnancy app (seeing your baby through the eyes of fruits and vegetables could be odd)
(Also, Alfred got hard copies of ultrasound photos. You had a sneaking suspicion photo albums were happening)
Dick loved seeing you as the pregnancy progressed
(There will be no body security issues with Dick around, okay this boy thinks you’re the most beautiful woman to walk the earth)
His hand does not leave your belly, and he is completely unashamed of this
Will he have a hand on your belly while you’re at a restaurant?
Yes. Yes he will
Will he have a hand on your belly at any and all galas you’re forced to attend?
Absolutely.
(He would stop if you asked him to, of course, he loves and respects you more than anything in the world)
On days when the baby just won’t stop kicking, he’ll massage your belly and sing Romani lullabies to the baby (it’s the most relaxing thing in the w o r l d)
Alright listen. I’m not saying Dick Grayson thinks you with a big baby bump is the sexiest thing in the world, but he totally thinks it’s the sexiest thing in the world okay
On nights when Bruce **forces asks you to go a gala, there is some action at home that night
Oh and he definitely tries all of your pregnancy cravings if you let him/ask him to (the boy tried to have some one night and he might’ve had his hand smacked)
He actually finds a couple really good and continues to eat it well after your pregnancy
(not-pregnant you is very grossed out)
His favourite thing is to put his head in your lap/against your belly and give baby kisses and let baby kick his head (and you’ll put your hand in his hair and he gets to interact with his lil baby and it makes him so happy)
Sees someone out and about with a crying baby and realizes he has no idea how to care for an infant
(He calls Bruce panicking. Bruce Definitely Does Not Laugh a Little Bit)
After that he picks up some parenting books and is occasionally horrified at parenting techniques
“It says you sometimes have to just let the baby cry themself to sleep. Can you even imagine oh my gosh.”
(He’s very upset at the thought of letting baby be unhappy. You have to bring his hands to your belly to feel baby kick to remind him that they’re okay)
Oh also he definitely makes you watch birthing videos (and promptly regrets everything, but his facial expressions are funny)
he watches ‘what to expect when you’re expecting’ a dozen times
(You think this is funny, but Tim is Very Concerned and sends him some good documentaries on actual pregnancy and parenting)
(Dick thinks his movie choice is just fine, thank you)
Oh by the way, Dick cries every time you listen to the heartbeat and do an ultrasound it’s the sweetest thing ever
At appointments, to which he goes every time, he holds your hand the whole time and he brings a list of questions both of you had (or sometimes Tim had) throughout the week
He just wants to take care of you the best he possibly can and he wants you and the baby to be healthy
When they do an ultrasound he’ll hold your hand tight and he gets so nervous (he just gets so scared that something is gonna be wrong) and when the heartbeat sounds throughout the room he kisses your hand every time it’s so cute
Also there is absolutely and ultrasound machine in the cave’s medbay and all of you play with it all the time
(Dick thinks it’s so much fun, to have all his siblings crowded around the ultrasound screen to see your baby that he helped make)
Sometimes, on rough nights, the ultrasound machine will get taken out with just you and Dick, to remind his nightmare-riddled brain that you’re okay, and baby is okay, and nightmares are just nightmares
And if Alfred finds you both asleep in the medbay, the ultrasound screen still displaying your lil baby, he doesn’t say anything (he may snap a picture for the photo album, though)
Your baby, like their father, is very expressive. At any time, when Dick comes into the room and starts talking, baby will start kicking
Dick thinks it’s so cool
(later in the night and the pregnancy, you threaten to tape his mouth shut)
His siblings also think this is cool. This may or may not lead to sibling rivalries of who can make the baby kick using only their voice
Damian, since the beginning of the pregnancy, has taken to sitting as close to you as he can so the baby can recognize his voice
He doesn’t quite get the reaction Dick does, but the baby definitely rolls over when Damian speaks
Damian is very intrigued by the fact that he can see the baby moving. Oftentimes, you’ll catch him watching your belly closely (which is kind of weird, but you know it’s only because he loves your baby and he loves you)
Speaking of the fam, anyone who does not have prior experience with pregnancy does a lot of research (they’re heroes, so they think it’s good to know anyways, but really if anything happens while they’re with you they want to know what’s happening and be able to help you as much as possible)
To the surprise of everyone, Jason knows a good amount about babies and pregnancy
Which is a shock, but very helpful closer to your due date (everyone gets antsy later in the pregnancy. A strong kick will lead to the whole room panicking. Having Jason tell everyone to “calm the hell down” was nice)
Speaking of Jason, he’s around more since the pregnancy was announced
Not obviously, but he seemed to need books from the Wayne library more often
He also seemed to read in the same room as you more and more.
He was probably with you when you went into labor (but that’s another story)
Cass also seemed to be lurking nearby more frequently.
Occasionally she would come out of the shadows to sit next to your feet. If no one was beside you you’d offer her a seat.
Sometimes she’d decline, but most often she’d take it, curling up next to you (but remaining alert, as if she expected danger.)
On the days she sat next to you her hand would hover in a silent question (always ask before you touch a pregnant woman’s belly!!)
There were hardly any times you’d tell her no. She’d put her hand gently over the most prominent part of your belly, stroking it softly.
Oftentimes the baby would roll over, which made Cass absolutely giddy. She loved to see the baby move.

“Alright, so tonight is going to be fairly standard. Arkham is silent, and there’s no solid leads on what any of the free rogues might be up to. Harley is sick and Ivy is stuck at home taking care of her, so they aren’t going to be up to anything on either side of the law for a few days. Catwoman is the only person we’d have to look out for right now, but her kleptomania has taken her out of the city for a change,” Barbara was typing away at the large Batcomputer keyboard as she brought all of the Gotham vigilantes up to speed on what to expect for patrol that night. “So, Red Hood and Black Bat will take the Narrows and surrounding area patrol route like usual. Nightwing and Batgirl, Upper east side and fashion district patrol route. Red Robin, you’re taking the route that passes city hall and through Old Gotham and Diamond District, and if you don’t throw a fit maybe you can take Robin with you. Batman, crime alley and Newtown patrol. Robin or no Robin, pick your poison,” the redhead offered, finally spinning her wheelchair around to look at everyone. “We’ll be pretty spread out tonight, but like I said, there’s nothing. No whispers of anything planned on the dark web, no news from any of the rogues, Blackgate and Arkham are, dare I say, peaceful right now. But if you see anything, I’ll redirect you guys so you can get backup ASAP.”
This was a rare night. Usually there was at least a plot or red flag to investigate, but not that night. For some reason, it seemed like Gotham had gotten a dose of sanity that it had been desperately missing.
“Actually,” Alfred took that moment to walk in, a slight pep to his step that seemed to catch everyone’s attention. “I do have news. Batman, you of course know that I have been keeping a close eye on Paris’s situation as per your orders, yes?”
Bruce, who had already been inching towards the batmobile none too subtly, suddenly stood stock still and slowly turned to look at his father figure. He could feel the eyes of his many children honing in on him, silent questions behind those orbs.
“Of course, I remember,” he confirmed cautiously. “You haven’t had an update for me in years.”
Years? Tim furrowed his eyebrows. That meant this had to be something that stretched very far back, because everything that Batman tried to keep secret from him since he became Robin had already been outed. Right? Well, he supposed there was always the possibility that Bruce could have snuck something by, but not a large one. Between him and Oracle, any new secrets he tried to squirrel away were unearthed pretty swiftly. So, most likely this was something Bruce had asked Alfred to keep an eye on at least back when Jason was still Robin. Maybe even further back than that.
“Yes, well you wouldn’t have appreciated any prior updates, sir,” Alfred said pointedly, raising an eyebrow. He always would be the one to understand Bruce Wayne and Batman the best out of all of them. “But this is a big one. I used our inside contact to check up on the Paris situation like I do every month, and this came up,” Alfred pulled out a remote from his pocket and clicked it at the computer, triggering it to bring up an article that likely had been hidden and only accessible via that remote signal. If Barbara had had any reason to check for hidden files she would have found it easily, but Alfred was good at never giving any hints as to when he was hiding something.
But what was on the computer was far more interesting than the all-too-familiar, cryptid ways of Alfred Pennyworth.
Because it was a news article from an online Paris newspaper. It was still in untranslated French, but nobody in that room had any trouble reading it. It was dated to have been published two weeks earlier.
On the cover picture for the article was a man that everybody also recognized, being high-profile and extremely influential in the fashion industry. Most of them had even met the man at least once, the aging Gabriel Agreste. In his early seventies, it was odd to see the man being herded into a police vehicle. He didn’t seem all that threatening, though he still struck an oddly intimidating figure with his cold glare and straight back. Being herded behind him was a woman of around Bruce’s own age, with long brown hair in several elaborate braids. Her dark, almost muddy green eyes bore into the camera and a snarl was on her face. Lila Rossi, the model that had been employed under Agreste for quite some years now and had turned into a sort of reality TV celebrity after she got too old to be hired for as many modeling gigs. She was known as highly untrustworthy, a lie monger and the most infamous gossip in the celebrity world. The headline for the article was;
“THE PARISIAN NIGHTMARE FINALLY OVER! AFTER THIRTY YEARS OF TORMENT, THE HAWKMOTHS OF PAST AND PRESENT HAVE BEEN ARRESTED.”
Underneath that title picture was another, this one detailing the Parisian heroes to stop Hawkmoth, who had been replaced years ago by his female counterpart Monarch, a play on the Monarch Butterfly. The Heroes, on the other hand, had remained mostly the same after the infamous confusion of the early years of Hawkmoth’s reign of terror, where Ladybug had temporarily started adding hero after hero to the team before mysteriously and suddenly retiring almost all of them.
On the right was Ladybug, who stood proud with her arms crossed and a somber gaze directed towards the two unmasked villains. On the left was Chat Noir, in a weird black leather costume that was like a bizzare yet fashionable meld of DiscoWing and the classic Batman uniform. Minus a cape or cowl, of course. Standing behind them, all fanned out, were the last four members of their team. Viperion, in a dark teal snake-themed costume. Ryuuko, standing next to him in a black and red ensemble with her elemental symbol proudly on her chest. Bunnyx, in her bright baby blue and white, and lastly the imperious Stinger behind them in her black outfit with gold accents.
As everyone but Alfred and Bruce read the article and examined the photos as quickly as they could, the eldest vigilante in the room slowly removed his cowl. His eyes were wide, disbelieving as they stared only at the two pictures on the screen and didn’t pay any heed to the article itself.
“Thirty years,” Jason remarked, turning to face Bruce angrily. “Paris has been under attack by magical madmen for thirty years, and you never told us? We knew nothing about this, and this has been going on since before us. Since before you, even,” he waved a hand at the screen angrily. “You know that they have been under attack since before Batman was even a thing, and you never said anything? We could have helped! The league could have—“
“Been a liability,” Bruce interrupted, but it was the uncharacteristic softness to his tone that ultimately shut Jason up and attracted everyone else’s rapid attention. “The league knows. The founding members, anyway. It was something I briefed them on back when we first founded the League, but we were careful to keep any mention of it off of any electronic system. The magic behind the attacks stopped any word of the terrorism from getting out through normal means. We pretended to put the JLE in Paris, when really they are centered miles out of city limits and never set foot inside Paris’s boundaries.”
“Why?” Dick asked, his own mask off so that he could glare into Bruce’s eyes without it obscuring his expression at all. He wasn’t explosively angry like Jason, but it was clear that Dick wasn’t happy either. “They all look to be your age, Bruce. Which means they’ve been fighting HawkMoth since they were teenagers, on their own, since before there was any Justice League or very many other established heroes at all to provide backup. And I get that HawkMoth and Monarch seem to have controlled or fed off negative emotions and a lot of us would have been liabilities, but there are Leaguers who have extreme control over their emotions. You could have gone. Or J’onn, you could have even sent Tim. Anybody to help even a little.”
“Paris isn’t my city, it’s Ladybug’s city. The League and most metahuman heroes stay out of Gotham because I asked them too, but I am not the first to have the idea that keeping other heroes out of a volatile city can be beneficial for damage control. Ladybug herself told me not to allow any interference in the situation,” Bruce braced himself against the back of one of their metal debriefing chairs, leaning forward so it could take most of his weight. That, and the way he never looked away from the photos displayed on the computer, tipped off everyone else that Bruce might not have stayed uninvolved willingly. That he had a deeper connection to the whole Paris mess than just keeping a shrewd eye on a possible issue.
“You know Ladybug?” Tim decides to speak up, leaning back against the desk that housed the batcomputer keyboard. His voice was decidedly softer than that of his elder brothers’.
Bruce nodded, still in an odd partial trance. “We met when I was on a trip to Paris, before I became Batman. It was twenty-three years ago, I was eighteen and found out the hard way about the situation that the rest of the world was somehow oblivious to. I was able to meet Ladybug during one of her patrols, and confronted her. Even after I became Batman two years later, she refused any help. It wasn’t until about a year before I adopted Dick that I finally decided I couldn’t keep worrying about a situation and people that I wasn’t being allowed to help, so I told Alfred to use the sources that Ladybug had given me back when we first met to check in on the situation every month or two. I know that it was not the best decision, making Alfred do what I couldn’t bring myself to, but by the time I adopted Dick I had mostly forgotten about it. I was too worried about trying to figure out how to raise a kid and then deal with raising a vigilante kid after that, for the first time.”
Silence reigned for a while. This was, essentially, news that Bruce had been waiting to hear for over twenty years. An outcome that he had been barred from being a part of. Talk about bittersweet, especially when Bruce seemed so passionate about wanting to have helped. Probably too guilty about not being allowed to.
In the end, it was Damian who made the connection between this news and his father’s foreign mood and behavior first. Or at least, he was the first to vocalize it. Cass probably noticed it sooner.
“You have feelings for Ladybug,” Damian somehow managed to make the declaration sound like a reprimand. “I admit, she is likely much better of a suitor for you than that mangy cat, but I hardly think that trying to start courting her again after so long apart is reasonable. She could have changed from—“
“I know, Damian,” Bruce’s knuckles were white from how tightly he was gripping the chair. “Trust me, I have spent more than enough hours contemplating calling her again to catch up, but I knew it was best to stay away. I had grown busy with Batman and the League anyway, and adding the time difference on there was no way any relationship between us would have been feasible.”
“So you cut yourself off from even being her friend. Which, might I remind you, I heavily advised against,” Alfred finally cut back into the conversation, hands clasped behind his back. “The two of you had maintained a perfectly stable long distance friendship for over five years, and I still consider the day you cut her off to be one of your stupidest mistakes, master Bruce. On an unrelated note, I received a call from the designer that you always commission your more high-fashion suits from, sir. She is coming to Gotham for a time, and I gave her an invitation to come visit for dinner tomorrow. I hope you don’t mind.” With that said, Alfred turned on his heel and walked away.
“That man never raises his voice, but somehow still makes you feel like absolute shit when he gets mad,” Stephanie mused aloud when the butler had left, earning silent nods from everyone else.
“How are you still alive, Father?” Damian asked, raising an eyebrow over one vibrant green eye. “If you cut off Ladybug only to continue to commission the person that I assume is her civilian identity on a regular basis, how has that idiocy not blended into the rest of your life?”
“It has,” Jason added in, always up for a game of Rag on Bruce. “He’s just always had this annoying ability of surviving even the shittiest situations he ends up in. It’s like he has plot armor or something.”
Bruce only grunted, pulling his cowl back on. “Patrol. Robin, you’re with Red Robin today. Don’t kill each other.”
“Oh no, I want to live to see the girl you’ve apparently been crushing on since you were a teenager,” Tim said as he ambled over to his motorcycle. “Seeing THAT reunion is gonna be way better than picking another fight with Demon Spawn.”
“Tt.”
—*—*—*—*—*
“Your tie won’t get any straighter,” Barbara teased Bruce, watching as he fiddled with the tie around his throat for the millionth time in just the past ten minutes. Alfred had made sure that he couldn’t escape this, even going so far as benching Batman for the night.
And to make matters worse, it was still far too early for patrol so all the Wayne kids were present. Stephanie had other obligations to see to, unfortunately, but other than her even Jason had come over to the manor to see the fallout.
“Master Bruce, she is here,” Alfred’s voice cut through the almost palpable nerves emanating from the usually stoic or charismatic man. Batman was nowhere to be seen at the moment, but neither was Playboy Billionaire Brucie Wayne. No, this was Bruce Wayne, as genuine as anybody could see him. And more nervous than his kids had ever witnessed.
The door was opened, and in stepped someone that defied any of the Batkid’s preconceptions. They were expecting someone suave, sophisticated, with hard-earned muscle trying to hide under her skin. Like a Wonder Woman type of person, bursting with strength except for when they made an effort to disguise it. But that was not what they got. No suave, sophisticated bachelorette of a businesswoman and reputable fashion designer. No goddess-masquerading-as-a-human. Not even a femme fatale like Selina Kyle or most of Batman’s exes.
But there was a distinct observation that the kids made the moment they saw her.
Black hair, so dark that it seemed to reflect blue in the light, and clear blue eyes that were dark, vibrant, and seemed to glow with intelligence and humor, with just the slightest gray tones that hid in them grim experiences and disillusion.
She had a smile that was eerily similar to Dick’s when she laid eyes on the family and let it spread across her face. It was like the warmth of the sun, and instantly made the impersonal foyer feel cozy and welcoming. But the sharpness in her eyes as she scanned over all the people gathered, more than she expected if her eyebrow raise was any indication, was just like Tim. Too much like Tim.
She came to a stop a few feet away from the Wayne clan, and rested one hand on her waist as she popped her hip out. Jason’s attitude.
Her hair was up in a simple but elegant bun, with a braid curling around the base of it. She was small, about five foot four if their estimates were correct, and the sleek sleeves of her midnight blue dress simultaneously emphasized and disguised the lithe, corded muscle mass that seemed to flow smoothly down her arms. Not a brawler’s muscle, but an acrobat or gymnast’s. The delicate silver embroidery along the sleeves and trim of her dress, and curling around her waist like a belt of thread, was in actuality a string of bats in various flight poses interspersed with silver swirls and tiny ladybugs. Her own playful personality, it seemed, something innocent and daring and subtle all at once that didn’t quite fit any of the kids, it was solely hers.
“I am Marinette Dupain-Cheng,” the woman finally introduced herself, holding out her hand even as her radiant smile stayed firmly in place. When her eyes found Bruce again, they stayed there. “An old friend of your father’s. And by the way, Bruce. If you ever cut contact with me again without ever explaining yourself, I will not stay twiddling my thumbs in some other city again. I will hunt you down and get you to tell me what exactly possessed you to freeze me out, and only if it is some really good reasoning will I let you off without giving you a remedial lesson in the importance of dodging.”
Damian’s fire.
Dick looked over at Bruce, then at Marinette. She caught his eye, nodded and winked, and looked back to her old friend.
“But I do have to say, this looks suspiciously like a family we might have had if you had ever gotten up the courage to ask me out all those years ago instead of not realizing that I never specifically forbade you from visiting Paris, only heroes in general. You’re lucky I’m patient. I spent thirty years waiting to get back the Butterfly Miraculous and lock those two up for good, but making me wait twenty years to finally confess to you is a bit much, don’t you think? And adopting kids with only blue eyes and black hair is a bit on the nose, even for you.”
Scratch that, Damian’s loyalty.
Bruce really had adopted kids that reminded him of Marinette in some way, and the way he would grin or smile at Damian when he was displaying his usually subtle but steady loyalty, or the way that Bruce had almost unending tolerance for Damian’s stubbornness, it all started to make sense.
Bruce had tried building a family around the one he imagined he could have had with Marinette.
“Mari—“
“Nope. You’ve made me wait this long, you don’t even get a hug until after dinner. Then we can catch up, and you’ll take me out to dinner in a few days,” suddenly what was happening seemed to creep up on the woman, and she fidgeted. Sheepishness rose to her face, and she winced at her own words. But damn, she had imagined this day for so long, she couldn’t help but get assertive! “I mean, if you want to. I get it if you lost interest in dating me, but—“
“How about I set up a private dinner on the top of Wayne enterprises, day after tomorrow. We can even do a patrol afterwards if you’re up to it.”
His sons all facepalmed, some inwardly and some outwardly. Barbara groaned and Cass pinched the bridge of her nose. But, to their astonishment, Marinette’s smile just came back full force.
“Aww, you know I can’t resist the offer of a patrol. But just one, I want to enjoy some time off now that I’m not perpetually on-call as Paris’s main hero.”
Bruce finally grinned back, his eyes soft for the first time in a while that wasn’t directed at his kids. In way that they had never been soft towards Selina or most of his past flings.
“Just one patrol, then.”
“Sounds like a date.”
First attempt to upload this goofed and deleted the first part, so here is attempt number two! Again, Brucinette has been invading my dreams.
Apparently there is a part 2 now.

May Flowers Challenge Day 5
Prompt: “I’ll take the couch” requested by Anon
Pairing: Batmom & Batboys
Word count: 1.2k
Warnings: None
“It looked a lot bigger online. Great choice, ma.”
Shooting Jason a look, he quickly shut up and lost the smirk. He wasn’t wrong, but you didn’t need it pointed out either. The cabin you’d booked for this weekend wasn’t technically small by most standards, but with you plus four boys, two bedrooms were hardly enough. The website had said four bedrooms, and in the photos, they’d all looked amazing, but now you were here, the space meant to be making up the final two rooms...was completely empty. No beds, no blankets, not even a rug. Just bare wood.
“B’s gonna be pissed when you tell him,” Dick chimed in, standing next to you in the doorway that looked into one of the despairingly empty spots.
“Yep.”
“What do you want to do?”
You sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose. What did you want to do? It was an impromptu trip sure, so it wasn’t like you had a months-long worth of hope dashed, but this was the first time you’d gotten the boys away in forever, and who knew when Gotham would be quiet enough again? You’d just wanted to spend a couple of days with your sons someplace open and quiet where they could fish and swim and relax for once in their lives.
Dammit, you didn’t stay married to the Bat with no stubborn streak.
“We’ll make do with what we have,” you said, turning back to face the living room and the rest of the boys. “You four take the bedrooms, work out yourselves who you want to share with. I’ll take the couch.”
Immediately there was a chorus of objections against the plan, all of them centring around you not having a bed. Holding up a hand, you silenced them. “There’s four of you, and one of me.”
“One of us could share the bed with you,” said Jay.
“We’ll take it in turns,” Tim added.
You smiled. “I’m not going to make any of you choose who gets the bed and who doesn’t. I’ve slept in far worse places, as you all know, and I’m perfectly capable of crashing on a couch for two nights. That’s final.”
None of them look convinced, but they also knew better than to continue arguing.
“Alright. C’mon, let’s get the stuff in from the car. We’ve got the day to enjoy.”
And it was a great day.
The weather was perfect for the trip. Sunny and warm it meant they could spend as much time outside as they wanted. You took up a spot on the patio with a cold glass of lemonade and a book you’d bought months ago and had yet to start. Though truth be told, you still didn’t actually get much reading done, instead only pretending to so you could watch your boys.
Jay was sitting under a tree by the lake, whittling away at a discarded piece of wood he’d found.
Damian was in a similar position, though he was laying on the grass, binoculars raised and occasionally scribbling down notes as he bird watched.
Tim was in the lake, floating on his back as he enjoyed the summer day.
Dick...was being Dick. He found the highest tree closest to the lake as possible and triple back-flipped into it, startling Tim from his relaxation and causing a water battle to erupt.
You couldn’t remember the last time any of them had looked so contented and it was difficult to tear your eyes away, wanting to commit every second of it to memory. With what you all did, every single day was a danger, and you knew all too well that any day could be the last for any of you. Looking back at Jason, your heart-ached. It had been years but that was still a pain you felt too keenly. So having them now, like this, it was what all of you needed, you thought. Your only wish was that Bruce had been able to come to, but someone had needed to stay behind in Gotham. You’d made him promise that he’d do something similar with you soon though.
Night came around, and the boys decided that they were going to build a campfire to cook food over. It took longer than necessary with all the bickering over how to do it right, but eventually, they got there and the food was finally cooked. It certainly wasn’t up to Alfred’s standards, but it was pretty damned good. It was discovered that neither Tim or Damian had roasted marshmallows before, so you were treated to the sight of watching Jason and Dick take it upon themselves to give a tutorial. It went surprisingly well. Dick only came close to catching fire once. Which really was a miracle.
Every so often though, one of them would disappear back inside, claiming a bathroom break or they just wanted to get a drink. But you knew them better. They were up to something.
That something was revealed when it finally got cold enough to call it a night and you headed back in.
The living room had been transformed. The couch and armchairs had been hidden, masked by what looked to be all the blankets in the place, propped up and placed perfectly to create a-
“A blanket fort? That’s what you’ve been up to?”
“A giant blanket fort, Ma.”
“For all of us,” said Tim.
You turned around to look at them, raising an eyebrow in question.
“We decided that we didn’t want you to sleep alone,” Dick answered, “so we got together to build this-”
“Giant blanket fort,” Jason reiterated.
“Giant blanket fort,” you echoed, approaching the structure and locating the entrance. It was even better on the inside. Filled with piles of pillows and even more blankets, it was soft and comfy and they’d even managed to string up some lights, though where they got them from, you had no idea. At the back was a laptop, and a quick glance at the screen told you it was already connected to the large TV the cabin homed, ready to watch from the comfort of the fort.
You grinned, settling back as the boys climbed in after, two settling on either side. “This is amazing! Thank you.”
“You do so much for us, Mom. You look after us, make sure we’re okay.”
“That we’re eating properly.”
“You’ve loved each one of us from the moment Bruce brought us home,” Dick said over Tim’s head.
“And have always continued to love us even when our actions have gone against your will or ideals,” Damian added.
“You went through all the effort of getting us out here, we wanted to do something in return.”
“Just to say we love you too, Ma.”
Jason finished their little speech, and you had to rub your hand over your face quickly to wipe away the tears that threatened to fall. “You’re perfect, all of you. I could have never asked for better sons.”
Somehow, they managed to squish in close enough to hug and for you to hug them back. Tim was the first to pull away, squirming to get to the laptop and put on the movie he’d selected. It was your favorite, of course. It was a tight squeeze, despite the size, but you managed it with Damian half on top of you and Tim cuddling close to your other side with Dick and Jay laying on the outer edges.
One by one they fell asleep, until you were the last one awake. The credits rolled and you watched the sleeping figures around you. It was impossible to describe the happiness that swelled in your chest.
Maybe the cabin was perfect after all.
Like what you read? Consider buying me a coffee! (I’ll love you forever!)

The Soulmate AU [2]
Maribat by @ozmav
I didn't get much into the first part about their relationship (of the couple and with other people), so here's a post about it.
DAMIAN:
At 8, Damian, influenced by Marinette, manages to escape from the League to Batfam.
Not before stopping by to finally meet the girl in person. Of course.
Marinette's parents are relieved to know her little girl's soulmate, but also in a panic, as he has no shame in talking about his life with the League of Assassins.
"I don't want to be secret between us, since one day Marinette and I are getting married."
They accept. Bad. But they accept and try to be understanding.
He spends a week living with the Dupain-Cheng before deciding it was time to meet his father.
Marinette is sad. One week was too little and she wanted him safe by her side, not in a place where she could do nothing to help.
She attaches a discreet bracelet to the boy's wrist, claiming to be a lucky charm, and shows an equal resting on her pale wrist.
They say goodbye.
When Damian arrives in Gotham and meets Bruce, the man seems not at all surprised to learn that he had a son and that this son was coming to stay.
(The League and Talia had gone looking for Damian in Gotham, but were unable to find him.)
"Typical. She thinks she can predict my movements. I'm much smarter than that.” Damian snorts contemptuously and Mari laughs softly beside him.
She was by his side the whole trip. Only disappearing when she slept.
His relationship with Bruce and his brothers had a rocky beginning.
Damian was very closed and volatile.
Shoot first, ask questions later.
But our strawberry shortcake aka Marinette, with Alfred's help (even though the man didn't know he was helping her) managed to soften him enough to make things work.
Jonathan and Damian meet for the first time on duty.
Batman and Robin on patrol when Superman appears with Superboy and is dislike at first glance.
What changes after they meet again at school and Jonathan remembers Damian through Adrien's memories.
Best Friends Distributing Chaos Through Metropolis ™
He lives in Gotham with his father and siblings until he is 15, when he decides that living away from his soulmate is no longer working and signs up for an exchange in Paris.
MARINETTE:
Despite having a soulmate trained to be a assassin, she lived a normal, sweet childhood.
She had classmates, but also had her best friends: Kim and Sabrina.
Mari also becomes friends with Adrien at six.
The two know each other thanks to a visit from the Agreste family to the Dupain-Cheng bakery.
It is instant friendship! And families encourage both.
(Gabriel more for not wanting Adrien too close to Chloe).
Because soulmates are rare, she has been harassed by people (other children and adults)
Which didn't last long, because it was no wonder, she was Damian Al-Ghul Wayne's soulmate.
Marinette never depended on Damian for dangerous skills.
Things like steal, act, observe and gymnastics.
She was a very observant child, able to understand things that not even her parents were capable of before she pointed out the evidence.
She still wants to be a designer, this time with Gabriel's support.
But there was also a part (she didn't know if it was because of Damian) that simply wanted to fight off the Paris criminals.
The relationship with her parents is the best. They don't hide anything from each other because trust is a serious thing in this family.
When Damian goes to Paris and they meet in person for the first time, she makes a point of feeding him sweets, since his diet in the League was very strict.
She introduced Damian to Sabrina, Adrien and Kim at a picnic with the families.
(To Adrien's soulmate too and it was a mess)
At 9, she convinces Emilie that Adrien would learn much more from studying at a school like her.
They go to school together and she teaches Adrien some ways to fight that her parents wouldn't approve of, but she knew would be useful in the future.
Mari is fucking smart.
She and Adrien are fucking scary together.
Chloe avoids them even if Sabrina is their friend.
Everyone thinks she and Adrien are soulmates (except Sabrina and Kim, who had already met Damian).
At thirteen, on the first day of school a drunk man broke into the school assaulting one of the teachers who tried to kindly ask him to leave...
That day was marked "Never mess with Marinette Dupain-Cheng."
JONATHAN:
He lived part of his childhood living on his grandparents' farm.
He always knew who his father and mother were, so being half alien wasn't something he didn't know about.
No one really believed that he had a soulmate (even if his eyes proved otherwise) because of his alien heritage.
He learned Kryptonian as he grew older.
As well as his powers and abilities.
After his parents decide to stop hiding, they move to Metropolis and Jon starts studying at a private school.
The signs of his soulmate only became evident after Jonathan recognized the face and model names on billboards.
And he had never been interested in modeling or the fashion world.
Then came the dreams.
Dreams of photo shoot, a green-eyed blonde woman and a stern-looking skinny man. Both French.
The first thought had been that he was going crazy.
The second, that he was developing a new power.
This continued until the "Swap" and he understood what was going on.
He and Adrien become best friends (first).
His classmates liked to tease him that Jonathan spent so much time “talking to himself”
His parents found the boy's innocent joy so cute.
He “introduces” Adrien to his parents and the boy blushes with Lois's attention.
Clark too, since please, it was Superman there.
Romantic feelings only come at 10 (for both), but they only start dating at 13.
Damian is his best friend, since he understands his situation very well.
He is the one who puts the idea in Damian's mind to take the exchange in Paris.
Convince the parents is a little harder than Bruce Wayne, but he manages.
Imagine the disaster that will be Paris in the hands of these four.
ADRIEN:
Having met Marinette much earlier than in canon and becoming her best friend, he has a drastic change of character here.
Although his pacifist side remains firm, it is not as strong as in canon.
Jonathan's bonus for being his soul mate as well, as it directly affects his behavior.
Influenced by Marinette, he is not taken in by Chloe's crazy and childish ideas
He even tries to help the girl, knowing that her bad behavior was more to draw attention, since her parents were far from exemplary parents, but she runs away from him as soon as she finds out that he is friends with Mari.
He makes other friends, but none compare to Marinette, Jonathan and Damian.
Learning to fight and growing a backbone was something he enjoyed, but baking was his passion.
Mr. Dupain really wanted to be able to adopt the boy.
He cried when he could see Jonathan for the first time.
When his mother dies in a car accident, he is 12 years old.
Adrien goes into shock.
He didn't eat, didn't talk, didn't sleep.
Jonathan was panicking that they were in distant countries, different continents.
Adrien did not react.
It went on like this until Marinette decided that was enough of it and broke into the Agreste mansion, sparing not even a glance at Gabriel.
Adrien was forced to shower, put on clean clothes, comb the hair, eat, brush the teeth and cry.
Yes, forced to cry.
Marinette knew that in order for him to get out of the nest of dark thoughts (which Jonathan had warned her), he needed to vent all that was trapped.
The day had been long, the night even more so.
It took months, but he managed to return to normal gradually. With the help of his friends, Adrien was able to suffer his grief in the least painful way possible.
When Gabriel decides it's best for Adrien to be home schooled again and fill the boy's schedule with photo essays, Marinette gets angry.
Or maybe it was Damian. Or both together. Anyway,
When Gabriel decides to be a dick, Marinette threatens to report the man to the police for child exploitation.
He tries to dissuade Marinette by threatening her back, but Adrien supports her and confronts his father.
OTHER THINGS:
Because of Adrien's “rebellion”, Gabriel decides to do nothing at the moment, but devises plans to change that.
What he doesn't know is that Marinette, with Damian's help, Jonathan, her parents, is two steps ahead of him. Waiting for his first slip.
Damian does not introduce Marinette to Batfam, he avoids, but the girl insists until one day she introduces herself and he just stands by his arms crossed and annoyed.
Jason and Marinette become best friends for Damian's chagrin and Bruce's happiness.
(Jason was having a hard time... and Marinette was being the light at the end of the tunnel for Bruce.)
The first time they make the "Swap" at Wayne Mansion, everyone is horrified to watch Damian spin happily around the kitchen, all smiles, while decorating Batfam-themed cupcakes.
Timothy had recorded and sent it to all family friends.
When Gabriel tries to force Adrien to do a late-night photo shoot on a school day, Jonathan curses the man with all the low vocabulary he has learned living on the farm.
His parents are not proud to find the boy at 3am cursing loudly in the kitchen, but understand his frustration.
Adrien is the one who anchors Jonathan's powers, so he doesn't lose too much control.
Alya and Lila will die a slow and painful death in this au.
And I say that not for Damian but for Tikki.
I will make one for the kwamis and soon I will post the fanfiction!

The Red Hoods Protègè chapter 21

Her feet tapped against the floor, her heart beating rapidly in her chest.
There she sat in the family room, papers shattered around her like a hurricane came through. She sat listening to one of the manigorrs for the fundraiser, which was in only 2 days.
“Mhm, yes he’ll be attending.” She said, her voice clear despite her nerves. “And what about your father?” The man asks. Her heart sinks into her stomach at his question. “No, my father won’t be making it sadly.”
“Okay thank you so much sir and have an amazing day.” “You as well miss Todd.” She hung up the phone, slumping back into the now uncomfortable couch. Her hands rubbed at her eyes, a headache that she tried ignoring biting back.
“And here I thought I had the best customer service voice.” She jumped slightly at hearing the voice, looking up and seeing Tim in the door, a smirk on his face. “Screw you.” She chuckled, making him laugh as he sat beside her.
He put his arm over her shoulder, smiling as she curled her head into his chest. He rubbed his fingers into her hair, noting the tangles that she had from pulling the strands.
“What’s on your mind?” He asks, breaking her out of her trance. “I’m just really overwhelmed with all of this. I mean just 4 years ago, I wasn’t allowed out of my house and nobody but my parents knew I existed. Now millions of people do, and I’m hosting a huge event in just under 2 days.” She groans, rubbing her eyes again. “Then tell me what’s eating you up.” “How did you-“ “really?” He chuckles, making her smile. She takes in a deep breath. “What if, what if I screw up? I say something wrong, I miss something, What if I didn’t do something right and I’m eaten up again by the media? What if I’m not good to do this?” She says, her voice cracking towards the end.
Tim sighs, running his fingers through her hair again. “What is your reason for doing this?” “To help people.” “Are you doing this for selfish reasons, to gain a better presence in the media?” “Of course not.” Tim smiles at her, “sandy, you are one of the most caring, loving, selfless, just overall one of the most amazing people I know. You have the biggest hearts I’ve ever seen. Your will and drive to help those in need well surpasses anything I and the others have done in our lives put together. I promise, when you get up there with your speech, you’ll move countless people, and change so many lives. And that’s just because it’s coming from you. I promise, everything will work out.” Tears spilled down her cheeks at his words, not even trying to wipe them. She reaches up, wrapping him in a tight hug. “Thank you.”
“Mister Wayne can you sign this for me?” A man asks, shoving a paper into his face. Bruce smiles as he scribbled his name into the paper, barley reading what it said.
People ran around the large room, setting up tables and such.
He looked over to his left, seeing Sandy standing as she signed papers herself, talking to some of the helpers. He had a tray of cookies that she had baked, handing them to each of the workers with a smile.
It was sweet, seeing just how caring she was towards each of them, giving her full attention to each person speaking, never interrupting or being rude.
He knew from the moment he met her, she had a kind heart, even stronger than his own. He could see how much she truly wanted to help everyone. Even at times when she was angry, she always had their heart in mind. It was a shame how things had become between her and his son.
Looking back, he saw how she rubbed off of him, how just her kind nature changed Damian. He wasn’t so short with everyone, wasn’t so rude or blunt. He had a kindness to him that bruce had only dreamed of for the young man. He truly saw how much she helped him to show kindness and love. If only he wasn’t so set in his beliefs that sadly Bruce gave him, he could be happy again.
Bruce felt a tap on his shoulder, turning around and seeing her. He saw only 2 cookies were left, a smile on her face as she hands him one. “I know you didn’t get any, so I saved the last two for us.” He smiled at this. “I’m good-“ “Bruce, I know you live off of protein and brooding, but one cookie won’t kill you.” She scolds, a hint of laughter in her tone. He smiles as he rolls his eyes, grabbing for one. He took a small bite, his eyes widening at the taste. “These taste just like-“ “your moms, I know. And actually, alfred wasn’t the one who taught it to me.” He looks at her in question, urging her to continue. “My dad, he learned it from Alfred, and then one night he taught me how to make them.” E chuckles at this, remembering when he had first made them for him and Alfred. The bright smile on his face when he ran into Bruce’s office with a tray of them. They were overcooked, resembling the feel of hockey pucks. But Bruce was so happy to see how happy the young boy was, he ate it with a smile.
“Your dads always been amazing at cooking, surprised he still likes doing it after all these years.” She smiles at this. “It’s one of our favorite things to do together. It’s, one of the first things that helped us bond. My dad’s amazing.” A pain stings in his heart at her tone, the sadness evident in her voice. “That he is. After everything that’s happened, I’m so happy and proud of the kind of father he’s become. The amount of love he has for you, makes me wish i had done for him. You’re his entire world.” A tear gathers in his eye, quickly blinking it away. “I know, he’s the greatest thing to happen to me. He’s, got such a big heart. After everything that’s happened to him, you’d expect him to be cold, heartless, and cruel. But, he isn’t. He’s one of the kindest people I know. I love him, so much.” She wipes away a tear falling down her cheek. “It sucks that, he can’t make it tomorrow.” She says, another tear falling from her eye. “Just know, he’s not doing it because he wants to. He’s, terrified. He hasn’t been in the spotlight in a decade. I know he would give anything to make it.” “Oh I know. When he told me, it sounded like he shot himself in the foot. I could hear how painful it was for him. But, I understand why. It’s terrifying for me. I can’t imagine how he must feel. After being ‘dead’ for a decade, to having everyone finding out you’re alive, it’s terrifying. I’m not mad or upset at him. I just wish I had him there. After all, he’s what’s driving me to do this.” Bruce smiles at her words, putting his hand on her shoulder. “And he’s gonna be watching, being the proudest dad there’s ever been.”
The room was packed, people talking filling the entire room.
Everyone with a name or money was there, from polititons, to ceos, to just anyone who could make it were there.
But nobody knew what the night was for. Bruce was notorious for hosting a gala whenever, so it wasn’t a shock when they were invited. But what was a shock, was it wasn’t his gala. No, it was hers.
Everyone there knew who the young girl was, having seen her interview plastered on every screen and paper for weeks.
Some wondered if it was her birthday, but that was shot down when her birthday was months prior. Some thought it was her coming into the Wayne family finally. But again, that idea was shot as well.
Some hoped it was for her and the youngest son to the Wayne family. They hoped they had finally gotten together after all those photos of them surfaced all those months ago. Some hoped it was an engagement announcement, or even that they tied the knot in secrete. Nobody had actually been able to figure it out.
Gasps were heard as she walked in, all eyes on the star of the night.
Her heart hammered against her chest as she walked in, seeing everyone’s eyes trained on her. But for once, she didn’t want to hide from their eyes. She felt, beautiful. She never thought she would say that again, after everything that had happened in her life.
Her hair layer in soft waves against her head, having it cut even shorter than normal. Soft winged eyeliner Accentuated her eyes, making them sparkle. Her lips painted in a soft red color.
She adorned a soft black dress, that was sleeveless but came up right above her neck. It stopped at about mid calf, sinching in at her waist. She took a cue from Audrey Hepburn, having been compared to her countless times due to her striking resemblance to the old Hollywood star. She didn’t want anything flashy, or over the top. That wasn’t what the night was about, it want about showing off how much money she had or her status with the Wayne name. No, it was much greater than that.
She walked over to the small carpet where photos were taken. Bruce had brought up the idea, having done it for most of his galas.
Lines of Photographers stood as hey captured her, yelling out questions and complements to her. She had grown somewhat used to the blinding lights, no longer hiding away in sheer fright. But they didn’t stop her heart from beating out her chest.
She smiled wide at the cameras, remembering to keep it on her face. “You look amazing!” One yelled out, making her smile wider and laugh. That was, until she heard another voice. “She really does, doesn’t she?” She heard hun yell, whipping her head to the side, her mouth opening in shock as she gasped.
Jason walked faster over to her, his heart racing as he reached her.
“DAD!” She screamed, tears spilled down her face as he picked her up. Her arms wrapped around him as he held her tightly, tears falling down both of their faces.
The photographers screamed loudly when they realized who it was, snapping photos and yelling out even more as the one and only Jason Todd was there.
She pulled away from him, a large smile on her face. “I thought you-“ “did you really think I was gonna miss this? For what, my fears? God no. Tonight is about you, my daughter.” Tears spilled down their faces as they held one another. “But you said you were to scared to make it?” “I lied, I wanted to surprise you. I knew you understood, but I knew you’d feel lost and scared tonight. I wanna be here, for you.”
Both smiles brightly at the cameras, laughing at everyone going mental with him there.
They walked up to an interviewer, smiling at the young man. “Jason Todd! How’s it feel to be back?” “Hey buddy, no questions about me. I’ll answer all of your guys questions one day when I’m ready. Tonight’s all about my daughter.” He said, a proud smile on his face. The man puts the mic over to her, “miss Todd, can I ask what this event is for?” She smiled at him, seeing his nerves evident in his face. “It’s for a good cause, one that’s very close to my dad and I.”
Tik walked over to her, smiling at the camera on his way. He brought her in for a tight hug, one that she happily reciprocated.
He pulled away from her, a smile on his face that she knows all to well. She looked at him in question, wondering what he was about to do.
She laughed out as he melt to the ground, his arms stretched out to her. He was recreating the will smith meme, putting all the attention to her.
She couldn’t help but laugh at his antics, making everyone laugh along with the two.
Dick walked to her, a large smile on his face as he too hugged her.
He pulled away, putting on his best smile to the cameras, a hand on her back. He pointed his finger down to her, making her laugh as he too put all the attention to her. “You’re the star of the night, gotta make sure they know.” He whispered to her, making her laugh.
Bruce stood beside Damian, won’t watching as she took photos with each member of the family. “Come on Damian.” “You’re not going to make me take a photo with her.” Bruce sighed at this, putting his hand on his shoulder. “You know it would be great if you could pit your pride away just tonight. This is for her. This event is for something that means so much to her. And besides, do you really want them speculating? Cause it sure as hell looks like you guys dated and broke up. If you take a few with her, it not only looks good, but it’s for her.” Damian sighs at this. He knows he’s right, having to remind himself that sometimes, you gotta bite your tongue and suck it up. “Fine.”
Her heart skipped rapidly when she sees Damian walking up to her, shock quickly being replaced with a smile. It’s fake, not a genuine one that she wore with everyone else.
He pulled her into his arms, making her heart soar inside her. He smells exactly the same, even his touch calming her like they did. “What are you doing?” She whispers, her arms still around him. “Don’t ask any questions now, let’s just get these photos done.” He whispers back, her heart stabbing in pain.
His hand wrapped around her lower back to her side, pulling her into his side. Her arms around his shoulder as they smile at the cameras.
It didn’t feel as uncomfortable as they thought, both feeling the comfort of one another.
He ducked his head down to hers, “just go with it okay?” He whispers. Before she can ask what he meant, his lips planted a soft kiss to her forhead. Her heart skipped rapidly in her chest, barley hearing people yelling out at the action.
They walked over to an interviewer, watching as the man struggled on who to point the mic to. “Did-did you guys just anouce your relationship?” The man asks, his words rushed. Damian smiled at the man. “No we did not. We just happen to be good friends, who have a slightly flirty relationship.” He chuckles, winking at her at the end. “I’d this true?” The man asks her, shoving the mic into her face. “Yes, it is. We’ve always been this way since we met. It’s mostly a running joke between us. As I right dames?” She asks, kissing his cheek at the end. Damian smiles at her, his hand on her back pulling her in. “That you are.” He chuckles. The man puts the mic between them again. “Well I gotta ask, I’d there a chance of a relationship budding between you two one day?” She chuckles at this, “we’re just really good friends.”
Everyone sat in silence, patiently waiting for her to start.
Her heart hammered in her chest as she walked up the stage. Only the sounds of her heels were heard through the large room.
She finally got up to the desk, hands clutching onto her papers. “Thank you all for coming tonight, it’s been a pleasure to meet each one of you.” She says, her voice smooth despite her anxiety being the highest it’s ever been.
She looks down to her papers, chuckling as her hands shake. “You know, I had my speech written out so I wouldn’t mess up. But you know what? Screw it.” She says, throwing the papers across the floor, a collective gasp heard around the room. “What I’ve come here to talk about, shouldn’t be planned, perfected, or written out. It should come from my heart.”
“As many of you know, my father, Jason Todd, found me on the streets. I, never really talked much about my past.” She takes in a deep sigh. “My parents died when I was young. I won’t go into the details, but I was without parents, a home, everything. I had nobody. For years, I lived on the streets. Fighting for food, stealing, trying to find where I was going to sleep each night. Winter was the worst, it was, so, cold. I felt it creep into my body, wishing for sweet death to finally take me. I, I remember finding, people. People who got that release. Frozen to death. I’ll never forget, when I found a little girl, frozen to death in her sleep. She, looked so peaceful. But I knew her short life was anything but.I’ve come here today to talk about those children. Those children who don’t have a home or a place to go. Now, I know you all aren’t stupid. We know what’s going on in those homeless shelters, kids are being taken, killed, Tortured, put into places that no child deserves! You all put a blind eye to them. I get it, it’s hard to talk about. It’s hard to admit that these things happen. But if we don’t talk about it, then it’s just going to keep happening. My father, was too a street kid. He thankfully was found by Bruce. As I was found by him. But some kids aren’t as lucky. Those kids, don’t know what’s it’s like to sleep in a warm bed, with a full belly, and not fearing for their life.”
Stray tears fell down her face, quickly wiping them away. “It’s time, to change that. We, need to help those children. For they are the future of our fallen city. They, are what will change this city one day. I’ve come here today to bring light for these children. I don’t wanna just be a socialite who’s only known for being with the Wayne’s. I want to make a change. And I, need your help. Tonight’s event, is a fundraiser. A fundraiser for my company that I’m building as we speak. All of your donations, from those who are in this room, to those watching at home, any cent you give, are going to the Todd/Wayne foundation fir homeless youth of Gotham. There, they will have a home. Rooms, a bed they can sleep in, food, and education. All ages are welcome, and you’re not just kicked out when you turn 18. No, we will help them find a job, and a place to live. It’s time we help the children of our city, it’s time to show them what it’s like to feel safe, and loved.”
“YEEAAHH THATS MY GIRL!” Jason screams, standing tall and clapping wildly. Cheers erupted through the room, claps almost deafening. She skilled wide, tears streaming down her face as everyone cheered for her. “SEE THAT! THATS MY DAUGHTER!” Jason screamed, never in his life had he been so proud, and so happy.
Tears stream down her face when she looks at the amount of donations were made. Millions had been made just tonight, enough to build a plethora of safe houses around the entire city.
Arms wrapped around her from behind, her mrltibg into then immediately. “You did so amazing tonight bub. I’m so fucking proud of you.” Jason says, his voice hoarse from crying. “I wouldn’t be able to do any of it without you dad.”
Hugs were shared between almost everyone, each one bringing her more joy.
Bruce held tightly to her, a proud smile on his face. “You did amazingly tonight. I can’t believe how well you moved everyone. I can’t remember a time I was so proud of someone.” He says, making her laugh.
“That was so amazing! I can’t believe you came up with all of that on the spot too. And here I thought I was the best at pulling out a speech out my ass.” Tim says, making her throw her head back laughing.
Barbara and dick both pulled her into a hug, nearly crushing her. “You did, so amazing tonight, you even made dick cry.” Barbara said, dick agreeing with a smile.
Alfred hugged her tightly, no words were spoken between the two. She could feel how proud and happy he was, just in his touch.
Damian walked over, making her heart speed up. He had a soft smile on his face. “I know everyone’s said it, but you did amazing. Even I can’t come up with something that moving.” He says, his tone calming and happy for once. A smile foarms on her face, “thank you Damian.”
Laughs erupted around the room, a rare change for everyone.
Everyone sat around the family room, all joking and chatting. It was surreal, seeing everyone there, acting like a family. Nobody was angry, or uncomfortable. Even Jason cracked a few jokes to Damian a couple times. Mostly about how the young man was still the shortest, even with his growth spurt he had.
Jaso held a beer in his hand, sipping on it. He looked down at her, seeing her laughing at something Bruce was saying. He wasn’t listening much, only hearing enough to tell him it was about him. “I’ve brought more refreshments!” Tim yells, making everyone cheer.
Tim passé around some of the drinks, finally reaching Jason.
She was looking down at her phone when she felt Tims presence. She looked up, seeing him handing her a drink. “I-I don’t know.” She stammers, looking to her father. “As you dad, I would say no. But, where technically I’m not, and you’re only a few years younger than me, and way older thst I was when I started drinking, I’ll allow it.” He says, making everyone chuckle.
Everyone watches her as she looks at the drink. She had never drank, being underage.
She takes a small sip, the taste of fruit immediate. “Hm, actually not that bad.” She remarks. “It’s weird though. Isn’t this kinda illegal for me to drink?” Everyone laughs at this, throwing their heads back. “It’s perfectly fine as long as you’re 18 and home. Plus, don’t you see damians had a bit to drink?” Dick chuckles, making her eyes go over to him.
And he was right, Damian sat with a glass of a darkish drink in hand. “What are you having?” She asks him. He lets out a small chuckle. “Bourbon. Here, try a sip.” He says, reaching over the table, handing it to her. Their hands momentarily touch, sending shivers through their touch.
She smells it first before taking a small sip. She scrunches her face immediately, the taste awful and burning. Everyone laughs at her face, even Damian can’t hold in his laughter. “Fuck me that’s strong!” She says, her voice hoarse from the burning. “Yeah it’s not for everybody.” Damian laughs, taking another sip from his drink.
Her head rested against her pillow, nearly ready to pass out. Tonight had been one of the greatest nights of her life, truly something she would never forget. She fought hard with sleep, her excitement growing inside her at what was to come. But all of that was for tomorrow she thought, finally shutting her eyes as sleep takes her.
