I honeslty love her accent, design and color palette. It is all rather simple but very appealing. I also very much love personality when she is comfortable with the tarnished. She is sassy and has a bit of humor to her.

I don't think her Age of Stars is as great as everyone says. AND NO. It's not because I don't understand it. I know what it is perfectly. She takes her new order to space and fucks off and lets everyone live free of it's influence. Cool, except the lands between are a complete shit hole. If she just leaves and puts nothing in place to help stabilize it, it will just remain a shit hole, or be destroyed by some other force. The least she can do is linger a bit to ensure the people left have some safety and stability before leaving.

That is why in my verse, the age of perfected order comes first. It fixes and stabilizes the Lands Between, and then when Marika has finally had enough, and just crumbles to dust, Ranni can step in with her age of stars and leave.

i once had a toichiro character study i was playing with that was gonna involve a scene with reigen and toichiro having a pretty candid, honest conversation about life and i’ve always thought about it. i think reigen could pretty easily cut through the bullshit and be real with toichiro, and as much as toichiro does not respect reigen he can appreciate his brutal honesty.

A random headcanon:

i don’t know if this is a headcanon, more so just my general thoughts on how i’d think his Imprisonment would go. i don’t think he is ever formally Let Out bc my understanding of his imprisonment is it’s something a lot more dubious than just a typical criminal being apprehended by the cops situation (i see the esper branch as working oftentimes Outside of the jurisdiction and general rules of the government, therefore having their own means for capturing and subduing perpetrators). toichiro was never formally arrested in the books, more that he just kind of fell off the face of the planet and is assumed to have either left the country or be dead. toichiro Could feasibly just leave the containment facility and walk free—there are no legal laws keeping him there. it’s just that, well, they would probably try and stop him if he Did try to leave and that would involve probably beating and/or killing him. plus, i think it’s more of a personal penance for toichiro. he knows he can leave but chooses to stay because he feels this is what he deserves after all he’s done. but, eventually, as toichiro proves to be a good inmate, the facility starts giving him more freedoms. it kind of becomes like a nursing home? where people can check him out for a day or a couple of days at a time, provided he isn’t needed for any missions and is escorted by an agent (most often joseph, who was assigned to his case). he sees the outside world quite often, between his missions apprehending rogue espers with joseph and the gang checking him out to attend big parties and shit. but he also gets the typical prison visits and calls from shou and whoever feels like seeing him. he never becomes able to Leave the facility, but he’s made his peace with that and enjoys his life for what it is.

General Opinion over said character:

world’s funniest and yet saddest anime villain. i used to think about toichiro A Lot, especially in terms of writing him. i think it’s funny how closely you can compare him to teru in the way he talks and his worldview, because it means a grown ass man was having the same powertrip as a Literal Fourteen Year Old. but also that’s like. sad! tfs has a lot of toichiro in it and i got rlly good at writing him and the ways he manipulates people. i don’t think he’s a fundamentally evil person or anything. i just think he kind of sucks and has the capacity to change. mob psycho is literally all about giving kind of shitty people the capacity to change. and i openly welcome the idea of toichiro growing to become a different person post-wd. he’s a fascinating little critter and also just generally hilarious

🖇️ A BROTP: I mentioned how much I like Torn+Tess over on his post, but for Tess I really like her and Keira hitting it off; they're both engineers that are routinely underestimated because they're teenage girls, they have so much in common. Likewise, the differences between them would be a great way for them to bond, since Tess is so much harder than Keira, and could help her figure out how to survive the rougher sides Haven on her own.

🚫 A NOTP: Torn/Tess is a no-go for me! (No shade to anyone who ships it, it's just not my vibe.)

💭 A RANDOM HEADCANON: Tess is Jinx's niece; her parents passed when she was 10-11, and it was Jinx that took her in for the next few years, getting her into weapons development and taking her with him on pretty much every job he ran, no matter how dangerous. This is how she wound up falling in with Torn—who may be Jinx's third cousin on his mother's side, although Jinx may also be lying about this, it's very unclear—just a few months after the collapse of the holy district. Torn was still very much in recovery at this point, and Jinx had to run a job that he couldn't bring Tess on due to limited space, so he asked Torn if he'd be okay having Tess stay with him for a day. Torn was like "...why the hell do you have a teenage girl?" and the rest is history. Tess has been working with Torn ever since! (This is also why Krew hired her to work the bar so readily, since he's the one that hires Jinx most often and thus had some experience with Tess already, leading him to consider her trustworthy but naive.)

🗣️GENERAL OPINION: I love Tess! I appreciate that she's not just fanservice, because she could have been quite easily—instead she's a valuable member of the Underground, working intelligence and espionage, and later she works in weapons development for the Freedom League. Nobody questions that she can do any of these things, she's openly relied on by Torn and Jak, while the affection between her and Daxter is sincere and genuine. She's a sweetheart with sharp parts, and I adore that about her.

oh absolutely! sorry this has taken me a minute—it’s been sitting in my drafts as i slowly add to it. anyway

i know it seems like every member of this family likes to take each other lunch/snacks while they’re at work, but that’s just how it is. sometimes, zelena will pick up two bear claws from granny’s and drop them off for emma and david

usually, this ends with her sitting in one of the office chairs for a while, most likely trying to annoy the crap out of them, but failing (with robyn in daycare and no job, zelena has a lot of time on her hands)

once, zelena breaks regina’s blender and begs emma not to tell regina, and when emma inevitably does (regina gets it out of her) zelena calls emma a traitor and gives her the cold shoulder for exactly 2 hours before she decides not talking all the time is too boring

they don’t really talk about deep things. at least, not often, but they both totally get using humor as a defense mechanism and when they do talk about the hard stuff, it usually entails a lot of jokes

zelena doesn’t have her magic anymore, so one day she tries to get emma to magic things for her. it ends with snow having green hair and an alpaca in regina’s office (emma is confused, zelena just cackles)

regina is the person zelena goes to for movie recommendations, but emma is the person she goes to when she wants to listen to some new music—she goes through this phase where she wants to learn all about pop culture in this world and emma is happy to help

when emma and regina do get together, zelena tells emma she’ll turn back into the wicked with if emma ever dares to hurt her sister, but she knows emma won’t

adam from trc? (for the characters ask game!)

Why I like them: Difficult to sum up since he’s one of my favorite characters of all time, I mentioned he’s probably my second favorite specifically male character in media and I stand by that <3. He has a lot of traits that appeal to me between the control issues and emotional repression and being curious and wanting to know what is up at all times and being a resourceful smart bb who can probably (the traits that most make me vibe with male chars tbh), his ambition and drive and desire for autonomy is really admirable to me but I enjoy that his arc in original trc is about learning he’s worthy of loving and being loved and about the value of that, that vulnerability isn’t automatically going to lead to being ruined in a sense. And his whole journey/arc in original trc is really beautifully done, one of my favorite character arcs ever to this day. On the flip side he’s a freak and a menace and I adore that as well, his internal monologue and pov is truly unhinged in the most fascinating and fun way. I definitely wouldn’t be nearly as attached to him without that. And I love stories about identity and masking and characters who feel alien and other having malleable relationships to identity to conform… so that might have started a bit with my love for Adam I’m realizing.

Why I don’t: I’m satisfied enough with how the arc played out in canon to not hold this against him when it comes to my feelings about his char especially since the breakdown of Blue and Adam’s relationship is pretty compelling to me in general, but anytime I see fandom takes that act like he Never treated Blue badly during their relationship at all and blame her for everything … Bombastic side eye doesn’t begin to cover it. But that’s only related to fandom bs, in terms of moments I actually dislike him which are not reckoned with by the narrative at all obviously it’s the racism re: Henry in TRK, ugh.

Favorite episode (scene if movie): tbh so much of my favorite Adam content comes in his internal monologues and PoV rather than what he’s Doing in a scene… but DC Party scene is incredible <33. If you made me pick another scene would go with him blackmailing Greenmantle nefarious king <3. Oh but also being unbothered by Kavinsky’s death iconic… wait I actually changed my mind pretend I never said those things it’s definitely the sacrifice scene in TRB yes that is my final answer.

Favorite season/movie: I love his entire arc and journey in trc so much so it really could be any book each for different reasons but I’ll say TDT, I love a Downward Spiral that’s interesting and messy <33. But also his BLLB arc rules… but it is the more obvious answer since it’s more positive/uplifting so yeah will stick to TDT answer and unpopular opinion but he’s the best part of that book for me.

Favorite line: lonesome internal monologue is iconic for a reason it’s incredible… also his whole internal monologue about being jealous of all combinations of his (hot) friend hanging out without him is soo real and iconic. Oh also ik I slander TRK but his monologue about loving magic and not knowing he was capable of love before and then Cabeswater showing him the images of his friends in moments linked to heightened emotions surrounding them… went off. If we’re going with just dialogue World’s Ending Folks! tirade is iconic + the internal monologues surrounding it… so much fun to dissect together.

Favorite outfit: the white shirt and cargo pants from BLLB ig my man has no drip… actually changed my mind it’s the secondhand tweed suit Gansey’s dad gave him he wears at Harvard for symbolism reasons.

OTP: Adam/Gansey. I love him with Ronan too and find stuff to be compelled by re: him and Blue but Adansey just hits on a different level emotionally and narratively they are everything…

Brotp: Persephone I love their psychic mentorship in BLLB.

Head Canon: would not have said this was my take before this reread but I do actually think of Adam as having some more internalized homophobia than most of the fandom, not as intense and exacerbated by religious shame as Ronan’s but there in a subtler way. I think Adam at the beginning of the series has some level of awareness about his attraction to men without fully registering it/accepting it, when he thinks about a model for success in TRB&TDT it’s this very heterosexual WASP ideal him watching Declan and Ashley as a model is very this to me for instance and I reblogged some older meta posts about this I agree with (stopping myself here because I kind of want to make a separate post about my thoughts here at some point).

Unpopular opinion: He’s quite an emotional mess for most of the series so fanon portrayals of him as totally cool and collected and put together rub me the wrong way especially after rereading where it Really stood out to me how much fanon and canon tend to diverge... He’s a logical, pragmatic person and a brilliant problem solver but that boy is emotional as fuck (Not soft at all which is totally different from emotional imo) and his efforts to deal with that logically make it worse (I can relate but that’s beside the point), he’s also really not smooth it’s just that Ronan and Gansey’s disasternous is more telegraphed and it makes Adam’s easier to downplay, also a trademark of Adam narration is that He prefers to see himself as a totally logical in control of emotions person and will downplay his emotional investment/emotions as a factor even when his feelings come out in other thoughts and especially especially when you look at his actions….

A wish: makes me deeply sad that even though he clearly values knowledge, loves when other people love knowledge for it’s own sake and get’s a taste of that passion himself when it comes to how much he loves being a powerful psychic/doing magic, he never gets to have that in his academic pursuits because they’re all tailored to get him out of Henrietta / help him win at the capitalist American dream… I so want for him to find a major he’s actually passionate about.

An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: well from the Greywaren spoilers I heard (I read CDTH and MI when they came out and now that I’m done rereading the original series am rereading them and will then read Greywaren so will.. try to reserve judgement but what I’ve heard to me is 😬) but aside from that I did always hate the idea of him losing his psychic powers and I’m glad that specifically didn’t happen.

Where in the world is Henrietta Lange?  Gets a mention by Deeks since Whiting took a bullet while they were looking for Hetty.

Who's down with OTP:   Deeks is not down with the Rosa-Steven OTP, that’s for sure.

Who's down with BrOTP:  Sam and Deeks made an interesting pair.

Fashion review:  Sam wore a long sleeve black tee for most of the episode, black workout gear for the boxing match.  Kensi starts the episode at home in a mustard colored sweater with black vertical stripes.  The following day, she’s wearing a salmon colored sweater.  Deeks starts the episode at home in his pink sweatshirt.  Is pretty in pink until he goes into overwatch near the end of the episode when he’s wearing a long-sleeve dark blue tee.  Fatima wore a black turtleneck and a blue and black lightweight long coat.  She swaps out the lightweight coat for a zip-up jacket for Sam’s boxing match.  Rountree wore mauve long sleeve tee with a blue and gold plaid jacket.  In the boatshed, the casual Admiral wore an oatmeal colored sweater with a dark blue button down shirt.  Later, the Admiral was back in a blue three-piece, white dress shirt, blue pattern tie.

Music:   “Beast” by Tim Hillock played as Sam and Fatima entered the fight club.  “Sons and Daughters” by Johnny Cash was playing while Sam was boxing Odin.

Any notable cut scene:  Not today.

Quote: Deeks:  “Listen, I know she's not everybody's cup of tea, including me, especially you.” Rountree:  “Yeah, that's putting it lightly.” Deeks:  “And you're totally justified but I need you to know that I respect her and I trust her.  Even though I do want to shoot her myself sometimes.” Rountree:  “Yeah, maybe, but that's for you.  Respect is earned, not given.” Deeks:  “You ever notice on her neck, the scar that she has right here? You know how she got that?” Rountree:  “No. What...” Deeks:  “She took a bullet for Hetty.  She saved her life.  She almost died in my arms.” Rountree:  sigh Deeks:  “Please, just don't kill each other.”

Anything else:  Whiting flashbacks with Deeks and with Rountree after he and Jordyn were manhandled by LAPD. 

At the Deeks-Blye residence, Rosa is getting ready for a movie night with Steven, who she spoke about in “Best Seller” earlier this season.  Deeks wants to know a little more about Steven, Kensi is worried he’s prying.  Rosa explains that while Steven is a boy and a friend, he’s not her boyfriend.  Rosa is wearing a cute dark blue dress with polka dots and a black leather jacket.  Kensi professes her love for the outfit as a way to get Deeks to stop asking questions.  Deeks likes the outfit too but still has questions – like why does the outfit matter if it isn’t a date. 

As Kensi starts drinking wine – Deeks has a glass too - Rosa wonders why Boomers like to classify all relationships.  Deeks wishes he had a Boomers’ bank account – he’s part of the MTV Generation.  She’s seeing an oldie midnight movie with Steven – “10 Thinks I Hate About You”.  Kensi loves the movie – pushes back on it being an oldie, however.  Deeks says if it is a rom com, it’s a date as far as Steven is concerned. 

A knock on the door has Rosa retreating to her room to make sure she looks her best.  Deeks thinks this gives him time to run Steven’s license plate.  While he tells a complaining Rosa he’s kidding, Deeks is not kidding.  At the door, however, is not Steven.  It is a bloodied and desperate Det. Ellen Whiting.  She’s calling in all the favors Deeks owes her and is calling them in now.

Moving this all to the boat shed, Deeks has Whiting telling her story to a sweater-clad Admiral Kilbride.  An undercover officer named Sean Turner contacted Whiting and wanted to meet.  When she got to the meeting place, Turner was dead and she was attacked.  She didn’t see the man who beat her up.  The Admiral, while sympathetic, isn’t sure why he’s spending his late Friday night into early Saturday morning listening to Whiting. 

Whiting believes her attacker is a police officer.  She left her car and phone behind, went to Deeks’s – she had nobody else to turn to.  The Admiral says he needs more proof.  Whiting offers that as soon as she ran, there was an APB out on her for Turner’s murder.  The only way that could get out so fast is if she was set up from the beginning.  Seeing the Admiral needed more, Whiting explained she was never a popular person at LAPD and after the Rountree investigation where she tipped him off to what LAPD was doing, her polling would be at an all-time low.  She was told to pressure Rountree into dropping the complaint.  She spoke to him once but when they kept pushing her to push Rountree, she drew the line. 

Sniffing around after the Rountree incident, Whiting heard about a group of cops running a protection ring for a fentanyl set-up.  Her investigation hit a little too close to home.  Deeks asks about Turner’s involvement in all this.  Whiting isn’t sure but she doesn’t trust anyone at LAPD.  Deeks tells the Admiral that he doesn’t like Whiting but her instincts are usually spot on.  The Admiral is worried about fentanyl and the uptick of it on the streets in recent weeks.  Kilbride will work with DEA to see what they know but the team can start a careful investigation.  But Deeks is on a very short leash with this case.

An unhappy Fatima and Rountree arrive at the office.  She had Saturday brunch plans with Akhil at Republique, a hard reservation to score.  He had LAFC tickets.   Fatima explains that LAFC is the flavor of the month, the LA Galaxy is the top Los Angeles “football” team.  Rountree is surprised by Fatima’s strong soccer feelings.  She explains that her father was a big soccer fan in Iran - a die-hard FC Aboomoslem fan.  He’s been a season ticket holder since the MLS started.  Rountree explains the atmosphere at LAFC games is amazing and wants Fatima to see it.  She’ll go if her dad can join them.  Rountree agrees.  Sam arrives and the three go to Ops.

In Ops, Rountree isn’t thrilled to see they are all in on a Saturday morning to help the woman who defended LAPD to him.  Fatima brings up Whiting tipped him off to LAPD’s non-punishment of Officer Murphy.  Sam explains that they aren’t taking Whiting’s word on anything but the Naval base in San Diego had several fentanyl overdoses after a group of sailors returned from liberty in Los Angeles.  Two of the sailors died.  NCIS is doing their own investigation. 

Whiting is wanted by the police and that fact is out to the media.  NCIS can’t let LAPD know they are investigating.  First up, learn about the dead officer Sean Turner.  They have no chance of getting Turner’s arrest reports of discipline file so Sam wants Fatima to do a deep dive in Turner’s life outside of the LAPD.  Rountree gets the assignment he doesn’t want – babysitting Whiting in the boat shed.  If this is payback for Whiting tipping off Rountree, Sam wants to protect him from LAPD.

While mocking Whiting’s fashion sense, Deeks wants to know if he will be even with Whiting if he gets her out of this mess.  “More than even,” according to Whiting.   An unhappy Rountree arrives.  He wants to speak to Deeks.  Deeks explains that he trusts and respects Whiting, even if he wants to shoot her from time to time.  Rountree explains that respect is earned, not given.  Deeks explains the scar on Whiting’s neck was from taking a bullet for Hetty.  “Please, just don’t kill each other.”  Deeks leaves. 

Sam and Deeks arrive near the crime scene.  Deeks is wondering who Sam has in a fight, Rountree or Whiting.  Rountree has muscles, according to Deeks, but Whiting is an eye gouger/throat puncher/groin kicker according to Deeks.  LAPD still  has the crime scene locked down – a retail/restaurant area of Los Angeles - so Sam and Deeks, especially Deeks, are keeping their distance.  Deeks is looking at the area – there are security cameras around the stores and eateries.  The two try to get some footage of what happened.

At the boat shed, Whiting is making small talk, Rountree isn’t interested.  She breaks the news that McNeil’s case is being closed.  Still on administrative leave but there will be no real punishment.  Rountree brings up Whiting’s involvement or lack thereof.  She disagrees – she backed what he said.  Other people decided the punishment.   Rountree is angry.  She didn’t back what he said happened, what happened actually happened. 

Whiting gets up - she as a theory to check out.  Under no circumstance will Rountree let her leave.  Whiting doesn’t care – that’s her super power.  She doesn’t care if people like her.  Pushing that the sooner he helps her, the sooner Whiting is out of his hair, Rountree calls Fatima.  Fatima thinks leaving the boatshed is an awful idea.  LAPD is searching for Whiting.  Fatima brings up Kilbride, who wouldn’t be happy Whiting is on the street and the Rountree is out there too.  Rountree calls in his coffee date favor – besides, he doesn’t think Whiting is innocent.  He will be there when she slips up.  Fatima reluctantly agrees but wants it on the record that she doesn’t like the plan.  Rountree and Whiting leave in his car. 

Arriving outside a suburban home, Rountree and Whiting are on a stakeout.  Rountree asks about her gun – he saw her holster sitting empty at the boat shed.  Whiting claims she lost it in the attack.  Rountree asks if she shot Turner and then ditched it.  She says she didn’t know Turner until he called her – why would she kill him?  Calling into Fatima, Rountree asks if any guns were found at the crime scene.   As they sit in the car, an LAPD black and white drives by.

In Ops, Fatima has footage from LAPD of Whiting going into a building with her gun drawn, coming out a little later covered in blood. 

Sam and Deeks learned that all the security cameras on the block around the crime scene had their wires cut but no theft or vandalism on the same street on the same night a cop was killed.  There is no way Whiting would knock out every security camera on the block except the one that makes Whiting look really guilty. Sam and Deeks believe she is being set up.

Deeks calls Kensi, mentioning his Mom and her throuple in Barstow.  Back in the car with Sam, Deeks explains that Kensi is working fulltime to make sure Rosa doesn’t know a murder suspect dropped by their home last night.  Kensi and Deeks had Rosa cancel her non-date date with Steven.  Rosa isn’t happy.  Sam and Deeks go to talk, quietly, to Turner’s widow.

Fatima texts Rountree that the only gun found at the crime scene belonged to Turner.  Whiting thinks Rountree is naïve if he doesn’t believe LAPD has her weapon.  The plan isn’t to take her alive.  Det. Andy Price leaves his home under Rountree and Whiting’s watchful eye.  They start trailing him. 

LAPD is outside the Turner home.  Using the back door, Sam and Deeks interview the widow.  She explains that Sean was secretive about his job.  In recent weeks he was sick, had no joy about his life.  He was working himself to death.  “I hardly recognized him.”  Sam asks about being sick.  Sean was vomiting, exhausted but not sleeping.  She hated what the job was doing to him.  Deeks asks what LAPD told Mrs. Turner about her husband’s death.  They haven’t told her anything but there is a suspect.  She didn’t know Ellen Whiting and has no idea why Whiting would kill her husband.  She’s overwhelmed with grief and walks away to gather herself.

With Mrs. Turner out of the room, Deeks says Sean Turner was suffering from the symptoms of drug addiction.  Maybe he was using the fentanyl the cops were allegedly trafficking.  The cops could have killed Turner for being an addict and a liability.  They can kill him and take out Whiting at the same time.  Deeks thinks it is really strange that LAPD didn’t question Mrs. Turner.  Sam agrees but you don’t have question Mrs. Turner if you know why and how her husband was killed.

Det. Price leaves his vehicle to meet with a possible undercover officer or informant.  Rountree takes a photo of the two and sends it to Fatima who starts facial rec just as Kilbride arrives.  He is not pleased that Rountree and Whiting are out and about.  Rountree gets a good chewing out by Kilbride until Fatima interrupts.  Price is meeting with Scott Upson, a The Unwanted gang member.  The Unwanted sells drugs, especially fentanyl so a meeting with Det. Price is suspicious.  While Rountree is not off the hook according to the Admiral, Kilbride says the DEA is looking into The Unwanted but have not been able to get close.  Being protected by the LAPD would explain that.  Kilbride tells Rountree to stay on Price.  As he hangs up, Fatima tries to explain but earns a “stow it” from Kilbride.  He wants regular updates on Rountree and Whiting.

Kensi is trying to chase down Bertie when there is another knock on her door.  Rosa wants to know who is at the door as Kensi gets her gun out of their gun safe.  Firmly telling Rosa to return to her room, Kensi opens the door.  The man at the door is looking for Martin Deeks.  They have a colleague at LAPD and the man wants to speak to Deeks – is he home?  Kensi asks for a badge but the man forgot his in the car.  He knows Deeks knows Whiting so the man wants Kensi to let him inside.  Holding onto her gun tucked in her back pocket, Kensi refuses.  When the man asks her if she wants to impede a homicide investigation, Kensi tells him what she wants is for him to get off her porch.  The man leaves with a sarcastic “stay safe.”

Kensi sends a photo of the cop at the door from their doorbell camera to Ops.  Fatima sends it to Rountree.  Whiting identifies the officer as Det. Nick Sills, Price’s partner.  Looking at his neck, Whiting sees a gash where she cut her attacker the prior night.  Looking at Price, he is arguing with Upson.  As Price storms off, Whiting confronts Upson with Rountree running alongside.  Upson runs when he hears Whiting is LAPD.  Not quite a “Federal Agents” run but close.  Just as Upson is about to shoot Whiting, Rountree comes up from behind and stops things.  Whiting by the way, has her weapon – it was tucked in her sock.  Rountree is not happy Whiting lied to him.  “Relax, we’re on the same team,” Whiting explains.  Rountree isn’t so sure until Whiting turns over her weapon.

Deeks has Kensi on speakerphone in Sam’s car.  Bertie is returning from a naturist Earthing ceremony getting her bong on.  Sam is laughing, Deeks is horrified when a naked Bertie is part the story.   Bertie is on her way home and Rosa is going to Bertie’s. 

Rosa tells Kensi she doesn’t have to be treated as a child.  She knows about the man the door and wants to know what is going on.  Kensi doesn’t want to treat Rosa as a child but she and Deeks would like Rosa to enjoy being 17 without the outside world intruding.  Bertie honks and Rosa is about to depart.  Rosa asks Kensi to call later and Kensi promises she will.  Kensi asks Rosa to call her immediate if Bertie wants to take her to an Earthing ceremony.

Fatima calls Sam and Deeks.  A friend in the ME’s officer told Fatima that Turner’s time of death is about 8PM.  The text from Turner to Whiting about meeting up went out at 10PM.  Turner didn’t send the text – this was a set-up. 

Rountree and Whiting question Upson.  He’s not worried about snitching on Price, he’s worried about snitching on someone named Odin.  Rountree asks if Odin is running the drug ring but Upson knows nothing about that.  Upson does the payments and security for a bare-knuckled fighting ring.  The gang takes a cut of the betting.  Odin is about to move The Unwanted out of LA and Price isn’t happy about it.  That’s why Price and Upson were arguing.

Rountree and Upson update Kilbride, Fatima and an arriving Sam and Deeks.  Odin moving the gang doesn’t mean much to LAPD’s dirty cops but someone ratting out the dirty cops would compromise both the dirty cops and the gang.  If they can arrest Odin, they have the drug ring and the dirty cops.   Deeks and Whiting obviously can’t work this case but if they could get someone into the fight, they could see the whole business.  Kilbride asks Rountree if he is volunteering.  He’s not but thinks someone bigger may fit the bill – Sam.   “Oh hell no,” is Sam’s answer. 

Setting up the sting, Sam will go in as one of Upson’s fighters.  Kensi and Deeks are on overwatch.  Fatima is going into the fight as Sam’s cornerman with a hidden camera.  Sam is fighting.  Rountree and Whiting are in the roach coach, watching Fatima’s feed.  Kilbride tells Sam that the fights are brutal – men have been killed.  Sam isn’t there to fight or to be killed, he’s there to be part of a takedown.  Sam understands.  Kilbride knows this is their only shot at this.

The fight is in the basement of an old office building downtown.  It is a fancy set up.  Sam and Fatima walk in together.  Kensi and Deeks are just outside in Sam’s car.  The roach coach is near the warehouse as well.  Sam enters the ring. Sam’s opponent makes some rude comments to Fatima.  Fatima asks him about a ruptured testicle.  When she leaves the ring, the opponent threatens Sam.  “Bigger men have tried,” Sam tells him. 

Sam is confident as the fight starts.  There are gang members, Price and Sills at the match.  Fatima notices what looks like a drug deal in the corner.  The drugs may be distributed to the gang member while the fights are going on.  Easier to sell the drugs in one place with multiple buyers coming to Odin.  The DEA is watching the perimeter of the office building.  Nobody is getting away. 

Sam notices his opponent was watching the drug deal in the corner – he may be Odin.  “Hell of a cover.”  Sam calls his opponent Odin and well, it all goes to hell in a “Federal Agents” sort of way.  Kensi and Deeks go into the building, as do Rountree and Whiting.  Price and Sills take off.  Kensi goes after Sills, Whiting and Rountree after Price.

Sam takes down Odin, knocking him out.

Kensi tracks down Sills, who pulls out a baton.  The two fight until Kensi knocks him out. 

Whiting shoots Price in the shoulder.  Price threatens Whiting, who keeps her gun on Price.  Rountree tells her to put her gun down but she says she’s not wasting her life on Price.

Rountree tells Kensi and Deeks that the charges against Whiting are dropped – there will be a ton of paperwork, however.  Whiting jokes about the paperwork.  Kensi and Deeks want to get Rosa away from Bertie.  Whiting is surprised Kensi and Deeks are parents.  They explains they have a 17-year old they adopted.  Whiting laughs, Kensi and Deeks went into the deep end of the pool with the adopting.  She has a 16-year old son named Stephen.  Kensi and Deeks wonder if her Stephen is Rosa’s Steven (they were spelled differently in the closed captions). 

Packing up in the guns in the boat shed armory, Whiting tells Rountree that she is going to look into McNeil being a part of the Price-Sills-The Unwanted gang mix.  She asks if Rountree is cool with her now.  Rountree says she’s LAPD, he’s NCIS – they are going their separate ways.  She promises that she owes Rountree and Deeks will confirm, she good for it.  Rountree thinks Whiting lied – she apologized earlier to Rountree about what happened with LAPD.  Someone who didn’t care if they were liked wouldn’t do that.  She tells him not to share that piece of information with anyone.  “I have a reputation to uphold.” 

Sam is nursing a bruised face and hand, icing them down  A ready to go home Kilbride notes that in his fighting days, you’d put a little rubbing alcohol on your bruises and drown your sorrows with some real alcohol.  Sam is surprised that Kilbride was a fighter.  He was a middleweight champion in Camp Lejeune.  After his son was born, he stopped training to spend more time with his family.  Odd thing was he didn’t spend his time with his family.  Instead, he worked harder, thinking that he was serving his family that way.  He watched his son “destroy his life with drugs,” so anytime he spends stopping drugs on the street, is a good day. 

Sam asks about the Admiral’s son.  Kilbride says they spoke and it was a hard conversation.  Sam said any hard conversation is a good one to have.  The Admiral says good night and compliments Sam on his fighting skills.

What head canon can be formed from here:   The obviously ended the Deeks-Whiting “I know what you did” storyline which I always thought was dumb.  Maybe a dying Deeks confesses to killing his former partner but a smart cop/lawyer/semi-federal agent would hold Whiting’s hand and tell her an ambulance is coming, not that he killed someone.

While lightly touched, the Kensi and Deeks dealing with parenthood and their jobs worked really well.  Rosa isn’t a child but I liked Kensi’s line that they would like her to be a teenage girl for a while after all she survived.

Also lightly touched until the end was Kilbride’s issues with drugs flooding the streets, killing two members of the Navy and the history with his son. 

The best scenes were Rountree and Whiting.  He really did want to find that Whiting was a dirty cop but once he realized she wasn’t, worked well with her.  Karina Logue had a nice run on the series.  She was able to give depth to a character the audience would be more disposed to dislike.

Really solid episode with a limited Kensi, an absent Callen and the odd pairing of Sam and Deeks.  Also, while not in the episode physically, Bertie’s vacation was endlessly entertaining.

I love Miranda‘s voice actress (Yvonne Strahovski) so much. Not only does her voice match the character perfectly well, but she makes the complexity of Miranda‘s character so palpable. I love the nuances in her voice acting. She can pull off so many different sides of Miranda. The arrogant Miranda who scolds Jacob for his consciousness getting the better of him. The one who claims she‘s always right and who‘s just all over pretty stern. And then later the vulnerable Miranda who falters and sounds so hurt when she tells Shepard that she doesn‘t know what she was to her father.

There are many more fantastic voice actors though. Jack‘s, Mordin‘s, Thane‘s, Garrus‘, Aria’s, Liara’s, Wrex‘s, Samara‘s voice actors being honorable mentions.. But I particularly love Yvonne. I could probably talk all day about how amazing the games‘ voice actors are. So I just settled on talking about one actor.

Damn you got me with that question. I‘m one of those people with dozens of ships. But I‘m going to focus on my absolute OTP‘s for this question.

So first off, I love Jackrios (Jack/Thane), as my blog description says. What I love about them is their similarity despite the extreme differences in outward demeanor.

You‘d think those two have nothing in common, perhaps. Where Thane is very polite and calm, Jack is the definition of angry and foul-mouthed.

But they had very similar upbringings. Thane‘s just had the nicer package, so to speak. Both Jack and Thane were taken from their families at a young age to be turned into murder weapons. Neither of those two ever really knew a normal life. Thane spend most of his past years in solitude, as did Jack. Thane escaped in memories, whereas for Jack it was crime and violence. Both of them, in theory, could have stopped doing what they did and picked a normal life, but neither of them ever knew normalcy, so they stuck with what was familiar to them, killing. And both of them suffer from horrific memories. Jack is haunted by her past, as is Thane. She might not have a drell‘s memory, but for all the horrors she went through, she remembers too much.

I think the differences in their personality don‘t clash, they compliment each other. Jack needs someone very much like Thane - patient, gentle, warm, but also someone tough enough not to be scared off by her rough exterior. And Thane, well.. I think it‘s pretty canon that he likes more stubborn, tough women. Remember what Irikah mouthed at Thane when he wanted to take that shot? „How dare you.“ Yeah that‘s one bad bitch.

And at the core both of them are very emotional people. You can see that by how vulnerable they show themselves during their romance. I think Thane is someone who could evoke this side of Jack and make her feel safe enough to feel learn to feel comfortable showing it.

Other than Jackrios, I adore Samara/Wrex (which I discovered in a fic some while ago) and also Samara/Thane and Samara/Miranda.. As far as friendships go I am a sucker for Jack/Grunt (seriously the found family dynamics here!), Wrex/Garrus (BroTP), Garrus/Zaeed, and Miranda/Mordin. The list goes on and on though! 🥹😅

Favorite thing about them: It's a hard tie between her design elements and her passion for what she cares about. I love how her design has come out, in part because of how long I've picked away at her over the years waiting for a chance to play her, and how everything fell into place with the campaign's setup, but I also love how passionate she is about things: her work, her goals, and even her problems. Coming off of playing Oriana, who has a tendency to downplay a lot of her emotions due to her anxiety, it's been a good change of pace. Ledo is pretty calm most of the time but won't hesitate to say what's on her mind if she thinks it's important.

Least favorite thing about them: She's really hard to pinpoint morally/alignment-wise. I've settled on lawful neutral, but she flip flops between wanting to actually do some good and not caring about others at all and it's one of those things that will probably either go one way or another as her story develops, but for right now is just hard to feel out without regularly writing or playing her.

Favorite line: "If the universe wanted us gone so bad, it should have done a better job at killing us." for a specific line. But I'll echo your sentiments about their little campfire talk. I had never gotten a chance to show Ledo angry and when a little bit slipped with her "I am no damn pirate," comment, that was satisfying.

brOTP: Already adoring the vibes between Ledo and Char, they get shit done. But honestly I can't wait to see where the relationships with the other characters go, too. Random Headcanon: In-character, her steel guardian Drache is based on a drake for one primary reason: a joke between her and her father. One day he asked her what she might want as a pet, and she said a dragon. She eventually learned that this was not possible, but the family in-joke remained. Out of character, the reason he's a drake is because I didn't want him to be a dog or a bear, and nothing else felt right. I originally was going to make her an armorer or artillerist artificer and she was gonna have a small monkey automaton, but after reviewing the sub-classes and realizing neither of those actually felt right and battle smith felt like the most useful sub-class, that automaton eventually morphed into Drache.

Unpopular Opinion: I doubt this technically counts, but I honestly think looking back that Ledo would have been better as a Pathfinder character. The inventor class is perfect, and I very well might replay her one day if I do ever get to join a Pathfinder campaign. But she feels like she fits well into the current party so I don't dwell on it too much.

Song I associate with them: OH boy. Currently her main song is "Queen of Kings" by Alessandra, but specifically this cover by Annapantsu for thematic reasons. "Runaway" by AURORA was her main theme before that. I have... a very long playlist for her I am still fine-tuning.

Favorite thing about them: She's just fun! Half of my enjoyment when it comes to thinking about Wisteria is considering the fun things like what she might wear, how her spells might appear since she's a dancing-based bard, or what kind of shenanigans she might get into.

Least favorite thing about them: Intelligence is absolutely her dump stat and hoo boy is that gonna be hard to get used to if I ever do get to play her in some kind of game. She also has no sense of personal space and is the worst kind of nosy.

Random Headcanon: Since Eladrin can change their "season" willingly, back in the Feywild she would do it on a whim or based on which court she was performing in, but she heavily preferred spring since that is the court she originates from. However, once she enters the material plane and the idea of the courts is no longer looming over her, her "season" tends to change depending on her overall mood for a while, at least until she starts understanding that seasons in this plane are a set timespan and then she starts adhering to that a bit more as she settles.

Unpopular Opinion: Probably gonna need to actually play her some to get an idea for what this might be.

Besides the alfion and primrose dynamics I do like the general dynamic of the “PATH” travelers. They’re the disastrous double-date to the chaotic family road trip of the “OCTO” travelers.

Tressa and Therion are really funny to think about. They bicker, a lot. The natural rivalry of merchant/thief.

Not to be a Debby-downer, but I do believe that he (like Phili) is a war orphan. I think that his parents died, and that's why he had to learn how to fend for himself so quickly.

General Opinion (I love all the main 8 dearly, but I will answer asks about side characters if prompted)

I love his arc. 

Even though I knew it was coming I did gasp when Darius pushed him off the cliff. 

I feel like he is one of the characters who would benefit from the concept of the travelers interacting with one another and discussing that outside of travel banter, as much as I like the Cordelia-Heathcoat trust, I don’t think that was enough for him to suddenly have faith in people again. I think the unwavering found family he hypothetically gained.

I get why he’s the most popular character in the fandom. He is a tragic edgy boy. The rough exterior soft interior somehow never gets old

 He is the type to care from a distance, but how he shows he cares is really meaningful.

Of course Cordelia and Heathcoat depended on him, and I think even after he returned the dragon stones, they stayed in contact and asked each other for aid time and again. 

I think in a group of a lot of yes-men (Alfyn, Ophilia, Tressa, Cyrus) it’s really helpful (while not always appreciated) to have a loud and stubborn “No man”. (Trust issues suck but they do come in hand) 

Also in The Travelers, I think everyone depends on everyone. No one is not doing their part in the group project y’know.

He had his purple scarf before Darius, which means it’s something he’s had for a long time. Possibly a remnant of their parents, or maybe the first thing besides food that they stole for himself.

They don’t. Therion is the type to feel emotions and then immediately repress them. He is a trainwreck of trauma repression, and I think it takes him a long time to feel comfortable expressing himself again, even after traveling with the octogang for a long time. He’s the type to have a bad day and punch a tree. I think once he gets some healthier coping mechanisms in him they’ll open up little by little, especially to Alfyn and Primrose.

10: 

With one eye open. He is on guard. You know how people say that for some animals sleeping openly is a sign of trust. It’s the same for him. He stays on watch until he’s certain no one is up to stab him and run. When he does sleep, it’s rough. A single noise can wake him, and he has constant flashes of Darius, the cliff incident, and other people who’ve probably treated him horribly. It’s not a fun time until let’s say it together now “he gets healthier coping mechanisms”.  

When he does gain a healthier sleep schedule, he sleeps more peacefully but is still a light sleeper and an early riser. 

He also goes to bed later because anyone can tell you it’s easier to steal in the dark.

My favourite 😍

1 - sexuality headcanon: open-minded? Not quite bisexual, but if the right woman came along I don’t think she would hesitate, you know? I definitely see Castle as being her one and done, but that doesn’t erase whatever sexuality she would identify with and I just never was like “yes, that is a straight woman”.

2 - OPT: obviously Caskett!

3 - BrOTP: Beckett and Lanie. I do wish they explored Beckett/Maddy more on the show. Beckett/Ryan have some super cute moments that I wish we saw more of, too.

4 - nOTP: I read a Beckett/Slaughter fic once. It was beautifully written but I just haven’t been the same ever since. I hated the pairing with every fibre of my being. Again, it was very well written. But it’s a no from me.

5 - first headcanon that pops into my head: Castle is constantly taking photos/videos of his friends and family, and has hundreds of files of Beckett doing boring, mundane day to day tasks but he can’t bring himself to delete them because he loves the way she furrows her brow when she concentrates or the way her face lights up when she accomplishes something.

6 - favorite line from this character: even on the worst days, there’s a possibility for joy.

7 - one way in which I relate to this character: her uncanny ability to make the wrong decision for the right reasons. Like, same.

8 - thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character: the scene in Linchpin where Beckett is having her not-so-subtle hissy fit over Castle and Sophia and Alexis overhears. One of my favourite scenes, ever! But every time I watch it I cringe like crazy! How awkward.

9 - cinnamon roll or problematic fave? I think she’s gone off the deep end one too many times to be a cinnamon roll, if I’m being totally honest with you. She has a heart of gold and usually the best of intentions but she’s got that tunnel vision thing going on and judgement gets a little cloudy at times.
