Been feeling nostalgic lately
Personally, I feel like Timmy as an adult would still remember his fairies cause of loopholes being his thing and stuff, but having him lose his memories is interesting too.

Any chance Timmy tries a different coffee shop one day and somehow the same guys still there watching him?
Oh my god that would so funny LMAO. I wonder How he’d react 😂
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kind of an after event of Peri ordering what Tommy got. Not enough sweet!
Would he take even notes? I feel like Timmy would probably confront him or something. Maybe catch Peri off guard when he’s close by asking him a question. Peri reminds him of a younger sibling and subtly treats him like so, but doesn’t know why. ? But yea, He’d probably confront him if Peri appeared at a different shop, or talk himself into coincidence. I have absolutely no clue

Genuinely has Timmy ever decked Irep for Peri after all the shenanigans he was put through?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Timmy's certainly felt like decking him once or twice!! But he'd never do it. Timmy knows better than anyone how terrible it feels when you're punished or reprimanded for just.. being yourself. Irep's just a kid, doing what anti-fairy kids do!
But also, Irep went through one hell of a growth spurt at school, and now he's twice Timmy's size. So, Timmy's options are pretty limited now. At best, he could use Anti-Cosmo as a measure to get Irep to listen to him, but it's becoming less effective the older they get.

Wanda on the phone with Cosmo: So how's our boys doing?
Cosmo nervously: Haha they're fine sweetie, just waiting for them to make a noise.
Wanda confused: Make a noise? Why are you doing that?
Cosmo hesitantly: Cuz I can't find the boys.

Edit: All chapters up on Tumblr & ao3 :p
Ugh, so all this FoP:ANW has me wishing I didn’t feel sad about having been yeeted out of childhood. I remember watching the OG show as a kid after ELEMENTARY school. Anyway, here’s some short trash so I could heal (or cope, you choose.)
✨No Stars for Fairies
There was such a way Hazel talked about her brother. With a sense of reverence and wonder gleaned in her eyes that outshined any fairy dust. Dev was an only child. In a better world, maybe he’d not need cupcakes, or gadgets, or a god-parent if he wasn’t alone.
Peri was not in this world or a better one. For all that it was worth, he didn’t hate his god-kid or his parents’ either. But there was a sharp pinch of jealousy at times, and dull, deep buried sadness that persisted.
Was he his parent’s only son? Or had his brother left like Hazel’s?  These questions were his world.
The first crack in his heart and loss in his young life was facing the fact that he wasn’t the only one. That his brother grew up as well. But it was not like it should have been. They should have done it in conjunction; side by side and hand in hand. No time was lost when they were together, just the time between. Time between when Peri poofed into the world and when Timmy forgot.
Peri wanted Timmy to have wished to keep his godparents as an adult. Or wished to have his memories or wished to never grow up. Wished to be family forever.
Peri wishes fairies could get their own wishes.
Because he’d wish for his brother back.

The Mundane Lingers | 5,889 words on Ao3
Sometimes the other fairies Poof didn't know things. It had been so long since they had a new fairy, after all, they were a little rusty on what was and wasn't common knowledge. Even then, they forgot that he wouldn't fully understand everything they explained. He was only five, after all, young by even human standards. His parents were better than most, but even they missed some things. Especially things they didn't like thinking about. AKA - The series of events leading Poof to change his name, and Peri's desperate attempt to hold onto his memories.
Chat send help this is so unbelievably self indulgent but LISTEN THEY WERE BROTHERS!!! THEY WERE BROTHERS AND THEN TIMMY WAS TORN AWAY FROM PERI!!!! THAT'S SO FUCKED UP!!!!!!! I HAD TO WRITE ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!
Anyways companion fic from Timmy's POV possibly in the wroks as well <3

ngl i 100% thought peri would be an antagonist
Tumblr media
he's the first fairy in thousands of years, born directly under the lineage of what has to be the most powerful fairy family line in current existence
(cosmo is a von strangle, and also the very reason fairies stopped having babies in the first place. he's incredibly powerful and nobody talks about it for some reason. it's clear peri inherited that destructive potential)
the second he was born, entire fairy species (including his own kin) were out to get him to use his volatile magic for their own selfish goals. he's nearly kidnapped thrice, and almost ends the universe on the same day
the threats keep coming, and he's being dragged to countless adventures that put him at risk. he literally ceases to exist more than once
anyway, i wouldn't be surprised if some form of expectations were placed upon him growing up. maybe not by his family, but he's famous (a teacher described him as such once); in fairy world, he's automatically adored and celebrated by adults and peers alike, which foop antagonizes (and tries to kill) him for
cosmo and wanda would, realistically, of course try to shield him from all this, but no matter what they do, he's inevitably isolated
people either want to use him, put him on a pedestal, or is a universally infamous human godchild who will forget all about him in a matter of years
(cosmo and wanda becoming godparents and learning (choosing) to eventually let go of their kids is one thing, but it can be assumed poof was still a young, underdeveloped child by the time timmy (+chloe, for what it's worth) got his memories wiped
and he sees that timmy's able to live his own happy life without him in it. he lost his brother just like that, and there's nothing he can do despite all his godly powers)
there's so, so many ways he could've gone wrong
thus, my initial thought was that peri was going to be a somewhat petty, "spoiled brat," and him becoming a godparent would be the result of spite or rebellion, which cosmo and wanda would feel entirely responsible for. I HATE MY PARENTS!! yada yada yada
it was a pleasant surprise to see all those clips of them loving each other. and it's not even because i doubted for a second that cosmo and wanda are bad parents, it's just what you usually expect when seeing shows from the 2000s, even if it doesn't make sense
all things considered, i'm very glad they went for the lighthearted silly family trope. not every show needs such conflicts, and showing healthy dynamics are better for kids overall
still, i find it interesting to think about if they'd gone down another route instead. i love me a pathetic cringy villain who tries (fails) to hate the people they love the most

Peri is not offended by Timmy HELLO
Let me say something: I understand that jokes about that r funny, but I don't think that the reason why Peri «isn’t Poof now» exists in the canon.
Like, we viewers in the real world know that Netflix has decided to remove homophobic slur from the name. But don’t think that Peri himself changed his name for the same reason. Most likely, he just grew up and decided that «Poof» was too banal and simple a name? Like, come on, it's the sound of granted wish AND also just the word that he kept repeating WHEN HE WAS A BABY. It would be very stupid if everyone was given names based on the sounds of their baby talk!
and PLEASE don't ask "do you think he resents Timmy for that name?" seriously. like, OF COURSE NOT. like, HOW COULD HE RESENT TIMMY FOR THAT?
Like, Timmy didn't mean anything bad???? Peri knows that for sure! Timmy named him Poof because Timmy himself was a kid who didn't take the name-topic very seriously. He found it cool that the baby was repeating the word "poof". and Timmy also knew that "Poof" was the sound of granted wish, and the existence of his younger godbrother was literally his wish!
Timmy called his godbrother Poof because he loved him from the first second of his existence :) Timmy is a wonderful brother! In s6ep1, he said "actually, it might be kind of cool to have a little godbrother or sister" and after that he never regretted wishing for a godbrother! and he never treated Poof in any other way than as a brother, although his relationship with Cosmo and Wanda could not always be called parent-child coded.
it always seemed to me that in the original show Timmy treated Poof carefully in a sense so that the audience would not have a canonical reason to hate this purple circle... :D But we have to take into account that for Peri-Poof himself now it remains a very positive memory, most likely.
"My brother was super caring! Even if he gave me that silly name. Well, at least it’s not Lil’ T! And I guess I need to thank him that I'm not Tallulah, Bill, Flontleroy, Keanu, Lil' Flo-Jo, Jose, Bartholomew, Dagmar, Little Ferrick, Baby Bosley, Little Baby Elvis, Oprah, Kajagoogoo or Baby to be named later….»

Can we talk about Peri for a minute?
I haven't seen the new show yet but I HAVE seen the original Fairly Odd Parents. And I find it worth wondering — How do you guys think Peri felt about Timmy after everything?
First of all, the obvious — Timmy was Peri's older brother. Timmy was there for his birth, Timmy named him, Timmy was there — Just to one day have to forget him. Do you think there's some resentment there? Sure, obviously Timmy had no choice in forgetting, but what was Peri supposed to think? He couldn't have been too old when Timmy lost his fairy godparents, so do you think he could truly internalize that it was just the rules?
And for another — I like to believe that Peri changed his name with knowledge of what "Poof" meant, with it being a slur. So do you think he was angry with Timmy for calling him such? Or did you think he tried playing it off as Timmy being young and not understanding?
I dunno. What opinions do y'all have? :3

I'm going to get some flack for this but—despite enjoying Fairly Odd Parents: A New Wish quite a lot, I find Timmy Turner was the more compelling protagonist.
Don't get me wrong, Hazel is a fantastic and lovable addition to the show, but I find a lot of her shenanigans aren't as fun or snappy as Timmy's.
I don't really see the reason why Hazel of all people needs fairies. Her brother is off at college but he visits and still clearly loves and cares about her. Her parents get busy from time to time but they're there when it matters and they also love her very much. Her mother is probably the busiest of the two, but she still makes time for her daughter.
The catalyst of the pilot is Hazel running away to see her brother because she wasn't handling the move right away, but very quickly after all this she is able to make friends and maintain an upbeat attitude.
I don't think Hazel needs to be soul crushingly miserable for the show to work, but maybe a spare line here or there about how Fairly World/Da Rules went through a MASSIVE overhaul after a certain, infamous, pink-hatted god-child shook things up could've been nice (Jorgen mentioning that the world has improved since Timmy was a kid, so the qualifications for misery have been loosened?).
It might be the childhood nostalgia talking, but I liked Timmy as a character. He was a ten year old boy who made wacky and wild decisions, whose character only got ruined from the show running too long. If Timmy had gotten the FOP:NW treatment, I think we could've had so much potential for character growth and continuity. (I've made the executive decision not to count seasons 9 and 10 as canon because everything up to that point felt OG!FOP to me).
I see posts saying that Timmy's problems were external while Hazel's are internal, but despite her supposed internal struggles, Hazel is very emotionally mature. Again, I don't think she needs to be MISERABLE and EXTREMELY insecure, but her life pre-fairies doesn't seem that different than her supposed life without. Even without Cosmo and Wanda, I'm sure she would've been able to befriend her classmates, eventually get through to Dev, and find happiness in her life.
I guess my fondness of Timmy is that his fairies were his family. Cosmo and Wanda were like his adopted parents. Poof/Peri was his brother. He had no one else. And I guess I wish I could've gotten a quality ending for him. I need closure! I wanna know how he's doing in FOP:NW. I want to see that he's happy and thriving (and maybe a reunion between him and his family).
Timmy, for all his childishness, selfishness, and pettiness, was a good kid at heart. He was ten years old for crying out loud! Ten year olds tend to be immature lil' kids. I excuse some of his wilder wishes. All he really wanted was acceptance and love and he cared for his Fairy God Parents so, so much. Cosmo and Wanda have a HALL OF TIMMY in their house, for crying out loud!
Hazel is a good protagonist and I'm glad she's in the show, but Timmy holds a special place in my heart. In my heart of hearts, the HALL OF TIMMY still exists somewhere in C+W's house/appartment and he will forever be their son.

I was rewatching old fairly odd parents episodes (I'm actually rewatching the whole series)
While watching I noticed in Superbaby, Cosmo and Wanda couldn't wish their baby back to them because Timmy's mom and dad loved Superbaby and magic couldn't bring him back.
This made me realize that Cosmo and Wanda were able to make Timmy disapear meaning that no one truly loved Timmy and I though that was horrible. Because Timmy's parents don't care about him at all, like they're terrible parents. (I'm pretty sure Cosmo and Wanda love Timmy, but in that episode I'm pretty sure they still thought of that love as temporary so they COULD wish him away)
This episode makes a lot of things really sad BUT on the bright side I discovered something this episode could do. At the end of the episode Superbaby is willingly returned, but no one's memories were erased so while Timmy may not able to remember his FAIRIES he can remember his super cool awesome little brother Poof because his memories still have him as his little space brother.
Bringing this on to my point, Peri visits Timmy often and Timmy doesn't question it because Peri isn't a stranger to him. Peri is still his brother except he remembers his adventure with him as being adventure's with his space baby brother.
Timmy still remember Peri bcuz I said so and I don't like seeing Peri sad
LISTEN THIS MIGHT NOT HAPPEN BECAUSE WRITERS ARE REALLY INCONSISTENT BUT THIS STILL GIVES SOME SOLID STANDING FOR TIMMY TO STILL HAVE A BROTHERLY RELATIONSHIP WISH PERI
Honestly I'm obsessing so much I might make a separate blog for Fairly odd parents
