AN: A few weeks ago I rewatched BBC's The Musketeers. It made he want a New Dream AU of it. So this it, just a fun little self-indulgence blurb of an AU. But I hope you enjoy. The cheating warning is only there because Rapunzel is married.

Brotherhood Headcanon (rapunzel series)

my original Headcanon for the brotherhood logo is that Adira, Hector and Quirin wanted to draw something INSIDE the circle

but they couldn’t think of what

so then hector got mad and scratched the logo they were designing bc rage™

But Adira and Quirin saw it and were like chill with it bc it looks badass

So they presented it to Edmund

And the badass brotherhood logo was born ✨✨

Then they got mind controlled….

Random Lists of TTS headcanons (mostly about Quirin and the Dark Kingdom) that I have:

Quirin became a Brotherhood member when he had a 'Home Alone' moment with Edmund and his wife because he thought they thieves (they broke in because it was raining HORRIBLY)

Quirin was in charge of the Brotherhood, in the sense that although Edmund as the King was in charge, Quirin was the one dealing with the group as a whole

There were more Brotherhood members, but they either retired, died or are simply lost in the world after the fall of the Dark Kingdom

The Brotherhood members had noble titles and pieces of land, Quirin had a BIG farming land (as the head in charge) and he used to help around before the Kingdom Fell. He used a few techniques he learned later on when he became a full time farmer (not all because different crops and different types of land)

You can find small communities from the Dark Kingdom moving around still, looking for some place to settle (and they eagerly go back to the Kingdom when Edmund starts rebuilding it)

The DK and Corona used to have a little bit of Beef because sun vs moon, that's why Quirin settling (probably with other people, lbh) there with the piece of the scroll was a good move

Corona was funded or helped fund by Demanitus

Demanitus is originally from the Dark Kingdom

Quirin was in the process of retiring when the Dark Kingdom fell

The Brotherhood all have specific face tattoos, but by the time Eugene was born they were only mandatory to use during events and things like that, hence why Quirin didn't have one, though if you wanted a permanent tattoo you could have it (hence Adira and Hector)

OR all the tattoos are temporary, Adira and Hector just have been reapplying theirs

The Great Tree used to be the border for the Dark Kingdom, hence why Hector set up shop in it

the Queen Ghost we saw was the one who helped fight against Zhan Tiri the first time around

Edmund (or at least, the Monarch that came before him) was the one who gave the Mind Trap to the Keeper, since he didn't have Any itent to use it

The place where the Mind Trap was was very Hush Hush, Cassandra only found out thanks to Zhan Tiri finding it out herself, BUT the existence of the Mind Trap was at least well known in the DK and was one of the 'cons' to joining the Brotherhood

The Mind Trap was originally meant to make sure that the Brotherhood wouldn't turn against the crown, the moonstone And to make sure that if a fight every happened, they would act in harmony. It's a 'made with good itentions, Very Bad Execution type of thing'

Eugene didn't reject his royal title from the DK, but he won't be it's King Outside of possibly becoming a temporary one until one of his and Rapunzel's kids are old enough to take over

To try and fix the plothole in season 3: people Forgot that Quirin was a Brotherhood member AND they had contacted (or at least TRIED TO) Adira and Hector at some point and they thought they weren't under Cassandra's control

Eugene grew a couple of inches between the movie and the series and that was because the two times he was healed by Rapunzel, he was healed

People either think that Cassandra was dead OR Cassandra was actually banned from Corona (and the Dark Kingdom) - she isn't getting away without consequences people

Varian had a therapist while in prison that he was forced to see, wether or not they worked or if they were a Saporian spy I haven't decided yet

The ACTUAL reason why the resistence against the Saporian was so small wasn't because of 'loyalty to the crown', it was because they had tried and it Blew on their faces and thus King Frederik and Queen Arianna aren't the only victims of memory wipe. Rapunzel doesn't know this because, well, would you admit to the rebellion to the crown?

Eugene and Lance, later on, are volunteers on Orphanages in Corona and Eugene got a LOT of funds given to them and goes to personally check to see if they are being used properly and that the kids are being taken care of well

the DK fondly call Eugene the 'fail prince' not because of anything he did but because his fighting skills are far below what the royal standard was.

I said this before but: The Queen of the Dark Kingdom trid to destroy the Moonstone, possibly because she was plagued by nightmares of what would happen in the future/of the stone hurting the Kingdom and her family

Comparing the Text of the "TANGLED: Before the Ever After SERIES BIBLE" and the "Tangled The Series: Series BIBLE"

I wanted to compare the text from the two Tangled bibles from the Disney leaks since there seemed to be a lot of overlap in the language and I was interested to see what had changed between the initial BEA bible(2015) and the TTS series bible(2018).

I'm in the asoiaf fandom and we do this with old George RR Martian drafts and manuscripts all the time, a sort of literary archeology. I took the plain text of both documents and ran a comparison to see what had changed between the two bibles. ((My dumbass put the 2018 TTS document as the original and the 2015 BEA doc as the "modified" one. So the Struck through text is actually the older/original/BEA.))

So obviously, the TTS bible was far longer since it was created and modified far later into development and even after wrap. It encompasses waaay more material. So naturally, all the S2 material outside if a brief synopsis was not in the BEA.

S1 Characters that do not appear in the 2015 BEA bible, but do in the 2018 TTS bible include: Angry, Red, Sugarby, Monty(even though his episode was), WRECK MARAUDER (Same as Monty), Fidella, and surprisingly: Stan and Pete.

And most surprising of all: the Captain didn't have a character profile in that initial document even though I could swear he has more episodes than characters like Lance, Varian, Quirin, and Xavier who all do have profiles in the 2015 BEA one.

I wonder if this indicates the order in which the characters were developed, or if they had different initial plans to use certain characters with more frequency and that didn't work out.

And as I sort of mentioned, in the BEA document, there were only summaries of six episodes after the special; "Challenge of the Brave," "Rapunzel's Enemy," "Cassandra Vs. Eugene," "In Like Flynn," "Under Wraps," and ""Fitzherbert PI."

It's fascinating to me how most of these are Cass and Eugene focused eps, with only one truly Raps focused one.

Anyway...

First big difference in the text:

By far the most common and consistent change between versions was Cassandra's job.

In 2015 in the Before Ever After pitch, she was consistently referred to as a "handmaiden" and then as of the 2018 TTS series bible this was changed everywhere to "lady in waiting".

I always wondered about this shift. At first I wondered if the change was to distance the show from the wildly successful, but thematically dark/adult "Handmaid's Tale" which came out within like a month of TTS, but now I'm wondering if it was more to align her thematically with her later characterization of "the Lady in waiting who is sick of waiting." It's probably that latter option. But I did kind of prefer the handmaiden angle since a lady in waiting is still comparatively powerful nobility. And imo a "maid" taking on a Kingdom is way more sympathetic than a lady doing so. It could have just added that extra layer of class conflict, but oh well.

No matter the reason, "Handmaiden" is out, "Lady in waiting" is in!

Attila got a little fleshing out between versions! Though this never seemed to materialize. I almost wonder if someone needed to hit a word-limit or something. I would have liked to see an ep showing Attila more and more integrated into Coronan society. See his progress from S1 to S3.

It seems the decision to have the full entourage outside of the main three on the mission might have been a later addition. (Alternatively the 2015 bible might have just had need to be more short and concise with the S2 details.)

It did seem(unfortunately) like the spare 5 didn't contribute much to the overarching plot, so I wouldn't be surprised if that were true. (And I'm including the Hookfoot filler episodes with that.) It would have looked pretty different, but might have been more character focused if they had gone in that direction.

Seems the Lorb episode was originally REALLY different...

The idea of them being mythical leaf people was a later addition, as well as the island aspect of the setting.

And it looked like the human "distinct tribe of people" were originally going to be worshiping Rapunzel and not Pascal. I can certainly see why they changed this so much.

It would be hard for Raps to beat the Demigoddess allegations and maintain the everyman vibe, plus the God Guise/Cargo Cult tropes are awkward as hell in that context.

No but really, no distinct mention of Adira or someone in her role. I wonder if the idea of discord/disagreement among the Brotherhood members didn't come about until later.

This is pretty cool! I didn't know that "Plus Est En Vous" seemed to be the initial name for the special! Then it got changed and used for the finale.

It also looks like "Cassandra vs. Eugene" was a pretty different episode initially as well.

It looks like originally, the scavenger hunt was not intended to lock them in the dungeons, and the Stabbingtons weren't involved.

I'm kind of of two minds on this one since on the one hand I like when decisions are deliberate and not just a matter of coincidence gives the characters agency. Plus I like the Stabbington's as villains and was glad to see them. But on the other hand, Rapunzel locking people in a cell when being locked away against her will is so central to her character and no one ever calling her out for it was so off-putting to me. Plus it made the Stabbingtons much less threatening.

I almost want to see that original version of that ep. I wonder if it would have been more character-focused.

And the last little changes I noticed were to "In Like Flynn" where they changed the word "crime" to "scheme" in the description and dropped the "King" for just "Frederic" probably just to convey the lighter tone of the episode better.

Oh, and one more!

The "Moonstone" didn't seem to be named as of BEA and there was some intentional(?) ambiguity about Edmond and his title and origin.

Overall not a lot of big differences. But it was a bit surprising what elements and characters where emphasized compared to what ended up manifesting in the show.

A hill I will die on is the fact that the brotherhood were an amazing concept but there potential was wasted. I would have loved to see more of them but unfortunately they were only used when convenient for the plot.

I know for a fact that Adira falls into this, and I suspect the rest of the Brotherhood do, too: I was told by crew that they didn't know what to do with Adira. That they invented this cool character to fill a specific niche, but didn't know what else to have her do. That's why she was so in-and-out of the traveling party. That was why Cassandra's animosity towards her ended up being an animosity towards Rapunzel instead. And I suspect -- knowing what we know about the showrunner -- that dear CS was scared that people would like her more than Cassandra, just like how people liked Varian more. (Not everyone, obviously, but that he got such a big and loud fanbase clearly didn't sit well with Mr. Executive Producer.)

I also suspect that, if they didn't know what to do with Adira, they sure as hell didn't know what to do with the rest of the Brotherhood. That's why the Mind Trap is such a weird and poorly thought-out concept. (I maintain that the fact that a mind control device can be handed over to someone under its influence is insidious, but also backwards.)

Anyway, I'm not nearly as into the Brotherhood as a lot of the people who are active in the tags, but I agree that they're an amazing concept with wasted potential. There also should be more than four of them.

And also, unpopular opinion, but Varian isn't a part of the Brotherhood, just by association. He's got nothing to do with it. Neither does Eugene. Just because their dads are indoctrinated doesn't mean that they're going to follow suit. Neither one of them knew anything about it before the events of the series, and I somehow doubt they'd look at the Brotherhood now and say, "Yeah, I want to be a part of that!"

Lies Of P Favorite Character Poll

I thought it would be a good idea to make a contest of what people consider their favorite characters from the game. These are the main characters of the game, I didn't add minor Npcs. It´s a small poll 20 characters in total.

The matches are randomly generated, I put the names in wheelofnames, so as to not be biased, I´m also not voting myself.

To avoid something like cheating, I´m putting it so it has to be answered by a gmail account. I´ll close it in 24 hours, currently where I live it's 8pm so, by 8pm the next day.

After that, I´ll announce the winners and move into the next round, hope to see what favorite characters the fandom has. <3

This a dark kingdom AU I made with my friend!

For those wondering Varian is saying something along the lines of: "Did you know? So many plants grow in Corona, they can be vegetarian!" In Siberian (Translation courtesy of google translate :D)

Basically the AU is that for whatever reason the Dark kingdom didn't fall and is a hidden kingdom no one knows about. The Brotherhoods job is to go out to the rest of the world just to see what's up. Once Fredrick uses it the brotherhoods main job is just to make sure the Moonstone doesn't throw a hissy fit and kill everyone.

Eugene is raised like a prince and Varian as a Brotherhood member. Eugene is very rambunctious and careless. Varian wants to start doing research on the annual "horizon lights" and is sure have something to do with the Sunflower but Edmund keeps refusing.

Then on the winter stolcice celebration Eugene manages to ruin it. In order to teach him some humility Edmund sends him on Varians research quest to Corona. Cue movie events.

All these sketches are pretty old except the rhino one. Clothing was mainly inspired by east Siberian clothing in the last one. The first few I completely forgot the reference o-o,

RISING MOON UPDATE

Yes, yes, I've been gone for a while. However, now I have returned, and I have returned with news on the unfortunate tales of our favorite rhino man. As I have mentioned before, we're nearing the end of this adventure, but we are closer to the end than some of you might have thought. I am currently working on the very last chapters. Chapters, plural. I felt that it would be better to release the final chapter and the epilogue of Rising Moon at the same time. This is why the next update has been so long coming. But rest assured, we're getting there. You can expect the final two instalments of the Child of the Moon duology sometime in the next 7 to 10 ish days. I will be keeping you all updated on that front. Until then, stay safe, and God bless you all!
