Jay having issues with his identity when will you be resolved

Okay but seriously Jay having constant issues related to his identity, how he presents himself, how others perceive him, who he is, is honestly really important to me.

At the beginning of the series it began with Jay having issues of his place within the world itself, similarly to all of the other ninja. He struggled to understand what his purpose was and focused on his inventions as a means to give himself meaning. And it did.

Jay’s inventions were a big part of his personality as they gave him something to achieve and something that was able to catch the eyes of others. Jay wanted to be someone important, someone known. And until Wu came around he struggled to find a way to ease that need within him.

He struggled with that in the first season i think, trying to fit into the role that was given to him as well as understanding how to morph it into exactly what he wants.

Later, the need to find his purpose in life bled into the need to find his purpose on the team, and to understand his worth as a teammate. Jay had very strong insecurities, possible due to his time in the junkyard, with how he was perceived by others as well as not being worthless to them. He often projected these insecurities onto others and let them control his emotions, making him lash out at others as well as place his own wants and desires onto them out of his own desperation.

The most key characters he did that too was Cole (during rebooted and tournament of elements, when he fought Cole over Nya, who didn’t even want them to do that and Cole who lowkey had no idea wth was going on), Nya during Nadakhan’s seasons (we all knows what I’m talking about), and Kai (when Nya died).

Of course insecurities about yourself and your future is not an excuse to act the way he did, but it does explain a lot of his actions. Most of the time, it had to do with how he felt inadequate. He didn’t feel like he did enough, that it was his fault things went wrong in such a personal way, and eh projected that onto others and put the blame on them verbally. Bro views Nya as the most perfect person alive so he wouldn’t blame her for anything, but in the EARLY SEASONS (NOT the late ones) he often placed accidental expectations onto Nya to help fill in with the inadequacy, and that why he often chased after Nya and blocked her path in that one season, because he felt he needed her.

So, he’s already had an identity crisis in relation to his purpose as well as how others view him, and he’s fixed and grown on both. He had more confidence in himself and who he is, and he no longer lashes out (as much) on to people. He is a lot more sure about his place on the team as well as his power and worth and that is very obvious. He also no longer places such high expectations onto Nya or anyone else, he has a lot more of an open mind and a more mature outlook on everything.

Now he needs to have a crisis about who he is. Not what he is, but who.

Jay, before the merge, was very confident in who he is. His personality was not something he was ashamed nor insecure of like how he was about his skills or about his purpose. But now we get to watch Jay in a completely new light and see him struggle with finding out who he is. What makes him him? What makes him laugh, cry, scream? What does he love and what does he hate? Thats what I’m hoping to see him struggle through during season 3.

Man this got so long and is probably just a long ramble but like jay having identity issues is literally just a special him thing at this rate

Was pondering how Mark’s rigid ass mask/lens is prob a Budget Thing (since squishy, bendy lens are pretty much a mandate for all hero animated series, like JL, BTAS, TNBA, Spider-Man, etc), and then I was slapped with a vision of Mark in a more JL/BTAS-ish style and I had to see it through. I see so much of "is post-crisis Robin Jason an innocent little sweetie-pie or a mean aggro delinquent" and after reading through all of his batman and detective comic issues post-crisis I think i can safely say he's... an introverted and distrustful, but altogether friendly teen boy who has convinced himself to the deepest level that he is an Adult Man, and also does not hold a particularly good view of adults.

The sweet little babypie characterization falls a little short (assuming we aren't being too silly with it, there's plenty of that in the comedy issues of tec) because it disregards the part where he's a jaded teenager who is constantly going off and trying to take care of his own problems like "his own man" and reacts negatively to any breach of trust or move to take care of him. But negative doesn't mean "violent and rageful." The delinquent angle is incorrect because not only is his disposition peppy, silly, and agreeable most of the time, but assuming the problem upsetting him isn't a predator or the guy who killed his dad (and three out of four canon instances it is a predator to be clear) he reacts to emotional turmoil with Bruce by bedrotting, sulking, communicating through notes, and overall being avoidant. The only times he lashes out are when Bruce is calling him out or after Bruce told him to his face that he chose to look for the Joker over looking for him, and that case of "lashing out" is just getting a little snarky.

More than anything his main personality trait (besides being silly, a robin staple) is kinda coming into this parentified as fuck. Not that it's Catherine's fault, but it really shaped his character, like one of the first things he says to Bruce (after he promised not to turn Jason in to the foster system) is that he kept her fed and warm as long as he could like he wasn't her ten year old child when he started. It's why he views himself on the same level as adults and why he gets all closed off at any insinuation that he needs to be taken care of, both of which heavily inform his dynamic with Bruce. He's constantly checking in on Bruce's wellbeing, like half of Batman: the Cult is just him taking care of Bruce while he recuperates from being brainwashed. (Side note, he's also constantly asking Bruce stuff like "what's your relationship like with this woman or this rogue or the concept of religion, how did that play out, how do you feel about it?" he is Very chatty like that.) The first thing he does when Sheila tells him her (revised to exclude medical malpractice) life story is hold HER and try to affirm her struggle. After a while he starts to act more childish with Bruce (although he doesn't really stop trying to brush off attempts to care for him) but as soon as Bruce admits he prioritized crimefighting over Jason and didn't show up to look after Jason like Jason assumed he came there for, Jason snaps back to acting very independent and rejecting any attempts to be looked after on any terms other than some kind of "equals" thing, which he isn't, as he's a 15 year old boy. Like. He's very sweet to his former neighbor, but also he refers to being a homeless child and the sole provider in his condemned building living situation as "getting by" to her.

He's definitely not. some bloodthirsty delinquent, at least to anyone who's not an uber-misogynistic predator, and he like demonstrably is a pretty sweet kid. It's just that when people say he's a sweet kid they kinda just jump to "untraumatized eight-year-old who grew up in a loving family and just got a new puppy from Santa" instead of "good hearted and curious teenager who has trust issues and is deeply uncomfortable with being taken care of, so kinda just compromises by pretending his dad is a Friend Doing him a Solid and acts like his kid only when he has plausible deniability so he can't get the rug pulled out from under him." Of course. He does kinda get the rug pulled out from under him despite all that. So there's that.

Celeste Sallow: OK THIS IS THE NAME IM SUPER PROUD OF BAHAHA because not only does the name celeste relate to the stars (in typical ravenclaw fashion...clora picked the name) but celeste sallow is also an alliteration. BUT, its an alliteration that begins with a C, which means clora gets to match with celeste in the form of both of their names starting with a C, whereas sebastian gets to match with celeste because both of their names are an alliteration/they're alliteration allies🥹ITS THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS!🥳

Lewis Sallow: as for lewis, if you've read my fic then you know that seb has a vendetta against names that start with an L bahaha, but 'lewis' was actually HIS idea. when celeste was born, seb wanted to find a muggle story to read to her, since clora's favourite story is ALSO a muggle one (sherlock), and he wanted to stick with tradition. so he ended up finding alice in wonderland, which he loved because of how adventurous and clever alice was and of how much she reminded him of clora and celeste (both personality and looks wise). it became his favourite for those reasons, to the point that when they had lewis, sebastian overcame his L-name hatred by naming their son after lewis carroll.

Houses: celeste could have been sorted into either gryffindor or slytherin, but ultimately ends up in slytherin because she wants to be like seb. kinda like how clora also probably could have been in gryffindor, tbh. as for lewis.....him being 10000% in ravenclaw doesnt need any explanation BAHA, just look at him.

Appearance: since clora has a tiny bit of veela blood in her, thats obvs passed down to their kids, too, and so they mostly take after her as a result of it. but there's still little bits of seb that shine through in each of the kids: for lewis its his brown curly hair, and for celeste its her complexion/freckles. and the fact that celeste looks so similar to clora only doubles up sebastian's stress/protective instincts when he watches her BAHAH. he's ofc still proud that she takes after him so closely, but seb also cant deny that he wishes it had been their SON that had taken after him instead, to keep her out of danger.

Celeste & Lewis: for celeste and lewis’ relationship, celeste is a super proud big sister, and treats lewis kinda like how seb treats clora. if there's anything that needs to be done, she offers to do it for him. and although she doesn’t have the patience to read stories herself, she loves playing outside and having lewis read to her in the background, and loves to act out/use his stories to fuel her imagination. and lewis makes sure to pick stories that he KNOWS she’ll like (which mostly involve heroic and daring feats of adventurers or pirates. he's tried to read more classic fairytales and romances to her a few times, but celeste always gets bored). she loves to draw though, so sometimes when lewis reads books that have no pictures, she'll draw them herself.

Celeste & Seb/Clora: celeste is a daddy's girl LOL and always tries to impress seb with the stuff she does, especially after hearing how HE was at her age, and so its half to impress and half because shes competitive that she wants to do the same/be just as good. and seb always gets a kick out of hearing her feats in the crossed wands club, or in defense against the dark arts class, and he also goads her on, telling her she'll have to do better than that if she wants to be as good as HE was. and whenever celeste gets detention, clora always stresses and asks why, whereas seb just tries to keep the smirk off his face. as for celeste and clora, clora also reads to celeste, and bakes and cooks with her, which is something celeste actually likes doing. not only because it keeps her busy and she likes to help and get messy in general, but also because she likes the fact that it results in good food afterwards LOL, and constantly asks when things can be taken out of the oven. also, for as tomboy-y as celeste is, she honestly doesn't mind/likes the clothing that clora puts her in and likes when clora dresses her up, bc it makes her look like one of the princesses from the storybooks, and it just amuses her more than anything else. once she enters hogwarts, though, its mostly trousers. but she still DOES like the occasional girly clothing.

Lewis & Seb/Clora: lewis is a momma's boy LOL and unlike celeste, doesnt care about duelling or of proving himself or anything like that, and is only concerned with stories and his future studies. so ofc clora had to show him sherlock, which he naturally loved. it even inspired lewis to want to write his own stories, so that he could challenge his own skill and see if he could, but also because he wants his mom to read them, and likes the idea of writing his own sherlock-esque story with equations and mysteries to be solved that he can offer her. lewis also wants to write a book for celeste as well, bc although he wont admit it, he basically wants to write a story tailor-made for her and her interests. one that he thinks will have everything she’d love in it. and part of it is genuinely because he WANTS to do it for her, but the other part of it is also for his ego, and to see if he CAN write a compelling story, and write something that would actually get THE hyperactive celeste to sit down and read it in its entirety (not to mention of her own volition). as for with seb, lewis looks up to him more than anyone else, due to how well-rounded he is and how hes so good at practical stuff AND studying, and he kinda sees seb as a main character/protagonist from one of his books, and uses sebastian as inspiration for his own stories. if hes stuck on what he thinks the dashing main character should do next, he'll ask his dad what HE would do, which results in seb getting very weird questions that he nonetheless is always happy to answer. also, when lewis is older and finally learns the full story of what happened with clora and seb and ranrok and rookwood, he writes their story in novel form, except he just changes their names/some of the details, and it becomes a best seller LOL. and i didnt know where to put this, but the four of them all read a story before bed every night, with lewis in the middle and seb and clora on either side of him. though celeste stands at the foot of the bed, basically doing a charade/mime show of what theyre reading, and putting on a little play to go along with it BAHHA.

OK thats all i can think of for now ive yapped enough😩 if youve read all of this ur a real one.... ive also considered giving them a 3rd (and last) child, which would be a boy that looks exactly like seb, and seb would just be praying like please.....let this son take after me🧎‍♂️🙏 BAHHA

Mike Wheeler is a Gay mess

MY THOUGHTS ON REPRESENTATION/SYMBOLISM ABOUT THAT AWKWARD KISS SCENE AT THE END OF SEASON 3

As we all know Mike Wheeler did not kiss El back, he stood there with his eyes open, arms at his side and then is left there looking more confused then ever.

Want I want to look at in the scene is the Closet and Bear

Let’s talk about the Closet first:

El and Mike are standing infront of the closet, which I find really interesting for them to be placed there.

First we have El, not being able to use her powers to reach the teddy bear so Mike steps and grabs it for her.

Right, he’s the one to reach into the closet. Which now could be the beginning of something, that something of him taking a step into the closet. If you understand what I’m saying here.

…

Then after the awkward kiss, El walks away, leaving Mike near the closest, making no steps to move at all.

He realized he didn’t like that kiss, now questioning something about himself.

So since he didn’t move my point is that he’s now in the closet— and backing that up is what I said before of him reaching into the closet, grabbing what was in the closet.

For that - he doesn’t love El romantically and is starting to realize he has feelings for someone else…

Now to add to all that - The representation of the Teddy bear:

I think the bear could represent Mike’s love and for who he thinks he loves (cough cough El)

As we know El couldn’t reach the bear in the first place bc she wasn’t tall enough, so tries with her powers— this represents and foreshadowing season 4 of her trying to reach (in this case) for Mike’s love for her.

Since she couldn’t reach it, Mike does. Mike hands her his love or this case his actually love of Will, since this bear came from the closet. He is able to reach into the closet bc that is where his Love lies, not El, bc he doesn’t love her like that and El can’t make Mike love her, she can’t force him like she tried to force the bear down—

—like in season 4, questioning Mike if he still loves her.

“But you don’t love me anymore?”

To put it as simply as I can:

The bear represents Mike’s love but a love he put into the wrong hands bc actually he (for the time being) should have left it where it was. His love for Will is in the closet, his feelings for Will are hidden away… for now. He doesn’t quite understand what to do with this thing called Love so he gives it to El while he shouldn’t be.

And so after he stands there confused, he realizes ‘I gave my love to the wrong person’ leaving him standing next to the closet after that realization. He’s almost, confused, sad, in the dark now about his feelings since there is no more light coming from the closet.

I don’t think this is truly what the show wants you to get at here, I just love reaching, and over analyzing things bc it’s fun.

Morro didn’t want to be saved. He was far too tired and far too uncaring at that point to have the will to live again. But he wanted a second chance. He wanted to do more. He wanted to have his choices matter and he wanted to leave on a better note and he desperately wanted to ignore that small part inside of him forcing him to keep his arm up, to keep reaching forward for something he doesn’t deserve again.

Something he didn’t deserve, and couldn’t get, again.

The more I read it the more I think it doesn’t really involve the ship, but I tried. More importantly though I wanna emphasize how their relationship is though. BLU Spy loves messing with RED Engie, and RED Engie is constantly paranoid with his surroundings, ESPECIALLY around his babies (his machines). So I thought, if RED Engie was able to pull one over on BLU Spy, how would Spy react?..

Conclusion: Spy doesn’t care. He finds Engie “amusing”.

I cannot stress enough, how important I think this scene is for Endo and Takiishi's relationship

Because Umemiya has just told him "the trick to being with someone who'll change your world". Hes told him to start calling people by their names, to awknowledge them, to show them that he sees them. Because that is the way you let someone affect and influence you, by first awknowledging that they exist.

He then proceeds to immediately follow this advice, and in my opinion sort of test it out, and call Umemiya by name.

Now, what I think is so incredibly important, is him calling Endo by name. Him actively and consciously choosing to awknowledge him and his existence, and show him that he's looking at him.

Because he could've just, not done that. Or he could've done it later. But I think it is incredibly important that he does it immediately. He makes the decision to show Endo that he sees him, something that Endo likely hasn't experienced even once in their years together.

And I don't know, maybe I'm just stating the obvious or something..

But it's just such an important little scene, because this wasn't something Endo thought he was ever going to get. He was fully ready to keep on going as usual, doing and working towards what Takiishi wants, to find Takiishi interesting people so he can use Umemiya's advice on someone other than him.

But in just this small moment, hes validated Endo's entire existence, that he does mean something to Takiishi, and that maybe he can have the things he truly loves.

I also really don't think that Endo has expressed what he wants or needs to Takiishi, like ever. They really do not communicate well. But this scene shows us thta they're going to get better, that they are going to start understanding each other more.
