sum! "We've never met but our showers are on opposite sides of the same apartment wall and when we end up showering at the same time, we sometimes sing duets." (guess where i thought of this one...)

i love this prompt sm and it literally is grabbing me by the shoulders, screaming in my face - "THIS IS JAKE PERALTA AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT BESIDES POST IT"

You move into a new apartment, you got a fair warning before moving in that you're neighbor has a shower directly opposite of the wall of yours. So if you both take a shower at the same time you might hear each other.

You were fine with that. You're fine with thin walls, hearing your neighbor have a entire concert in the shower... oh well. The apartments sorta cheap.

This somewhat annoyment was before and only before you figured out he was a swiftie, then you tried to get in the shower at the same time constantly.

The man seemed to catch onto how you would always start showering as he would begin. What else he notices, you would sing duets together. Everytime he would play a Taylor song in the shower, you would sing along with him.

You both recently would give each other short term solo's during songs. It wasn't only Taylor Swift that played, sometimes it was just early 2000's songs. Still you would duet together nonetheless.

You would go to work and tell your friends about your neighbor that you know nothing about, besides his music taste.

Oblivious to you Jake had been doing the same thing at work.

"Charles!" He whisper yelled across the bullpenn, coming from the elevator. 

He fangirled to Charles about what was happening. Charles was practically begging him to ask you out, apparently he wanted a double date with Jake. Soon.

When you both got home at the same time, which Jake planned, he was going to ask you for your number. Maybe. If he psychs himself up enough.

Because worst case scenario wasn't that you "reject him". Worst case was you get weirded out, you don't ever talk to him again, you avoid him, you never do the shower concert duet thing whatever again.

You don't say anything as your unlocking your apartment, feeling awkward about seeing him. He knows your music taste. That's a detail not many people get to find out about each other. He heard you scream sing "You Belong With Me" in the shower.

"Hey, uh.." Jake said nervously, while walking up to you.

You stop unlocking the door, taking a deep nervous breath in, and putting on a smile.

"Uh, my names Jake. I'm the neighbor that you uh-" You cut him off before he finishes speaking.

"I know what we do." You say with a somewhat nervous snicker, "I'm (y/n)"

He smiles at you, "Hi. Uh, I was just wondering if I could take you out maybe sometime... and maybe get your number with it?"

Your smile got twice as big, you could feel it. You nod your head, not feeling any words possibly coming out anytime soon.

"Really?!" He said excitedly, before starting his cool guy persona again, "I meannnn, coolcoolcoolcoolcool..."

"So I can drive you to a restaurant of your choice at 9:30 on saturday? I'm a police officer, I work weekdays and I work late."

No. He had plans on friday to rewatch every single die hard movie. Also using Saturday gave him plenty of time to be ready to take you out.

"Sounds good, bring Taylor." You say before getting into your apartment.

Alright, my muse decided to get away with a new idea, that i am refusing to write at the moment because i have a bunch of works that i have to finish but i will write the general idea in here.

I read a Brookyn 99 fic once of a different fandom, as well as watched the series and somehow I thoguht what if it was with the supernatural characters? But not in a way that it would normally be done, no, I dont want Dean nor Cas as Jake and Amy, no, I want them to be like Hitchcock and Scully, with some differences, let me explain

So first we would have our main characters, right? So I am thinking something like

Sam as Boyle

Jo as Rosa

Charlie as Gina

Dean and Cas as Hitchcock and Scully

Ruffus as Jeffords

Bobby as Holt (Crowley is Bobby´s husband)

And our main characters: Adam as Jake and Michael as Amy

And of course the story would focus on the main pair of Michael and Adam, but with nods to Destiel in the background, how you might ask?

Well, for starters, for those who havent seen B99, the pilot presents the squad with Terry giving Holt a quick verison of everyone. So in my version Rufus would be introducing the squad to Bobby and when it is time for Dean and Cas, he would be like

Rufus: Oh yes, that is Destiel

Bobby: Destiel?

Rufus: Yeah, Dean and Castiel, they do everything together and honestly it is more trouble that it is worth separating them

Bobby: They are holding hands while writing reports

Rufus: Yes, they tend to do that all the time

Bobby: That cant be efficient

Rufus: Honestly cap, we are not even sure if Castiel is actually hired here, he kinda of just showed up one day and started to trail after Dean, and Dean let him

Bobby: So they are together?

Rufus: We are inclined to believe so

Bobby: Arent Sam and Adam Dean´s siblings?

Rufus: Yes and they are just as confused as the rest of us

And then the whole subplot would be everyone else trying to find out whether a) Cas is actually supposed to be in the bullpen and b) if Dean and Cas are married or in a relationship

suddenly thinking about how brookyn 99 is some of the most effective copaganda out there because even when they're doing really questionable shit it's all framed as really goofy and light and the characters are endearing (to most people)

and then there's like the closer, which is also copaganda, but instead you end up blatantly cheering for people who intimidate witnesses and manipulate people into confessions and set up criminals to be killed. and it's not even that it's never questioned, there's a massive arc around it and one of the (eventually) most popular characters is in internal affairs

this isn't an indictment for watching or enjoying either--i outright adore the closer, it's one of my longest standing fandoms, and i root for brenda leigh as much as anyone--but sometimes i think about all the different ways these shows frame law enforcement and it's like 1) for the lolz 2) they're actually just and true and caring (L&O:SVU, etc) or 3) their actions are justified or at least morally grey because the people they're acting against are so much worse

Like it’s literally my favorite show but at the end of the day I know all cops are bad because Brooklyn 99 is a work of fiction and literally doesn’t in any way depict actual police officers ?????? Just like how parks and rec doesn’t in any way depict actual parks and recreation departments ???? Like y’all it’s a work of comedic fiction and doesn’t make any of us who enjoy it less likely to hate cops

So this is how you were gonna meet his friends, through a game?

"It's not a game! It's a very specific routine we do every Halloween. We become criminals." He said all of this with no underlying joking tone. Just an 'evil' smirk. Finger tips touching each other as he rests his forearms on the table as he tells you his plan.

"Ah so New York's Finest are really the worst ones, hm? You become criminals annually?" You say jokingly, only he didn't find it funny even a little bit.

His shoulders slumped as he let his bottom lip pout the tiniest bit, his voice becoming whiny as well, "Do you wanna help me or not?!"

You only could chuckle at the sight. He looked so adorable when he was frustrated.

You let out a dramatic sigh, a playful smirk staining your lips, "Fineee, I guess I'll help you publicly embarrass your coworkers."

His pout turned to a smile of amusement and pure joy, "Perfect!"

So the plan was...

The award was to be held in a plastic box again this year. You didn't work there so buy a janitor costume, they'll never realize. Except, they can check purchasing history at the station. So you bribe a janitor-

"We're taking the clothes off of a janitor's back?" You ask with faux-concern, "Why don't I buy janitors costume at like a costume store thats like an hour away if you're so concerned about it? I'll use cash."

You could've sworn his eyes lit up when you said that.

The day of the heist went just according to plan and you had the award the whole time until the last 30 minutes when you pawned it off to Jake, where he kept it in his desk (a place no one would dare to go or search). It was perfect. He played dumb and was as feisty as ever, acting like he had no idea where the trophy could possibly be. That Holt must have the award because who else would?

After the heist was officially over and he was bragging about winning is when they all started asking questions.

"How'd you even pull this off, we checked all around your desk and you're wearing skinny jeans so you can't hide anything?" Rosa asked, arms crossed.

"Well first of all, was it necessary to bring up my super cool and super stylish jeans?" He playfully whines, "second of all, let me show you my partner, in more ways than one."

He points to you and you stopped the fake sweeping you were doing in the corner, taking the hat off. You smile at them and wave, "Nice to meet you all! Jake has said so much about you."
