While I've posted this image before, I recently re-scanned the negative for more detail in the shadows. This was taken in the fall of 1981 (42 years ago) when I first moved to Brooklyn.
The entire 4 x 5 inch negative is shown here. As for the subject matter, no caption needed given today's date.

Sometimes it feels like I’m standing at the BOTTOM of the hill when training isn’t going well - I’m not hitting my paces, easy runs feel exhausting, and I question if I’ll ever reach my goal. But then, it excites me because I know that from that point on every time I put on my shoes and head out that door the only way now is UP. I didn’t hit my paces in my previous workout, so I joined @definenewyorkrunclub for their new Thursday night hill workout last night. Aside from the rain, it felt so refreshing to follow Coach @cwm1113 ‘s lead as a runner and the Legendary OG Hill Coach @arunninglifetc as a student. Thank you for your guidance last night and pushing or pulling me up on those last two reps 🙏 And of course it’s always great to meet other runners who are on similar journeys. I love the #NYCRunningCommunity . _ #definenewyorkrunclub #hillworkout #brooklynpromenade #startedfromthebottomnowwehere #onlywayisup #stravarun #marathontraining (at Brooklyn Heights Promenade) https://www.instagram.com/p/CR-IP8AHQ_9/?utm_medium=tumblr

Brooklyn Heights is an affluent residential neighborhood within the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The neighborhood is bounded by Old Fulton Street near the Brooklyn Bridge on the north, Cadman Plaza West on the east, Atlantic Avenue on the south, and the Brooklyn–Queens Expressway or the East River on the west. Adjacent neighborhoods are Dumbo to the north, Downtown Brooklyn to the east, and Cobble Hill and Boerum Hill to the south. Originally referred to as Brooklyn Village, it has been a prominent area of Brooklyn since 1834. The neighborhood is noted for its low-rise architecture and its many brownstone rowhouses, most of them built prior to the Civil War. It also has an abundance of notable churches and other religious institutions. Brooklyn's first art gallery, the Brooklyn Arts Gallery, was opened in Brooklyn Heights in 1958. In 1965, a large part of Brooklyn Heights was protected from unchecked development by the creation of the Brooklyn Heights Historic District, the first such district in New York City. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1966. Directly across the East River from Manhattan and connected to it by subways and regular ferry service, Brooklyn Heights is also easily accessible from Downtown Brooklyn. Columbia Heights, an upscale six-block-long street next to the Brooklyn Heights Promenade, is sometimes considered to be its own neighborhood. [Wikipedia] George L. So @somegreek and I venture out every couple days, and walk around our beautiful neighborhood's empty streets. Though there was one person near the Brooklyn Heights Promenade other than us. . . . #husbands #brooklyn #brooklynpromenade #ilovebrooklyn #views #roots #rootscanada #walk #stroll #Manhattan #downtownmanhattan #nyc #newyorkcity #urbancool #citylife #thecity #fun #artistsoninstagram #artininstagram #instaart #seekmoments #socialdistancing #KurtWalters #gayartist #moustache #brooklynheights #whatdayisit #spring #blond #beard (at Brooklyn Heights) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_AhXpjA0aJ/?igshid=1gv1yt8xtcbhz

I was a much younger person the last time I walked across the Brooklyn Bridge. #RepostPlus go to @wpanyc to see the rest of the photos! - - - - - - Hello, I am @moyamcallister taking over the @wpanyc instagram this week. These images are part of a personal series tentatively titled “My Own Brooklyn”. There are 5 images and I will post 5 more later today. Brooklyn has been my home most of my life since I was born. Growing up, I spent time on Long Island but I always felt out of place. Moving back to Brooklyn felt very right. I have lived in different parts of Brooklyn for over 30 years but I especially love where I live now, in Northwest Brooklyn near the Brooklyn Bridge. Wherever in Brooklyn I go, I take my camera and make pictures. There are 5 photos: 1. One of the Brooklyn Bridge arches. 2. A community-created beach in Williamsburg in an empty lot along the water line, before it became a public park. 3. A view of the Brooklyn Heights Promenade from a boat in the East River near sunset. 4. Braised rabbit on polenta at Al Di La, in Park Slope, one of the best No. Italian restaurants in Brooklyn. 5. St. Ann’s and The Holy Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Brooklyn Heights with a subway entrance next door. ................................................................. About me: I am an editorial & commercial photographer based in Brooklyn, and you can see a small sample of my professional work at @gingersnapsmagazine and my stock website here: http://moyamcallister.photoshelter.com Look for the re-launch of my new website in November, please follow me! . . . 📷:©️Moya McAllister #brooklyn #brooklynbridge #catherdral #aldila #Williamsburg #bridge #rabbit #polenta #MyOwnBrooklyn #personalwork #photojournalism #documentaryphotographer #smallbusiness #brooklynphotographer #urbanbeach #promenade #brooklynpromenade #eastriver #architecture #infrastructure #brooklynrestaurant #community #myhomeisinbrooklyn (at Brooklyn, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bpp2FnygMEf/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1hbrow10i0vj1
