My collection of random badges, pins, and brooches!!!!/
Most of these passed down to me from my parents, and some are my own buys/gifts from friends (i think the difference is visible lol)/Большая часть из них досталась мне от родителей, а некоторые из них я купила сама либо мне подарили друзья (разницу между ними видно лол)
My mom used to work at a space company and that's why there are a lot of pins with rockets, satellites and space stations/ Моя мама раньше работала в роскосмосе и поэтому здесь много значков с ракетами, спутниками и космическими станциями
My dad was a passionate badge/pin collector (as his own dad was!!!) and i have a LOT of soviet union badges!!!! I didn't picture them all though, there's twice as the whole lot pictured, i will probably do it in another post lol. He had lots of pins with names of different cities he visited, he was a traveller, but i only pictured the badges of cities i myself have been to (it isn't much;-;)/Мой папа был ярым коллекционером значков (как и его собственный папа), у меня есть ОЧЕНЬ много значков советского времени!!!!
And of course my own modern pins!!!! The ones with space and cactuses and cats—These are usually from teen fashion shops ha. Also some of the pretty formal brooches are from my mom/grandmas. The brooch with raspberry is a birthday gift from an incredibly cool woman who makes handmade life-like jewellery with fruits and plants and flowers from polymer clay. The Joe Tazuna pin is a gift from my girlfriend:) the piano octave pin is a souvenir from my music school/И конечно же мои собственные современные значки!!!!
You can ask questions about specific badges and everything and I'll answer!!!/
Thanks for your attention!!!/

The Devonshire Parure
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Devonshire Parure consists of a coronet, diadem, bandeau, comb, necklace, stomacher, and bracelet. It was commissioned by the 6th Duke of Devonshire for Countess Granville, the wife of his nephew, to wear while accompanying him to Moscow for the coronation of Tsar Alexander II in 1856.
Made and designed by C.F. Hancock with input from Sir Joseph Paxton, the parure incorporates 88 cameos and intaglios from the 2nd Duke of Devonshire’s extensive carved gem collection depicting different Tudor monarchs. It includes carnelian, amethyst, garnets, emeralds, sapphires, onyx, jacinth, lapis lazuli, plasma, sardonyx and diamonds all set in gold and enamel.
The parure has been featured in Sotheby's Treasures from Chatsworth exhibit and docuseries. When not on tour, the parure is displayed at Chatsworth House, the home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire.

Princess Alice, Grand Duchess of Hesse (1843-1878)
Artist: Joseph Hartmann (German, 1812-1885)
Date: 1879
Medium: OIl on canvas
Collection: Royal Trust Collection, United Kingdom
Description
Princess Alice (1843-78) was the third child and second daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Known for her sweet nature, she often took on the role of peacekeeper in the royal household. The marriage of her older sister, Princess Victoria, in 1858 left Alice as the eldest daughter at home, and the Queen and Prince Albert both turned to her for company. In a popular edition of Alice's letters to the Queen, published in 1885, Princess Helena, her sister, described her as ‘loving Daughter and Sister, the devoted Wife and Mother, and a perfect, true Woman’. In 1862 she married Louis IV, Grand Duke of Hesse.
In this portrait the Princess appears in evening dress with the badges of the Orders of Victoria and Albert, the Crown of India, and Louise of Prussia.

A silver shawl brooch, the hoop chased with Celtic strapwork and set with cabochon garnets, with a long, extended, hinged pin. Struck with hallmarks for Dublin, 1849/50
This brooch, based on an ancient prototype, is an example of a general revival of interest in Celtic history, and was chosen with the deliberate intent of showing royal patronage of the Irish jewellery trade. It was created by West & Son, one of the largest jewellers in Dublin. The brooch was acquired during the royal visit to Dublin in August 1849.
It was purchased by Prince Albert and presented to Queen Victoria at Christmas 1849.

Note
Just want to say that you’re genuinely one of my favourite artists. Would decorate my home framed images of your work and walk around looking at them like I was in a posh gallery with a fine wine.

Maria II, Da Glória, Queen of Portugal (1819-1853)
Artist: William Corden the Younger (English, 1819-1900)
Date: c.1850-1900
Medium: Oil on Panel
Collection: Royal Collection Trust, London, United Kingdom
Description
The Queen of Portugal is depicted wearing the ribbon of the Orders of Christ, St Benedict of Avis and St James of the Sword. She was the daughter of Pedro IV, King Portugal, who had abdicated in 1826. She had visited London in 1829 and 1833 and on the earlier visit had been painted by Sir Thomas Lawrence for George IV. She married in 1836, as her second husband, Prince Ferdinand of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, who was made King Consort in 1837 and whose portrait is also in the Royal Collection.
Corden had been sent to Lisbon in 1850 and painted a pair of full length portraits of the King and Queen but these do not appear to have survived. This head and shoulders portrait may have been cut out of the original full length painting, or may be a copy of the head from the original.
