Smok Wawelski (The Wawel Dragon) by Bronisław Chromy, 1969:
propaganda: This is a famous and beloved statue outside of Wawel Castle (pronounced Vavel) in Kraków. The story of Smok Wawelski goes that he'd been eating all the animals (and people?) in Kraków so the king ordered his sons to kill him, but obviously the dragon is very dangerous. The princes tricked him by filling animals with tar and leaving them out. He ate them and when he tried to breathe fire, his insides burned up. There is a second version that says a cobbler tricked him into eating a tar-filled sheep and the tar made him so thirsty he drank the Wisła (the Vistula, the river that runs through Kraków) until he burst.
Fun fact, those are not extra arms but rather extra heads. Also, you can text the dragon to ask him to breathe fire, and then he does. He gets thousands of texts a day.
about the artist: When I was a kid, I was sure this statue was the actual Smok Wawelski that had somehow carbonized over a thousand years, but alas no, a guy made it in 1969 out of bronze. Bronisław Chromy was an artist, a professor, and Dragon Mother. He passed away in 2017.

Prince Józef’s last summer and September
Now let's go back to Prince Joseph's last year. Having met Napoleon in Dresden, he then returned to Zittau where he was to spend the next two months, continuing to train his soldiers.
Bronisław Gembarzewski, Before the Battle, 1813.
When in August the truce ended, the mission of the Polish Corps became to protect that part of the Saxony border from the Austrian invasion.
On August 17, at the beginning of the operations, Poniatowski was in Ostritz, from where he made it to Eckhartsberg on the same day; on the 20th he had quarters at Gabel, remaining there until the end of the month. On September 1, the Polish Commander-in-Chief returned to the Zittau area, to Eiöhgrube, the next day he was in Romburg, on the 3rd and 4th in Schluckenau, on the 6th in Lobau on the way from Zittau to the capital of Saxony.
The Austrians, however, chose a different route, so the Poles had their first clash only on September 9, with the rearguard of the Russian corps near Löbau. On September 11, Poniatowski camped in Neustadt, between the 12th and 20th he stayed in Stolpen, then four days in Rennersdorf, on the 25th and 26th he was in Dresden. Then the task of Polish Corps became to cover communications between Dresden and Leipzig while the Grand Armee was retreating from the Saxon capital, so on the 27th of September Poniatowski was already in Nossen, and on the 28th and the following days in Waldheim.

Bronisław Zelek by Marian Misiak
Bronislaw Zelek (1935–2018) was a Polish poster designer, typeface designer, and painter. At the very beginning of his career, he worked as a poster designer. He is known, among other things, for the poster for Hitchcock’s film—Birds from 1965. In his poster design, however, already here the playful use of type plays an important role. He once said about himself: “The letter has been haunting me all my life, accidentally, actually I don’t know why”
—
Bronislaw Zelek—The Story of a Polish Designer. In the Enchanted Land of Letters
O początkach swojej przygody z liternictwem napisał: Byłem kiedyś przeziębiony. Przyszła mnie odwiedzić moja dziewczyna i wypełniła kilka kształtów, które wcześniej narysowałem. Wysłałem to na konkurs do Paryża i zdobyłem pierwszą nagrodę
