Bio: Nothing about Brodie’s life really screamed “struggle.” Her father came from old money and was a well-known successful businessman in the Detroit area in his own right. Her mother was an Israeli American model turned career socialite. She made a name for herself being the face Weston & Son marketing and public relations firm. Shira was the perfect wife, and she expected the same level of perfection from her children, Donnie and Brodie. From academics to athletics, Isla expected the best from her children while Donovan was the workaholic ever-missing presence in his children’s lives. For the most part, Brodie was accustomed to it and did what she could to please her parents. She hid under the guise of not caring, but the pressure was building an egotistical neurotic and anxious mess who knew better than to talk about her feelings.  

When the time came for high school, a 13-year-old Brodie begged her parents to be put her into a local Detroit boarding school with her 17-year-old cousin, Brandy. Her parents didn’t argue as it meant they would get more time to themselves and for their own projects. Brodie fully flourished without her parents. Under Brandy’s wing, Brodie came out as bisexual, ran her way through the cheerleading and football teams (respectively), and completely came out of her shell (a.k.a. her mother’s shadow).

Being without her mother’s constant criticism and her father’s negligence, Brodie was able to freely seek attention from anyone she saw fit. In a world of vanity where she was more of a trophy to her parents than anything else, a young Brodie had two escapes in this world: music and Dash. Her brother was 8 years older than Brodie, so they never seemed to really get along well or see eye-to-eye. For the majority of her adolescence, she felt alone. Rita, her childhood nanny, was the only real escape and refuge Brodie had in the Weston household. Rita handled the majority of Brodie’s upbringing, and she made sure that the girl knew one thing: music was everything. Rita loved music and made sure every minute was filled with it. From Etta James to Janis Joplin, Rita played everything for Brodie and encouraged her to use music as a way to express herself. Rita even managed to convince Brodie’s parents to allow her to attend music and dance lessons in addition to her forced modeling gigs, athletics, and other extracurricular activities. With a growing love for music, pursuing a career as a singer only seemed right.

Brodie’s second escape was Dash. Dashiel “Dash” Sloane-Delaney was the daughter of a partner at Weston & Sons. During their sixth grade year, Dash and Brodie met at a company picnic and were inseparable from that moment on. Dash taught Brodie how to dress. Brodie tried to teach Dash to sing, but even some missions are too impossible for a Weston. Dash encouraged Brodie to apply to the Berklee College of Music alongside the Ivy League schools her parents had picked out. When an aspiring actress Dash and aspiring musician Brodie got their acceptance letters together, there were no questions about being Boston-bound. During their junior year at Berklee, Brodie and Dash were somewhere in the realm of falling into a relationship. They clearly had chemistry and, even though Brodie hated the idea of commitment, she found herself thinking about Dash and the possibilities every now and again. That is until Brodie met a freshman by the name of Rachel Berry.

Brodie was pretty much infatuated with Rachel from the very beginning. With an undeniable Weston charm, it wasn’t long before they entered into an on-and-off friend with benefits style arrangement. The whole interaction solidified something for Dash and Brodie. Brodie wasn’t going to be someone who settled down. She was always going to be the thrill-seeker, trying to find the next most exciting challenge. Brodie was terrified of commitment, and that would never change. At least, this was the case at the time.

At the age of 26 and after only 8 months of dating, Brodie married Ainsley Walton. It was a blissful 9 months before Brodie realized she was being cheated on. Finally earning herself a few notable roles and being cast as Zatanna in the newest DC Universe Streaming Service original, Shadowcrest: Tales of the Zatara, the cheating scandal was uncomfortably public and brought an embarrassment to the level of hurt Brodie was experiencing at the time that she could not have fathomed before. The public attention on her pending divorce has gotten somewhat better, but the whole thing has left Brodie dismissive of relationships and avoidant of anything even somewhat commitment related. As far as she is concerned, this is the perfect time to dive into and disappear into her work.

Pets: Brodie likes her pets like she likes her children: made/managed by her friends and up for being babysat.

Relationships

Rachel Berry: If you ask Brodie, she would say she set eyes on Rachel and pretty much went for it. Rachel might say something different. Regardless, Rachel’s fierce nature and unbelievable talent still has Brodie smitten to this day. With her pending divorce, she has been shameless in blatantly flirting with her ex-FWB/friend. Before coming to New York, Brodie had kept in touch with Rachel, so they never really lost touch.

Reagan Lane: Brodie and Reagan had simple beginnings. She needed a roommate and so did Brodie. She only recently moved in, but they seem to be getting along fairly well.

April’s Showers team: Brodie is one of the newest midfielders for the April’s Showers. She was an athlete throughout her school career and stays in shape now for filming, so adjusting to the team hasn’t been difficult on the field. However, she hasn’t opened up much to her teammates.

Dash Delaney: Brodie and Dash were childhood best friends with sexual tension that grows the older they get. Dash accepts Brodie and all of her philandering ways, but Brodie is fairly certain that Dash believes she can commit if she sets her heart on it. Brodie just isn’t sure she’s ready for that, especially now that they will be working together on their new show.

Pampering Politics || Sugsam Para

Who: Sam Evans and Sugar Motta with mentions of Brody Weston and Quinn Fabray, and brief thoughts of the New Agers.

General Notes: Sugar and Sam have a spa night, which then turns into Sam weaving his way through his first political discussion and actually...surviving? Wow, Sam, Wow. Brownstone fire is mentioned but nothing triggering described.

Sam hadn't actually been to the spa at JIH in a long time. Between all the things that had happened and trying to deal with school as well, it was honestly the last thing he wanted to do. Pampering himself seemed like the wrong thing to do, but he knew he had to take care of himself, especially now if he was making that effort to get things done in terms of making amends to the LN community. And he had said he would do something with Sugar to make up for not doing something sooner. So after making sure Ari was settled inside his dorm, Sam put on some leggings and a light shirt, not minding the cool weather as he left and walked in the dark, cold night. Remembering Quinn's campaign for safety, he muttered, <<Sparkling bubbles>> so some shimmering bubbles floated around him so he could see a little bit. When he got to the spa, he saw the employee and waved in greeting as he waited for Sugar.

Sugar watched from a distance how Sam entered the building and followed suit. Perhaps the precautions had been a little extreme, but in politics, information is power and she didn’t want to give any about this meeting away for free. She took off the enormous black hat and sunglasses she had hoped would disguise her identity in the streets, then greeted the employee and walked towards Sam. “Sammy!” She greeted as she jumped to hug him “So good to finally see you! I got the best routine scheduled for us, so let’s get going!”

Sam was startled when the hug came but he hugged her back before pulling away. It was literally the first time really seeing her and interacting with her, but he didn't want to be rude about pulling back. "Hey Sugar, nice to see you too, finally." He looked around before glancing back at her. "So what are we doing?" He figured he would follow her lead.

Sugar smiled. “What are we doing? We are doing everything!” She grabbed Sam’s arm and led him into the main room, actually not knowing what to expect either because she had simply booked ‘the most expensive one you have, please’. Before they knew it, they were wrapped in soft silk robes and lying on the most comfortable spa beds, with the latest fashion magazine on their hands and the fanciest shea butter & coconut oil mask on their faces. “This... feels… so… good…” Sugar grinned as she let her body relax completely on the bed, enjoying the increasingly warm temperature of the room.

Sam knew a former classmate who had worked here so he had an idea of what to expect. But when she said the most expensive room, he was stunned. Students could afford- wait, of course, there were Bloodlines here and they were two of them.  The silk robe felt nice against his body and he actually allowed himself to relax as the mask was put on his face.  "It actually does." It had been a while since he allowed himself to fully relax, but he tried to remain alert since he still didn't know what she wanted to discuss.

Sugar took a deep sigh. She wished they had come here just to relax… but in this political climate, hardly any action does not have a second motive. “Did you see what Brody posted the other day? About New Ages and Bloodlines. I have it right here.” She took her pink phone from the small table that stood between both beds and read out loud, unable to hide how ridiculous it sounded to her: “I’m tired of being called less just because my magic wasn’t given to me by some old geezer six hundred years ago. We should all have an equal shot at the top… the sooner everyone understands that, the better.” She put the phone down “Can you believe it?”

Sam wondered if this was how Quinn felt in situations where she had to tread carefully. The political game was not something he was used to and playing it was not in his stratosphere, especially after what happened with the Lamia. Taking a deep breath, he recalled the words Brody had said since he did read it when he was going back through the dash and saw how different everyone was acting.  "Well, to be fair to Brody, when he wrote that., I believe he was under the same sort of curse I was. My personality was switched with someone else, who I don't know. And while I said things that were honest, they were not said in the manner I would have preferred." He said, choosing his words carefully. "This is how I saw my experience. I can't speak for Brody if he really feels this way." He looked over at her. "Do I think he could have said it better? Yes. But I don't think he would have spoken in that way if he had free will. I've seen how he normally speaks and he wouldn't have said that if he had his own mind, at least I don't believe so." He tilted his head. "How do you feel about what he said?"

Sugar shook her head. “This isn’t just about Brody. I know a lot of New Ages feel that way… and I don’t really trust them with all that power, Sam. I mean, look at what happened with Fuchs-” Sugar became annoyed Sam didn’t seem to understand the importance of the threat, and her pitch reflected it while she parroted the drunk words her father had carelessly spit over the phone one night “Bloodlines and L.Naturae… the magical world is our world. We care for it, we try to make it better. But people like Fuchs? They only care about getting power for themselves so they can do what they want!” She forced herself to calm down. “If… you want to help the LN community, Sam, you will hear me out on this.”

Sam was honestly surprised to hear her speaking so freely like this. He couldn't recall seeing this from her in watching her interact with others.  Was this her talking or the power of her family? Aether, what had he signed up for?  "The thing is...it's a slippery slope to assume every New Age feels this way. My ex was a New Age and he helped to co-found the LNWA to bring everyone together, Bloodlines, NA, and LN. Unfortunately no one saw someone like Fuchs coming. He is an extreme, horrible case of what power can do. It's dangerous to assume that because of one bad apple, the rest of the apples in the tree are rotten." He thought of Rachel, Puck, his old classmate, Ryder, even Tina. Good or bad, none of them would ever dream to kidnap people and use their power like that in such a way.  "I want to help LN, I do. But I don't believe it should be done in this way." He looked down at the magazine, thinking carefully.  "If you try to bring down one group in order to help another or further the cause of your own group, then really, are we no better than Fuchs?"

Sugar was speechless, and deeply disappointed. “Oh, Sammy… don’t let them trick you. Power is the one thing every New Age wants. Each one of them has given up the thing they loved the most for it. What would they not sacrifice for more?” She sighed. Of course there were new ages that were good people… so many of her new friends at school were great examples. But she knew politics and friendship were two very different things. “It just breaks my heart to see there are so few L. Naturae in the Committee that is meant to protect and represent them. To see people like Fuchs filling those seats, when-” She held her tongue. Sam had made his position clear after all, and revealing more of her intentions could bring her nothing good “You know what? You’re right. And we’ve got many long years before we have to actually worry about these grown-up things. I- I don’t even know what I saying.” She forced a laugh “Oh! Do you want some iced tea? I heard the iced tea at this place is amazing .”

Sam nodded his head as she spoke and did notice the way she immediately held her tongue. He decided to just make one more statement when she mentioned more LN who should be in the Committee.  "There are still ways we can help vote them in. It's important to support those who are running, especially now after Brownstone and the 2019 election coming up. Knowing who is running and understanding what they are for will ensure we do our best to put those in power who deserve it. And we may find that whoever ends up there will be there because they've seen what we can do to make things better for everyone." He still wasn't comfortable about how this all had come up. He needed to talk to Brody. He may not have been the type to boldly discuss his personal conversations, but this was not something he could keep to himself. She didn't need to know that. "Iced tea sounds great."

Sugar nods in agreement, pretending she totally understood all the words in that sentence. “Iced tea it is!” She snapped her fingers at the employee with a big smile in her face, looking forward to the rest of the self care programme. Before the employee left, she spoke again, “Oh, and get yourself one if you want too. Tonight, it’s all on the Mottas!”

BRODY WESTON’S BIG BASH 2017

It has come to our attention that one of our housemates is actually wanting to do something exciting for a change, and that is throwing a party. It is mandatory to attend and we encourage you all to let loose and have a little fun for a change! It will be held in the main living room at 7 PM EST, but if at some point you and another wish to move it to another room, feel free to do so.

ADMIN NOTES & RULES:

National Salami Day || Brobastian: TTL AU

Setting: Brobastian’s house, Lima, Ohio

Summary:   Brody admits—he’s not really sure what to expect coming home tonight.  It’s National Salami Day, which just happens to coincide with the anniversary of when he and Sebastian first started their…thing.  The last two years, they’ve gone out and danced and drank and come home and had a lot of good sex.  It’s what they do for all of the random, conveniently placed holidays they’ve always celebrated (Thanksgiving, Bastille Day, Elephant Appreciation Day, among others), and it’s worked pretty well for them, so far.   But this week Bas suddenly had this crazy impulse to know Brody’s schedule—to want to do dinner, which Brody had gone along with, showing only mild bemusement

Brody admits—he’s not really sure what to expect coming home tonight.  It’s National Salami Day, which just happens to coincide with the anniversary of when he and Sebastian first started their…thing.  The last two years, they’ve gone out and danced and drank and come home and had a lot of good sex.  It’s what they do for all of the random, conveniently-placed holidays they’ve always celebrated (Thanksgiving, Bastille Day, Elephant Appreciation Day, among others), and it’s worked pretty well for them, so far.  

But this week Bas suddenly has this crazy impulse to know Brody’s schedule—to want to do dinner, which Brody had gone along with, showing only mild bemusement.  The guy’s just been such a moron—more so than usually, he means. The older teacher is actually a little confounded by it, even if it is kind of adorable how “secretive” he’s being, all but demanding Brody announce himself whenever he decides to leave or enter a room.  

That said, Brody goes ahead and grabs a bottle of wine—a crappy one (French imported), since obviously Bas is planning something, and he doesn’t want to look like an inconsiderate ass—and heads home after practice.  He’s wondering if maybe he’s putting too much thought into this—maybe Bas is just planning some really elaborate sex thing, and doesn’t figure they’ll have time to go out.  Or maybe he just wants something simple, like pizza.

He turns onto Juneau Drive, still in thought, and the first thing he notices is the smoke.  It’s not black and deadly, but it’s fuzzy and pouring from the house.  His house.  He speeds up, heart suddenly pounding, and slams the car into park as he hits the curb, jumping out to hear the smoke alarm screaming into the night, and he’s pretty sure he forgot how to breathe.

The teacher throws open the front door, and the smell is just awful.  If he wasn’t so amped up on fear and adrenaline, he’d probably gag a little because what the hell is that?  

Finally, after longest moment in history’s consideration, three things happen simultaneously that cause Brody to relax enough to breathe again: he can see that the smoke has not engulfed the whole house, and that it’s not going to burn to the ground; he realizes that the smell is grease, which his mind quickly deduces as the cause of the fire; and—most importantly—Brody can hear the sound of fluid angry cursing just beneath the angry pitch of the smoke alarm.

The blue-eyed man quickly moves through the house and into the kitchen, and sure enough, Bas is furiously trying to battle the persistent flames in the pan, with something burning away with a little less gusto in the sink and on the wet counter.  He doesn’t really think too hard on it—Brody knows his priorities, and the first thing he does is take the adorably frustrated peacock in his arms, throw him over his shoulder, and carry him in long strides back the way he came in.  He unceremoniously dumps the man on the ground, a quick glance-over revealing that besides looking dirty and smudged (and maybe a tiny bit tearful), Bas isn’t really injured.  And so Brody leaves him on the grass, turning to jog quickly back inside, where he grabs up the baking soda from the cupboard and proceeds to douse the flames.  His counter is burned.  And the sink. And the pan is pretty scorched. But he was never that picky about the kitchen anyways—they first two will still function at least, and he can buy a new pan with little hassle.  Brody quickly climbs up on a chair to disarm the smoke alarm, turning on every fan in the house and leaving the windows open before he finally is able to get back outside to Sebastian.

His lanky form hasn’t left the grass.  His arms are petulantly pulled across his chest, face scrunching into a pout as he glances up to watch Brody reappear; the tiniest glimpse of relief flickering in his perfect green eyes before resuming its sulk.  Brody has to bite down hard on his lip in order to keep from smiling, because now that the guy is safe, it really is adorable.  

“Are you okay?”  He squats down in front of him, leaning on his knees as his thumb traces along the other’s face, more careful in its inspection this go-round.

“I had it handled,” is the short, grouchy reply.   And Brody loses the battle with himself as a burst of air escapes his carefully trapped throat in what is obvious amusement.

“You mean, you meant to set the kitchen on fire?” he asks, eyebrow cocking slightly in gentle skepticism, and the love of his life scoffs in response.

“Yes, Brody—the directions specifically stated to add a dash of salt and burn the house down,” he bites back acerbically, causing Brody to laugh-cough a second time.

The older man shakes his head, angling it slightly as he tries to catch the surly green gaze.  “What were you even doing?”  Sebastian is a worse cook than Brody—while Brody is merely impatient when it comes to learning new things, Sebastian really has no experience in the kitchen, and up until recently lived off fine dining prepared by a staff and then takeout.

The grumble is obviously a sign of Bas’ awareness of this fact, albeit with its normal level of stubborn resistance against specifically acknowledging it.  “Lapin Braisé.”

Brody knows the words are French (bad sign), and he racks his brain trying to recall what the hell the dish is… “You were making rabbit?” he finally realizes.

“Lapin.  It’s sophisticated—something you would have no experience with, Brodes.  I thought I could inject a little culture into your lackluster world, but your damn stove is defective or something, and when was the last time you bought a decent pan anyways?…”

The older man doesn’t even try to hide the smile that blooms on his face by now.  He just shakes his head with a soft “I love you” (which still feels really damn good to say), and wraps his arms around his moron’s tightly curled, angry body.  The older man’s lips kiss him gently until the other’s muscles relax; until a lanky pair of arms finally snake around Brody’s solid frame, fingers twining through his hair and tugging, as Bas’ own lips hungrily began to reciprocate; and the older man pulls him closer, rocking his hips against the other now straddling his lap.

Eventually, Brody forces himself to pull away, because—yeah, a little too public out here on his lawn.  He quirks a mischievous eyebrow up at the other and smirks.  “Why don’t I lock up, and we’ll grab the bed and get the hell out of here? Grab something to eat--get a room over in Findlay?”  It’s pathetic that the nicest hotel in a twenty mile radius is still only 3 stars, but for nights when they just want to escape for a minute?  It really isn’t so bad; and the memory foam mattress topper that Brody had invested in a year ago keeps Sebastian from tossing and turning while actually trying to sleep (which they do get around to doing, eventually), so the lack of quality goes by for the majority of time unnoticed.  Bas whines slightly from his place on top of him, but Brody knows the guy will be happier having sex somewhere away from the literal smell of his (or “Brody’s kitchen’s”, as it’s sure to remain) failure.  And sure enough, after the next moment, there is a begrudging sigh of agreement and the long legs disentangle themselves from his waist.

As they pile into the truck, still parked haphazardly on the sidewalk, Brody’s blue gaze shifts over to Bas, who finally looks over and eyes the other semi-defensively. “What?”

Brody smiles again, broad and beaming and just so damned happy.  “You really are kind of amazing, you know that?” He knows the words might seem a little disjointed—after all, Bas has basically ruined their International Salami Day dinner and part of the kitchen, and scared Brody (and likely himself) half to death in the process.  But really, when Brody thinks back on the whole week up to now (especially now), it just reminds him of how lucky he is to be the one that Sebastian Smythe decided to care about—to love.  Because the guy really never does anything halfway, and Brody doesn’t think he’ll ever really get over someone thinking he is really worth all of that.

So when Sebastian blinks, before shrugging his shoulders with a quirky “Of course—where have you been?”, Brody just leans over to kiss him again, before shifting the truck into gear and driving off into the night.
