Our current understanding is about 5,233 trees will be destroyed over 12.3 acres.
According to Official City website:
“In addition to low lying wetlands grasses and plantings, over 600 trees will be planted including 336 live oaks and 192 water oaks.”
“60,000 cubic yards of ‘waste’” is about 6,000 dump trucks.
Less than 6 working days until City Council may vote on this $12M project whose details are still not available to the public.
🚨 PETITION: PLEASE PURCHASE THE NEWLY AVAILABLE TIDAL WETLANDS CREDITS & REFINE PHPWMB PLANS.
Official page at city website is here: https://pw.virginiabeach.gov/coastal-waterways/pleasure-house-point-wetlands-restoration-project
Please note 1 timeline: Design:
November 2024-February 2025
Current goal is a City Council vote January 7 ‘25 before design is complete.

Perfect day to celebrate first day of Spring!
Heading out before sunrise & at high tide to broadcast bushels of oyster shell onto a new reef we’ve been building in view of Brock Environmental Center.
Join us on a Tour sometime & check it out in person.
