While we were 'blessed' to have had the presence of both Father and Mother continuously in our home, it was not easy on them raising two 'artistic' sons in the 60's and 70's and so we clung to one another for support and understanding. James, Jr., aka BrotherBoy, was a child prodigy and his prowess on piano was known statewide. But as gifted as he was, it wasn't in the area my Father celebrated, and his disappointment of not having either of his 6ft tall sons become athletes was all too often the source of many an argument especially when we expressed interest in things that in that time, caused us to appear as 'sissies', in his eyes. So my Brother covered me, took the brunt of the anger and disdain, while teaching me a level of grace and sophistication that serves me well in my daily life, still. It was YOU, BroBoy, that truly showed me what a Man could be. The world of options that I know I would not have been exposed to, but for your courage. I honor you today ... and forever. Another 40k Post

You know, I'm a little tired of how fixed the 40k setting is. It's constantly talking about how vast, and wild the setting is, and how known human space is only a fraction of the galaxy and all that, but it just neeeever pays off. Oh yeah, you hear about Enslavers, then Rak'Fellas, Hrud, and other lesser known species throughout the galaxy. Sure, you'll also occasionally get a story featuring some weird unique thing... but never enough. I'm not just talking aliens, either. There seems to be this concept of what fits in 40k, and I sense a little fear from folks to step out of that very slim bubble of 40kness. Like folks telling me non-Chaos non-science affiliated Necromancers don't fit because Nurgle and Necrons exist. Well, it's a big galaxy, partner.

I do get it, though. It's a setting with miniatures and board games to sell, so you can't deviate all that much. They want codex approved novels, and that makes sense! You want your product recognizable. You pick up a 40k novel, and the antagonist is going to be something of the main factions, while the protagonist will be someone from another main faction. I get it. But... it's a waste of potential, I think. A big one.

You know, Fantasy Flight Games handled 40k better than GW. Their books were 1. Covered in stuff that was recognizably 40k, yet still totally new and different. 2. The books had a LOT of ladies in 'em, and not just beefhead broboys screaming at green goblins and smelly bugs, which was nice. 3. Also, did I mention the recognizably-40k-but-still-new stuff? Cus, that applies to entire planets and cultures fleshed out in the roleplay lines by FFG. Now, GW probably had a hand in all of this too, I won't say they didn't- given they were the ones who did start Dark Heresy, but... they haven't done it since, and with anything outside of FFG's products.

I don't like to assume, but I really feel like even the new 40k roleplay coming out won't capture that much DIFFERENCE in warhammer. We'll see. I could be wrong.

My point to all this rambling is, damn 40k is a big setting. Lots of stuff can happen in it, so if you see something that's outside of tabletop codex-only lore, hey, could very well still happen in setting. Let's get Rogue Trader weird with our setting, and let GW and BL sit around telling the exact same Imperial Guard Vs. Ork story over and over again. Or, well if you're not into change and just love the base surface level 40k, don't listen to me. Do what you wanna do, I don't give a good god damn what you do, just don't tell someone something doesn't fit in a sci-fi setting where green men put hair with teeth on their heads, or where Space Marines are Boys Only because GW is too damn lazy to change smelly outdated lore for their most updated army. That last bit had nothing to do with what I was saying, but really it's good to say.

i love the sentiment behind the word f*ckboy and i totally think we need a word that encapsulates that level of doneness with cismen but at the same time, i think we should stop using f*ckboy because it’s a derogatory term for a male rape victims in prison SO let’s come up with something else like

So two years after the fact I finally caved and watched Voltron. So now as someone who has seen exactly one (1) episode of Voltron, I present my findings:

Lance is literally all of my least favorite tropes rolled into one and tbh the memes on my dash I don't understand don't inspire much hope babyboy will become less annoying

That being said the LanceHulk dynamic? Is very good. Give me that good good Lunk content, these supportive broboys goofing together. Love me some friend!ships.

Shiro is such a genuinely good boy, so kind and warm. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop but he just seems like a very sincere young man, god bless.

I should probably find Keith more annoying than I do but he had so many great little moments I was charmed despite myself

Pidge is intriguing. I don't totally understand the point of this disguise plot yet, but I appreciated the clever little hints?

The improbable timespan and technology issues required some temple massaging and "It just doesn't matter" mantra chanting XD

I'm interested to see how Allura and Coran develop- I hope Coran in particular gets some depth, since I'm sure Allura is going to get a lil arc.

All in all, it was pretty good!
