. #TheMINDsetOf BROTHER/FATHERS ... This was my only Brother, seven years older. A Musician and Educator who passed away too soon, at the age of 42. While we were 'blessed' to have had the presence of both Father and Mother continuously in our home, it was not easy on them raising two 'artistic' sons in the 60's and 70's and so we clung to one another for support and understanding. James, Jr., aka BrotherBoy, was a child prodigy and his prowess on piano was known statewide. But as gifted as he was, it wasn't in the area my Father celebrated, and his disappointment of not having either of his 6ft tall sons become athletes was all too often the source of many an argument especially when we expressed interest in things that in that time, caused us to appear as 'sissies', in his eyes. So my Brother covered me, took the brunt of the anger and disdain, while teaching me a level of grace and sophistication that serves me well in my daily life, still. It was YOU, BroBoy, that truly showed me what a Man could be. The world of options that I know I would not have been exposed to, but for your courage. I honor you today ... and forever. Because you were ...
