Bro 😭 Belos canonically a colonist - They came to Connecticut in the 1600s (1613), Connecticut was an English Colony. America did not exist as a country nor was Connecticut a state, pleaseee enjoy some basic real history facts as it will make your time analyzing Belos & Caleb more enjoyable 😭

Caleb & Philip are both colonists that’s a very canon and vital aspect of both their characters to understand how, what, and why they’d turn out the way they do later in the future

They lived in a colony which makes them colonists. Can we stop denying that y’all 😭 😭 😭 when people deny that very canon fact it takes away so much historical context for Philip and Caleb to analyze and write.

Colonization: A process of establishing control over targeted territories or peoples for the purpose of taxation, control, cultivation, often by establishing colonies and possibly by settling them.

Now, interpret Emperor Belos’ actions as you will, but I very much enjoy the villainy that comes with colonization in his character. He is meant to be a villain y’all (unless you’ve written a redemption arc) it’s okay to portray him as this. I love Belos so much from a writing standpoint, adding personal and historical depth to him is one of my favorite things. Especially in his early life, I haven’t gotten to modern Belos yet but I will eventually <3 he’s an incredibly well-written villain.

Now instead of the term colonizing we can also use the term proselytize. “What’s that?”

Proselytize: convert or attempt to convert (someone) from one religion, belief, or opinion to another.

“But Belos didn’t convert people to be Christia-” this is the part where I interrupt you and say you’re taking things waaay too literally. The Coven System and the belief of the Titan’s Will is not only what this dictatorship runs on but also what majority of people on the Isles believe in. Belos proselytized the Boiling Isles in order to convert people to this belief and gain control.

Personally I use the terms colonizer and proselytizer together in the context of Belos. He proselytized the Isles to have one majority belief and would use those beliefs in order to gain control towards a targeted group of people. All while benefiting off of the wealth and status (that Castle had be to funded somehow 💀)

Anyways I love talking about Belos’ writing and adding depth!! :3 it’s very fun and enjoyable to write villains and uncovering what led them down their path. Also ik I’ve been writing a lot abt the Wittebanes on this blog I PROMISEEE I’ll serve some Perrius 😭
