My Top Ten Favorite Moments from Ghost Files in Dallas Texas starting at the funniest:

1. Shane and Ryan getting into a brief argument over the Sally House flashlights and Ryan saying, “We are NOT going to rehash a six year fight!” and then making a comment along the lines of, “We’re like a married couple!”

2. After someone clarified that Shane stole Goatman’s Bridge first, Ryan agreed and said that it indeed was *technically* Shane’s bridge and that Shane deserves all of the credit. In response to that, Shane said that after he claimed the bridge from Goatman, he added Ryan’s name to the deed, so therefore IT IS IN FACT Shane and Ryan’s Bridge that they have joint possession of :) And Shane wasn’t being teasing about it AT ALL. He wasn’t saying, “Ha, Goatman’s gonna get BOTH OF US NOW.” He was being painfully genuine in a “i want this to be a thing you and me share” kinda way. 😭

3. Shane saying that he will more than likely finish the Hotdoga someday and that he has the ending roughly planned out in his mind! :D He also explained that he stopped due to the work load, leading Ryan to say, “He made the Hotdoga to annoy me, but then he was like ‘Damn, this is a lot of work!’” 😭 (Also someone made a comment on the dead look in Ryan’s eyes at the mention of the Hotdoga and said, “It took me back!” and Ryan sadly responded, “Me too.” Haha!)

4. The Shaniacs teasing Ryan about the evidence he caught / the evidence that he found compelling enough to include in the live show. Some person yelled nonchalantly, “FAKE!” and Ryan teased them multiple times through the show. Another person put air quotes around the word “evidence” while talking to Ryan and Shane took his hat off for a second in respect, and another person brought a laser pointer to help Ryan point out the evidence cause it was so hard to see and Ryan was so flabbergasted 😭 BRO WAS GOING THROUGH IT!!! (It was all lighthearted respectful teasing and Ryan was a good sport about it all!)

5. A person, dressed HEAD TO TOE as the professor, politely tossed some jelly beans at Shane, Meredith, and Ryan. Shane then dropped some of said jelly beans and proceeded to eat them off the ground, claiming that since they landed on the white carpet under their feet and not the stage that they were fine. Ryan and Meredith were NOT pleased in the slightest. Ryan did however take a clean green jelly bean out of Shane’s palm and Shane let him happily and then politely offered one to Meredith (she said no haha.)

6. SHANE ALMOST FALLING WHEN HE GOT UP TO DO THE ESTES METHOD LMAOOO!

Shane and Ryan talking about the episode they discussed the possibility that the man who died playing piano pooped himself and then revealing that they had to cut for like five minutes because they cried laughing so long. Shane, while reminiscing about this moment, said, “Very sad but GOD DAMN was it funny!” 😭 He also revealed that there have been MANY times him and Ryan have laughed themselves to tears together and I thought that was kinda sweet.

8. Meredith and Ryan thought there was a ghost backstage, and then Shane and Ryan lied to Meredith and said the ghost started acting up again when she left, resulting in Meredith believing that the ghost was just racist.

9. A fan asking Shane a question about a certain clip and saying, “When that ghost called you daddy-” and Shane, COMPLETELY misunderstanding what they said, yelling confusedly, “WHEN THAT GHOST FUCKING DIED?!?!?!? 🤨🤨🤨”

10. And lastly, Ryan calling Steven their “Delicate Steven Lim” and teasing him for the last few minutes of the show haha 💛 The best part of it was when Ryan was talking about him and Shane taking Steven ghost hunting years ago and stating that Steven had said he found his calm. Ryan, remembering this moment, said, “He didn’t find calm, he TALKED TO GOD!!! FOR FIVE MINUTES!!!!!” 😭 and the exasperation in his tone was so damn funny.

Bonus. This person came up to ask a question holding an empty nacho box and Ryan was weirdly extremely fixated on it 😭 He was pretty much like, “Did that hold nachos??? Cool. It looked like a nachos kind of box. Cool, cool. You looked like you enjoyed them? The nachos?” I literally have NO CLUE what that was about but I think he might have been hungry for some nachos idk?!?! 😭😭😭

(Other honorable mentions are Ryan being upset the ghost called Shane daddy and not him, Shane yelling that he’s “GOT PUPPETS TO MAKE!”, Ryan getting a little anxious when people weren’t cheering for his evidence and being like, “NEVERMIND I DON’T THINK IT’S COMPELLING ANYMORE I SWEAR-“, Shane blasting “Mamma Mia” before the show, and Shane taking amazing care of a doll someone gifted him and putting it between him and Ryan!!!)

The show was AMAZING, the episode was SO great, (NO SPOILERS BUT YOU GUYS ARE IN FOR A TREAT!!!), the people there were so accepting, and the Ghoul Boys were so UNBELIEVABLY NICE TO EVERYONE. If you have the money and time for it, I honestly recommend buying a ticket to one of the shows because I had SUCH A GOOD TIME. (Also, LITERALLY DON’T BE SCARED TO ASK THEM A QUESTION OR GIVE THEM A GIFT CAUSE THEY WERE SO GRATEFUL, PATIENT, AND KIND, ESPECIALLY TO PEOPLE WHO WERE OBVIOUSLY ANXIOUS TO TALK TO THEM.) I honestly have NOTHING bad to say about my experience. It was a dandy time and I plan to go to another show in the future if they ever tour again.

minji is defo a morally grey character here, either u like her or not. both minyn in attention, while the smau is still rather lighthearted, are red flags lol. one of them has no self-confidence and always goes back to her ex and the other one is just a sadist. in the end will yn have character development? probably not because all of this takes place within a week. the duration of their relationship is incredibly short considering their feelings for one another. while you may think yn is stupid for going back, i feel like a lot of people experience the same thing. people joke about going back to their ex and still missing them and they will go back to their ex if they had a chance to.

minji prob doesn’t miss yn, just the idea of her. their relationship can be perceived as genuine or fake. in attention, there’s a always a domino effect. yn is put into a fake relationship -> she doesn’t text minji about it -> minji doesn’t ask her about it -> minji doesn’t give her a chance to explain etc. both of them don’t do many things in the relationship. yn is hurt, definitely but will she go back to minji if she came begging on her knees? absolutely.

while i agree with you that i would never go back to someone that treated me that way, i can’t say that for certain. the premises during their breakup was that yn and minjeong were dating, which led to yn getting hate comments and death threats like any idol couple does. if i were yn and i saw these comments, wouldn’t i have a desperate need to be loved? and who else to love me other than my ex-girlfriend? if she did it before she could do it again, right? maybe you can relate to yn, maybe you think she’s stupid. maybe you hate minji, maybe you sympathise with her. attention’s storyline will not change based on the comments i receive from you guys. it’s like seeing your friend in a toxic relationship. you can’t control the outcome.

Hiiiii!

To premise my ask, I am finding difficulty making my two male characters go from friends to dating subtly. Like in a way that makes the reader go ‘OH’ when it comes out. I'm mostly struggling because these are teenage boys who make gay jokes(nonoffensive, just basic stuff I see people do all the time like “that was a little fruity bro” or “if you like me like that just say it” also if that is offense let me know, I'm straight and struggling a bit😭) in friendly banter.

If that was hard to read let me attempt to summarize:

Hey there! Disclaimer: this blog is fairly inactive now, sorry-- most of the mods got busy and and I lost the energy to run it.

However, this is primarily a writing question, and I like talking about writing, so I'll give my advice:

There are 2 questions here: 1 is if their gay jokes are okay, 2 is how to have a background romance.

1: The problem I see here is, if these characters are not out as queer to the reader (like if the reader knows they're queer but not that they're dating), this could definitely read offensive. I don't like hearing about straight people making jokes about us-- the reason gay people might call each other fruity or other terms is mainly ironic or to reclaim those terms. If I'm in a room of straight people making those jokes it makes me uncomfortable bc they're punching OUT, while amongst other queer people, the jokes are made funny because everyone there knows the others ARE queer. Context is important.

That said, there's definitely times where things like that seem to set up a ship (that we have a history of thinking will never be true, but is more and more common). For this I think the joking flirting is perfect. So I think joking flirting is fine.

"Fruity" and other terms, even queerr and gay-- or jokingly homophobic jokes (like, I say to my partner all the time, "that was gay, we don't do that here" and it's completely a joke), may come off wrong. Some things I just do not want to see as a joke period, no matter who says them, how out they are, even if the speaker is queer. Some things I find fine to joke about irl but don't think should be in books because it does reach a wider audience (there's nuance there, no hard and fast rules, but there definitely are things I wouldn't mind jokes about but wouldn't want repeated in books). And then there's plenty of lighthearted stuff that is perfectly fine for queer characters to joke about just like people do irl. I think "Fruity" as yourr example is probably okay when it's from queeer characters but might cause some discomfort if I think the people saying it are straight. (That said, fruity is usually used for gay men, I am not one, and will ultimately differ to those who have more experience with the term).

That said, I think your best move is: let it slip to the reader, or make it kind of obvious, that ONE of them might be into the others, or is queer. Some comment nearly in, some special focus on that character, flattering descriptions of men, or jokes about themselves being queer (or if you're up to it, they come right out and say it).

2. How to write a romance behind the scenes:

My advice? Write it.

I've seen a lot of advice that writeers first needed a warm-up. Before you geet into writing your main story, spend like 15 minutes writing the two of them interact. Have them flirt, have them confess, have them cuddle or do things for each other. Look up fluff and ship prompts, even AUs.

Then, or at the same time if it jives with you, plot out their romance alongside your regular plot. A few points to decide when they happened: when they each started to like each other, when they admitted it, when they went on a first date, when they had sex for the first time (or if, this is optional), other points in the world relationship-- using your fluff scenes as inspiration.

Then you know where they stand. You can add little moments into the main story now. You can have them have an inside joke that they reference because you actually know what happened! (Though, tell us later, after revealing it, even if it's quick). You can have them spending time together that the MC doesn't think that much of.

This romance will not be in the main story, so you don't have to be good at romance. It can be dumb and cringe, or lack real chemistry, bc no one will see it.

The way I describe this sounds like a lot, but my advice with sketching the beats out and writing small scenes can apply to any sub/background plot you have. Really you may only spend like 4-6 sessions doing a warm up with them, then switch to different characters or background scenes or just rewriting smth from a different character's POV, and then plot out the beats once before moving on to another background thing.

You don't even get to See the sticker you just have to press A knowing there's probably something there cuz the boulder is a hint. Definitely this was quite funny to me.

I think Kiawe has a sense of humor 😭 he has this unemotive serious expression by default but I think he has his own way of being funny Especially cuz he can look so serious while being funny. I feel like he can be a little sarcastic.

One of my headcanons is that the humour of his deeply unserious trial

And how he reacts with so much surprise that you can figure it out so easily

Is on purpose 😭😭 I know when they made the game they just made it so that he Actually unironically was surprised you easily figured it out and there's no layers to it at all

But when I selfship I like to think that he purposely added in the funny aspects and intentionally reacts with shock. Especially as many trial goers are kids or young teens. I feel like he may planned a serious, complex dance (given how he has so many pokemon at hand) especially with how much I think he'd want to showcase his cultural dances, but he realised it might have been a bit intense without some fun elements. Also since one of his lines in pokemon masters have him say people often think of him as too intense

I hc Lana influenced him to add more humorous aspects to his trial. Especially since lana always makes jokes herself. Maybe it was a lighthearted meal together and they were discussing how they set up their trials, and they suggested Kiawe could make his more fun.

So he did, with the suggestions of the hiker also. And he found that the 11-12 year olds found it very enjoyable, and for the teens or adults doing the trial, it actually made them giggle how serious he tried to present himself but the trial contrasts it. So he just keeps it this way.

In my selfship version, to me his trial isn't 1:1 as simple as the game has it, it actually is more detailed and represent the unique cultural dances of alola, but the end poses and the differences between the poses still end up funny and ellicit some giggles from trial goers.

The way he pretends to be shocked with a straight face makes me imagine him being sarcastic with that same serious expression. I feel like he'd make joke like that and I'd ask 'are you joking' and he's say 'No.' and I'd just start laughing bro 😭 even if I reply with 'Ok.' I will still break out in a smile and I think Kiawe enjoys doing this and he also smiles a little when he makes me laugh. And I laugh really easily... I feel like it'd really help him loosen up and he's grateful for it cuz i think he worries himself out a bit too much..

You seem to have not read the post properly. I'm not mad at Mark. At all?? I don't think he's 'bigoted' . I just think he should take a break (he's been making daily comics for over a YEAR NOW.) And that next time he does a comic feature say LGBTQIA+ stuff / issues, to do some research and maybe go over it with some people to make sure it won't come off the wrong way. I Explained in the post why both posts and jokes came off wrong. Jokes can be misunderstood/mistaken (I pointed out how on the Twitter version of his Test comic people where asking about "where to find " such tests and to give links.

don't feel the need to reply to this but THANK YOU so much for your ritsu meta, i always love reading when you post and even if i don't always agree 100% you have such amazing and insightful meta about mp100, especially ritsu. like ritsu as a character resonated with me SO MUCH and i could see myself in him and i actually like that he snapped because of all the pressure and loneliness he was under, because it felt so realistic to me. and i really do think that even if it's lighthearted, the fandom DOES mischaracterize him a lot and that he's not just emo or angsty or violent, and it's really depressing to see people depict ritsu as like... depressed, jealous, making stupid decisions, mean, etc ALL the time. it honestly gets super frustrating... i guess i just want to say that i really appreciate when people do take the time to analyze his character and see his good traits, and that i am really grateful to you for like, continuing to treat every mp100 character with respect

Every character in mp100 gets flanderized by the fandom from time to time, that will just happen with fandoms, and with mp100 it's an especially easy issue to fall into because... like. As that one post by scribe said, mp100's characters work on contradictions, and people aren't usually well versed in working with that. but with Ritsu, it does seem to paint him in a rather negative light, huh? Those aspects of his character do exist, but it does get frustrating when, as I've said before, they're the only ones people focus on to a surface level. I'm not gonna be the most coherent rn cause I hadn't been able to sleep all night (not related to anything, my sleep schedule's just fucked lmao), but I really feel you anon on that. I see a lot of myself and my sibling in Ritsu (and Mob), and so I guess that's why it sometimes hurts for me too - to see people dismissing him as just 'angry' and 'irrational', to see his struggles boiled down to him just being dramatic. I'm not gonna get into it, and I'm aware this is my own personal baggage to work through, but yeah.

I will say, though, I find the comments about how silly it is for Ritsu to be angsting over people 'complimenting him' especially funny 😭 bro you dont even know how much people lauding you over your sibling while you both are actually in extreme distress and can't actually communicate enough to help each other can fuck you up lmao

• Obviously you're both going to take Sunky under your wings. He's a kid after all, and you're drawn to him for his enthusiasm and childish charm. Majin, because he's a fellow Darkner and — if he has similar abilities to Ralsei as well — a healer as well.

• You're more prone to jokes however, and thus since Sunky so badly wants to be a bad guy like "the big purple guy!" you give him very lighthearted advice. Absolutely nothing serious, though. You don't want to see him actually hurting anyone. Childish pranks only for the child.

• Even those get Majin nervous; it could escalate on their own, without your influence over his actions eventually. Which leads to protest from you both, certainly.

"It's just little things, Maj!" You'd protested this how many times now? And how many times have you heard the veiled hedgehog's voice stutter and waver? "He's not hurting someone!" An arm was held around the much smaller companion you two now shared — although co-parenting would be a better term. Although you still knew virtually nothing about Sunky, and if Majin did know something, he was very hush about it.

"Yeah!" Sunky piped up beside you, the hood over his face proving no use in hiding the mischievous grin and glint of his red eyes. He even dared to blow a raspberry at the man who journeyed alongside you two, whilst hugging your thigh.

There it was again, that stammer that plagued Majin's voice whenever you two sided with each other. Oh, how could he ever argue against you both at the same time?

• What you learn is a lot; Sunky inspiring his own wear off of this man, how supposedly he was the most powerful Darkner in the entire Dark World. He sounded interesting to you, to say the least.

With an arm lifting the little hedgehog up to your chest, you let out a little amused hum. "Think I could see him sometime?"

"No." Majin interjected, steely cold. The air itself seemed to get colder around you three, and between the gaps of the veil you could see bright eyes staring you and Sunky down. "You can't. Not unless you have a death wish."

And you couldn't die. You were The Lightner, the one to help the Dark World(s)! And it was his duty, as an acolyte of the darkness, to see to it that you achieve your goal.

Sunky began to protest, but Majin quickly began speaking again in his place. "...He is not to be trifled with. And he is most certainly not as glorious as you see him to be." His head turned to the smaller hedgehog, still dead serious but talking in a tone so as not to scare the young'un. "He's terrible, and ruthless." And he'd seen it all. Every last lord of this world crumbling beneath that terrible faker king's hand.

How could Sunky ever see something worth idolizing in him?

• Truth was, not even Sunky knew. Or maybe he was just too young to really understand. Just to be sure, both you and Majin eventually silently agreed to keep a closer eye on him. Just to make sure he wouldn't learn anything that this usurper was doing, and try to replicate it.

• Eventually you learned not to encourage the little guy not to pull even simple pranks yourself. Sunky was powerful, immensely so, and as young as he was he had very limited control over what he could do.

• It was a rare instance were Majin was away; he'd brought you to the refuge of his small and broken town, hidden away between the great blue trunks of wood all around you. And Sunky had attempted to use magic; he just wanted to show you what he could do! He swore!

• It got out of hand fast, and you — who had no experience in the magical field whatsoever — could only watch as several mighty branches above you crackled and fell. Luckily you'd both gotten away unscathed, and you hid the broken branches the best you could before Majin came back.

Although nothing went unnoticed by his observant eye, and when he returned he was tensely surprised, to say the least.

"What happened?" He somehow already knew, and some instinct told you to shield Sunky, or at least hold him.

And then you stood, as strongly as you could, and tried to explain everything. But Sunky got to words first, even if he could hardly form a sentence without shedding several tears.

"I didn't mean it!" That was all he could say before hiding his face, and slowly, curiously, Majin's head tilted to one side. "It was bad! Really really bad!!!"

Like he felt bad for trying to be a bad guy. Felt horrible about it, even. Your heart panged, and you sat back down while Majin came in closer, kneeling before you.

One of his gloved hands gently caressed Sunky's cheek, his voice shushing him just as tenderly. "Hey now, did anyone get hurt from it?"

There were a few sniffles, and the little blue hedgehog looked up at you as if asking, were you hurt? You shook your head, and so he looked back at the Darkner.

"Then it's alright. The trees will heal themselves and grow back with enough time. Like you said, you didn't mean to; an accident doesn't mean that you're bad." His other hand reached over, so that he was cupping Sunky's face between his palms.

Soft music arose from somewhere, just as Majin began humming the same tune. You looked around in wonder as you could feel Sunky relaxing in your hold, and once your older companion began to sing, you were nothing short of awestruck.

The deep blue forest seemed to spring to life with flora, luminiscent flowers of pinks, purples, and bright sky colors sprouting around the trunks, vines crawling up the old empty houses. Lichens of white and lilac making the woods soft.

It was a lullaby of life and love, melancholic in a place where there was so little Darkner life to speak of.

• It would lull Sunky off, and Majin would sit beside you as he returns to humming. He wouldn't explain the song, just tell you that it truly was an old lullaby that he knew and had sang alone for many years.

• It never had made his domain come to life like this before, and he even seemed to jokingly say it was Sunky's influence.

• Although in reality, he thought you had something to do with it. That you could restore this kind of wondrous life and vigor back to the entire Dark World.

"Let's save for thinking Sunk's some plant lifebringer when we don't have to worry about him as much." Playfully you cuff Majin's shoulder, smiling at him. "'Sides, you're like, his dad already or something with singing him to sleep."

If you asked him, you were more parental than he was. Although it got him deeply embarrassed to think that you both certainly shared similar attitudes towards Sunky, and even redder (bluer?) to think he could consider himself a parent alongside you for the self-proclaimed prince.

i wanted to talk a little about the last ask u answered, if that’s ok (in advance, i'm so sorry for the lengthy message!!) 



I GET ITTTT!! I SERIOUSLY RELATE. how u feel about ibrahim and how u kinda selfishly want him to continue streaming is something i feel so, so often for my oshis. but i wanted to thank you for that response to the ask (and the person who asked the ask too!! i feel like that helped me too), i already felt a little less alone in what i felt and also--- i kind of more properly understood my feelings about grads (?) 

like yeah, graduation is inevitable but we cant do any more than live in the moment and enjoy our oshi's (or other members u enjoy!) content as much as possible and feel happy while they're still here. (even if the pain is going to stick with us till our graves OTL gripping my blanket as i type) let's enjoy watching our fav vtubers' content for as long as possible and--- i'm not really sure how to properly express this thought but "turn your experience of watching them into something that can benefit you in the future"? like all the things you've learned from them and how they've helped u grow as a person, lets not forget it even after they leave (sorry for getting ahead of myself and saying things that don't make sense)

THIS IS TOTALLY UNRELATED BUT I JUST FELT LIKE TALKING ABOUT IT BC IM THINKING AB IT A LOT- consider it smth more lighthearted to distract from the heavy vibes ^^?  BRO I FOUND IT SO FUCKING FUNNY WHEN ROFMAO HAD THE WHOLE CONCERT, THEN AN INTERVIEW THEN THEY WERE LITERALLY DRAGGED AWAY BY THE ROFMAO (juku? Not sure) STAFF. LITERALLY BLINDFOLDED AND KIDNAPPED THEM, THOSE PEOPLE WERE ON A SCHEDULE !! (looking forward to tmrs rfm juku ig kwjdfksd) and on a completely different note, i found a clip of when kaida sang magnet in a guitar-karaoke (?) stream and let’s just say i was FLOORED- bro, custom ringtones don't seem to work on my phone but im setting it to this anyway. I want that clip injected directly into my veins, i- okok but all im saying is i love when he sang that with all my heart-
