I have decided to be annoyingly enthusiastic about Brisbane in this book. You will see bin chickens as magical and easily distracted/bribed messengers, bridge trolls that live in the Brisbane river, shifting streets and narrow stairwells that may or may not expand and contract at will.

Brisvegans, my darlings, share your secret wonders and nooks and crannys. The city ones not your personal ones.

I have a question.

The book I'm writing has two possible settings, either my main character who had a big loss moves from Aus to a tiny made up town in Washington State OR she moves back to her home town in Aus, namely Brisbane.

I'm torn, truly, on which setting would be best.

It's an Urban fantasy, the main gal is a witch that deals with a ghost and a monstrous magic user and water is a BIG theme. Rainy season in Brisbane versus rainy season in washington state works, and WA was the original setting. But considering the bullshit going on in the US, plus my own love for my city makes me pause.

Any thoughts are welcome. What setting would you like to explore with me?

Pre-Christmas dinner celebrations. Home-made low fat raw zucchini pasta with a sundried tomato and raw marinated vegetable marinara (caramelized onion, zucchini & mushrooms) topped with a chilli and lime homemade cashew “cream” and garnished with home-grown basil.
