Where the rubber meets the road.
These two didn't just have a relationship, they had a (soul)utionship. "The Prophecy" Hand on the throttle Thought I caught lightning in a bottle...
What these two had was magical. There is no debate that Karlie Kloss and Taylor Swift were electric: (I am using past tense for the moment, I will refer to them in present tense a bit later in the post)
Fast forward a decade later to Fortnight. This record did not hit me immediately the way "Folklore" and "Evermore" did, It has almost been a week since its release and I hadn't been fully onboard with TTPD. I was expecting something different, something not familiar and I had quite literally thought maybe Jack Antinoff and Taylor Swift had reached their limit together as collaborators. The music produced by Aaron Dressner had flavors and connections to "Folklore" and "Evermore," while parts of the album was reminiscent of "1989." My next thought that maybe the three of them had done all they could do.
And then the Matty Healy conversation exploded across the net (le sigh), and I just about gave up on the record.
I damn near had a sanguinary struggle within myself over The Tortured Poets Department (I know, that is very dramatic lol), and then I finally got it. The brilliance of this woman is unmatched.
The last song "The Manuscript." Now and then she rereads the manuscript Of the entire torrid affair
"The entire torrid affair" meaning the last decade (probably longer, but I am sticking with 2014-2024). The title isn't lost on me and many others - The Man-U-Script.
The last segment of the song
The only thing that's left is the manuscript One last souvenir from my trip to your shores Now and then I reread the manuscript But the story isn't mine anymore
She is closing the chapter on all of it. It's over, the countless theories, the stories we all have created about her. They're our stories now, we built them into a formidable, monstrous entity that took on a life of its own. "The last souvenir" are her words to us on this album. From the Swifities, to the Gaylors/Kaylors, to the haters, critics, industry, fans, media. She won't play this game anymore. Taylor gave enough clues on this album to make EVERYONE'S theory plausible (Karlie, Joe, Matty, Travis, Harry, Kim etc). She connected threads to come full circle, which brings us back to "1989," that 1980s syth-pop (hello! "I Can Do It With A Broken Heart"). This is why she and Jack Antonoff brought us back to where it all began, Karlie Kloss and #Kissgate (Dianna Agron, too, who can forget "Wonderland). Aaron Dressner summons moments within this records of the two albums that fractured my soul, F & E. That folky-pop melody that gets into your skin to change the DNA. No joke, I sobbed listening to "Folklore" and "Evermore."
With TTPD, Taylor comes in like a thrashing, tumultuous storm; at times seething and others admonishing. She is singing to herself, for herself and without need of approval from the mainstream radio (or anyone else). TTPD is messy, too much, not enough, vulnerable, real, relatable and she is tired of our collective shit.
Back to "The Manuscript" This Era has come to an end and she is leaving us with the ruins, the aftermath of what she went through: being forced to hide who she really is, having to placate the rabid fans who believe the stories of every boy she has ever dated. She has had zero privacy and the only safe place Taylor has ever had was her music, she is the ONLY one who knows to whom she sings. Does she love her fans, of course, but Mother is tired and done. She is ready to come clean and live the life she has crafted to keep in secret in order to protect the innocent.
The beards, NDAs, slight of hand, she is smashing all that we know. It's not her reflection she seeks to shatter, it's the illusions. In "Fortnight" the nurse, a woman (cannot convince me that it's not Karlie. A doorframe is 6'8" and that nurse is about 5" shorter that frame, which would make that person 6'3" :), comes to save her, gives her the key to set her free. The men in the video are the ones who are torturing her. Like the last 10 years, The poet has been tortured by the department of men: Joe, John, Conner, Jake, Harry, Calvin, Tom, Joe, Matty, Travis, Scooter, Scott, and the list goes on.
It's "Robin" that has got a choke-hold on me.
Buried down deep And out of your reach The secret we all vowed To keep it from you in sweetness
She is singing to a child, a kid, and I am going to say a little boy. Is this song about Levi? I am going to say yes. Hands down the gem of the album, and our cue to realize she is telling us what is next, her family, the loves of her life: Karlie and the kids. That is what she wants and that will be her next chapter. We struggle to interpret the Taylor that is always ten steps ahead of us. Her Eras Tour, this will be the last one for a while. Once it has wrapped, I wouldn't be surprised if she disappeared for a spell. Will she produce more work, sure. Perform, probably, but this last decade has taken a toll, and this tour has been a herculean effort. Hence, its wild success. Could she retire (FLORIDA)? It's possible, but she would never tell us, we would have to figure that out for ourselves.
I have more to say, but it's late and I am sleepy. As I get lost in the piano of "The Manuscript" I am reminded of the book "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo"
Not sure if anyone is going to see or read this, but I needed a place to write my thoughts about this extraordinary album that I almost let slip through my fingers. Good night and sleep well everyone <3

all 1989tv vault tracks are about dianna agron
Slut:
“everyone wants him that was my crime” at that time everyone knew taylor was dating harry because they were going on pap walks since the start of their relationship, and also everyone loved and wanted him. So from “lovelorn and nobody knows” we can know that the one she was really in love with…was not harry. The “he” she refers to in the song is harry, but the “you” is another person, who she was privately dating. That’s why she said she would pay the price of everyone calling her a slut but “you” wouldn’t, because nobody knew about the secret “you”.
And then she realizes that if people are gonna judge her for everything she does, she might as well be with someone she truly loves.
Also, the flamingo pink, which I think they posted around the same time—
Say Don’t Go:
“why'd you have to lead me on?” harry wasn’t leading taylor on, they were full on dating.
“why'd you whisper in the dark? just to leave me in the night?” I think harry stayed the night with Taylor a few times, so he wouldn’t have to leave her in the night because everyone knew they were dating, but dianna would have to.
“the waiting is a sadness. fading into madness” I really don’t think harry could make her that mad, if you agree Wonderland is about dianna then this is too.
This is like a breakup song, and I’ll say it once and for all—the breakup songs on 1989 can’t be about karlie, kaylor were just in the beginning when taylor wrote the album.
Now That We Don’t Talk:
“I cannot be your friend, so I pay the price of what I lost and what it cost” “truth is I can't pretend it's platonic” a very we’re-friends-but-want-to-be-more situation, which fits right into a gay relationship. Also, when were harry and taylor ever platonic? Neither of them needed to pretend they’re platonic because they started dating right after they met and everyone knew that they were dating so it just doesn’t make sense.
“what do you tell your friends, we shared dinners, long weekends with?” everyone knew harry and taylor were dating, so did their friends, then why would taylor add “what did you tell your friends” when there was nothing to explain about them sharing dinners and weekends because they were dating!!
“you part the crowd like the Red Sea”
“you grew your hair long. you got new icons”some people may argue that dianna didn’t grow her hair long at that time, but this line can be figurative, saying that dianna changed her brand (maybe “straighten” up) and everything.
Suburban Legends:
“I had the fantasy that maybe our mismatched star signs would surprise the whole school”
taylor is a Sagittarius, harry is a Aquarius, karlie is a Leo, and dianna is a Taurus—
“class reunion”, “1950s gymnasium”, and the lockers in the lyric video visuals, it’s all very Glee (and the cheerios) coded
“I pace down your block” brings back to I Wish You Would, and that song is about dianna.
“when you told me we'd get back together”“waves crash on the shore, I dash to the door, you don't knock anymore, and my whole life's ruined” same concept as Style, a relationship that’s on and off and in the end taylor realized that that person would always come back into her life no matter how many times they left, so her life’s ruined (in a good way). And Style is obviously about dianna.
Is It Over Now:
also talking about an on and off relationship, in which she kept wondering if they were over or not. taylor and harry only dated for two or three months, how can they fell apart and came back together over and over again?! It’s very Out Of The Woods and Style coded, and so it’s about dianna.
I know “when you lost control. red blood, white snow” is a reference to their snowmobile accident, also mentioned in Out Of The Woods, but personally I think that song is about the pain of bearding and not being able to be with the one she truly loved (dianna). So in Out Of The Woods she’s talking to harry, but it’s more like “are we out of this faking pretending painful relationship?” And maybe when the accident happened, with the sun coming up and them looking at each other, they realized they didn’t want to do it anymore, it wasn’t worth it, so they decided to set each other free.

Can You Feel the Love Tonight
Written By: Elton John & Tim Rice
Artist: Elton John
Released: 1994
Alternate versions included: Matthew Broderick & Sally Dworsky for The Lion King, 1994; Jason Raize & Heather Headley for The Lion King (OBC), 1997
An alternate version of the song of the same name from the 1994 Disney animated film The Lion King. This version is a piano-driven soft rock ballad by famed English singer-songwriter Elton John, who also composed many songs for the movie. It was the end credits song of the movie as well as a well-charted single in its own right, peaking at #4 on the US Billboard Top 100 as well as topping the US Hot Adult Contemporary and France’s SNEP charts. The lyrics of this version differ greatly from the version in the movie, but still covers roughly similar themes to that of the movie. The song won an Oscar and Golden Globe for Best Original Song in 1994.
[Verse 1] There's a calm surrender to the rush of day When the heat of a rolling wind can be turned away An enchanted moment, and it sees me through It's enough for this restless warrior just to be with you [Chorus] And can you feel the love tonight? It is where we are It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer That we got this far And can you feel the love tonight? How it's laid to rest It's enough to make kings and vagabonds Believe the very best [Verse 2] There's a time for everyone if they only learn That the twistin' kaleidoscope moves us all in turn There's a rhyme and reason to the wild outdoors When the heart of this star-crossed voyager beats in time with yours [Chorus] And can you feel the love tonight? It is where we are It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer That we got this far And can you feel the love tonight? How it's laid to rest It's enough to make kings and vagabonds Believe the very best [Outro] It's enough to make kings and vagabonds Believe the very best
Original movie lyrics:
[Chorus] Can you feel the love tonight? The peace the evening brings The world, for once, in perfect harmony With all its living things [SIMBA] So many things to tell her But how to make her see The truth about my past? Impossible! She'd turn away from me [NALA] He's holding back, he's hiding But what, I can't decide Why won't he be the king I know he is The king I see inside? [Chorus] Can you feel the love tonight? The peace the evening brings The world, for once, in perfect harmony With all its living things Can you feel the love tonight? You needn't look too far Stealing through the night's uncertainties Love is where they are

I Say a Little Prayer
Written By: Hal David & Burt Bacharach
Artist: Aretha Franklin
Released: 1968
Originally recorded by: Dionne Warwick, 1967
Cover included: Dianna Agron for Glee, 2009
Originally written for Dionne Warwick by Burt Bacharach and Hal David in 1966, Aretha and her ‘Sweet Inspirations’ were fooling around before a show and warming up by singing “Say A Little Prayer” when it became obvious that they should make their own version. A second chance for Bacharach who wasn’t happy with his original version and told the L.A Times: “I thought I blew it. The tempo seemed too fast. I never wanted the record to come out. So what happens? They put out the record and it was a huge hit. I was wrong.” Although Aretha’s never quite reached the fame of Warwick’s version, it did reach 10 on the Hot 100 chart and 3 on the R&B chart. Even Bacharach finds Aretha’s version more pleasing: “Aretha just made a far better record.”
[Intro] (I say a little prayer for you) [Verse 1] The moment I wake up Before I put on my makeup (Makeup) I say a little (Prayer for you) And while I'm combing my hair now And wondering what dress to wear now (Wear now) I say a little (Prayer for you) [Chorus] Forever (Forever), and ever (Yeah) You'll stay in my heart and I will love you Forever (Forever), and ever (Ever) We never will part, oh, how I love you Together (Together), together (Together) That's how it must be to live without you Would only mean heartbreak for me (Ooh-hoo) [Verse 2] I run for the bus, dear But while riding I think of us, dear (Us, dear) I say a little (Prayer for you) And at work I just take time And all through my coffee break time (Break time) I say a little (Prayer for you) [Chorus] Forever (Forever), and ever (Ever) You'll stay in my heart and I will love you Forever (Forever), and ever (Ever) We never will part, oh, how I love you Together (Together), together (Together) That's how it must be to live without you Would only mean heartbreak for me (Nobody but me) Forever (Ever), and ever (Ever) You'll stay in my heart and I will love you Forever (Forever), and ever (Ever) We never will part, oh, how I love you Together (Together), together (Together) That's how it must be to live without you Would only mean heartbreak for me (Ooh, ooh-hoo) [Bridge] My darling, believe me (Believe me) For me, there is no one but you Please love me true I'm in love with you (Answer my prayer) Answer my prayer, baby (Answer my prayer) Say you'll love me true (Answer my prayer) Answer my prayer, baby (Answer my prayer) [Chorus] (Ey) Forever (Forever), and ever (Ever, ever) You'll stay in my heart and I will love you Forever (Forever), and ever (Ever) We never will part, oh, how I love you Together (Together), together (Together) That's how it must be to live without you Would only mean heartbreak for me (Oh, nobody but me) [Bridge] My darling, believe me (Believe me) For me, there is no one but you Please love me true [Outro] This is my prayer (Answer my prayer, baby) Answer my prayer now, baby (Answer my prayer, baby) This is my prayer (Answer my prayer, baby) Answer it right now, baby (Answer my prayer, baby) Say you'll love me true (Answer my prayer, baby) This is my prayer, baby (Answer my prayer, baby) I'm in love with you (Answer my prayer)

Are you suggesting Dianna Agron is blackmailing Taylor Swift?
I think we need to stop using the word blackmail in general because 🎃 doesn't use that word. Here is what they said, and yes, I am saying that DA could possibly be that someone (especially when you consider that interview she recently did):
You’ve made it unscathed. Almost. Mere feet away from the light of freedom, someone you recognize steps from the shadows, and cruelly removes your mask, revealing your true identity before you intended. Threatening to reveal it to a wider audience before you intended. For all that you are a mastermind, it seems you are not unoutsmartable. And yet you cannot bring yourself to give the mirror back. Your getaway bike begins to leave without you, sparks flying as the tires try and fail to slow down for you. You have frozen in this moment of indecision. But your hesitation was a decision all its own. This person may try to beat you to the punch by revealing your true face to the world.

"idk if anyone watched that “Ryan Murphy is problematic” video on youtube but tell me I’m not the only one who found it an unfair and lacking in nuance take" can you expand on your problems with that video? 🤔
Okay so it's a half an hour video, available here, so I won't touch on every single point they bring up. From the get-go, my problem is that the vast majority of the talking points are based on nothing but conjecture and what Ryan Murphy is supposedly like as a producer but also more so as a person. I get that producers work with and are in charge of people but I find it inherently, hmm, well, let's repurpose the word "problematic" to try and draw conclusions about people based on their work, rather than just examining their work. I'm all for criticizing Ryan Murphy's work, and yeah sometimes we speculate what personal agendas or even vendettas could have been influencing said work, but this whole video simply doesn't justify its existence to me. There's simultaneously an aversion to drawing any sort of conclusion, since it is just a summary of rumours and allegations, but also a clear judgement in the way these rumours are presented.
Like I said I don't wanna touch on everything but just a few moments in particular to get a sense of what I mean:
The two sections on RM "hating" Chris Colfer and Dianna Agron. Sometimes I think the Glee fandom gets so immersed in its own mythology it forgets that so many of these universally agreed-upon truths are just rumours perpetuated by tabloids and tiktok teenagers. I've had an ask about that Rolling Stone interview sit in my inbox for a while so maybe one day I'll dissect the Dianna of it all, but the way this video uses pure conjecture to speculate even further just creates more and more unsubstantiated claims. The dots connected between Ryan's tweet about "Quinn" filming in Europe and the New Normal stuff is like, come on, where do we draw the conspiracy theory lines. And as another example of trying to substantiate conjecture with more conjecture, the Ashley Fink rumours coupled with the Lea Michele ones. I won't get into it here, it's in the video presented in such a bizarre way, imo. "Here's this malicious rumour, I know we have to take it with a grain of salt so here's another rumour to back it up." That's not how it works. But it is the nature of videos like this that they can't bring anything new because we don't have the facts, so they just regurgitate decade-old rumours and try to pass judgement on people we do not and never will know. Adding "...allegedly!" at the end of claims does not make the framing of this any better.
The biphobia section, which is so emblematic of Gleeks being ultra ready to blame everything wrong with Glee on Ryan Muprhy - and sometimes give him all the credit, too, which just does not work on any TV show, let alone one with three showrunners. Now, we won't get into the actual biphobia of it all because I'm sure I've spoken about it somewhere and I don't think whether Ryan Murphy is biphobic is the point. The point is that you can look at the text, Glee, and criticise its approach towards bisexuality and you'd be right to do so. But you can't just imply or outright say that this one writer out of three main ones, or later one of many, is responsible for it all, much less say that it reflects his personal beliefs. It's also wild to speculate on whether Brittana would have happened if it was only up to Ryan; credit Brad Falchuk (and Naya) by all means but it's just really running with conjecture to imply that Ryan himself never would have made Brittany bi. We just don't know "what if" and what's the point in trying to say stuff like "Ryan agreed, but WHAT IF Brad wasn't there" like come on, how is that a valid claim against Ryan Murphy. I certainly don't think it is in the way it's presented. Again, Glee's biphobia is fucked up. Again, I actually do have beef with RM regarding biphobia in particular. But this is all presented in such a tabloidy gotcha way and that doesn't sit well with me.
In general it's a lot of "maybe this doesn't mean, a grain of salt, BUT have you considered this other rumour and how it all adds up?" And no, I don't think it does and I don't like the way all of this is framed, where you're encouraged to make of it what you will but there's a very clear direction in which you're being steered. Which makes sentences like "I do normally try not to bring up things that are purely speculation" w i l d because, to me, so many of these are. Based on a kernel of truth or twisted from something factual, sure, but twisted nonetheless and the conclusions drawn can in no way be definitive. Just because these are all widespread rumours that doesn't make them not rumours.
There are other things like trying to use Naya's dad's tweets as a source and a, idk, gotcha moment against Ryan Murphy. "Still heavily questioned whether or not that's true," they say about Ryan's statement, but that short section becomes emblematic of the whole approach. Take Ryan's statements and defense with a heavy dose of skepticism but imply that claims against him are somehow more substantial. I just don't like the bias, the lack of true nuance, the lack of a point, really. And again blaming everything that happened on Glee, even stuff he didn't actually write on Ryan Murphy is just grasping at every possible straw to round out this video on him being "problematic". Still hate that word.
To be perfectly clear, this is not me coming at the person who made this video, I'm sure they're lovely and are just doing their thing on youtube. I just don't find it any more substantial than a buzzfeed article listing all the Glee bts rumours relating to Ryan Murphy. (I didn't touch on Dahmer simply because I can't and don't care to, plus most of the video is Glee-related anyway.)
#anon#glee asks#ryan murphy#glee production#kinda look i need a tag for things like this the nonglee one has been taken over#there were just so many bits in this video where i had to go#'no actually that's not how it works#that's pure conjecture that's bs you don't know that' etc etc#but that's all i wanted to sort of rant about that#and if anything it's against the whole glee gossip machine and the way in which we feel entitled to cast and creators#not against this channel and this video in particular#okay well i do have more to say on the topic of how everyone still looooves the glee drama and to bathe in it#and how that's the exact reason we need ATWYRM because god was that two parter with rm such a breath of fresh air

in character questions
Answer these in character, and feel free to add gifs into your answers.
1.) What did you want to do with your life when you were younger? What would the child version of yourself think about the path you paved for yourself?
When I was younger I imagined my life would look an awful lot like my mom’s. Marry a man with a good job, be a house wife and live a seemingly happy life. When I was in high school that looked like marrying Finn and living in Lima. Strange how much life has changed.

2.) What is your proudest accomplishment? Don’t be afraid to talk about what it took to achieve it and how you feel about it as well.
My proudest accomplishment is two things: giving up Beth as hard as it was, because it meant she had the best chance at a better life than Puck and I could have given her. And getting into Yale and graduating. I’m proud that I worked as hard as I did to accomplish those things and that I had incredible friends and my mom by my side while I did it.

3.) If you could do anything you wanted for one whole day, what would it be and why?
My perfect day would be sleeping in, taking my time getting ready for the day and choosing a nice dress with some makeup to go with it, grabbing some coffee with a friend and then having lunch with Shelby and Beth, maybe going to see a show or do some shopping and ending my day with a bubble bath and then some tea and takeout Chinese food, while in my coziest sweats watching something on Netflix. That would be a dream.
Blurred because you don't follow this Tumblr yet. Click to reveal.
where are they now?
Quinn and Puck broke up with the long distance being too much. They still keep in touch as much as they can and Quinn sends him updates on Beth when she gets them. She see’s Beth maybe a few times a year at this point but she’s hoping to see her more in the future.
She visits home when she can but she’s keeping herself busy in New York with auditions almost every week and her café that she works at. It provides her with just enough to live her life happy and as content as she can all things considered.
She hasn’t dated anyone and truthfully she still has feelings for Puck but she puts those aside so the two can have a good solid friendship for Beth. She still keeps up with some friends from Lima but not everyone, though she wouldn’t mind getting in touch with others once again.
She still keeps in contact with her mom back in Lima, they talk a few times a week for the most part. She has zero contact with her father and very little to no contact with her sister Frannie. Though she wouldn’t mind that changing.

Back in the day on CDAN, Chase was the American and Seb the foreign born alliterate closeted actors. It’s why when Enty posts about Seb and a girlfriend now, one of the old timers often comments “I thought he was gay”.>>
Enty has never been trusted. It's not even the same Enty. I'm talking about Ted C, a gay gossip, who worked at E entertainment. If he was gay, he would have insinuated that Dianna was a beard.
Dear Ted: So how about juicy details on Dianna Agron getting back together with Sebastian Stan? I saw some recent magazine pictures of them kissing on a Valentine's Day date. What's the scoop? This Dianna fan is dying to know how they reunited! —Cyndi
Dear On-Again, Off-Again: The two were reportedly spotted out on Valentine's Day together, even though rumors swirled the duo split back in December. But since the two babes blamed the break-up on long distance, we wouldn't be surprised if they gave it another go, if their schedules permit. They are super hot together, no? That settles it. Here's to round two!

so lavender haze is a bop and i think it's fascinating
like ofc there's the "straight view" based on the mad men explanation she gave (which is a lil suspicious in and of itself but i'll get to it later): a desire to be in the ambiguity of love and not forced to commit to the extremes of "a one night or a wife". living in the moment, be wise, strain the wine, carpe diem, and trust as little in the future as possible, all that horace stuff. additionally, the "damned if i do give a damn what people say" does play into her public image and mental health and how, even within heterosexuality, she'll be judged regardless
however, there's the queer view. first of all, lavender is a very gay colour, and i knew that even before i knew i was bi (granted, i wanted to be the """"educated ally"""" and liked history and etc but it's not tough information to stumble across). additionally, even though all google searches for "lavender haze" will now link back to taylor, the madmen example that she gave is only really seen there and on urban dictionary. while urban dictionary is fun, i wouldn't exactly call it a reliable source (unless it's bitching about my high school, in which case it's extremely reliable). i think that most people who say "gay pride... things that make me, me" would be more inclined to think it's a queer phrase. "the 1950s shit they want from me" could be about conservative gender roles, but also conservative sexuality ideals (keeping in mind that the lavender scare about homosexuality was in the 50s while madmen was in the 60s). a lavender haze, by the visual in the music video, obscures the truth, and, while hinting at lavender feelings, cannot be made out. "all this shit is new to me", honestly, speaks more to queerness than heterosexuality. being straight is the default in society, but also to ourselves. a lot of women who had gay feelings thought "oh silly me that's just how friends feel!" (it is not, in fact, how friends feel) and that is the only relevant thing to me about mrs dalloway. "creeping up on me" could be a reference to a more-or-less recent discovery of these feelings. plus, "them bringing up my history", while it could totally be due to taylor's reputation as a serial dater rooted in patriarchal ideals, could also be about a) the women taylor has been rumoured to have dated or b) the fact that people tend to invalidate multisexual identities particularly if they haven't dated someone of the same and another gender.
from that second possible reading, taylor could've only realised her queerness while in a relationship with joe, because that does happen. i think that, due to more and more young people coming out (which is great and lovely!!!!), we can sometimes forget that it can take people time to realise their identity. it's possible that, even with all the karlie kloss and dianna agron stuff, taylor presumed it was just "straight fun" (the dianna agron clip of "i've kissed girls before, it's fun!" springs to mind), before a potential solidification of her own feelings c. 2019 with lover.
please keep in mind that this is all speculation, and honestly a lot of projection. i don't claim to know taylor's sexuality, but i do think that it's lovely there's a deeply personal song for taylor that can resonate with both straight and queer folks, speaking to her talents as a songwriter.
tl;dr - stream lavender haze it fucking slaps
#lavender haze#midnights#taylor swift#gaylor swift#queer analysis#besides even if it is 100% heterosexual i love having queer readings#case in point: high school musical

Hey Scarlett! What are some of your favorite pieces of media about being a teenage girl or that you think really understand their experience?
hey! i feel like there are a lot of scenes from movies/tv or snippets of things that stick with me because they just really resonated w me in that respect rather than full things so i’m going to explain these snippets the best i can. also obv this reflects my own experience of being a teenage girl which is white and cis & like gay but closeted so i’m not claiming that these reflect the entire spectrum of teen girl experiences etc etc ANYWAY here’s my list and they’re kind of split into categories ig!
the scene in bring it on when she turns on the cd that cliff makes her and is so giddy about it that she has to get up on her bed and start dancing. other honorable mentions in this category: when jane is telling lizzy about mr bingley and gets so flustered thinking abt him she has to turn her face in the pillow and like wiggle around (i know jane’s not a teenager but still), the scene in the you belong with me video when she’s dancing. i think there are a lot of moment in the happier times of teenage girlhood where you’re so happy in a way you’ve never been before that you have to try and shake it out of your body bc it’s so overwhelming
the like “mom” section of this list is mostly comprised of the scene in goodwill in ladybird. that part where they’re fighting with each other then immediately stop when they find a dress they both like was SOO familiar. then there’s just specifically the way dianna agron delivers the line “i needed my mom” in season one of glee like. idk why that does something to me. the part in alison bechdel’s memoir “are you my mother?” where she talks about that time in the two weeks before college where you and your mom are at each other’s throats for no reason. there’s also something that always really touches me abt the way that needy curls up next to her mom towards the end of jennifer’s body that always makes me tear up. the way that mitski sings “mom will you wash my back?” and fuck it i’ll add juliet from romeo and juliet crying out for her mom when she takes the sleeping potion and doesn’t know if it will kill her or not! i think part of being a teenage girl at least for me and especially as the oldest daughter where you’re coming to that point where you’re no longer an extension of your mother and she doesn’t know what to do with you as another woman. you still really need like a child sometimes but you also feel like there’s no one who understands you less.
i think that things like dare me or jennifer’s body or ginger snaps are obviously like extreme but also do a really good job of nailing that feeling of being a teenage girl where you feel like a monster and also like the craziest person in the world and also like a god and also you’re deeply obsessed with another woman in your life and don’t know how to feel that without feeling a little demonic. i think one day you suddenly wake up at 20 and realize you were never an evil, irredeemable, unlovable person you were just like 16 yrs old.
a couple of specific song lyrics/the way they’re sung that i feel like encapsulate the feeling of being a teenage girl would have to be the desperation in lorde’s voice when she’s singing “you’re the only friend i need / sharing beds like little kids” it just encapsulates the feeling of being like 18 and feeling like your life is just ending. also the way olivia rodrigo sings the “red lights, stop signs” line in drivers license is just sooooo... like my drama club boyfriend broke up with me and i am the first person in the world to ever experience pain. the lyric from the best day when taylor says “i’m 13 now and don’t know how my friends could be so mean” just stabs me in the heart every time because it’s like i literally was! and i literally couldn’t! also triple dog dare by lucy dacus just IS being in love with a girl as a kid but not knowing it yet and not understanding how everyone can see it. “you tell me you’re afraid that we may die / i said ‘so what? everybody’s scared of that’” gets me every single time.
a couple other things that don’t really have a category: when ladybird and julie hold hands and listen to “crash into me”, literally ALL of PEN15, even though marianne is in college at this point i think when she says she’s not unlovable but she’s definitely hard to like is a BIG teenage mood in normal people.
anyway i’ll probably think of more and make a bigger list but here are some!

Chaotic Bisexual.
Shiva Baby writer-director Emma Seligman tells Ella Kemp about expanding her wildly cringey short film into an even more anxiety-inducing feature, why Virgo and Taurus make the perfect producing pair, and the eternal conflict of being a good Jewish girl.
“If I can skip a bris to see E.T., I like movies!” —Emma Seligman
It sounds like a strange riff on a guy-walks-into-a-bar joke: a girl walks into a shiva and bumps into her secret ex-girlfriend, then her sugar daddy, then his shiksa wife, oh, and their baby—yet the payoff is so much more rewarding.
Filmmaker Emma Seligman’s debut feature is a new kind of teen classic: 78 non-stop minutes teeming with well-drawn traits and tropes that define the best coming-of-agers, the best Jewish comedies and the best day-in-a-life psychological roller-coasters.
Shiva Baby began as a grad project—a short film of the same name—and Seligman’s feature-length embellishment impressed at last year’s virtual editions of SXSW and TIFF, where it was quickly snapped up for international distribution. In a way, Shiva Baby was perfectly tailored to the times we were living in: Danielle, our reluctant heroine, is trapped in a claustrophobic family event she can’t escape, as people from her past and lies about her future make their way deep under her skin.
Fred Melamed, Rachel Sennott and Polly Draper in ‘Shiva Baby’.
Shiva Baby is very much the product of a wry school of emerging filmmakers who understand excruciatingly mundane horror and pin-sharp comedy as intimate bedfellows. Seligman’s writing finds a way to flesh out gloriously caricatural Jewish relatives, probing and overbearing and irrational. She does this both through dialogue and a visceral, haptic aesthetic that lurches in and out of focus visually, and has a nails-on-chalkboard unease sonically.
Coming in hot with a 4.01 average rating, Shiva Baby is striking all sorts of discordant notes with film lovers. “Combines some of my biggest anxieties: being asked if I have a boyfriend as well as what my plans for the future are and people talking with their mouths full,” writes Muriel.
The film’s “bisexual chaos”, which hinges on a haywire performance from Rachel Sennott as Danielle, opposite Molly Gordon’s overachieving ex-girlfriend, Maya, is also one of its great strengths. Glee star Dianna Agron is the shiksa threat, Kim, while Danny Deferrari is Danielle’s hapless benefactor, Max. If that’s not enough? Polly Draper, Fred Melamed and Jackie Hoffman are also just there.
What do you think defines a Jewish sense of humor? Emma Seligman: It’s morbid usually, and darker—generally uncomfortable and cringeworthy. I think about Curb Your Enthusiasm or Seinfeld, and A Serious Man. It borders on, “Is this funny at all?” I think Jewish humor leans into the darkly funny British sense of humor. I’m Canadian, so I feel like I’m halfway between the UK and the US in terms of their sense of humor.
Was it always your intention to make a comedy that feels like a bit of a nightmare? You’ve mentioned Black Swan and Opening Night as touchstones… Because I came from a short film, the question when expanding into a feature was, “How are we going to keep everyone interested in this day?” It’s got to be a significant day, it’s got to be that this young woman’s life has completely changed from this day. So what is it that changes? Why are we watching it? I watched a lot of movies that took place in one day, one of them was Trey Edward Shults’ first film Krisha. And then from there I realized that anxiety and this scary psychological feeling is a great way to have the audience stay there.
I watched Opening Night because there’s a shiva in it, but it was more the lobby scenes that were so claustrophobic and tense. And then each step of the way with each department, we were like, okay, it’s gonna be tense, but then we got to music, I was like, okay, this has become a full nightmare. Initially, I was just like, it’s got to be tense, but by the end, I was like, well, it does feel like a nightmare to a young woman sometimes.
Because you mention that, I have to ask whether you’ve seen Bo Burnham’s Eighth Grade? I have, it’s incredible. It’s so funny, they’re both coming-of-age [films], and one of them is about a fourteen year old and then the same sort of feeling exists when you’re 22. When you’re fourteen is when it begins, and when you’re 22 you’re sort of at the end of it and you’re like, “Oh, I thought I figured out what I was supposed to do when I started feeling insecure this way at fourteen about sex and boys.”
Diana Agron and Danny Deferrari in ‘Shiva Baby’.
Let’s talk about Rachel Sennott, who you have describe as your “Virgo rock”. What do you bring one another in your creative partnership? She’s a hustler, and she sets goals like nobody else. I think she moves very fast, and I’m more detail-oriented. I don’t know if the movie would have happened without her because she was like, “What are the goals to achieve this film?” After we made the short film, she just kept checking in with me. She goes well beyond what an actor does, which is why she’s an executive producer, because she was very, very invested in seeing the movie get made.
I think she pushes. We joke that she brings me out of my depression and I help calm her down. I feel like Taurus is a little more chill. Virgos are also earth signs, but they run on a faster frequency. So I think I calm her down, especially when we’re writing and bringing it back to structure. But she’s way funnier, she’s able to give jokes so quickly. We balance each other perfectly, for sure.
Do you think your partnership with Rachel is the kind of partnership you could see yourself maintaining throughout your career? Definitely. I think it’s important to have a good friend and also a young woman. She’s got different career goals from me, but they’re aligned. And we’re not in competition with each other. I feel so grateful because so much of the time I feel like the world does make you feel like you’re in competition with your friends that are trying to do the same thing as you when you’re a young woman—or just maybe in general.
Rachel Sennott and Danny Deferrari in ‘Shiva Baby’.
Her character in Shiva Baby completely subverts the idea of a “nice Jewish boy/girl” which can be a trope in movies, but also very much a real thing in life. Is that something you consciously wanted to subvert, or did it come organically from the story you wanted to tell? I wanted to contrast that idea of a “nice Jewish girl” because every nice Jewish girl or boy has a sex life. I felt the sort of nice Jewish girl stressors on me were completely opposite from the NYU art school sugaring worlds, and hookup culture broadly. My family is such a huge part of my life and I think that those two sets of pressures are completely contradictory; to be a good girl or boy and have a stable career ahead of you, and to be finding, even if it’s at the very beginning, your eventual partner, or to just be in a relationship. And I felt like in school, no one wanted to date, everyone was hooking up. So many of my friends are sugar babies. I tried it super, super briefly.
I felt like the world was telling me to be like “an empowered, independent, sexy woman who doesn’t care what anyone thinks of her, and doesn’t abide by any rules”, and I was like, “This is the opposite of being a nice Jewish girl!” And I just felt like those two things were screaming at me. So I did want to play on that. But I don’t even think it’s playing, just because that felt like what I was trying to battle within myself. And I think a lot of young people do, whether they’re Jewish or not. That’s their family’s expectations. And then the world is like, “But don’t care and don’t commit…”
Writer-director Emma Seligman. / Photo by Emma McIntyre
But then you still have to go home to your parents at the end of the day and they’re going to tell you what to do… Exactly.
What would you want viewers to take away from Shiva Baby about the sugaring community that you feel has been maligned in the past? I’m not a sex worker, so I don’t want to speak on behalf of this community, but I definitely feel like there hasn’t been many positive portrayals of sex workers. So I just wanted to show someone—because I knew so many friends of mine who did it—who enjoyed it, or purposefully did it and didn’t feel bad or shameful about it. I think maybe a lot of people think that it’s always something that comes out of dire circumstances. But whether that is the case or not, I think there’s a lot of people who enjoy it and enjoy what they do like any other job. So I just hope that they’re able to sort of widen their scope of what a sex worker looks like and acts like. Every sex worker has got a family, friends, a full robust life, as we all do.
It’s time for your Life in Film questionnaire. Can you give me a few must-watch Jewish films for people who don’t know where to start? Fiddler on the Roof, Yentl, Keeping the Faith, Kissing Jessica Stein, A Serious Man. Definitely Uncut Gems, and Crossing Delancey.
Shiva Baby has been described on Letterboxd, variously, as “Uncut Gems but make it chaotic bisexual”, “the most stressful Jewish movie since Uncut Gems”, “the chaotic successor of Uncut Gems”, “if Krisha and Uncut Gems had a baby”, and, of course, “Uncut Gems for hot Jewish sluts”… Amazing, I love that. Extremely nice comparison.
Who is your favorite promising young woman? Not Emerald Fennell’s film, but a young creative or performer who you think is making waves. I love Hari Nef—I think she’s amazing and am really excited to see what she does next. I loved her so much in Transparent and Assassination Nation, and I don’t understand why she hasn’t been the lead in a million movies.
Molly Gordon with Rachel Sennott in ‘Shiva Baby’.
What should people watch next after Shiva Baby? Those Jewish movies would be a great start. And then Krisha, although I think a lot of people have seen it especially if they’re on Letterboxd! But then those Jewish romantic comedies, and then Obvious Child, all those movies are very sweet and endearing and helped me make it.
Separate from film, if it’s shiva-related then Transparent. If I didn’t have Transparent I don’t think I would have seen world of grounded, nuanced Jews that I could do comedy with. It would have been more in the Curb vein, which is also amazing, but a little more schtick.
What was the first film that made you want to be a filmmaker? My parents are huge movie buffs so I’m not sure there was one moment, but I will say that when I was six there was a re-release of the 20-year anniversary of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and I was at a horribly packed bris and my uncle was like, “Fuck this, there are so many people here, I can’t even breathe. Let’s go see E.T.” That was the first moment where I was like, if I can skip a bris to see E.T., I like movies.

Wow. Just wow. That is a Summer Project post that I do not have the brain cells to absorb atm because learning the ship names swiftgron and achele was. A. LOT. Also apparently Achele was 100% real confirmed happened in real life so I need to take a seat. As someone who never went more than 1.5 seasons with Glee and read Faberry fics years later on ao3 because Dianna Agron is just that good. I have taken unexpected emotional damage at being thrown back into this world.
you've given me emotional damage by bringing up achele in 2022

Glee Actors Ranked
As an acting coach, I want to rank the best and worst actors on Glee. This has nothing to do with the singing talents as I have the voice of a dying cat. But this is the final acting ranking
Dianna Agron- she is fucking amazing! the way she could bring quinn fabray into a likable and human person was incredible to see and she played the 'other woman/broken bird' so well. Her emotional scenes were heart wrenching and I really loved her perfomance.
Mark Salling- he is a horrible person. This is true. And I know you might be surprised to see that he is this far up because his singing... was something. But he was meant to play a jerk and he played a jerk. No sympathy for Mr. Salling however.
Chris Colfer- At first I rolled my eyes at the overly gay persona he created but as the show progressed he stuck out to me. His emotional scenes were something else and the sad scenes with his dad are still burned into my mind. Maybe he's number three because I just cannot stand Kurt Hummel.
Kevin McHale- Artie was never my favorite in the show, but Kevin had an amazing voice and his talent for being able to convey a nerdy yet creepy geek was fun to see and he showed a sense of maturity within his character (unlike others)
Lea Michele- Another horrible person! However, she does have raw talent. Her belting was incredible but she also had good skills as an actress. She was able to play Rachel Berry to a tee (maybe because she is her in real life) but I felt that Lea was giving her all and I can appreciate that.
Naya Rivera- God rest her soul. I am saddened by her death as she was an obviously talented young lady and I pray for her family. The scene when she was outed reasonated with me and Santana remains a favorite to this day. But at times, I felt that Naya was overdoing it and that she could tone back
Chord Overstreet- The prettiest boy in the show and I was in love with Sam. Chord was charming but I did think some of his scenes were cringy and like he was forgetting his lines
Heather Morris- Brittany didn't have much debth to her and that was probably a good thing because Heather was struggling as it was. Her emotional scenes made me cringe and they should have stuck with funny when it came to her. It was clear she was going for a Lisa Kudrow type thing but it was NOT working
Darren Criss- he is this low on the list because of his fucking. facial. expressions. And the overacting, the OVERACTING. Jesus. Youput Darren next to Chris Colfer and it was clear who was the better actor and who was there because they could sing and dance well
Amber Riley- I love Mercedes Jones. Who doesn't? Her singing talent was unmatched but Amber stuck to the sassy black girl and never really tried to give Mercedes any depth. But I forgot all about that whenever she hit the stage so props to her.
Harry Shum Jr.- Again. Those fucking emotional scenes. He was just so cringey. Have that handsome man stick to dancing please and thanks
Cory Monteith-Rest in Peace. He seemed like an amazing person and I pray for the people close to him. However his acting as Finn Hudson was shallow and I never had an emotional connection to his character
Jenna Ushkowitz- I hate Tina Cohen Chang. Maybe I shouldn't blame Jenna for this but she was so goddamn cringey and her 'badass' acting in later seasons made me want to tear my hair out.

biography
tw: pregnancy, manipulation, religion Quinn was one of the most popular students at William McKinley High School. She was President of The Celibacy Club, the captain of the cheerleading team, the Cheerios, and a member of both The God Squad, and New Directions. She was also in the prom court in her junior and senior years.
Quinn joins the glee club with Brittany Pierce and Santana Lopez to spy on her boyfriend, Finn, impressing the Glee club director, Mr. Schuester, with their song. She is upset when explaining to her cheerleading coach, Sue Sylvester, as to why she had joined. However, instead of being angry, Sue orders Quinn, Brittany, and Santana to be inside spies on the Glee club to help her bring it down, to which Quinn agrees.
Her life took a drastic turn when she became pregnant with Noah Puckerman's, Finn's best friend, baby. She lied to Finn and tricks him into believing that she got pregnant when he ejaculated prematurely when they were in a hot tub. Puck confronts her knowing it's his child, but Quinn says she doesn't want him to be part of it. After finding out Quinn is pregnant, Terri Del Monico, Will’s wife, approaches her and asks Quinn to give her baby to her, because she is faking her own pregnancy and can't tell Will she's not pregnant.
While trying on her dress for the Chastity Ball, Quinn's mother notices it's no longer fitting Quinn because her baby bump is getting very round and showing more and her mother says to exercise more. Quinn's father pops into the room and tells Quinn he wants to have Finn over for dinner. At the dinner, Finn sings to Quinn in front of her parents, which Quinn is angered by at first, but soon turns heartened. After Quinn's father angrily interrupts the song, he confronts Finn and Quinn about her being pregnant. Finn says they didn't have sex, but he doesn't believe Finn. Quinn is upset that her mother must have known that she was pregnant but did nothing out of fear of what Quinn's father would say. After the fierce argument between them and Quinn's father, he kicks her out. Finn brings Quinn to his own home, and his mother tells her she can stay with them as long as she needs to. The truth eventually comes out and Finn and her break up.
Quinn performs with New Directions at Regionals. After they perform, Quinn speaks to her mother, who informs her that she kicked her father out because he was having an affair and wants Quinn and her grandchild to move back in with her. Quinn then tells her mother that her water just broke and she is rushed to the hospital. Afterward, at Regionals, Quinn gives birth to her daughter, Beth, whom she gives up for adoption to Shelby Corcoran, the birth mother of a fellow Glee club member.
The next year Quinn comforts the new kid, Sam, and helps him clean up after he had slushies thrown on him for joining glee club. Later, they agree to sing a duet together for their weekly assignment, but when Sam tries to kiss her, she panics, fearing that by getting into another relationship, she would be going down the same path she did last year and she would lose her newly regained popularity. She decides not to sing with him. However, Rachel and Finn convince them to pair up again. The two are non-exclusive for a while but while Quinn is alone with Sam in the astronomy classroom one day, he tells her he loves her. Then he gets down on one knee and she starts freaking out because she thinks he's going to ask her to marry him, but wants her to accept a promise ring from him. Quinn tells him it's a maybe. This changes when Sam stands up for a fellow Glee club member who had been harassed all year long. Quinn approaches Sam telling him how she was proud of him for taking the lead and standing up. She then points out that the whole time they've been talking he hasn't noticed that she was wearing the promise ring on her hand, which she stole after breaking into Sam's locker with a nail filer. Unfortunately, this relationship does not last as Quinn ends up cheating with Sam with Finn, who had recently broken up with his girlfriend, Rachel.
During her senior year Quinn is found with a brand new image over her summer vacation, as she has turned punk and joined a girl gang, The Skanks. Shelby Corcoran returns to Lima with Quinn and Puck's biological daughter, Beth. She extends an offer to Quinn and Puck to see Beth, but only Puck accepts Shelby's offer. Puck tries to tell her to listen to Shelby but cuts him off. Quinn yells at Shelby saying she is Beth's real mom and storms out of the room. Later, Shelby tries to tell Quinn to notice what she has done with her life. However, once Quinn sees a photo of Beth on Shelby's cell phone, she reconsiders changing her attitude and decides to go back to her old image. Quinn asks to rejoin Glee Club, and she is welcomed back with open arms. Puck tells her that he is proud of her, but she says that all she wants is to regain full custody of Beth, and if dying her hair back to blonde and pretending she is special is what she's got to do, then she'll do it. The next week, Puck and Quinn convince Shelby to let them babysit Beth for a night of her choosing. Quinn plants false evidence to frame Shelby as an unfit mother in Shelby’s apartment so that she can call child service and get full custody of Beth. Quinn tries to join the Troubletones to get closer to Shelby, therefore closer to Beth. Puck later tells Shelby about the objects she placed around her apartment. Quinn later goes to Shelby's place, bringing a present for Beth and questions why she hasn't been allowed to join the Troubletones. Shelby refuses to give Quinn answers so they have a disagreement on what motherhood is. Later Quinn comes to Shelby's condo bringing a present for Beth. Shelby tells Quinn that she knows about the plot to get Beth back. Quinn says Beth is her baby. But Shelby says, "It's not about whose body she comes out of. It's about accepting the fact that you don't matter anymore, that your feelings and that your life and that your body, they all come second to making sure that the child is happy and safe." Quinn tells Shelby she doesn't know anything because she was a "cashwhore" with Rachel. Shelby, outraged, kicks Quinn out. Before leaving, Quinn asks if Puck gets to see Beth but Shelby cuts her off and says, "We're done here." Shelby points out that Quinn taking out her nose ring and dying her hair blonde again doesn't change anything.
One night, Quinn invites Puck to her house that Friday night as her mother would be attending a Christian wine tasting cruise the entire weekend. Puck declines, though she promises him that if he comes over, she would allow him to have sex with her, but he still rejects her. Though the two are later seen in her bed making out and about to have sex, Puck stops in the middle of it to make sure it doesn't going any farther considering that he doesn't have a condom but Quinn tells him that it's fine because she wouldn't mind getting pregnant with him again, they could make another 'perfect baby'. He apologizes to her for letting her down when she needed him and makes her realize that she doesn't need anyone else to make her special. He says that she's the one person he believes is going to get out of Lima and 'make something of herself', and he envisions her someplace warm and glamorous. Touched by his speech, she asks him to stay with her, lie with her and hold her, which he does. Then, she asks who he's angry with and Puck tells her that he had been sleeping with Shelby. She goes to Shelby and tells her what she knows. Shelby apologizes to her and tells her that she needs to enjoy her youth because her beauty will not go, but she will get older.
Quinn’s life had many downs, but she did have her fair of ups as well. She was accepted into Yale and studied acting. She is now a small actress and is hoping to have her big break.

TW: abuse and talk of temporary paralysis
ARE THERE ANY FAMILY DYNAMICS YOU WANT TO EXPLAIN? CONSIDER WHAT LIFE WAS LIKE FOR YOUR CHARACTER BEFORE THE REBELLION AND BEFORE THEY TURNED 21 AND HAD TO GO TO A BDSM ACADEMY LIKE TGA: While Quinn was always the golden child, Bellamy strove for perfection in her own way. It wasn’t an option, it was demanded. From the time she was little, her talent on the ice rink had been praised and lauded as pure excellence. The rigorous schedule of a skater kept her out of trouble and insanely focused on bringing home gold. Said schedule also kept her out of her home more often than not. She had the best coach that money could buy and that, coupled with the diligence and drive she possessed, fast tracked her to nationals. By the age of 16 she joined team USA and they brought home gold. Russell couldn’t have been more pleased. She went back into her life of juggling academics and rink time and four years later found herself back in the Olympics. Bellamy brought home gold in women’s singles but despite her own high score during the team event, team USA brought home silver. Although it wasn’t her fault, Russell saw this silver medal as a stain on the family’s name and took her to the rink upon her arrival home to work the submissive until it quite literally broke her. Falling mid air during a triple axel, Bellamy sustained an injury to the spine that left her temporarily paralyzed.
WHAT WAS YOUR CHARACTER’S LIFE LIKE WHILE THEY WERE AT SCHOOL BEFORE THE REBELLION?: By the time she was 21, she still couldn’t walk. Instead of sending her to the school Quinn went to, they sent her to Braxton Academy. Braxton wasn’t just a finishing school for BDSM, it was also a rehabilitation for those with disabilities where she was able to get the care she needed to regain full mobility of the lower half of her body. It took her a few years but by the time she was confidently back on her feet, her father insisted that she go to a school that was for “normal people.” She found this incredibly offensive but she didn’t feel like she had much of a choice so she found herself at McKinley. Since her days as an Olympian she’d become a little bitter and guarded. She no longer catered to every little thing that everyone wanted of her- she was cheeky, opinionated, stubborn, and a bit of a pain in the ass. She was still diligent, reliable, and clever. Bellamy knew exactly how to charm others should she choose- she wore a smile like a loaded gun. When the rebellion hit, she still wasn’t in a claim. She was having fun exploring every kink under the sun while getting herself into some trouble for sassing more often than not.
WHAT DOES YOUR CHARACTER THINK ABOUT THE OLD WAYS? WHAT DOES YOUR CHARACTER THINK ABOUT THE REBELLION?: During her childhood, the old ways were all she knew. The strict household was dominated by that solid structure and those harsh consequences for any misstep taken. After her injury, when things seemed bleak, and she no longer cared about being the perfect anything, Bellamy found she wasn’t fond of the old ways, she felt suffocated by the strict rules and absurdly defined structure. She had more of a free spirit that needed room to explore and grow outside the bounds of what she’d once known.
HAD YOUR CHARACTER GRADUATED BEFORE THE REBELLION CAME? IF SO, WHAT WERE THEY DOING IN THE REAL WORLD? IF NOT, WHAT WAS IT LIKE FOR THEM TO BE ON CAMPUS WHEN THE REBELLION TOOK OVER?: Bellamy knew something was going on and she bided her time until there was a safe way in to covertly help the rebellion succeed.
IS THERE ANYTHING YOU HAVE IN MIND FOR YOUR CHARACTER OR WOULD LIKE THEM TO DO?: Nothing yet!
