The Marvels - a pretty funny, if slight MCU venture...
Its no secret that the MCU has been struggling recently, in tv and in movies. I think Secret Invasion was one of the most disappointing things that have come out of the MCU. Prior to that, Love and Thunder was a big swing and a miss for me. She-Hulk wasn't funny enough to really work as a show. I didn't find Quantumania to be as bad as others did, but it was definitely the weakest of the Ant-Man films. In fact GOTG3 has really been the only clean winner since No Way Home. The Marvels released with very little hype and mixed reception. I enjoyed Captain Marvel, mainly for the chemistry that Brie Larson and Samuel L Jackson had, but it wasn't top tier Marvel for me. While I enjoyed Ms Marvel a lot, this movie's trailers and subsequent critical reception didn't inspire a lot of confidence.
Maybe because of the low expectations, but I had a lot of fun with this movie. I laughed a lot. The action was pretty good and the humor was largely genuinely funny. The SFX were up to par, which shouldn't be something I have to praise, but The Flash, Love & Thunder, and Quantumania have had shockingly poor VFX in recent times. I will say that the film feels slight, and certainly those who have watched Secret Invasion will find it confusing in continuity. This and Secret Invasion couldn't be more different in tone, and it does seem odd for these two projects to release so close to each other and be at odds with each other in a way. Zawe Ashton's villain is immensely forgettable. Arguably ranks only above a couple of one and done MCU villains.
The film's strength is the bond of the lead trio. They have genuinely good chemistry and they all seem to thrive of each others energy. Iman Vellani steals the show. She was fantastic in Ms Marvel and she's just as great here. Couldn't have found better casting for this role. She carries a lot of the humor of this movie. But Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris are a lot looser and at ease in this movie then they have been in this role in previous incarnations. And I do think they did a decent job reconnecting the Carol and Monica and giving it some emotional depth. Unlike with a lot of other films recently, I feel another 15 minutes or so could have been provided to give the connections between the characters some more depth. Samuel L. Jackson provides his funniest performance as Fury in this movie, which is a complete 180 from his darker turn in the role in Secret Invasion. Kamala's family is an absolute delight. The movie has some inventive action sequences, using the power entanglement to good use. The humor worked for me. It may not work for everyone. It is very silly. There is a sequence with a planet full of singing people, and a scene with many flerkens eating people. Both scenes are intentionally very goofy, but they just worked for me, unlike say, the humor in L&T, which clashed with the pretty serious Jane cancer and Gorr storylines.
I will say that the film was probably edited down a bit too much. There is some haphazardness and there seems to be some explanation of certain events that are missing or abbreviated. I don't know how much of that is on Nia DaCosta. Given its her first film of this scale, she does a fairly decent job. This is neither top tier, nor bottom tier Marvel. I do think its better than people are giving it credit for. Its like a 7-7.5/10 type movie. As in, its relatively forgettable, but it is enjoyable when you watch it.

Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 4 - Paradise.
This season introduced a brand new threat. Chrome.
No, not google chrome. That’s a post for another time. Chrome is a mysterious substance that slowly took over the island more and more. It was unstoppable. The season kicks off with a trailer showcasing 2 members of the seven being taken over by it. In this trailer, Paradigm is revealed to be Brie Larson! I’m a big fan of this theme of real life celebs turning out to be members of the seven.
The trailer is absolutely jaw dropping. Epic has put in work into the direction of these trailers, showing off as much new content as possible while still trying to make it look cool. This is one of my favourites. The use of Fjora’s Get Down, showing shots of familiar locations in ruin was clean. Entire locations of the island have been moved to airbases by no swear insurance in an attempt to evade the chrome. Locations are being taken over by the chrome. This isn’t the island we were vibing in a chapter ago. You land here and know something is wrong. They conveyed the sense of despair that the Herald brought to the island. So well done.
youtube
The battle pass around had many interesting skins. My favourites were two original characters and a collab character. Lennox Rose, an other celshaded anime skin. They did such a fantastic job with her design and look. Fortnite has come really far when it comes to cel shaded skins. Speaking of cel shaded skins, Spider-Gwen (spider verse) was included. They did such a good job of incorporating the movie’s style into Fortnite. I was impressed when I saw it for the first time. Also, when you use the emote that comes with her page, she moves in the same framerate as the movie does. The last skin is Bytes. I’ve talked about him enough, godDAMN is he cool. I don’t care what anyone else says.
Again, this season introduced the chrome. It’s a really cool gameplay mechanic that turns anything it touches into chrome, giving it new properties. Structures that are chromed can be phased through, and gain more health. Vehicles that are chromed have more health, regain health, and even restore popped tires after a while. There are also evochrome weapons. Assault rifles and shotguns that can evolve to a higher rarity when you deal damage with them. You can take the things to mythic, if you’re feeling yourself that day (might I add? The animation for this evolution is sick.). The craziest part is that this is an item that can be easily harvested and applied to anything and anyone. This made for interesting plays, changing the meta like no other. If that isn’t sick, I don’t know what is.
Unfortunately, I didn’t play too much of this season. I did play it a bunch though. With my friends. Splatoon 3 dropped around the time this season released. And you know how serious I am about Splatoon. I had to choose. I’m glad I got Bytes, though.

Thoughts On The Marvels (Spoilers)
I'll be honest that I never actually cared much for Captain Marvel. If I am being completely honest, I thought her introductory film was mediocre at best and only really existed to tie in with Infinity War due to the end credits scene of Nick Fury calling her up before disintegrating.
Her origin story was probably one of the most generic. It oddly felt out of place like it should have been a phase one movie. She works as a soldier fighting for the Kree Empire against the evil Skrulls who had killed her family and destroyed her planet and when news of the Skrull refugees hiding on Earth leads her there, she realizes everything she had believed were elaborate lies with the Skrulls being the good guys. Like I said, pretty generic and forgettable.
As for Captain Marvel herself... didn't like her. No offense to Brie Larson herself, but her character felt stale at best, insufferable at worst.
Now, for The Marvels, was actually not really looking forward to it since I barely remembered the events of the first film and I saw it with my Dad. Just the MCU lately has really declined in quality, with the only one that really had me feel anything being Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. But The Marvels, in my opinion, was... meh.
Sure, as always, the action sequences are good, maybe not so much when the titular Marvels switch points frequently after they touched the jump points that Dar-Benn causes. But as for the overall screenplay, it was a mess. I will say that the performances of the lead characters were passable for the most part, the energy is definitely there. However, much like the first film, The Marvels feels like a filler movie meant to promote the next installment than being a movie on its own merits.
The film also does a poor job at explaining its concepts such as the Quantum Bands that the main villain is after the second that Kamala possesses. Admittedly some of that comes from me not having Disney+ and not watching the show Kamala debuted in, but I think the film should have at least provided some explanation for any not familiar with the MCU shows.
It also does a poor explanation for why Captain Marvel did not return to Earth that being that when she returned to Hala, she destroyed the Supreme Intelligence and caused a civil war to wage on the planet as the sun decayed and the planet went to ruin. It does some disservice to Dar-Benn. Yeah, the MCU is known for having its weak villains aside from a few, but Dar-Benn was dealt a major card. Like the movie indicates she has some sympathetic leanings and is resentful of Captain Marvel and wants to avenge her planet. However, the film does nothing with this interesting development and instead presents her as being a hypocrite.
But, ultimately, this is just my opinion. If you liked the movie, I'm glad you were able to find something in the film I couldn't.

Watched episode 2 of lessons in chemistry:
I really didn't wanna see THAT happen to Elizabeth.. it happened so fast and seeing that man sexually assault her, was not fun to watch and mostly just disappointing to have to watch. It wasn't very explicit but i would've preferred it, if it was waaay less explicit! I think it was more powerful and impactful seeing the effect it had on her, her freaking when the door was closed and pressing her thumb over the pencil tip and i think even the minimal flashback in episode 1 would've been good to have on it's own!I'm just done with having to see women get sexually assaulted on tv!!
Elizabeth and Calvin are definitely adorable and sweet together! Calvin treating her like an equal and making compromises with the music and other things, it's nice to see, it's nice to see sweet and decent men especially in a story set in the 50's!
Also she looked hilarious while he was teaching her to swim lol like that does not look like Brie Larson!! (also making out under water is pique romance!!)
The gifts they gave eachother were so thoughtful and beautiful and it's such a great way to show us how well they, not only know eachother, but care about the others interests! Him cooking dinner for her, after practicing (probably multiple times) it's so sweet considering that it's probably been a while since some cooked for her! And her giving him a leash to take her job on his runs, his runs that people seem to always be confused about, is again very sweet, thoughtful and romantic!
Did women live alone in the 1950's?? Because i looked it up and didn't find a straightforward answer! It seems pretty liberal for the 50's. (also i looked up if women can live alone in my country now and the only answer i think exists, is yes but it doesn't happen alot and it's very looked down upon.. it's insane that i don't know if there's a law that prevents women from living alone in my own country!)
It's great how tv shows can have a scene that seems so normal but you just know somethings bad is gonna happen! Like i could feel something bad was about to happen to Calvin while he was running in the last scene of the episode! My tv rotted brain just knew lol..
Also something about that dog (fantastic name, 6:30!!), looks like it's a man in a dog suit.. adorable little doggy, but somehow feels fake..

First Take: The Marvels - two out of three ain't bad
Spoiler free as usual. Because Goose would eat me.
SYNOPSIS: Carol Danvers gets her powers entangled with those of Kamala Khan and Monica Rambeau, forcing them to work together to save the universe.
Ah, the sequel the internet wrote off when it was greenlit. The Marvels is one of the MCU projects which has suffered from Covid delays the most - July 2022 initially, then November, then February 2023, July, and finally settling here - as a direct knock on of all the TV shows on Disney+ (including the vital setup of this movie in Ms Marvel and WandaVision) being displaced due to Covid shutdowns. But even with no cast able to promote it until the early hours of its release day, The Marvels has some promise, but its execution does have some minor quibbles.
youtube
Nia DaCosta of 2021 Candyman reboot fame is in the big directors chair (And also co-writer with Megan McDonnell and Elissa Karasik) on her first major Hollywood, big budget film - and she does an admirable job turning in a rare Marvel film under two hours - a tight 1 hour 45 minutes - that is very up and down. Some elements excel, others feel like hasty rewrites, and some ideas feel a little out of place, those who have seen the film will likely know which sequences I am referring to. It is shot really well by Sean Bobbitt, as any MCU project would be at this stage (with the IMAX kit - something which must be a blessing with the film currently taking the screenings that should've been occupied with Dune 2 had the strike not happened) and of course, the Kamala character isn't the only thing making the leap from Disney+ to cinema screens, as Laura Karpman provides the music just like she did for the first season of What If and Ms Marvel.
Where this film is saved from the depths of another MCU rant is its cast, and it is obvious that Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris and Iman Vellani get along well, as the chemistry this trio have is damn good. On top of these leads we've got Zawe Ashton, Gary Lewis, Park Seo-joon joining in, with Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur and Saagar Shaikh returning from Ms Marvel, and of course, for the first time since Secret Invasion was torn apart, Samuel L Jackson is back in an MCU film as Nick Fury - along with a few MAJOR cameos throughout the film that *finally* set off future development into Phase 5 (and beyond). It might've been Marvel's worst opener to date, partly because of the strike and the internet's response to Larson - but for the first time in a while, I can see where this is going. Over to you Shawn Levy - bring us Deadpool 3 in a state that's worth the wait.
THE VERDICT
The Marvels is a perfectly fine - not a great - MCU film that gets the job done in under 2 hours. Had SAG/AFTRA not been on strike it would've fared better at the box office, but considering the impact this film - and particularly the last 10 minutes have - on the rest of the Multiverse Saga to come, off the back of Loki's season 2 finale it feels like Kevin Feige, once again, had a long term plan... but we just didn't know it yet.
RATING: 3.5/5

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (Week 1)
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World was released to a very small audience in 2010, mostly due to a marketing push that seemed to advertise directly to it's demographic, video games, anime and comics that the films aesthetic harkened from. The mainstream audience it desperately needed to be successful was left by the wayside. Simon Abrams for Slant Magazine said in 2010, "the sad thing about Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is that people assumed that because it embraced its niche-oriented demographic's interests, in its ad campaign and in its content, that it was destined for cult status and nothing more." Cult status it was destined for, and cult status it certainly has now. The film has aged remarkably well, with critics citing it as "one of the best films of 2010" and being considered a top tier Edgar Wright picture alongside "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz". It's easily his most "in your face" stylistically with its combo counters, slo-mo fights, video game sound effects and enemies turning into coins upon being defeated in single combat.
I know part of this essay is discussing how we remember things, but honestly nothing has really changed in my opinion over the years. Scott is still an idiot and the movie doesn't do as good of a job condemning his actions as the comic does. I love how every character is hyper specific to the point where every character is somebody's favorite one. Even if they lack depth, it's only because they're are so many and so little time. I love that the film is praised for it's outsized, macro moments but I also love it always has time for sight gags and allusions to character history throughout the many fights to further entrench you in the world. I love how this is a movies star flashpoint movie where many of it's stars are just on the cusp of becoming the signature movie stars we know today(I.E. Chris Evans, Brie Larson and Aubrey Plaza to name a few).
However, I do think that documentary and memory is vastly different. Memory, although the emotions attached to one could be more prevalent, is extremely fragile. It can age, change without warning, dilapidate in precision and exist outside of linear chronology. Documentary is far more precise, the images are linear, clear and cold in it's point of view. I think it's extremely important to do analysis like this though. Me and my relationship to Scott Pilgrim certainly isn't a good example but they're are certainly others. I mean we have all had different thoughts about different things as time goes by. Decisions we would've/could've/should've made and all that. This is great experiment, especially since nostalgia can be incredibly damaging. Especially in a time where mainstream movies are made to cater to our inner child and movies for adults have been largely phased out as it's not a guaranteed market for execs to invest in(2023 seeming to be a start out this cycle for movies at least). I think it's important to question everything, even ourselves.

I’ve been thinking about why Carol Danvers is one of my all time favorite characters in comics but she comes off as kinda boring in the MCU and I think I’ve figured it out.
In the comics, we see Carol grow from a spin-off side character into her own hero. When her character is first introduced, she is, essentially, a love interest/damsel in distress for the original Captain Marvel, Mar Vell. (Yes, that is his actual name). She gets her powers after Mar Vell’s showdown with Yon Rogg goes badly and a big machine called the “Psyche-Magnitron” blows up. In the explosion, Carol basically wishes she were strong enough to save those she loves, which grants her powers.
Let’s skip ahead a few decades. Mar Vell has been out of the picture for a while, and Carol is now a B-list superhero, going by the name of Ms. Marvel. She gets to hang out with the Avengers, and she sees all these super powerful people like Captain America and she knows she’s good but she thinks she’s not as good as the crazy powerful people around her.
Until House of M happens. I’m not gonna explain House of M, but basically Carol gets shown an alternate universe where she’s the number 1 superhero. And when everything’s sorted out and back to normal she realizes could be that hero if she wanted to.
So, she becomes that person, changes her name from Ms. Marvel to Captain Marvel, and that’s where she is today.
Anyway, the point is, when you’re reading about Carol’s journey in the comics, you get to see her grow from a (while admittedly awesome) normal person to an A-list superhero and it’s exciting and fun because it makes you, the audience member, feel like you could do that too! “Hey, Carol likes Star Wars and cats! I like Star Wars and cats! She became an amazing superhero by admitting how good she is, so maybe if I admit how good I am, I could be the best at my thing too??” Where as in the movies, we start at the end of her journey. And while we get to see some of her journey through flashbacks/glimpses in the Captain Marvel movie, we don’t get the full scoop. We don’t get to grow with her. We only ever know her as already being the best, which personally, I find less relatable.
I don’t know if any of this was coherent, but the TL;DR is comic Carol is fun because she’s treated like a person who grows and movie Carol is boring ‘cause she’s really good at everything and therefore not relatable.
#i dont usually make posts like this so sorry#carol danvers#ms marvel#captain marvel#mcu#it’s also because in rewriting her backstory they erased her ability to make star wars references#i want to be clear: i really really like the captain marvel movie#its a good movie#brie larson does a really good job#long post

Highways and Heart Eyes
A/N: hi it’s been a while...(?) unrelated but the brie larson thing that’s going around is stuck in my head because it’s like 60% of my fyp on tiktok rn. this is inspired/based on a story my mom told me last week lmao
A/N #2 (edit): so i’m an idiot and i forgot to give it a title but if anyone noticed that before i edited it, no you didn’t.
Pairing(s): Natasha Romanoff x Reader
Warning(s): none? my really bad attempts at writing flirting?
Steve can say with one-hundred percent certainty that I-95 is simultaneously one of the greatest and worst things built in his time in the ice. The potholes are concerning enough, add to it the barely-bright-enough street lights and the exhausted, largely untrustworthy drivers racing their way home at almost midnight?
He almost prefers fighting Nazis or the Chitauri.
The drive itself has been boring thus far, but he thinks it might be taking a weird turn when he finds a car sitting on the side of the highway, its driver leaning against the hood flailing their unoccupied arm around while the other holds something up to the side of their face.
Steve puts his blinker on, pulling his Stark-issued (as Tony loves to call it) car up to the parked vehicle.
“Everything alright?” he asks, wincing when the person flinches at his voice. “Sorry, didn’t mean to startle you.”
“I’m fine, just waiting for a friend,” the person answers automatically. They slide their phone into their pocket with a sigh, finally turning to Steve. “Oh my god, you’re Captain America.”
“Please, Steve is fine,” he answers with a soft laugh, trailing off in a silent question.
“Y/N,” they offer in return, their hands fidgeting.
“Nice to meet you, Y/N. Are you sure there’s nothing I can do to help?” he asks one more time; something tells him their earlier remark was a way to ward off creeps, not an actual response to his question.
Y/N looks at the passing traffic for a moment, their eyes squinting in contemplation. “Yeah, actually,” they say through a sigh. “My car’s out of gas and my phone just died…”
“Ah, I see. Let me call a friend of mine and we’ll have you back on the road in no time,” he offers with a smile, already slipping his phone out of his own pocket.
“Thanks, Captain,” they say with a mischievous smile as Steve laughs again.
“Steve,” he jokingly reprimands as he dials the first name he sees on speed dial. “Hey, Nat, I need a favor…”
•••
Steven Grant Rogers is an idiot. A brilliant soldier, a great man, an amazing friend, a fantastic leader (usually), but he is still an idiot out of work and off the field.
He called Natasha at eleven-forty-three at night to ask her to drive all the way to the outskirts of Cecil County, Maryland from New York City, just so she could sit with a complete stranger while he drives to the nearest gas station (it’s forty minutes away, because of course there’s major traffic tonight). If she’d known he just needed to refill someone’s tank, she would’ve stopped and gotten it on the way over.
Though, the person in not-so-perilous peril is pretty cute.
“I’m so sorry,” you ramble for the millionth time. Natasha just smiles and waves you off.
“It’s fine, I promise.” She means it, just as much as the first time she said it. It’s the thirty-seventh, not that she’s counting.
“Yeah, but, you’re an Avenger and like- you probably need as much sleep as you can get and now you’re wasting your night basically babysitting me and-”
“Hey, hey, breathe. I promise this isn’t a waste of my time. It’s not every day I get to spend time with a beautiful person,” Natasha interrupts. Honestly, how you manage to say so much in so little time is baffling.
You look down, and she can just barely make out the small smile on your face. You don’t say anything after that, and Natasha finds your suddenly-flustered state adorable.
“So,” she says. Why not start a conversation? Best way to figure out if you’re secretly a threat or not, it is her job after all. Not because in the fifteen minutes she’s known you, you’ve given her a sense of peace she’s never experienced before, she tells herself. “What were you doing out so late?”
“Oh, I was visiting a friend for the weekend, I’m on my way back to New York now,” you answer. It’s interesting how easily you’ve let your guard down around her.
Natasha hums, nodding her head as you continue to ramble about your trip. She finds herself smiling the more you talk, and eventually she asks you how you and your friend met.
“We met at NYU, she was my girlfriend’s roommate our first two years. Then we broke up and she became my roommate.”
Natasha’s eyebrow raises at the first ‘girlfriend,’ but she frowns when your smile falters. “I’m sorry.”
“Oh, no, it’s fine. It was what, four years ago?” you answer, your smile already back. “I think she’s on the west coast now, probably living out her dream as some old, rich, white guy’s newest plaything.”
Natasha can’t help but laugh, you sound so optimistic and innocent and yet the insult is anything but.
“And what about you? Living out your dream in the Big Apple?” Natasha asks.
You sigh almost dreamily, “Yeah, I work at a boxing club for kids in Queens. We teach them self-defense and give them a place to stay if they need it. Spider-Man actually stopped by a few weeks ago, said he was ‘in the neighborhood.’”
“That’s amazing,” Natasha says honestly.
“It was, he let some of the older kids try out his web shooters.” The redhead holds back a laugh at your obliviousness.
“I meant your job,” she corrects gently.
“Oh,” you laugh. “Yeah, I’m just trying to do my part to help people,” you reply softly. “I didn’t have a lot growing up, and my parents were never really around. I don’t want what happened to me to happen to them, too.”
“You are… something else, Y/N…” she trails off, hoping you catch on.
“Y/L/N,” you supply.
“It’s nice to meet you, Y/N Y/L/N.”
“You too, Natasha Romanoff.” The two of you laugh as Steve’s car finally approaches.
•••
Three days go by and you can’t get your conversation with the Black Widow out of your head. Looking back, you realize she was definitely flirting with you, and you were just too exhausted and oblivious to notice. It’s embarrassing to say the least, but you doubt she even remembers. It was probably just her way of filling the silence.
You internally sigh, refocusing on your surroundings.
“Jab,” you instruct, holding your target pads-clad hands up. Henry, one of the newer kids at the gym, throws his left arm forward, his feet sliding as his glove makes contact with yours. “Stand your ground, plant both feet down firmly.”
The kid corrects his stance, smiling when you nod your head in approval.
“Jab, again.” He hits the target, and you smile again when he doesn’t slip. “Nice job, buddy. Take five. And get some water!” you yell after him as he runs to the bench.
You take your gloves off as the front door’s bells chime, turning to greet the guest. “Hey, welcome, I’ll be right… with you…” you trail off as you make eye contact with a certain redhead.
“You wouldn’t happen to know a Y/N Y/L/N, would you?” she asks playfully. She leans on the front counter as you jog your way over.
“Maybe, anything they might be able to help you with?”
Natasha watches as a kid walks up to you, asking for help with her boxing wraps. “Well,” she watches the way you simultaneously help the little girl and watch Natasha with ease. “I was told there’s this awesome place that helps kids learn how to fight, and I thought I’d stop by and show ‘em how an Avenger does it. Plus, I heard Spider-Man was here once, and I think having the Black Widow come by would be a much cooler story to tell.”
You laugh, ruffling the kid’s hair before whispering to her that she’s good before turning back to the Avenger. “I- Thank you,” you say softly. “You didn’t have to do tha-”
“No, but I wanted to. Plus, I was wondering if you wanted to get coffee after your shift?” she says as you lead her towards a locker in the back.
“You can put your stuff in here, they’re employee lockers, so no one’ll mess with them,” you tell her when she glances around the room. “And yeah, I’d like that.”
Natasha beams, and it’s immediately ingrained into your mind forever. Maybe getting stuck on a busy highway wasn’t too bad after all.

Little Coworker (Request)
MCU cast members x gn!child!co-star!reader
Genre: fluff
Request Description: Please may you do a headcanon where the readers a new actress in the mcu movies and plays as Bucky’s daughter and when the director’s introduce her Chris E, Chris P, Sebastian S, Tom Hidd & Robert D are super proud because she’s worked on numerous movies with them before and they’re super protective of her. (About age 8) and the other cast members are super surprised of how talented she is but she’s also super shy and modest please? 😊
Warnings: language
(A/N): im doing another request babyyyyy, i really wanna narrow down the amount of requests i have D;
Right, so
You always knew you wanted to be an actor
And your parents were somehow super supportive right out of the gate
So you’d been in several movies before
And then you were cast as part of the Avengers: Endgame cast as Tony Stark’s child
(shhhhh lets just pretend here)
The directors brought you onto set one day to introduce you
and you were ecstatic!
because you immediately recognized Chris
The goofy one
Pratt!
You had been in a movie together very recently
And the moment he saw you he was like
“holy mother of jesus!”
“y/n!”
And guess what you hugged
And then you rode on his shoulders (very fun)
As you were soaring through the sky atop Chris Pratt’s shoulders you run into Robert and Chris (the other one, Evans)
And they both gasped
Then looked at each other bc
“why are YOU gasping?”
And there was a moment of epiphany as it dawned on them that they had ALL been in movies with you before
Chris Evans was mad because HE wanted to be the one giving you a shoulder ride
because you laugh and he thinks your laugh is very cute and its by far the number one thing he misses from filming with you
Robert and Chris P immediately falls into conversation about how you’re so talented considering your age
and then, from across the room
you see Tom Hiddleston
and he doesn’t gasp but rather gives you a look, a look that makes you giggle
now, he had been in a movie with you and sebastian when you were six
so he calls sebastian over (from where he and anthony mackie were undoubtedly doing something they were not allowed to)
and sebastian sees you and hes like “oh!”
and then theres another moment of realization when they come over and start talking to you
and all the actors are like “wtf how does this kid have more jobs than me?”
anyway whenever you are on set, you are never walking
always on someones shoulders
YOU AND TOM HAVE TEA TOGETHER IN THE BREAK ROOM
AND HE TEACHES YOU TO STICK YOUR PINKY OUT LIKE A “PROPER LADY”
ugh we stan tom and you having tea parties every day
Tom thinks it’s so funny that you talk about the news
“I heard it’s gonna be raining this friday.. How disappointing” - you, an eight year old
sebastian immediately loops you into him and anthony’s shit
and you’re always the one opposing
“we can’t do that, that’s against the rules!”
but you always end up doing it because they promise you candy
your parents are not pleased
but anyway you get a lot of candy
this is gonna sound weird but Chris E and RDJ really love watching you try to read the signs on set when you think you’re alone
because there are a lot of big words
you’re just looking up at these random signs going
“r- r- re- restrict- restricted area”
i mean COME ON
you’re ADORABLE
and chris is the one introducing you to everyone
which makes you very shy
but everyone
and i mean EVERYONE
is impressed with your acting skills
Scarlett, Elizabeth and Danai are always complimenting you when you’re done with a scene
“that was so good!”
so you warm up to them fairly quickly
you can tell that the guys you’ve worked with have told others how impressed they are with you
because people like mark ruffalo, benedict cumberbatch, brie larson and chadwick boseman are coming up to you and going like
“i heard you’re really good!”
to which you shyly nod, because
bitch please, you know you’re great
but you gotta stay humble
which, in truth, is hard when everyone around you loves you so much
you can hardly walk from one end of set to the other without someone picking you up, spinning you around and yelling “wee!” and then putting you down again
which you’ve just come to accept
but its bc it truly is so refreshing and uplifting to have such a young, talented and sweet actor on set
and they just wanna let you know how much they appreciate you
and are proud of you
because they are
so proud of their little coworker :D

Hi, may I ask you something?
I don't know if you are reading about kdrama actors too as well as you do for kpop idols. But I really want to ask this.
Park Seojoon seems to be every girls' dream boyfriend. But this statement he made in 2014, which literally contains misogyny, is a complete fiasco.
He said, "I grew up in a family like that so I also think my kids should be raised by their mother. I heard the one's childhood forever shapes the person's perspective on life. It seems unloved childhood leads to problematic adult life. Either he won't have good social skills, or he could end up being a felon to be extreme. I will be their good fatherly figure, but the children need their mom. It could be wrong but to me, this is an answer now."
He also said he won't change his thoughts on his ideal future spouse that she should leave her job to take care of her family.
He then replied to the question asking what features are attractive to him, "I find women who bring about my protective instinct attractive. I feel like if they are tall, they are going to be fine living alone. I like women who keep me worried. And skinny women tend to be like that."
Soon he will be cast in a Marvel movie with Brie Larson, one of the most feminist and activist women in the entire entertainment industry. Brie Larson is the exact opposite of the woman he dreamed of.
Can I ask you if he's changed his mind? Or is he still a caveman?
By the way, I may not have the right to comment, but I want to say. It's okay for a person to love someone younger than himself in appearance. But insisting on a woman whose height does not even reach his shoulders in order to appear more masculine and strong is an indication of an inferiority complex to me. Moreover, now women should exist in all parts of our lives. It is the right of every woman to work, earn her own money and take care of herself. I'm not going to be able to swallow this conversation.
+ it makes me furious that "feminist" fans take a break for defence him. Unbelivable!!
-Thank you!!
Hi, sorry but im not doing readings regarding that theme and racism, because it would be irresponsible of me to confirm or deny something we can't have confirmation of at the moment. I believe that sooner or later you will see how is a person, and if he is partaking in that marvel movie, something might come up in interviews
I understand and agree that his view is just a no, but Korean society (and +others) is still deeply rooted in the misogynist mindset, men and women too. And I completely agree that a lot of fans tend to defend public people because they put them on a pedestal, and for them, they do not wrong, their standard for them is so high that when their faves do something that is not part of their belief they turn on the blind eye
I talk about it with another anon, but there is a lot of misconception regarding feminism, how the radical movements and the hembrism concept just mixed together. All that + the inner misogynist mindset a lot of people, especially women have, creates a lot of problems and is a stone in the path
These themes are difficult because of culture and your own set of beliefs, which may differ from person to person, what you consider is correct or wrong may not be the same for others. So for me, it really is irresponsible to give a response to that, with the information that is public is up to every fan to choose if they want to support or not someone. Sorry if this is not what you wanted to hear, i understand your point, but as a reader, I need to be responsible for what I put out

Yo! What are your opinions on MCU!Steve and MCU!Carol D as characters?
oh no you’re gonna get me cancelled on tumblr too 🤭
mcu!Steve:
okay so in really simple terms: my opinion on MCU!Steve is that I like the barebones of the character, i like what Steve is supposed to stand for, i like the idea of him looking out for the little guy, i like the idea that he sticks to his principles and what he believes is right, but i don’t like how he’s been developed. i say this a lot but i feel like in basically every single film post TFA - we see Captain America and not Steve Rogers, and it’s really annoying because Captain America can do no wrong(TM) and therefore - the character never faces any consequences for his actions. like literally none. the narrative bends backwards trying to justify Steve’s actions, and it leads to conflicting development, and in some cases - no development at all.
like in TFA, we see Steve defy his superiors and push boundaries and follow what he thinks is right in favour of just following orders, so then why in Avengers 1 and TWS does his arc primarily include him defying authority?? That’s not a growth that Steve needs because we already knew that about Steve. And this spills into CW too, because the idea that Steve goes against the Accords because of the events of TWS makes no sense because that growth means nothing for Steve. Instead, if Steve had actually felt the ramifications of what he and Natasha did - i.e putting an entire covert organisations on blast and likely caused the deaths of good SHIELD agents undercover by burning them - then maybe he would’ve actually understood where Tony was coming. But all of Steve’s actions are treated as good and right and just, because he’s Captain America(TM) (instead of Steve), and it just leads to an extremely frustrating character that’s very hard to like.
i really like the idea of mcu!Steve, but not the execution.
mcu!Carol Danvers:
honestly, i really like Carol’s character. i think she has a lot of potential, i have my own personal issues w Brie Larson but she did a pretty good job bringing Carol to life. in terms of Captain Marvel, my only complaint as such is that I feel like sometimes, again, Carol was Captain Marvel instead of Carol. I would’ve liked to see a bit more development of Carol, but also it was the first film and there’s probably going to be stuff in the sequels.
THAT BEING SAID i have major beef with how Carol was dealt with in Endgame. Obviously I know that Carol was only introduced to compete with Diana, but her origin story (absorbing the power of the Tesseract) sets her up perfectly as someone who could’ve had a much bigger role and could’ve even been the one to use the gauntlet (instead of Tony, I am forever mad that Tony died the way he did) and could’ve just lessened the weight on the rest of the Avengers. if done correctly, Carol could’ve been seamlessly integrated in Endgame and positioned in a way that made her being introduced just before Endgame being a strategic decision rather than what it actually was: m*rvel just tryna pretend they’re woke. like they had a chance to fix that with Endgame. but they didn’t. and im super mad about that
anyway!! those are my opinions of these characters!!

Herstory of Dance.
You're probably wondering how I got here. Well, I put the total number of Community episodes into a random number generator and hit go.
So we begin - in the midst of Season 4, with Herstory of Dance, the all time least watched episode of the show when it was on TV, which does feel fitting in a way. In the midst of the notorious gas leak year, Abed finds an opportunity to do the most classic of classic sitcom plots - agreeing to two dates on one night and trying to keep them both going. Right after in the opening scene he declares that he’s trying to move away from Filtering Life through TV, he finds himself in a wacky situation so goes with it. I don’t know, feels like circular plotting, but the end result is easily the best part of the episode. Abed runs that caper straight into more classic tropes (the girl he really liked was under his nose the whole time - the big rom com gesture) and it would all feel very Season 1 Abed were it not for his very real chemistry with Brie Larson's Rachel. Brie is so charming and fun here, I think an alternate universe where she recurred way more frequently would be a great one, with a better Season 5 ... but then I've always been more into the soapy relationship stuff than some people who love and/or made the show. Also, proof that Brie Larson should be in more comedies, imho. Kat presents a good example of a Season 4 problem though - the level of cartoonishness the show operates on suddenly fluctuates hard enough for her, a grown adult, even a very quirky one, to be so distracted by Some Bubbles that she runs around in a circle while Abed slips away.
Our A plot (citation needed) on the other hand feels very Season 4. Our now thoroughly dumbed down Britta (it's possible this blog will end up primarily being about how the entire show lets down Britta over and over and over, maybe) backs into a mistake and runs a Sophie B Hawkins dance on the night of a Sadie Hawkins dance and Sophie B Herself shows up just in time through the magic of rich people knowing each other. A character pointing out that Jeff is too mean to Britta is good if a little weird when the show itself is mean to Britta. That character being Pierce makes close to zero sense - it would honestly hold together better if he did it more just to fuck with Jeff. Either way, it's all basically fine - the Abed stuff is a lot more compelling to me. An episode that truly reckoned with how the group bullies the dumbed-down cartoon Britta that we're stuck with from S2-ish onwards would be interesting and worthwhile but this doesn't feel like that. This doesn't feel like much of anything except one of the many many examples of Gillian Jacbos applying her substantial comic acting chops to really bad material. All those people who didn't watch it weren't missing much.
Notes:
- Jeff saying “Britta for the whoops!” feels out of character, but seconds later his line read on “Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover” is oddly satisfying
- Oh right, we’re also in the midst of The Kevin/Changnesia Nightmare. Awful!
- I think I followed Kat on here in 2009. Call me, although not if you’re still rhyming and launching into a cockney accent in normal conversations
- Danny Pudi is a good looking man but that hat and shirt are a fucking nightmare
- I am an absolute sucker for a Job joke. Everything in the cloakroom scenes with Rachel is great! “Well I think the dog is trained”.
- Fair play to Chevy Chase, his line read on “Has this been confirmed?” is wonderful
- Troy’s role in this episode seems to be “Troy isn’t really in this episode, haha!”, maybe Donald had to shoot a music video that week, but he does put in some solid physical comedy work when he stumbles across the background of a shot carrying a tower of cups
- “What is the nature of hope?” + Britta’s face when Sophie turns up <3
- Big fan of a text from across the room, on TV and in real life.
- Here’s a weird thing - it feels like SBH permeated pop culture in the US much more than in the UK (I think I encountered one of her songs on a covermount CD my mom got from a women’s magazine in the mid 90s and then I didn’t think about or hear of Sophie B again until Black Kids covered DIWIWYL as a b-side and sure, the second part of that sentence tells you more about me in the 00s than anything else, but still) and when this episode was first out nobody else I watched it with knew who she was - but weirdly, she has 4 Billboard Top 100 hits (2 in the top 10) to her 6 UK Top 100 hits (none in the top 10, but 4 in the top 40). In conclusion, the 90s were a weird time for pop culture and the music industry.
- And we’re off.

The Road To “Godzilla VS. Kong”, Day Four
(Sorry for the delay on this one, Life proved just a bit too busy the other day to finish it; my “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” review is gonna be pushed back as a result too. But! No worries, on we go. ^_^)
KONG: SKULL ISLAND (2017
Director: Jordan Vogt-Roberts
Writers: Dan Gilroy, Max Borenstein, Derek Connolly, John Gatins
Starring: Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, John Goodman, John C. Reilly
youtube
Technically speaking, Gareth Edwards’ “Godzila” from 2014 was the first entry in what is now generally referred to as “The Monsterverse”, an attempt by Warner Bros. Studios and Legendary Pictures to do a Marvel Studios-style series of various interconnected movies (and which, like most such attempts to cash in on that particular trend, hasn’t really panned out; “Godzilla VS. Kong” seems likely to be its grand finale as far as movies are concerned, the only two “names” it had going for it are Godzilla and Kong themselves, and even at its most successful it was never exactly a Powerhouse Franchise). But the thing is, when that movie was made, the idea of a “Monsterverse” did not yet exist; it was only well after the fact that Legendary and Warner Bros. got the idea to turn a new “Kong” project into the building block of a Shared Universe of their own that they could connect with the 2014 “Godzilla”, with a clear eye on getting to remake one of the most singularly iconic (and profitable) Giant Monster Movies of all time. As you might guess from that description, however, said “Kong” project also had not originally been intended for such a purpose; it would not be until 2016 that it would be retooled from its original purpose (a prequel to the original “King Kong” titled simply “Skull Island”) into its present form, which goes out of its way to reference Monarch, the monster-tracking Science organization seen over in 2014’s “Godzilla” and which includes a very obviously Marvel-inspired post-credits stinger explicitly tying Kong and Godzilla’s existences together.
The resulting film is fun enough, all things told, but that graft is also really, distractingly obvious.
Honestly, I wish I knew why I’m not, generally, fonder of “Skull Island” than I am. It’s not as if, taken as a whole, it does anything especially bad; indeed it does a great deal that is actively good. Consider, for example, the rather unique choice to make it a Period Piece; that’s decently rare for a Monster Movie as it is (indeed one of the only other examples that springs to mind for me is Peter Jackson’s 2005 remake of “King Kong”, which chose to retain the original’s 1933 setting), and it’s rarer still that the era it chooses to inhabit is an immediately-post-Vietnam 1970’s. Aesthetically speaking, the movie takes a decent amount of fairly-obvious influence from that most classic of Vietnam-era films, “Apocalypse Now” (a fact that director Jordan Vogt-Roberts was always fairly open about), and it results in some of the movie’s strongest overall imagery (in particular a shot of Kong, cast in stark silhouette, standing against the burning sun on the horizon with a fleet of helicopters approaching him, one of a surprisingly small number of times the movie plays with visual scale to quite the same degree or with quite the same success as “Godzilla” 2014). It also means the movie is decked out in warm, lush colors that really do bring out all the personality of its Jungle setting in the most compelling way and, given how important the setting is to the film as a whole, that proves key; Skull Island maybe doesn’t become a character in its own right the way the best settings should (too much of our time is spent in fairly indistinct forests especially), but it does manage to feel exciting and unusual in the right ways more often than not. The “Apocalypse Now” influence also extends to our human cast, which is sizeable enough here (in terms of major characters we need to pay attention to played by notable actors, “Skull Island” dwarfs “Godzilla” 2014 by a significant margin) that the framework it provides-a mismatched group defined by various interpersonal/intergenerational tensions trying to make their way through an inhospitable wilderness, ostensibly in search of a lost comrade-is decently necessary. Though here we already run into one of those aspects of “Skull Island” that doesn’t quite land for me. Taken as a whole, it sure feels like the human characters here should be decently interesting; certainly, our leads are all much better defined and more engagingly performed than Ford Brody, to draw the most immediately obvious point of comparison. Brie Larson (as journalistic Anti-War photographer Mason Weaver), Tom Hiddleston (as former British Army officer turned Gun For Hire James Conrad), and John C. Reilly (as Hank Marlow, a World War II soldier stranded on Skull Island years ago) definitely turn in decently strong performances; I wouldn’t call it Career Best work for any of them (Hiddleston especially feels like he’s on auto-pilot half the time, while Larson has to struggle mightily against how little the script actually gives her to work with when you stop and look at it) but they at least prove decently enjoyable to watch (Reilly especially does a solid job of making his character funny without quite pushing him over the edge into Total Cartoon Territory). I likewise feel like Samuel L. Jackson’s Preston Packard has the potential to be a genuinely-great character; his lingering resentment at the way the Vietnam War played out and the way that feeds into his determination to find and defeat Kong is, again, a clever and compelling use of the 70’s period setting, it gives us a good, believable motivation with a clear and strong Arc to it, and Jackson does a really solid job of playing his Anger as genuine and poignant rather than simply petulant or crazed. But there’s just too much chaff amongst the wheat, too much time and energy devoted to characters and ideas that don’t have any real pay-off. This feels especially true of John Goodman’s Bill Randa, the Monarch scientist who arranges the whole expedition; the Monarch stuff in general mostly feels out of place, but Randa in particular gets all of these little notes and beats that seem meant to go somewhere and then just kind of don’t. Which is kind of what happens with most of the characters in the movie, is the thing; we spend a lot of screen-time dwelling on certain aspects of their backstories or personalities, and then those things effectively stop mattering at all after a certain point, even Packard’s motivations. A Weak Human Element was one of the problems in “Godzilla” 2014 as well, though, and you’ll recall I quite liked that movie. There, though, the human stuff was honestly only ever important for how it fed into the monster stuff; it was the connective tissue meant to get us from sequence to sequence and not much more. Here, though, it forms the heart and soul of the story, and that means its deficiencies feel a lot more harmful to the whole.
Still, those deficiencies really aren’t that severe, and moreover, like I was saying before, there’s a lot about “Skull Island” to actively enjoy. The Monsters themselves do remain the central draw, after all, and for the most part the movie does a solid job with that aspect of things. It does not, perhaps, recreate “Godzilla” 2014’s attempt to make believable animals out of them (even as it does design most of them with even more obvious, overt Real World Animal elements), but there is a certain playful energy that informs them at a conceptual level that I appreciate. Buffalos with horns that look like giant logs with huge strands of moss and grass hanging off their edges, spiders whose legs are adapted to look like tree trunks, stick bugs so big that their camouflage makes them look like fallen trees…the designs feel physically plausible (especially thanks to some strong effects work that makes them feel well inserted into the real environments), but there’s a slightly-humorous tilt to a lot of them that I appreciate, especially since it never outright winks at the audience in a way that would undercut the stakes of the story. Kong too is very well done; rather than the heavily realistic approach taken by the Peter Jackson version from 2005, this Kong is instead very much ape-like but also very clearly his own creature (in particular he stands fully erect most of the time), with a strong sense of Personality to him as well; some of the best parts of the movie are those times where we simply peek in on Kong simply living his life, even when that life is one that is, by nature, violent and dangerous. Less successful, sadly, are his nemeses, the Skullcrawlers; very much like “Godzilla” 2014, Kong is here envisioned as a Natural Protection against a potentially-dangerous species that threatens humanity (or in this case the Iwi Tribe who live on Skull Island, but we’ll talk more about them later), and while they’re hardly bad designs (the way their snake-like lower bodies give them a lot of neat tricks to play against their enemies in battle are genuinely fun in the right sort of Scary Way), they’re also pretty bland and forgettable, even compared to the MUTOS. That said, they serve their purpose well enough, and their big Action Scene showdowns with Kong are genuinely solid. Indeed, the movie’s big climactic brawl between Kong and the biggest of the Skullcrawlers has a lot of good pulpy energy to it (particularly with how Kong winds up using various tools picked up from all around the battlefield to give himself an edge), likewise there’s a certain Wild Fun to the sequence where our hapless humans have to try and survive a trek through the Crawlers’ home-turf.
Where things get a bit tricky again is when the movie attempts to put its own spin on “Godzilla”’s conception of its monsters as part of their own kind of unique ancient eco-system. The sense of Grandeur that gave a lot of that aspect such weight there is mostly absent here, especially; there are instances where some of that feeling comes through (Kong’s interactions with some of the non-Crawler species, for example, do a good job giving us an endearing sense of how Kong fits into this world), but far more often it treats the monsters as Big Set-Piece Attractions. Which is fine as far as it goes, it just also means a lot of them aren’t as memorable or impactful as I might like. Meanwhile, the way the Iwis have built their home to accommodate, interact with, and protect themselves from the island’s bestiary feels like a well-designed concept that manages to suggest a lot of History without having to spell it out for us in a way that I appreciated (I would also be inclined to apply this to the very neat multi-layered stone-art used to portray Kong and the Crawlers except that the sequence where we see them is the most overt “let’s stop and do some world-building” exposition dump in the whole movie). But the Iwis in general are one of the more difficult elements of the movie to process, too; it seems really clear there was a deliberate effort here to avoid the most grossly racist stuff that has been present in prior attempts to portray the Natives of Skull Island, and as far as it goes I do think those efforts bear some fruit; we are, at the very least, very far away from the Scary Ooga-Booga tone of, say, “King Kong VS. Godzilla”, and that feels like it counts for something. I just also feel like there’s some dehumanizing touches to their portrayal (in particular they never speak; I don’t mean to imply that Not Speaking equals Inhuman, but the fact that we are not made privy to how exactly they do communicate means we’re very much kept at arm’s length from them in a way that seems at least somewhat meant to alienate us from them), especially given their role in the story as a whole is relatively minor.
At the end of the day, though, all the movie’s elements, good and bad, don’t really feel like they add up together coherently enough to make an impact. And I think if I had to try and guess why, even as I find it wholly enjoyable with a lot to genuinely recommend it by, I don’t find myself especially enamored by “Skull Island”. It has a lot of different ideas of how to approach its story-70’s pastiche, worldbuilding exercise, Monster Mash-but doesn’t seem to quite succeed at realizing any of them fully, indeed often allowing them to get in each other’s ways. It isn’t, again, a bad movie as a result of that; there really isn’t any stretch of it where I found myself bored or particularly unentertained. But I did paradoxically find myself frequently wanting more, even as by rights the movie delivers on basically what I was looking for from it.

Celebrity
Pairing: Tom Holland x Reader
Warnings: swearing?? Flufff
Summary: You and Tom just so happen to each other’s celebrity crushes 🥰
"Y/N, Y/N!" The photographers called out as you walked along the red carpet. You loved your job but the photographers and paparazzi were endlessly annoying. It was your third VMA's. You'd been a very successful singer for a while now, but this year you'd done your first big movie. You'd gotten nominated for 4 awards. You gave one last smile before walking into the building. Your manager walking to your side immediately.
"You're performing at 10:15 so enjoy the show while you can- I'll come get you around 9:30. You're sitting in the front row. We wanted to push the fact that you're focusing on acting right now so we sat you next to other actors." He glanced at his phone, "Brie Larson on your left and - Tom Holland on your right." You tried to hold in your excitement at the names he said. You were a huge fan of Marvel movies, so to sit next to Captain Marvel and Spiderman?! You were ecstatic. "Thank you Donovan" you spoke, kissing him on the cheek before walking off to mingle.
You snuck behind your friend Shawn Mendes when you saw him slapping up Drake. "Omg my two favorite Canadians!" You joked, hugging Shawn and then Drake. "Y/N, you look incredible" Shawn spoke, gripping your waist and taking in your appearance. "Like a snack" Drake added, snatching you from Shawn and twirling you around. "Thank you guys! And a snack?! Y'all look like full course meals and dessert" They both laughed at your comment. "So what's the moves for tonight mamacita?" Drake asked and you smirked, "You already know, everyone back at my place for the after party" you exclaimed, already excited. "Aye!" They both cheered in unison. It was very well known you threw the best parties in Hollywood as of late. "Text me and let me know if you need anything love" Shawn hugged you again, and told him you would before walking to your seat.
You felt eyes on your back, but when you turned around there was no one there.
Little did you know your seat neighbor Tom Holland had watched your whole interaction. He was chatting with Jake Gyllenhaal, Jacob and his brother Harry when he saw you. "Holy shit, that's Y/N" Jacob whispered, pointing over at you. "Every song she makes is an absolute banger! Tom go introduce us" Harry joined in. "No fucking way she's literally talking to Drake, I can't go over there" Toms heart ached watching you giggle with the two men. He'd literally never spoken to you, but he'd developed quite the crush on you. He watched all your interviews, and loved your music. You made him feel like he was in elementary school again. "Just go!" Jake exclaimed, shoving him in your direction.
Tom stumbled before catching his stride and following behind you. He didn't know if he should jog to catch up with you, or do an awkward speed walk, so he just kept his normal pace. He mentally kicked himself when he didn't make it to you before you got to your seat. He tried to causally walk past you as you sat down, but did a double take and tripped over his own feet when he saw his face on the chair beside you. Tom literally wished the floor would swallow him up so he could disappear forever when he hit the ground in front of you.
"Oh my god! Are you okay?" You ask the man laying at your feet, and you could hardly contain your excitement when you realized it was none other than Tom fucking Holland. "Yeah, yeah. I'm fine" he insisted, pushing himself up with the help of your extended arm. Once he's off the ground and in his chair you introduce yourself. "Hey, I'm Y/N" you beam at him, turning your body to face him. "I know who you are, I think everyone does" he laughs, reaching out his hand for you to shake. You ignore his cue, pulling him in for a hug. "You smell really nice" he murmurs and it was your turn to laugh. "Thank you; it's so nice to meet you!" You tell him and he shakes his head. "Me?! It's nice to meet you! I'm a huge fan" he expresses and your heart races, he's a fan?
The next twenty minutes turn into a compliment competition; the two of you just spewing nice things to each other and laughing. You even joke through the start of the show, Brie shushing the two of you which only makes you laugh harder. "What are you doing tonight?" You ask him while a presenter was rambling on about something. "Nothing, why?" He quips back and he can feel himself start to sweat, were you going to ask him out?
"and the winner of the best collaboration award.....Y/N and Drake for Rewind!"
You were caught completely off guard, you and Tom both look at each other in shock. "That's you, get up there!" He exclaims, a wide smile on his face. He stands with you and walks you to the stage, he hands you off to Drake at the steps and you thank him. You reach the microphone and stand in front of the huge crowd, Drake next to you and begin to talk. "Wow, um, I really wasn't expecting this-" you cringe in your head, everyone says that- "but thank you all so much! We truly have the best fans in the world. Your support is unmatched and I love you all so much!" You cheer raising up your moon man and stepping aside to let Drake talk. You weren't even really listening to what he was saying, all you could focus on was Tom standing there staring at you with a face full of admiration. You didn't want to be corny but you were positive you were in love with him. And he looked really good. Like you wanted to tie him up keep him all to yourself good.
Next thing you know your being escorted off the stage and you hug your manager backstage. "Congratulations" he tells you and thank him, before turning to make your way back to your seat. "Girl where are you going? It's 9:26, you need to start getting ready" you sigh, you loved performing but you wanted to go back with Tom. You scroll through your Instagram while getting your hair done and see Brie Larsons story, you click on it. You smile at the selfie the two of you took. What you weren't expecting though was to see a video of you and Tom laughing together with the caption "get a room🤣🥴". You immediately go to your own profile and begin to go through your tagged pictures. A lot of you in your dress on the red carpet, screen caps of you and drake accepting the award and then boom; you and Tom. You click on reposts and screenshots of the video and read some of the captions.
'Yessss Y/N get that superhero dick!'
'Omg they look so good together- we have no choice but to stan'
'Ew bye he better stay away from the queen'
'and I oop-'
'Tom shooting his shot 👀'
'Thank you Brie Larson this is the content we deserve'
“She always fuck with white boys smh”
And so it begins you you think to yourself. You realize you never even followed Tom, on your real account at least. Only your account you use to lurk, so you press the button the blue button. Tom doesn't leave your mind the rest of the time you spend getting ready. You don't think about anything besides Tom until the time you start performing. And even then, you can't help but look for him in the crowd.
Your performance goes almost perfectly, you have the best adrenaline rush afterwards. But once again you're sat back in the hair and makeup chair. You're not gonna lie you probably needed it after how much you were sweating on stage. They bring out your dress, but it's a different one. A short backless white dress, much different from your earlier gown. "Donovan what is this?" You ask your manager. "Your dress for the party. We have to go make sure everything is all set- and yes I know you wanna go see your little boo thing Tom but we don't have time!" He replies, motioning for you to put on the dress. You groan and slip it on before following him out to the car waiting outside.
You get back to your house, doing a quick walk through to make sure everything is in place. Taste testing the food and liquor. You knew tonight was going to be crazy. Everyone would be amped up from the awards and live performances, you were starting to get excited. You were proud of your party throwing skills- until you realized you never got the chance to invite Tom. "Shit!" You shout, actually face palming. You pull out your phone and try to figure out the best way to get a hold of him. You text Zendaya- she would definitely have his number. Seven minutes go by with no response, the party starts in less than an hour. "Fuck it.." you mutter, opening Instagram and typing out a DM to Tom,
'Hey Tom, I'm throwing a party tonight and I would love for you to come. You can bring whoever you want. Hope to see you there!'
So basic, but it'd have to do. You didn't wanna look too thirsty or something. You sent the address in a separate message. You didn't even notice your leg bouncing up on down in anticipation, waiting for him to respond. You were pulled from your thoughts by the sound of your door opening and closing, then voices. It was Shawn, Drake and some of their friends. "Hey guys" you chirp and they come over to greet you. "Do either of you guys know Tom Holland?" You ask and they raise they're eyebrows. "No 'how are you?' Or anything first?" Drake would laugh you would just rolled your eyes, "I'm serious!"
"Spider-Man? No I don't know him, but we follow each other on Instagram" Shawn spoke. “Ughh you guys are no help-“ you were cut off by the sound of your phone dinging. It was Tom! You take a deep breath before opening the message.
“Oh I’ll absolutely be there, see you soon love. Thanks for the invite xx”
You could feel yourself swooning and let out a little squeal. “He’s coming!” You inform your guests before the doorbell rang again. You go to open it and this time there’s a multitude of people waiting to come in - not to mention the linebof black cars and limos in the round-about dropping off even more guests. Bella & Gigi Hadid, Niall Horan, Halsey, ASAP Rocky & Big Sean, Normani and more. You hug everyone who comes in, joking with Sean about his song playing through the speakers. You drink and talk with everyone, but you can’t help but keep glancing at the door. You were really waiting for one person. After half an hour you finally settle in, maybe he wasn’t coming.
You’re sitting on the couch, on Bella’s lap pretending to listen to Lewis Capaldi talk about how nervous he is for his U.S tour. Your attention is drawn to the door though when you hear a familiar laugh. “Tom!” You exclaim, unable to hide your excitement immediately going over to him. He hugs you and you wish he’d never let go. He does though before introducing you to his guests. “This is my brother Harry, and this is my friend Jacob” he informs you and you smile at both of them before embracing them as well. “It’s so great to meet you! Make yourselves at home, can I get you some drinks?” You inquire, gesturing towards the kitchen. “They got it” he spoke whisking you away.
“Listen, Y/N, I know you hear this all the time but I think you’re an amazing woman and I’d love to take you out sometime”
“I’d love that Tom!”

what do you think of Brie Larson? I'm sorry she gets so much hate for her Marvel movie (it was shitty, yeah, but that ain't her fault, she just followed the script and director's orders. all modern-Disney female leaded films are shitty, they don't know how to write female characters and it's not the cast's fault) and I love that she tried to help minorities by asking to get interviewed by disabled/poc/female reporters instead of white men and calling for more critics of color but... I just can't bring myself to fully like her because she seems so rude in some interviews.
I think she’s doing her best with a difficult situation. I think Captain Marvel was actually a really good movie, and people hated it and hated her mostly because she was the first female lead of the MCU. The MCU and the Star Wars universe historically have had this problem; the quality of the movie doesn’t matter. Women are “stealing” a property that was “supposed to” belong to nerdy men. If Captain Marvel had a male lead, I’m 100% sure that people would be talking about how brilliant it was. I really admire that even through all of that hate, she’s sticking to her guns and trying to lift people of color, women, LGBT people, disabled people, etc. along with her.
I get why people might think she comes across as rude or unfriendly in interviews, but I think it’s just that she’s said she struggles with shyness and social anxiety, and that she’s willing to set and hold boundaries about her privacy (which, incidentally, if a man had acted the same way in those interviews, nobody would be saying shit. It would be all “aww he’s just so shy!” and “good for him for maintaining his boundaries!”). The production studio, news outlets, and her co-stars should be doing more to make her feel comfortable in public appearances instead of letting their movie bomb because the lead actress “seems bitchy in interviews”.
I would argue there’s a lot of coded ableism and sexism in the discussion about Brie Larson, and that a lot of the reason people “just don’t like her” is because she’s outspoken on issues that make people uncomfortable. She’s someone who fought very hard to be where they are now and who’s incredibly talented, and I don’t think she deserves the hate she gets at all. I think when she gets the opportunity to control her own narrative, she seems like a really thoughtful, down-to-earth, and warm person.
This article: https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/annehelenpetersen/brie-larson-is-ready does a really good job of showing who she is outside of the narrative that’s been written for her in the past few years. In particular, this bit stands out:
“There’s this expectation for women, that, you know, when we’re in public spaces, that we will be amenable...We’ve created such a stigma around ‘strong women are bitches,’ and who wants to be that? There are certain laws and codes that are ingrained in us, and we don’t even understand that there is this option of no. It’s a word that, over the years, I’ve grown more and more comfortable with — that I’ve really grown to love very much. And it’s an incredible feeling to be put into a situation where you feel like you can’t say no, and then you go, Oh wait, I have this word I can use: no. And you walk away, and you feel like you took care of yourself. If there’s anything I’d love for more women to know, it’s to spend some time just looking in the mirror, practicing your no.”
“It’s difficult, because you want to be everything to all people,” I say, feeling very much like she’s figuring out my entire life for me.
“And you just can’t," she says. "You just have to be everything to yourself.”

Heyyy dude!! Hope you're doing great. I just wanted to know why some people hate Brie Larson? I mean Captain Marvel was weird but she's not only that character all the time and she did a great job in other movies especially "Room".I really like her she seems just fine to me. I think hating on her is like hating on Shuri for being called smarter than Tony and I know that she made a comment about 40 year old white dude but she did clarify that , just because she said white doesn't mean she hates white people but it seems like people don't care about the latter statement but just the first one. It's just I've seen people who hate feminists because when a feminist says that they hate men who harasses women people always assume that they hate all men. They tend to tune out the stuff that actually clarifies what the entire sentence is all about. But then again everyone is allowed to hate or love a particular person, it's their choice. It's just people always want their actors to be good, smiling and charismatic which is mostly just a show but when an actor like Brie acts the way she wants they just don't want to accept her. I've known some people like Brie they usually seem like an asshole at first talk or come off a bit rude but they're really good people once you get to know them better. I like RDJ he also acts the way he wants to but when Brie does that everyone calls her a bitch. I'm not comparing Brie and RDJ here both of them are completely different it's just they act like themselves all the time is all. I'm sorry if anyone got offended in any sense it's your choice you can like her or hate her you've got your own reasons which is completely fine.
Couldn’t tell ya.
