Reasoning

Anthony is a man who was taught from a young age what was expected of him. To be the perfect son who would then be the head of their house. You both are stubborn on what you belive is right. Even if you are wrong you stand by your choices. I truly believe he is your perfect match. But on top of this all you both are the eldest siblings, always having to look out for others before yourselves. I think you two would bond over that, over how hard it is to have all this weight on your shoulders with no one to turn to, to take it off.

Headcanons

Being the middle child isn't so bad, until you remember how uptight Kate is and how naive Edwina is. You always felt you were trying to protect Edwina and then saving Kate from a fight. And when you all came to Britton it only got worse. Kate hated many of the men here saying they have no manners. So any chance you had you would walk in gardens or shop at the square. That is where you met Anthony. He was with his sisters Daphne and Eloise. Who couldn't be more different. For while Daphne was looking at the jewelry Eloise was looking at works of literacy you are sure could make even the most witty of men gain headaches. You couldn't take your eyes off him. And when be saw you he couldn't take his away from you either. When he moved to walk towards you is when you turned and practically ran to your carriage asking the coachman to bring you back to Lady Danbury's estate. But what you didn't see was the way his eyes lit up and the whisper that left his lips. "Shy little thing." He said with a smirk.

The first time you both spoke you were so excited you could hardly form words. And as always you just stopped talking and let him take the lead. But unlike most times with men he noticed, and asked you your thoughts on things. He didnt speak over you or for you, he let you speak freely. You never felt more accepted.

While Lord after lord wished to see your sister Edwina, the diamond, only a few wished to see you. And among those men was Anthony. He always came during visiting hours holding a bouquet of flowers. The first were Lillies, the second were Violets, the third was Roses, and finally on the fourth he gave you your favorites. And when you said how they were he made sure to bring those to you without fail.

Each dance with him felt like a dream, he would be so gentle though his grip would hold you just right that his possessive nature comes through. You didn't mind, why would you? He was the man of your dreams and he wanted you. Not Edwina, not Kate, you. So you let his hands brush your exposed back, your let his fingers trail down your arm, and in return he let you explore him too. All while on the dance floor with only so much time together.

Confession

You felt your heart race. You couldn't stop walking back and forth in your room. The white silk dress swishing violently with each step. You were getting married, and it wasn't to Anthony. One of the few lords who asked you to dance and meeted with you did, and before you could respond your sisters were cheering and the poor man took that as a yes. And so did your family. You know they meant no harm, but as soon as that ring was on your finger you felt like a wild animal in a cage. Looking for any way out but there wasn't, at least not without ruining Edwina and Kate's reputation. Let alone your Mama's who had only recently restored hers. No you had to follow through, besides the Lord was...attractive enough. He was wealthy, had a good name, and was respected by the ton. You shouldn't want for more, but you do. Oh you want so much more.

Your startled out of your thoughts when a quick sharp knock comes to the door. You look around trying to figure out who it could be.

Surely not my soon to be husband, he knows he's not to see me until I'm down that aisle. You think going to respond when the one voice you have been dying to hear speaks from behind the door.

"Tell me you are decent Anna, I must speak to you." Anthony says in a cold tone. But you know better, he's scared, he's scared of losing you because another lord bent his knee to you before him.

"I am." You respond moving your hands down the skirt of your gown.

He wastes no time opening the door and stepping in. You watch as his eyes slowly track your body. From head to toe, and back up again. He then wets his lips and clears his throat.

"You can't go through with this." He says not wasting a beat before walking towards you and taking your hands in his.

You can't hear the anxiety in his voice. The way he desperately wants you to just agree. But you both know you can't, not without good reason.

"Please." He practically begs and just as you go to respond tears rolling down your cheeks he cuts you off. "I cannot breathe when you are not in my arms. Do you know what that feels like? To only be able to breathe when we dance, and it can only be one."

"Anthony-" You say but she shakes his head quickly.

"I'm not done. When you are away I feel like I'm drowning, like there is nothing holding me here. But as soon as you walk into a room, I am above water finding my way to shore only to for you to leave me to the depths again. I need you. I clear watch you walk down that aisle to a man I know can't love you the way I do. I can't bear to see it, it will be the death of me."

You freeze at his words, they were all you ever wanted to hear. But just as you were going to respond he once again inturpts.

"So please, before you answer, spare my heart from the depths of grief and sorrow." He all but begs.

This time you don't even try to speak, you wrap your arms around his neck and pull him in for a searing kiss. There isn't a place he doesn't try to grab through your dress.

It is only when you both need air that you both stop staring at the other.

"If your going to steal the bride do it before Kate and my Mama come." You say through a giggle only to burst out laughing as he scoops you up into his arms and runs out of the Chappell carrying you bridal style.

I ship you with… the Viscount Anthony Bridgerton. Do trust me on this since Anthony is the one of few who could truly see through all the layers you’ve built around yourself because he is so much like that. Since his Father’s death, he has this father figure facade in which he pushes everyone away for the sake of his family. He carries a sense of responsibility and a no-nonsense attitude, and both of you share this stubbornness that could either make you two clash or push you both to be the best versions of yourselves. Anthony is used to keeping his emotions locked up tight, so he would be so drawn to your brutal honesty and straightforwardness. Anthony is fiercely protective, and while he might not always know the right way to show it, he would absolutely respect your need for space, while also offering you the comfort of knowing he’s there when you need him. His protective nature would help you feel safe, but unlike most who may misunderstand your bluntness, Anthony would understand in one way or another. His brain has always worked in that sense. He’s no stranger to your emotional complexity, since he has his own struggles with responsibility, family, and guilt. He’d appreciate the depth you offer—someone who is unapologetically real. And while you enjoy teasing those you care about, Anthony has his own version of teasing banter as evident in season 2. When it comes to your type, Anthony has the ‘dark, brooding charm’ you said you were drawn to. He is the kind of person who catches your eye. Anthony might seem all high and mighty with his noble duties and title, but deep down, he’s soft for animals—well, only for Willow. He’s the one to spoil her with treats and belly rubs when he visits you. The first time he did it, you thought he was just being polite, but nope. Now, when he’s around, Willow's practically in charge, and Anthony doesn’t even try to hide it. Sometimes, you'll catch him sneaking her an extra treat when you’re not looking, and when you call him out on it, he tries to act all innocent. "I just wanted to make sure she felt at home here," he’ll say with innocent look (you’re onto him usually)

Your first real moment together was a simple one. It was nothing grand, no elaborate courtship or showy gestures—just a quiet evening in one of his many lavish rooms, the flickering light from a single candle casting long shadows on the walls. There were too many people at the Bridgerton masquerade ball and you took the chance to hid away in another room when the flock was paying attention to Daphne Bridgerton. Admiring the paintings was meant to be solely for you until Anthony came, bit he remained quiet a side the small nod he gave you. You let the silence between you sit. And in that silence, there was comfort.

Of course, Anthony wasn’t one for public displays of affection. It wasn’t his style. But you didn’t need that. There was something so intimate about the way he made sure you were always close by, without anyone else noticing. When he looked at you, it felt as if the world was on fire yet his attention would be directed for you. The rest of the world could think what they wanted, but the second his eyes met yours, it was like time paused. People could be dancing, laughing, swarming the room with their laughter, but none of that mattered. Not when Anthony was standing there, just a little too close, murmuring something soft in your ear that made your heart flutter despite your best efforts to stay composed.

He may appear this way in public, but in the comfort of your chambers, he worships you. His head is crooked in your neck, murmuring softly before kissing you. The rigid walls he builds around himself crumbles when you touch him, your hand simply cupping his face and oh, he is so in love with you once again.

CONFESSION

You never meant to be here, standing in the quiet of the grand staircase, heart pounding as though it might leap from your chest. The sound of the ballroom behind you was a distant thrum, the laughter and chatter drowned by the overwhelming presence of him.

Your back was pressed against the cool stone of the wall, desperate for some kind of escape, but there was nowhere to go. The moment he appeared in the dim light, your breath caught—too sharp, too fast—like a thousand emotions rushing to the surface all at once. The world narrowed, as it always did when he was near.

“You are avoiding me” His voice was low, and you looked down, refusing to spare him a glance.“You think you can avoid me? After what you said?”

You stepped back, trying to maintain some distance, some sense of control over your own spiraling emotions. It was a mistake you made in his arms at a ball hosted by your Mama.Three simple words that had ruined everything, leaving a loose knot around your relationship with the Viscount. And in his nature, he ignored you at the time, leaving any room you entered and yet, hit is him who asks that question?

You told yourself you should be angry, should push him away, but the words you wanted to speak died in your throat. He was too close. He was always too close.

“I’m not avoiding anything,” you lied, voice trembling despite yourself. It was a game — one where you orbited one another like stars that could not meet, but simply bask in the light of one another. Your words felt hollow even as they left your mouth. He could see it. He could always see it.

Anthony didn’t move, didn’t blink. His eyes locked onto yours with a sharp intensity, as though they could pierce through the layers you had built around yourself. You hated how he always found you so easily. “You don’t have to pretend with me anymore,” he said, his words slow, deliberate. “I see it. Every time I look at you, I see this love you harbor for me. I see more and I feel. I feel it.”

You swallowed hard, his words pressing down on you, suffocating you. “What more do you see?” The question left your lips, a whisper but you already knew. You already knew exactly what he was going to say.

“I see a woman,” his voice hitched, almost hesitant as he stepped forward. “Who makes me feel like I am burning alive. You—everything about you drives me to madness. I want you in ways I cannot explain. The way you look at me, the way you speak to me—God, even the way you walk in a room makes my heart race. And I cannot—will not—ignore it any longer.”

Your pulse quickened, your hands trembling by your sides as he came even closer, until the heat of his body was so near you could feel his breath near your bare neck.

"I tried to fight it. Tried to pretend that this...this was nothing more than an infatuation. But it is not," he continued, his voice raw and quiet, his words only meant for you. "I can not breathe when you’re not near, yet I can not think when you’re in the same room. You haunt me, you possess me, and damn you—damn you for making me feel like this.”

“Stop,” you whispered, a desperate plea escaping your lips. “Please… stop.” But even as you said it, you could hear the contradiction in your voice, the way it hesitated, but you could not admit it. Each word was knife cutting the strings that held her heart and love.

“No,” Anthony’s voice was low, firm. “I will not stop. Not when every part of me cries out for you. Not when every thought, every desire, every waking hour is consumed with the thought of you.”

You could feel your heart thundering in your ears, your hands reaching for something—anything—anything to steady yourself as he stepped even closer. His breath was hot against your skin, and you were frozen in place, caught in the fire he had started.

"You have bewitched me," he whispered, so close now. “And it terrifies me. You—your smile, your words, the way you drive me mad without even trying. I can’t keep pretending that I don’t want this. That I don’t want you.”

You opened your mouth to respond, but there were no words. You always found something to say back, but not this time.The weight of his words was too much, and you found yourself trapped in his gaze, unable to do anything but breathe, barely able to move, like a deer under the eyes of her predator.

"I will endure the fires of hell itself, if it means you’re by my side."

And then, in the hush that followed, the world seemed to pause. The walls closed in. It was just you and him—together in the silence that screamed of everything that had not left your heart, now out in the open.

And you let yourself surrender to it, enclosing the small distance between you.

Welp! I got sucked into the Bridgerton AU; it's honestly been so fun writing this type of dialogue - I wish we still spoke like this!

“Pero, you’re my friend!  You do not need to have a business pretense to see me.”

He shakes his head sadly, “You will be married.  Your husband would not like a man like me visiting his wife frequently.”

“A man like you?” you're not sure what he means.

I realized that I want to get it out before of Part 1 of Bridgerton Season 3 releases on May 16th, otherwise I will go down a spiral of how my fic doesn't make sense with canon 😂 As it is, I'm debating if I should rewrite parts with Francesca debuting into the story since it was in the trailer 🫠

For my personality, I’d say I’m pretty outgoing? He simply couldn’t help it. “Fine, fine, but hurry up because I need to know if Colin finds out why Penelope and Eloise really aren’t talking anymore.” He catches your giggle, careful not to smile too much and mess up your hard work. Nights like these were his favorite. The both of you curled up on the couch. Holding you in his arms while you both do the steps to your skincare routine. Watching your most recent favorite show just the two of you. Quality time was one of Kiryu’s love languages and he adores just taking you in as much as possible.

The two of you had a long day today, with the summer coming to a close and the weather cooling as fall loomed over the horizon the two of you had taken advantage of the beautiful weather. Kiryu having set up a nice picnic for you both in the park. People watching as you both sat and appreciated the summer flowers that would soon be gone as fall strolled in. As you finished up putting the mask on his skin, he was careful when pressing a kiss to your lips not wanting to mess up the masks on your faces as you both headed to the living room. As the classical music filled the room, he held you against his chest. He couldn’t be more grateful to have you in his life. And he would be content so long as he continued to have moments like these for the rest of his days.

I actually love period pieces like bridgerton or the gilded age and old black and white movies are so fun! I love fantasy too especially in books (i read TONS) and theres a movie called stardust that’s also a book? One of my all time favs. But old 80’s movies with the special effects are also delightful for me (and another special interest i forgot.)

important stuff ahh I’m affectionate with the people i love but when people show it back i get all flustered about it I’m like what do mean you love me 🫣 how bold despite clinging to them and gushing praises at them on the regular. I do end up blushing a lot even just when I get excited talking about what I like and I don’t come up for air while chatting a mile a minute. I love spending time with the people I care about to the point where I’ll drag them everywhere with me if im able to. I also tend to worry about them quite a lot even when there’s really nothing to worry about. I’m a little airheaded and daydream-y when I’m not busy doing something. The gardening hobby definitely caught my attention, but there are other reasons! Umemiya strikes me as the type of guy who takes care of everyone first before even thinking about himself, so having someone who cares for others means he has someone who will care for him! Making sure he rests, making sure he takes his glasses off before he sleeps, helping him in the garden, helping him style his hair, etc. All the little things you do to help him has his heart fluttering!

He loves hearing you talk about animals, even listens about different birds in the area and what their diets are, researches different veggies and seeds to add to the garden to try and get more birds visiting so you can see them!

Plus someone who loves cooking? He sends you home with fresh veggies almost weekly! You're saving money whenever you go grocery shopping, and if you bring him bentos with that food he eats it all! He brags about it to everyone too!

He would love your cat, but he would also have silent stare-downs with said cat for your affection. He goes to lay his head in your lap, but your cat's already there. Now they're silently staring at each other, neither blinking. You have to adjust both of these big babies to cuddle both of them.

I also can see you getting him to watch Bridgeton with you, and he is SO enthralled! You have nights where you eat snacks and binge episodes, he plays the soundtrack when on the roof tending to the garden. You created a monster, that's what you've done!

Ume also would love someone as clingy as he is, and even more so if he can fluster you while the affection happens! He gives me cute aggression energy, so if you're blushing whenever he proclaims he loves you or you two share a kiss, expect to have your cheeks squished between his hands.
