Cair paravel was known as the kingdom of four thrones. It was also home to the two sons of Adam and two daughters of Eve, the Kings and Queens of Narnia.

But Cair Paravel is not the only famous kingdom in Narnia known for its creatures and royalty.

In the western lands of Narnia stands the great kingdom of Terabithia, ruled by the great King Jesse Aarons and his beloved sister, princess May Belle Aarons

Terabithia was taken over by the dark master, who enslaved Terabithians for centuries. That was until young Jesse Aarons and his best friend Leslie Burke came and helped free all the slaves and started a great revolt against the dark master befriending the great Terabithian giants and recruiting the most mightiest and tiny of warriors to help with their cause including a little troll hunting companion Prince Terrian aka P.T

After the great battle, Jesse and the Terabithians won, but he lost his best friend Leslie and many warriors in the process, but those who fought and survived mourned with Jesse for the loss of their friends, family, brothers, and sisters including Leslie who they already considered their young Queen along with Jesse as their King.

Jesse helped rebuild Terabithia, and all Terabithians named Jesse their King despite him being young, but before he could do anything else, Jesse brought his little sister May Belle to become their princess and rule alongside him which brought great happiness to kingdom of Terabithia.

As the years went by, Jesse was known as King Jesse, the Visionary who was known for his bravery to protect his kingdom and family, his loyalty to his subjects, and his kindness. He was also known for his artistic painting abilities.

As for May Belle, she grew up beautiful both inside and out. Her kindness and generosity were known to all Terabithians (along with her love for purple flowers), and she was also known to be just as stubborn and protective of her kingdom just as much as her older brother. May Belle was known as Princess May Belle the Kind.

She and Jesse have ruled side by side, bringing prosperity and peace to their land and have even expanded their alliances to other kingdoms and lands. They even had the pleasure of meeting the Kings and Queens of Cair Paravel, building an alliance and sharing stories with each other.

Saturn Dominant Themes — 𝐍𝐚𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐚 𝐎𝐛𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝟗

In my research, I was delighted to find the magic which resides in the nakshatra Anuradha. Unfortunately, I haven't yet understood Vishakha so I cannot speak on the spiritual journey of Anuradha coming from Vishakha. But there is something about Anuradha that is so powerful that it stands on its own.

This nakshatra literally has the power of transformation (8H) through imagination (mostly occultism but I will be touching a lot on fantasy in this post). It is symbolized by the lotus, a flower that is able to grow in dirty waters as long as there is stillness. This is interesting as I often associate this water sign with a muddy pond-- which would signify Scorpio's ability to navigate through the murky or unseen aspects of life.

In Anuradha, Scorpio uses imagination as a tool to explore themes of humanity or challenge societal norms. Reality can be so harsh for Anuradha that it often escapes to pure fantasies, if not the occult, where they can actually take lessons from other worlds and transform for the better. Here, the still waters represent the real world for Anuradha; reality can be so oppressive and unchanging, and yet the lotus still grows despite its powerlessness over the waters. Their real power is learned from other realms. Here it is imagination that develops the resilience of Anuradha, this resilience and their newfound power signifying Saturn which is the lord that rules over this nakshatra.

The best film to first mention is "Pan's Labyrinth", which is written and directed by Guillermo del Toro who is Anuradha Moon. There is also a book version which was written by him and co-written by Cornelia Funke who is also Anuradha Moon.

The story follows a little girl who lives in the harsh realities of post-war Spain in 1944. She travels with her pregnant mother to go live with a sadistic, psychopathic military officer -- that happens to be her stepfather -- in an extremely isolated area (8H/signs of coming danger).

The little girl discovers a mysterious labyrinth near this remote area, and she meets a mythological creature who reveals to her that she is the reincarnation of the Princess of the Underworld. This faun-like creature then gives her three life-risking tasks to prove herself as the rightful ruler of the Underworld.

A little similar to Alice In Wonderland, as she navigates this magical, fantasy realm in which she encounters many other mythical creatures. Her reality outside remains the same. She still lives under the authority of her evil stepfather who becomes increasingly violent and overbearing. Yet, despite her unchanging reality, the tasks that she was assigned to in the labyrinth prove to be a metaphor of her strength, resilience, and her transformation which helps her face the harsher real world while still retaining her innocence/imagination and morality.

The oppressive figure in her life is something of a prominent theme for Saturn nakshatras so it is interesting how it plays into Anuradha; and how the tasks she was assigned to in this mystical world push her beyond her comfort zone which is Saturn simply refining her through difficulties and the 8H putting her in extremely dangerous situations.

Despite this story being the epitome of Anuradha, I still have some more examples.

The movie "Bridge to Terabithia"; which is about an artistically-driven boy who befriends a girl who is known for her creativity & imagination (played by Anna Sophia Robb who has Rahu in Anuradha). This movie is based on the book with the same name written by Anuradha Moon Katherine Paterson who literally explores the themes of resilience built from imagination to overcome harsh reality.

The two friends team up in creating an imaginary kingdom called Terabithia just in the woods near where they live. This kingdom becomes a place they escape to when they go through extreme difficulties that they as kids are powerless in. They use their imaginations to overcome challenges and build their confidence through.

And, "The Chronicles of Narnia" which was written by C.S. Lewis who was Anuradha Sun.

The story follows the Pevensie siblings during the harsh and challenging reality of World War II. They lived in London but have moved to the countryside due to the bombing raids which have affected their homes. Very interesting how this story also sets in around the times of war where there is loss of all comfort and security -- much like Pan's Labyrinth. Both very 8H themed.

Also, Pevensie siblings are almost all Saturn-ruled nakshatra moons.

And Lucy Pevensie, who is played by Anuradha Moon Georgina Helen Henley, is actually the one who first discovered the world Narnia through the wardrobe (another gateway similar to the labyrinth in the Pan's Labyrinth).

C.S Lewis explored many universal moral and ethical concepts by using Narnia as a sort of playground to take the Pevensie siblings through a journey of self-discovery, redemption, and transformations with many dilemmas they have to face which further builds virtuous character/resilience. They come out all the more wiser and better as people from their journey in Narnia -- and this leads to their eventual crowning as kings and queens of Narnia which further signifies the rewards reaped from Saturn from the total refinement and transformations.

And Aslan, who was voiced by Anuradha Moon Liam Neeson, is an agent of transformation and great influence on each characters' path to growth/redemption.

He encourages virtues such as courage, strength, kindness and sacrifice. His character is very pure, and he even acts as a father figure especially to the youngest sibling, Lucy, who is also Anuradha Moon.

Very interesting how Aslan literally is an important role in the natural order of Narnia as his presence seems to be closely tied with the changing of the seasons and the restoration of harmony in the world of Narnia. This literally bears a resemblance to Lord Mitra's role in maintaining cosmic order and harmony in the universe. Very similarly to Mitra, Aslan embodies virtues like justice and nobility. This character is the embodiment of the retained purity of one's soul in a world full of the push-&-pull of good and evil forces.

Now onto Alice in Wonderland, which was written by Lewis Carroll who was a double Anuradha.

Now, Alice does not seem to come from any hardships at all. She is simply portrayed as a curious little girl whose character still grows in Wonderland. The story shows how she struggles with her identity and fitting in in Wonderland, as this world challenges everything she thought she knew. I did establish that Anuradha seems to use fantasy as a canvas to challenge norms, logic and point to the absurdity of societal norms. These themes are leaning in Ketu territories, and it can validate Scorpio being co-ruled by Ketu as perceptions of reality and the fluidity of truth is often highlighted throughout the story. Especially through the characters Chesire Cat and the Mad Hatter.

A little off topic, but very interesting that Chesire Cat was voiced by Swati Sun Jim Cummings in the 1951 film version and the 2010 version was voiced by Magha Sun&ASC Stephen Fry which is literally just a darker version of the character. This character is very nodal influenced as it understands the madness in Wonderland, shamelessly embracing the absurd nature of the world which may or may not be illusory. (Also, Mad Hatter -- in the 1951 film -- was voiced by Swati Sun Ed Wynn AND Johnny Depp played a darker version of the Mad Hatter in the 2010 film and he has his Ketu conjunct his Moon).

Anyways, Lewis Carroll actually uses the Mad Hatter to shed light on the societal issues of that era. Anuradha utilizing fiction and imagination as a tool to explore Nodal themes would make sense as they have an understanding that the world doesn't really change (but that doesn't stop one from transformation/education). Anuradha is supposed to reject societal norms, but natives can feel really stifled by their reality and even by themselves sometimes.

But this nakshatra literally can unlock the power of bringing imagination to life, which is shown in an obviously exaggerated way in the book "Inkheart" written by Anuradha Moon Cornelia Funke. And the movie based on that was actually directed by Anuradha Sun Iain Softley. This story is about a man, named Silvertongue, who has the ability to bring fictional characters to life from simply just reading a book aloud.

Very interesting that 'Silvertongue' is portrayed by a Jyestha Sun -- Mercury being a function in him speaking things to life.

Now, Anuradha is a Saturn nakshatra which obviously means that the other nakshatras ruled by the same lord will trine it and pick up on very similar themes. So just gonna throw some examples out there.

Like the film "Jumanji" (1995) which starred Pushya Sun Robin Williams who plays a character that got sucked into the world of a mysterious board game since he was a kid. He's brought back to the real world when he's his adult self (Anuradha/Saturn theme of growing and learning survival in another realm) -- but his release comes with the cost of the creatures from the board game being brought into the real-world to wreak havoc. The movie is just a bit similar to Inkheart, in the element of two different worlds colliding; as in Inkheart, the character Silvertongue brings a fictional villain into the real world which leads to a series of dangerous events.

The film "Jumanji" is directed by Joe Johnston who has Rahu in Uttara Bhadrapada and the movie is based on a children's book with the same name written by Uttara Bhadrapada Moon Chris Van Allsburg.

The animated film "Caroline" is written and directed by Anuradha Sun Henry Selick, based on the book with the same name which is written by Pushya Moon author Neil Gaiman.

This story follows a young girl, voiced by Pushya Moon Dakota Fanning, who finds a secret hidden door in the new home she just moved in with her parents. This doorway leads to a parallel world where her 'Other mother' and 'Other father' seem so loving towards her as compared to her real parents who neglect her and are always so busy.

Her 'Other parents' are so attentive to her every desire but as Caroline explores this very twisted reality, she discovers just how sinister 'Other mother' is and the world that was once so perfect to her was actually designed as a trap to keep her there (4H themes). Despite this film having the Anuradha outline of the native finding a doorway to another world, this trope of the evil mother is literally Pushya-coded. Actually, I'll quickly touch on this as this is what I got so far regarding Pushya:

In the film "Tangled", Rapunzel -- voiced by Pushya Moon Mandy Moore -- has been continuously manipulated and exploited by her mother figure, Gothel, who has designed the tower, with which they lived in, as a way to trap Rapunzel in so that she never leaves her side, so that she'll continue exploiting her for the rest of her life. Very obvious that these are Cancer/4H themes mixed together with Saturn -- making the mother the oppressive figure in this Saturnian's life.

I find it interesting that Pushya Sun Gypsy Rose literally identified herself with Rapunzel, having even once said that "Tangled" is her favourite movie. It makes so much sense with what her mother put her through, she literally is Rapunzel in the real world if you think about it.

There is a movie already out that's based on her life events, and she is of course played by a Pushya Sun actress Joey King, in the film "The Act".

Anyways back to Saturn nakshatras being otherwordly; the author of "The Shadowhunters" books is Pushya Sun Cassandra Clare.

There are two media adaptions of her books, and it is fitting that they both star Saturn nakshatra women playing the same character, 'Clary'. At the start of the story, Clary is able to perceive creatures, symbols and buildings invisible to the regular human's eye. She is then involuntarily pulled into a whole new world she didn't think possible, and her character grows from there as she befriends different beings.

In the series version, Anuradha Sun&Moon Katherine McNamara portrays Clary. And the film version, Uttara Bhadrapada Sun Lily Collins plays Clary.

Clary, in the beginning of the story, being able to perceive what any other human couldn't pick up on and being played by both an Anuradha and an Uttara Bhadrapada makes a lot of sense. Anuradha is the truth seeker and Uttara Bhadrapada's deity contains the truths of the world. In the film "The Golden Compass", a young girl discovers a fascinating device, called Golden Compass, which can reveal the truth and answer to any question asked of it.

Any truth she seeks, the answer is always so close. The truth will be easily perceivable to a gifted Saturn nakshatra. The movie of this film is directed by Anuradha Sun Chris Weitz.

Now, my last example. The film "The Neverending Story" is directed by a Ketu in Uttara Bhadrapada native Wolfgang Petersen. The story follows a boy who becomes immersed with a fantasy storybook.

This boy faces hardships in his reality; not only is he bullied at school but he's also experiencing the grief from the loss of his mother. In this film there is no secret doorway that leads to an otherworldly adventure, but the boy becomes deeply engrossed in the fantasy book. He finds himself deeply connecting with the fictional characters, and especially with the events in the book to such an extent that his own life starts to literally intertwine with the storybook.

His life begins to not only reflect but also impact the events occurring in the book. The line between his real life and the story literally becomes blurred. This being a theme in Anuradha which emphasizes the bridge of humanity between other worlds and our "real" world.

Anuradha builds a bridge between extremes that most people don't care to consider in their personal lives. Being under Saturn makes it feel impossible to physically overcome hardships and it is in this nakshatra that there is a theme of finding solace in imagination, but also building oneself from imagination as reality/circumstances can make it impossible to grow. This is a profound lesson from all Saturn nakshatras, but this is the main theme for Anuradha being ruled by the 8H. It is the 8H that makes us go within and explore our own realms and face the shadows of our subconscious mind to come out transformed & elevated -- thus rising above circumstances we were once powerless in. In Anuradha, innocence and purity is retained despite how destructive the 8H/Saturn and the reality it creates is. Again, going right back to the lotus growing in the still, muddy waters.

How come in real life internet I see thousands of people who develop original characters and worlds as a hobby and most fiction is made by those people but they're so rarely acknowledged to exist *in* mainstream fiction? If a character in a story has an art hobby it's always a stock one like painting or sculpting or just writing some kind of novel we seldom learn the details of. We never see a character talk about imagining creatures or cultures or technology for a project. That anime about the girls making an anime is one of the only exceptions I can recall. Oh and I guess that's what Bridge to Terabithia kind of was?

But those were also exceptions because it was their whole premise. Imagination is never treated as a casual part of any adult's life in most media, not even just for a bad quirky side character. It's not addressed either positively or negatively.

What if Terabithia was a part of the Narnian world. Now I'm not saying it is, I know my fandoms, but what if it was?

What if during the time the Pevensie siblings were ruling their kingdom, they came to the Kingdom of Terabithia meeting King Jesse and his sister Princess May Belle.

What if Jesse and Leslie (before she passed) encountered the world of Narnia and the kingdom of Terabithia similarly to how the Pevensie siblings did?

What if the adventures Jesse and Leslie had were actually happening but in Narnia?

(I'll do some Ghoul SFW in a follow-up; this got away from me a little.)

Clearly he enjoys film and theatre, but he has a fairly secret soft spot for musicals. Pretty much any musical will pique his interest, and you'll spend a fair few date nights out seeing shows. You find it very endearing that he wants to share his interests with you. He's got an especially soft spot for some of the older, cheesier musicals though; hope you're ready to see "Brigadoon" like a half dozen times! He's got that one on tape.

"Old Yeller" is banned media in the Howard household (as are most things about dogs who die), as well as books like "The Velveteen Rabbit", which he read to Janey when she was four and never truly recovered from. Coop cries like a baby every time and gets so embarrassed. You once asked Janey if she'd ever seen it, and she tells you, rather conspiratorially, that she once watched it at a friend's house.

The old man actually cries quite easily when he's moved by something. He'll try to hide it away, but every once in a while he fully loses it (tbh it's the 'child death' type stuff that really upsets him; to this day, he's still a little mad at Barb for showing him "Bridge to Terabithia" on family movie night and thinking he would like it). You think it's the sweetest thing and you always reassure him that it's nothing to be ashamed of.

I imagine that, like a good, engaged father, he takes a particular interest in Janey's likes and hobbies; if you ask him what she likes, he can give you an entire list of things you can engage with her on, every single one of them accurate and up-to-date. If Janey really likes a book series, he'll read it (or maybe listen to it if he's short on time). If she really likes a band, y'all have fun at the concert! Every group comes through LA so you may be going to several concerts a year eventually. He even knows who her favorite member is! He only falls in love with you more when you do the same with her.

He's a true romantic at heart; despite being really torn up about the divorce and thinking he'll never fall in love again, he does, and hard. It's not long before he (unbelievably, to him especially) finds himself wanting to propose. He waits a while, though, wanting to feel out the dynamic between you and Janey, worrying about how Barb will feel when she ultimately finds out. He doesn't want to be married to her anymore, but he still cares for her, and he doesn't want to hurt her.

I'd like to think that he and Barb had a pretty nice, large wedding (as I've said before, likely at an older age than many of their peers, even if, canonically, it seems they were already dating during Cooper's military service; they both strike me as the type to want to wait until they were better established to actually marry). Not anything too crazy, but since Cooper's career was really starting to take off, she did want to use the wedding as an opportunity to rub elbows, so there were quite a few people in attendance that he flat-out didn't know. It didn't bother him much at the time; Barb always loved an opportunity to network and Coop could never deny her anything. But, given a chance to do it over, I think he'd do things differently.

With you, he'd wanna go to the courthouse. He'd be happy to have a nice, private ceremony eventually, maybe a little vow renewal for your one-year down on the beach in Mexico or something. But when you get legally married it'll be at the courthouse, just the two of you and Janey. You wouldn't have it any other way.

You try your best to keep it under wraps, but, well...marriage licenses are a matter of public record, and there are people whose whole job is to unearth things like that. The fallout (ha) from it may be stronger than you anticipated, but, at the end of the day, you have one another, and you're happy with that.

After not writing a lot over the summer (other than for my German gays) I finally sat down and finished some wips I've been sitting on for way too long so if you miss Newtmas as much as I do, here are new fics for you to read: loss of my life [general audiences] Thomas made it to Safe Haven, Newt didn't. This Place Is Ours [general ausiences] Thomas never knew true friendship before Newt. Most of his days he spent lost in his head, quiet and alone, while the world around him just felt too loud and too fast. But then Newt came along like some kind of whirlwind—blond hair always messy, and a smile that shook Thomas' world in the best way possible. (because Newtmas and Bridge to Terabithia aren't gut-wrenching enough on their own, I had to combine them. Thanks to @kestis-advent and @fandoms-princess for bringing it up in the Glade)

And since we're already talking about sad, I finally finished that second chapter of one of my all-time favourites: THE LONELIEST [explicit] Sometimes when someone dies, their soul may latch onto a beloved object from their life, becoming inseparably linked to it. Just as a human's existence is defined by their heartbeat, the spirit's existence becomes tied to this object. or: you know how sometimes you masturbate about your dead best friend and accidentally summon his ghost? (i read this prompt under a steddie fic and thought this might be fun for newtmas too... spoiler, this wasn't fun, this was sad)

I am also months too late but I can finally contribute to @mazerunner-rarepairs with my first Teresa/Thomas/Newt fic: Every Night Has Its Dawn [explicit] And Thomas—Tommy—was blue, a steady and reliable force, like the endless sky above or the rhythmic consistency of waves breaking on the shore. Newt had always been yellow, consumed by cowardice and jealousy. But together, they were green. Green like life, like hope, like the memories they clung to in a world so full of loss. As for what Teresa brought into the mix? Newt couldn’t quite tell yet. (This was quite challenging to me as Newtmas has my whole heart and I never really could imagine Teresa ending up with Thomas as long as Newt is around but I really wanted to explore their dynamic and I actually like how this turned out?)

"Everything Will Be Okay (Eventually)."

Mike comes to terms with the fact that his brother is never coming home again. Slowly and painfully.

Trigger warnings: Implied/referenced kidnapping and murder, grief, guilt, and a child in distress.

This scene broke me as a kid, and I think it fits Mike's character (ironic considering both characters are played by Josh Hutcherson).

I will write something happy, eventually. I promise, but something about these siblings makes me want to write all the angst.

Mike stumbles out of the house, stopping just barely to slip his shoes on. He needs to leave. He needs to get out. He needs-

The houses pass by in a blur. Mike runs as fast as he can. The wind catches in his hair, blowing it off his tear-stained face. He doesn’t know where he’s going, or why he’s running. Only that he needs to get away. 

He runs several blocks down. A dead-end, where the street meets a forest. A simple metal sign warns off potential intruders. Mike climbs over it and continues running. 

The trees tower over him, blocking out the setting sun. It’s not completely dark, but it will be soon. Animals chatter, hiding in the trees and bushes. Their songs a background noise to his spiraling thoughts. 

His foot catches on a tree root, pulling him to the ground. He falls on his hands and knees. A dull pain radiates from his palms, mingling with the ache in his sides. His breaths come out faster. He heaves, using one of his skinned palms to pull at his shirt. 

Mike’s heart beats faster. It, too, hurts. 

Garrett and he used to play in these woods all the time. Any free time they had they were playing pretend here - tag and hide-and-seek and pirates and two people piloting a plane…...

Behind him, a stick cracks. 

Chest heaving, he pushes himself up. He needs to go. Someone is here. They’re going to hurt him. They’re going to take him. Just like they did to-

Mike forces himself into a sprint, pushing past the achy feeling in his body. The forest is darker now. It makes it hard to see. His mind is racing, thoughts scattered in a thousand different places. 

Whoever’s chasing him speeds up. Underbrush is kicked up, as he does everything in his power to go faster. Mike sucks in air, but it doesn’t help. More sticks break behind him. 

He imagines a huge, hulking monster with red eyes and large claws clamoring after him.

Last Halloween, he watched The Thing with his little brother. Not their smartest idea, as they both had nightmares for weeks on end afterwards. The monster’s true form is never revealed, but Mike’s mind had no problems coming up with what it thinks the monster looks like. A similar image of the movie monster pops into his head, pushing him to stay out of its claws. 

“Mike!” The monster calls out, sounding oddly familiar. But he won’t be fooled. 

Mike dashes further into the woods. It’s so dark now. He stops for a moment. Everything feels like it’s spinning. Faster and faster. He gulps down some air, looking around. From here, everything looks the same. He can’t tell where he came from. 

A hand clamps down on his shoulder. “Michael-”

He screams, loudly. 

So loud that the hand yanks itself away, only to come back a moment later to pull Mike closer. The monster shushes him. “Mikey, Mikey, it’s okay. Shhh…it’s okay.”

Mike opens his eyes. He looks up. “D-dad…?” All his previous fear vanishes. He collapses against his dad, who carefully kneels on the ground. A stern expression on his face. He holds Mike’s face in his hands.

“Mike, what are you doing out here? Your mother and I were worried sick..”

“I-I…” He can’t get the words to come out. 

“What?” His dad asks, sounding genuinely concerned. Which, for some reason, hurts worse than if they just blamed him for the whole thing. “Please, Mike, we just want to-”

“I’m sorry,” he finally says. Hot tears drip from his eyes. He sniffles, chest stuttering. 

“For what?” A thumb wipes at his tears, and his dad’s eyes soften just a touch. “What in the world are you saying sorry for?”

“For…I’m sorry….I…” He sobs, throwing himself at his dad’s chest. A hand cards through his hair. 

“Is this about your brother?”

He nods, fists clutching his dad’s jacket. Even if he doesn’t deserve it, Mike can’t bring himself to let go. One last lifeline. 

“Son, that wasn’t your fault.”

“But it was!” Mike insists, voice going up an octave or two. Snot and tears mix, making his neck feel all sticky and gross. His chest and throat ache from the force of his crying. “I…I should have been watching. It’s all my fault. It’s all my fault. It’s all my-”

His dad cuts him off. “Michael Schmidt, stop it!” 

Mike takes a shaky breath, letting his dad speak. His dad holds his chin in place with one hand, making sure that Mike hears him, fully and completely. 

“None of this, and I do mean none of this, is your fault. It’s not mine. It’s not your mother’s. And it is certainly, one hundred percent, not yours. Do you understand me?”

He sobs again, and his dad lets him go, letting Mike cling to him. “Why did they have to take Garrett!? Why my little brother!? Dad why!?” The words come out nearly unintelligible, mumbled and garbled by his sobs, but his dad seems to understand him anyway. 

“I don’t know,” he murmurs, kissing the top of Mike’s head. “I have no idea.”

“I just want my brother back! I miss him so much! I want to play with my best friend again! It hurts so much! Why does it hurt so much!?”

His dad lightly hums, continuing to stroke his hair. “I don’t know.”

“I keep watching the door, hoping that he’ll come home. But-but he never does. Garrett’s not coming home, is he?” He asks in a strained voice. 

His dad stays quiet, and that’s all the answer that Mike needs.

For hours (though, in reality it’s probably an hour at most), his dad holds him in the middle of a quickly darkening forest. Mike wails. All the pent-up grief and sadness and anger at the entire situation, makes itself known. 

When he can’t muster up any more tears, Mike and his dad walk home in silence. His dad keeps a gentle hand on his shoulder the entire walk back, guiding and reassuring him that everything’s going to be okay. 

And it will be….

…. eventually….

Another one that has fascinated me since the first time I read it, way back in the dark ages of high school. Dystopian society where Big Brother is always watching. The main character is lured into going against the grain only to ultimately be punished. That's a terrible excuse for a summary but here we are.

The Santaland Diaries by David Sedaris

Some satire and humor as the author details his time working as an elf during the Christmas season. If you don't wheeze and piss yourself laughing I really don't know what to tell you.

Book 2 of a MM series about 7 psychopath brothers. I love the series but August is my favorite.

Dear gods what a fucking fabulous book. Chronicles the life of the (fictional) mysterious hollywood actress, Evelyn Hugo, with an absolutely insane twist at the end.

The Christmas Box Collection by Richard Paul Evans

Technically a trilogy but I can't separate them. This begins by telling the story of a young family who move in with an elderly widow. It then moves on to the details of who the widow was before, starting at the very beginning with how she met her husband, and the reason for the large marble angel statue on the property.

Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson

One of my favorites from my youth. All about friendship and imagination and what happens when that gets ripped away. Again, a shit summary, but it's a fantastic read. I have absolutely considered an au about this one.
