BRIDE OF CHUCKY (1998)
“Rude f*ckin’ doll.” Jennifer Tilly brought it and there were so many good doll special effects which takes us back to what we love about chucky in the first place. This movie was fun, flirty, and deadly. A very worthy addition to horror films in general, not just the series.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Chucky’s old girlfriend brings his doll back to life because she missed him but he isn’t super sweet on her so she locks him in a crib. To get back at her he kills her and makes her into a doll (you know, an eye for an eye). She is not happy about this and now it is a lot harder for them both to go to Chucky’s physical burial location and get the special necklace he was wearing when his human body died. If he left her alive and human she could have just driven them but he’s such an angry little dickhead he had to make her into a doll to “teach her a lesson,” it is so silly. Tiffany calls her neighbor and asks him to transport her and Chucky as “two special dolls.”
The kids are Jade (played by Katherine Heigl!) and Jesse and they have a cute love story but also who cares about them because Chucky and Tiffany, baby! Just in trying to leave town the dolls kill the uncle police officer and another police officer and get the kids on the most wanted list (wack). Random scenic shots of Niagara falls. Tiff is all about utilizing her surroundings for her killings and is very inspiring to Chucky who asks her to marry him after a particularly poignant encounter. We also have very goofy doll sex at this point which is wack. The kids think each other are the killer which is a little goof about but then their friend comes in to try and prove they are both not murderers and he ends up getting a high five in the face from a mac truck after being surprised by the living dolls.
When they get to the grave site, the kids don’t want to give their bodies to the dolls so they fight back, Tiffany goes in the oven and Chucky out the window. Tiffany gives up at this point, she is toasted and toast, but Chucky takes Jade and gets to the grave. Tiffany has other plans though, she wants to see her mans in Hell so she fights him to the death. He bests her and it is up to the kids who basically trap him like a small animal in a hole and he runs around all wild like. Then they shoot him after the local law enforcement comes up so he can prove their innocence and they get to go back home ever again. Very good and fun movie (wish it didn’t include the little bit where Tiff immediately birthed a Chucky hell-spawn at the very end but, hey, I still really enjoyed this film).
But let’s go back to the tub, let’s go back to Tiffany watching Bride of Frankenstein and realizing that the bride never loved The Monster. She is crying because she is applying this to her life, but which one is she? Is she the bride? Or is she The Monster? Now we can never know because Chuck and Tiff have one of the most toxic relationships that people idolize but there was a turning point for our girl Tiffany in that moment. Was she going to apologize and confess her undying love for Chucky, not ever wanting him to feel like The Monster? Or would she tell him off for making her feel like The Monster? Such an important little scene that I wish she talks to Chucky about, and considering the end, I have a feeling she might see herself at the ladder.

BRIDE OF CHUCKY- 1998 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The best Chucky sequel hands down.
Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) resurrects her former lover Chucky (Brad Dourif) and plans to marry him.
After a falling out he kills her and puts her in doll form also. They have to travel to the buried body of Charles Lee Ray in New Jersey to retrieve his amulet and return to human form....
What a classic. Such a departure from previous Chucky films. The first not to have "Childs Play" in the name. The first not to have Chucky battling Andy. And the movie that introduced Jennifer Tilly to the franchise.
This film leans fully into comedy and is pretty hilarious at points. The doll sex scene is great.
Plenty of fun kills. Jennifer Tillys bath death scene is tremendous. Damiens piercings being ripped out traumatised me as a kid.
Living Dead Girl by Rob Zombie is great.
Love the late 90s vibe in this film. Bride of Chucky is directed by Ronny Yu who also directed Freddy vs Jason. I think hes a very underated horror director.
Chucky has some great one liners and moments. Katherine Heigl isnt bad as Jade. Julia Stiles was originally cast as Jade but dropped out to star in "10 things i hate about you".
Jennifer Tilly is the star of the show. Hilarious, dramatic and adds so much to this film.
One of my favourite movies.

Shoutout to my BFF Jay
Who bought me some of Glamlite’s Chucky and Tiffany makeup collection! He bought be the Dangerous Duo lip kit from both Chucky and Tiff! Seriously, the packaging was insane along with the mini lil poster!
The Chucky lipstick was more of a nude/natural color while Tiffany’s was a dark red/purple color. As a huge Tiffany fan, I’m obsessed with her lipstick! Definitely check out Glamlite’s website to see what other Chucky/Tiffany makeup products they have!
Once again, thank you Jay! @king-of-wicked

Bride of Chucky
A Review
Ronny Yu made the correct choice working with the one and only father of Chucky, Don Mancini. I feel like Don's seamless continuing control over the Chucky franchise paired with Ronny Yu's absolute lack of knowledge of the Chucky franchise (and his love of the monster) made for a one-of-a-kind franchise installment.
Writing- 5/5
This entire script takes the snark we know Chucky for and dials it up by giving him a dominating sparring partner in Tiffany Valentine. There are some jokes that kinda feel needless (repeating the "what a crock" joke only got an "eeh" out of me), but Voodoo for Dummies?
And lines like:
"For God's sake Chucky, drag yourself into the 90s"
"Martha Stewart can kiss my shiny plastic butt!"
When Chucky tells Tiffany to "act natural" and this is her response
The entire weird sex scene conversation that 100% does happen in a film about two sentient dolls? It was only a matter of time before we got here, let's be honest.
The addition of Tiffany Valentine allows for a totally valid reason to shake things up- creative kills, high-speed freeway chases with two DOLLS holding two whole adult humans hostage, and the film's only gay character (spoiler but RIP David) getting absolutely blasted by an 18-wheeler for no reason other than Don probably just realized the cast needed to shrink real quick.
Special mention-
The honeymoon suite kill scene. Yeah, it looks a little cheesy, but you best believe before I was old enough to watch horror movies, my older cousin was telling me about this scene in vivid, terrifying detail (much scarier than reality, but what can you do?)
Soundtrack- 4.5/5
Living Dead Girl starts this movie off with a bang and a moment I haven't forgotten for one second of my spooky sapphic life. These are the moments in which horror icons are made.
The soundtrack is mostly upbeat drums and chugging guitar riffs which I loved (it especially added to the freeway chase) I just didn't go full 5 stars because I didn't notice it as much as I'd want to in a party movie like this (because yes, if I ever do host a halloween party I will be popping in this exact VHS to play on repeat).
Also shout out to my boy, Graeme Revell. Been a legend since The Crow in my eyes (but also for so much iconic 80s and 90s horror....and Sharkboy and Lavagirl) and I'll always get excited when I see that name in the credits!
Effects- 4.75/5
First let me say Chucky looks fantastic. Can he emote as well as Tiffany with those pencil-thin eyebrows? Maybe not but this is the opus version of Chucky, so.
The animatronics are still my favorite thing to watch in a Chucky film because you forget that these aren't sentient dolls almost constantly (except when Chucky's body double is crawling on all fours- that's some nightmare fuel). Their faces are so expressive (for rubber doll faces) and there's even a shot of Tiffany walking across the floor of a Winnebago (maybe?) without a wire in sight! Oh, how far we've come.
The effects in some scenes are a little cheesy (the honeymoon suite kill, the gross, fleshy title card, etc) but it's easily overlooked because Chucky and Tiffany are by far the main event of the sfx team.
Extra ratings?
Queerness-3/5
Written by an out gay man, HELLO!
Alexis Arquette!! Easily the second-hottest person in this movie, I loved seeing her camp it up (in a masc role, but goths love to play with androgyny so I'll take it) as the try-hard Damien.
This also unexpectedly features the gbff trope usually reserved for rom-coms in David, a guy whose queerness isn't painfully exaggerated like some portrayals were at the time, and who's probably the most level-headed of the bunch.
RIP, -2 because David got blasted by a big rig and not in the fun way.
Bride of Frankenstein retelling 5/5
It's pretty obvious on rewatch, but this is a whole Bride of Frankenstein retelling. It even follows the title convention (I tell my younger self who completely missed the comparison). I haven't read the dissections of the original that explain why the bride is a metaphor, but in a more literal sense, this Bride has the power unlike her predecessor. Even though she falls in with a toxic ex, she has autonomy and pushes back, eventually sort of kind of helping the two teens (who are not interesting enough to put in this review) stop Chucky. And she gives birth to a weird demon baby while mostly charred through a non-stretch plastic vagina so. That's pretty metal.
Tiffany Valentine 11/5
TIFFANY VALENTINE THE WOMAN THAT YOU ARE
THE COSTUMING
THE TRAILER SET DRESSING
But most of all the performance!!!
I may be looking through heart eyes, but I'm not wrong!
Overall, Bride of Chucky will never not be one of my favorites. The addition of Jennifer Tilly allowed the Child's Play series (and all future iterations), to have fun, but to also play with the tone of its installments. Seed of Chucky and the Chucky series tend to focus on Chucky (and friends)'s humanity and personalities, whereas Curse and Cult of Chucky take the franchise back to an exciting, sometimes scary, and eventually openly queer and complicatedly sapphic place. Ignoring the reboot (which he was thankfully not responsible for), Don Mancini's got quite a legacy going, and Ronny Yu had a key part in that.

Hallloweenathon Bride of Chucky
(Note before I start the review,I used to see the cover of this in the video store as a kid and it creeped me out )
So I am a fan of the Chucky series ,and Ihave seen all the movies.....EXCEPT for the topic of this review Bride of Chucky, and having seen it,I have now seen all the movies....Still need to see the show .....Onto review
In this 1998 film Chucky(Brad Douriff) is back with his old flame Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly ) ,seeking to regain human form with the help of an amulet ,going on a road trip with an unsuspecting young couple ,Jade (Katherine Heigel ) and Jesse (Nick Stabile )
Childs Play is an interesting franchise cause it is one of the few series where every installment is solid and its not afraid to mix things up.This is the 4th installment in the series and its changes a lot of things
1.NO Andy Barclay .See Andy was the main character of the first three films and he wont come back till a few installments down the line
2.More of an emphasis on humor .This film is first and foremost a dark comedy
3.We have a new figure in the form of another villain Chuckys girlfriend Tiffany .Tiffany is a major player in the franchise and has definately has place in the hearts of many a horror fan
4......Chucky is the lead .Yeah we do have the human couple but the film is all about the relationship between Chucky and Tiffany
As for what I think of the film itself :This is fun with good jokes and over the top kills .What makes the film is the two villains ,which are really protrayed brillaintly by both the effects tema and the vocal performances of Brad Douriff and Jennifer Tilly .I also admire the performances of John Ritter (Playing against type as Jades controling policeman uncle ),Alexis Arquette and Gordon Michael Woolvet ,and I admire the direction of Ronny Yu
The main problem with the film.....I dont give a damn about Jade and Jesse ,which is weird cause this series has some really likable heroes, but these two are just kind of there
Overall I had a fun time with this film,Id have to do a marathon to know where this would place on the series as a whole ,but on its own its fun

was pokin around the reviews for Bride of Chucky and saw this
which is funny but it's so disappointing to see someone say that about Pinhead :( Clive Barker didn't put his whole pussy into the Hellraiser franchise for us to assume that the Cenobites somehow aren't consummate connoisseurs of carnality
#''corporeal pleasures'' is literally the whole thing! the transcendence comes FROM indulgence#pain alchemised into pleasure alchemised into pain. a recursive loop that makes devotees out of seekers#please understand that not only does pinhead fuck but pinhead fucks more thoroughly and more attentively than anyone#all this aside. chucky having sex is literally one of the funniest things to happen in horror media and i'm glad it did lol

Review: Seed of Chucky (2004)
Seed of Chucky (2004)
Rated R for strong horror violence/gore, sexual content and language
<Originally posted at https://kevinsreviewcatalogue.blogspot.com/2023/07/review-seed-of-chucky-2004.html>
Score: 2 out of 5
Seed of Chucky is, without a doubt, the most overtly comedic entry in the Child's Play franchise, specifically serving as writer and now director Don Mancini's take on a John Waters movie, right down to casting Waters himself as a sleazy paparazzo. It's a film full of one-liners, broad gags, gory kills that are often played as the punchlines to jokes, and most importantly, sexual humor, particularly in its depiction of its non-binary main character that is admittedly of its time in some ways but also a lot more well-intentioned than its peers, and holds up better than you might think for a movie made in 2004. This was really the point where Mancini being an openly gay man was no longer merely incidental to the series, but started to directly inform its central themes. In a movie as violent and mean-spirited as a slasher movie about killer dolls, this was the one thing it needed to handle tastefully, and it more or less pulled it off, elevating the film in such a manner that, for all its other faults, I couldn't bring myself to really dislike it.
Unfortunately, it's also a movie that I wished I liked more than I did. It's better than Child's Play 3, I'll give it that, but it's also a movie where you can tell that Mancini, who until this point had only written the films, was a first-time director who was still green around the ears in that position, and that he was far more interested in the doll characters than the human ones. The jokes tend to be hit-or-miss and rely too much on either shock value or self-aware meta humor, its satire of Hollywood was incredibly shallow and made me nostalgic for Scream 3, and most of the human cast was completely forgettable and one-note. Everything connected to the dolls, from the animatronic work to the voice acting to the kills, was top-notch, but they were islands of goodness surrounded by a painfully mediocre horror-comedy.
Set six years after Bride of Chucky, our protagonist is a doll named... well, they go by both "Glen" and "Glenda" (a shout-out to an Ed Wood camp classic) throughout the film and variously use male and female pronouns. I'm gonna go ahead and go with "Glen" and "they/them", since a big part of their arc concerns them figuring out their gender identity, and just as I've used gender-neutral pronouns in past reviews for situations where a character's gender identity is a twist (for instance, in movies where the villain's identity isn't revealed until the end), so too will I use them here. Anyway, we start the film with an English comedian using Glen as part of an "edgy" ventriloquist routine, fully aware that they're actually a living doll and abusing them backstage. When Glen, who knows nothing about where they came from except that they're Japanese (or at least have "Made in Japan" stamped on their wrist), sees a sneak preview on TV for the new horror film Chucky Goes Psycho, based on an urban legend surrounding a pair of dolls that was found around the scene of multiple murders, they think that Chucky and Tiffany are their parents, run off from their abusive owner, and hop on a flight to Hollywood to meet them. There, Glen discovers the Chucky and Tiffany animatronics used in the film and, by reading from the mysterious amulet they've always carried around, imbues the souls of Charles Lee Ray and Tiffany Valentine into them. Brought back to life, Chucky and Tiffany seek to claim human bodies, with Tiffany setting her eyes on the real Jennifer Tilly, who's starring in Chucky Goes Psycho, and Chucky setting his on the musician and aspiring filmmaker Redman, who's making a Biblical epic that Tilly wants the lead role in.
More than any prior film in the series, this is one in which the human characters are almost entirely peripheral. Chucky and Tiffany are credited as themselves on the poster, the latter above the actress who voices her, and they get the most screen time and development out of anybody by far, a job that Brad Dourif and Jennifer Tilly proved before that they can do and which they pull off once again here. Specifically, their plot, in addition to the usual quest to become human by transferring their souls into others' bodies, concerns their attempts to mold Glen/Glenda in their respective images. Chucky wants them to be his son, specifically one who's as ruthless a killer as he is, while Tiffany, who's trying not to kill anyone anymore (even if she... occasionally relapses), hopes to make them her perfect daughter. Their arguments over their child's gender identity are a proxy for the divide between them overall as people, building on a thread from Bride of Chucky implying that maybe theirs wasn't the true love it seemed at first glance but a toxic relationship that was never going to end well, especially since they never bothered to ask Glen what they thought about the matter. Glen is the closest thing the film has to a real hero, somebody who doesn't fit into the binary boxes that Chucky and Tiffany, both deeply flawed individuals in their own right, try to force them into, and series newcomer Billy Boyd did a great job keeping up with both Dourif and Tilly at conveying a very unusual character. Whenever the dolls are on screen, the film is on fire.
I found myself wishing the film could've just been entirely about them, because when it came to the humans, it absolutely dragged. As good as Tilly was as the voice of Tiffany, her live-action self here feels far more one-dimensional. We're told that she's a diva who mistreats her staff and sleeps with directors for parts, but this only comes through on screen in a few moments, as otherwise Tilly plays "Jennifer Tilly" as just too ditzy to come off as a real asshole. As for Redman, it's clear that he is not an actor by trade outside of making cameo appearances, as he absolutely flounders when he's asked to actually carry scenes as a sleazy filmmaker parody of himself. Supporting characters like Jennifer's beleaguered assistant Joan and her chauffeur Stan are completely wasted, there simply to pad the body count even when it's indicated (in Joan's case especially) that they were shaping up to be more important characters. There was barely any actual horror, to the point that it detracted from the dolls' menace. The satire of showbiz mostly amounts to cheap jabs at Julia Roberts, Britney Spears, and the casting couch, and barely connects to the main plot with the dolls, even though there was a wealth of ideas the filmmakers could've drawn on connecting Glen's quest to figure out their identity with the manner in which sexual minorities and other societal outcasts have historically gravitated to the arts. This was a movie that could've taken place anywhere, with any set of main human characters, and it wouldn't have changed a single important thing about it, such was how they faded into the background. At least the kills were fun, creative, and bloody, including everything from razor-wire decapitations to people's faces getting melted off with both acid and fire, and the fact that I didn't care about the characters made it easier to just appreciate the special effects work and the quality of the doll animatronics.
The Bottom Line
Seed of Chucky is half of a good movie and half of a very forgettable one, and one that I can only recommend to diehard Chucky fans and fans of queer horror, in both cases for the stuff involving the dolls. It's not the worst Chucky movie, but it's not particularly good either.

Bride of Chucky (1998) [4K UHD Review]
Bride of Chucky emerged at a time when the slasher genre was experiencing a decline in popularity. Its predecessor, Child’s Play 3, had received a lukewarm response from audiences and critics alike. However, this installment breathed new life into the franchise, embracing a self-awareness that revitalized the horror-comedy subgenre. With a clever script by Don Mancini, who also penned the…

My review of ScareFest is, wasn't terrible. Better than HorrorHound in that it was much bigger feeling, but they were sort of super disorganized. If you like horror it was probably a solid con but compared to any comic con I've been to, it was much much much smaller. Sadly, no artwork, all the vendors were mostly t-shirt people or just stuff. But it means I saved money! I also met and got David Arquette's autograph, my whole reason for going. And met Melinda Clarke who was in a horror movie or multiple (I don't know) but she was an antagonist in my favorite show, Nikita, we talked about how good it was and how nobody watched it. I blame my cousin for not being able to watch horror, she let me watch Chucky, the one where he's got a bride, when I was like 5 and I've been traumatized ever since. Scream is technically just about a serial killer, and I can do that, I love that but when something treads into supernatural scary type horror or just a bunch of gore, then I backout (yep, real world type of stuff I can deal with but the super fake stuff, nope! I know it doesn't make sense).
Luckily, he called me condescending in the complaint not to my face. If he had I probably would have laughed or smiled or really wanted to do those two and would have held them back and it would have come off as if I was smirking. Oh, right after I argued with him, I found my store manager and told him I argued with a guy and he instantly knew who and he kind of rolled his eyes at the guy and sighed so, he understood.
My friend got her game Friday and texts me "Almost done with the main story" then proceeds to say she hasn't slept and I'm just sitting there at dinner thinking I haven't even been home yet, so I don't even have it downloaded and she's out here finishing it. When I finally got it downloaded, I was all ready to play but then it said it was updating and would be 3 hours. So, it's all ready for me to play tomorrow.
I’m sorry, I wish that you would have had more fun at it :( hey, at least you got to save money!! Meeting David Arquette and getting his signature would have made my entire year, and I’m so happy that you got to meet him!! Having a relative allow you to watch horror movies at a young age is a canon event. I’m the same way with supernatural, it freaks me out too much
It’s good that he didn’t call you condescending to your face, but it would be pretty funny to have seen your reaction if he did. Not your boss knowing who the guy is 😭
YOUR FRIEND WAS ALMOST DONE WITH THE MAIN STORY LINE?!? THATS INSANE!! I hope that game is really fun, you’ve have to let me know if it is worth it <3
