It’s Monday and it means another Pro Tip from me. Today I want to share why skin preparation before makeup application is important. I hope you all know and follow simple skincare routine of washing, toning and moisturizing your face twice a day. It is very important to remove dead cells from the surface of your skin and face wash helps you do just that. Once you have cleaned the dirt, oil, or dead skin cells, toning is the next step and is necessary to replenish the skin. Toners help to close pores and tighten cell gaps after cleansing. This will reduce the penetration of impurities and environmental contaminants into the skin. It can even protect and remove chlorine and minerals present in tap water. Toner is also a first step in bring the moisture back in to the skin. After toner, apply serum and your daily moisturizer. This will help your skin to stay hydrated and will create a flawless canvas for further makeup application. Don’t forget to repeat these steps in the evening, after removing all the makeup. 💄 WHAT’s IN YOUR BRIDAL PURSE? 💄 Here are a few essentials you should think of having in your bridal purse that I am sure will come very handy for the touchups throughout the day. 🌺 Powder 🌺 A wedding day is a long celebration involving a lot of emotional moments, dancing, eating and drinking. It is almost inevitable that a shine will develop throughout the day, so it is important to have the right powder to control it. There are many powders available depending on your skin type and the finish you are after. - For luminous finish mineralized powders are the best. They will take away excess shine without making skin too matte. My favorites are M.A.C Mineralized Skinfinish and Laura Mercier CandleGlow Sheer Perfecting Powder. - For matte finish and full coverage try M.A.C Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation. It is a powder and a foundation two in one. It’s great for shine control and also extra coverage. - For shine control without texture change try Illamasqua Translucent Powder or regular blotting papers. 🌺 Lipliner and lipstick 🌺 This is probably one of the most important makeup items besides the powder. Make sure you know what lip products your makeup artist used to achieve the look and purchase them so you can reapply at any time. 🌺Extra Pins & Cotton Buds 🌺 It is the little things that are often overlooked. Having a small cotton bud can make all the difference. I always pop a few alongside with a few hair grips on my clients purse. And on the final note, try to remember to keep checking your hair and makeup throughout the day where possible. Photographs will be taken all around you without you even noticing, so it’s good to make sure makeup and hair are still in place. I know there are brides out there that have a specific type of style whether it's drop-waist a-line to fit and flare, but here's my advice: Try on EVERYTHING! From type of styles to types of fabric. There are some brides that love the mermaid style but when they actually try it on it doesn't work out. Some women who initially loved the mermaid style will actually look good on them, but you never know until you try. When it comes to fabrics, I'm sure you'll have an idea in your mind that you love a certain type of fabric but when you try on a dress that is made of that fabric, it doesn't quite work out the way you want it to. P.S. When browsing around in a bridal salon, the dress will ALWAYS look different on the hanger than it actually does when it's on someone.
