Finally got the server together, cracked open a few bottles of wine & whiskey at our various locations throughout the continent, and watched this piece of cinéma which has been making the rounds on tumblr. Spoiler alert: It's. SO GOOD
Highlights include:
Yugi's wig actively fighting for its life in every scene
Téa and Mai get to duel each other!!
Bandit Keith. REX. RAPTOR.
The guy who plays Kaiba puts his entire pussy into a frankly bang-on Eric Stuart impression. Also is clearly the cast member who has seen the anime the most times
The scene where you can visibly see the budget doubling. Joey's hair volume also abruptly doubles in this scene
The guy who plays Yugi uses his actual baby to play Baby Yugi (who is in the film for ???? reasons) and then properly credits the baby at the end
The words "Millennial Pieces" are uttered, and I won't tell you by whom
Server conjecture is that the Duel Monsters may have been modeled in Second Life
I swear to god this is barely even a fraction of spoilers. There's so much more. I didn't even get into Mokuba "Tommy Wiseau" Kaiba or....the whole thing Grandpa's got going on.
WATCH IT. It's free on Tubi and only 45min. The Millennial Pieces compel you

I saw this at Value Village almost ten years ago and bought it just to keep it out of sight.
I had posted it to my Facebook and on this site. So many people started exercising their thoughts against and for this little racist relic from yesteryear. I don’t like seeing stuff like this but so many people don’t get it. Some thought it was cute. Others knew the racist origins. Regardless, racism will never die, especially in my lifetime.
I couldn’t believe there was a set of these? I’m tossing this where it belongs.

Friend. Yes. Hello. It would mean a lot to me if you made it out to the Movie Club show at Bric-A-Brac Records tomorrow afternoon. It might even put a smile on my face 😁.
What is movie club? A comedy variety show. We do not show movies. We recreate em with stories and songs and all other manner of dumb shit. Tomorrow's theme is "My mom's favorite movie."

Oh my god I'm going to die laughing. I had that exact Kaiba/Shizuka page BOOKMARKED in 2003!!! Checked it every day like the morning news.
I have no idea of how interested people in here would be in this kind of stuff, but I recently started trying to find some old YGO websites on the Wayback Machine (like Geocities stuff from the very early 2000s plus some news sites and some peoples' personal blogs) and started putting some archive links to them on Fanlore!
It's not all of the ones I found, but I tried putting only ones that were still kinda readable (some had some stuff on WM but were too broken).
There is some cool stuff in there, I recomend some exploring to anyone who was in the fandom back then and wants to reminisce about it, or is just curious like me to see how people did fandom stuff before all fandoms kinda migrated to the same 7 sites.
Here are some pictures if anyone wants an idea of the kind of stuff you can find there:

This photo of the members of the Tiger Inn eating club ran in Princeton University’s Bric-a-Brac, an activities yearbook, in 1976. That year, the editors of the yearbook chose to exclude Black student groups like the Association of Black Collegians. In response, Joseph Strickland ‘77 wrote in a letter to the editor of the Daily Princetonian that was published May 26, 1976, “The idea of any number of black people being together is obviously repugnant to the picture of Princeton that the Bric is trying to portray. Mr. [Bill] Allen said that he didn’t think that ‘a yearbook should be a showcase for ethnically separated activities.’ However, much of the space in the Bric is taken up by photographs of all-white organizations. … The picture of Tiger Inn was not considered ‘ethnically separated’ even though it was all male and all white.”

💥 YOU HAVE ACTIVATED MY TRAP CARD!! 💥 Classical music AND yugioh by talos this can't be happening!!!
-Medieval: Look at me IN THE EYE BALLS and tell me Kaiba would not respect the hell out of Hildegard von Bingen, aka god's favourite bonkers polymath with balls of steel
-Renaissance: Overall this is not Kaiba's moment. I'm only putting this as a category because I think Gesualdo and Kaiba share a certain manic disturbed energy that would extremely resonate yes it's because of the murder
-Baroque: for those moods when his brain needs to be in focus mode. So like, yes, Bach, but also Scarlatti (cyborg mode baroque) & Rameau (dank baroque.)
-Classical: OP is correct!!!! ❌NO MOZART❌ that is not the vibe. Maybe the Requiem. Idk that there's a lot in this era for him...I'll put Schubert in here, even though he's pretty much exactly on the cusp lol. Erlkönig babey! -Romantic: Oh he would fuck so hard with this era. I can see him liking the more bombastic Beethoven stuff (Hammerklavier, Grosse Fugue, Eroica etc) and obvi some of Schumann's more unhinged repertoire. Tchaikovsky yes yes, probably Liszt and Berlioz in their more macabre phrases. Listen: Symphonie Fantasique. About a guy who gets extremely too obsessed with the object of his interest, takes a bunch of opium and launches himself through dimensions every level of hell. LISTEN.
-Modernist: This is his time. ARNOLD "MUSIC IS NUMBERS" SCHOENBERG. Charles Ives and his gnarly tone clusters. Stravinsky instigating riots. Shostakovich!! He would be like embarrassingly into Stockhausen. Ysaÿe for the drama. Also: Xenakis. The guy who used the statistical mechanics of Markov chains to write chamber music. <3
-As for 21st-century composers: Gubaidulina, Saariaho, Chin, Takemitsu. Probably some of Trifonov's Rachmaninoff stuff too. I like to think he would be a chad Caroline Shaw enjoyer, but in my heart I know he would be a virgin Hans Zimmer simp :(
Following my hc that Kaiba is a classical music connoisseur,
I chose those a bit inspired by his personality, I can't imagine him being a big fan of Mozart, but it is still very possible.
