the man who can't be moved
There's a new folktale in the city. If you take an elevator down in an abandoned set of apartments you'll find a man waiting there once you reach the bottom. No one knows why he's there. Most assume it's just because of the ways of the supernatural. But rumor has it that everytime the elevator comes down, people see him waiting there with an almost relieved and gleefull smile, until they step out the doors. Rumor has it that you see his face fall, seemingly on the verge of tears as he pushes whoever came down this time back into the elevator, as if they're not the one he's looking for.
No one knows why he waits there. There are some who think he's a guardian of the mysterious realm behind him, and others think he's just there to keep humans at bay. No one knows except you.
You, who abandoned the ghost that loved you with all his heart nearly 10 years ago now. You, who told him to wait so he wouldn't follow you back. You, who promised that you wouldn't leave him, just to get away from that hellish world and everything that connects you to it.
You, who despite knowing of the rumours, came back one night to the elevator through which you escaped through all those years ago. And although you were aware of what others said, that Mr Crawling was still waiting there after all these years, you still decided to go see for yourself.
The elevator reached the bottom with a soft ping, and the doors open to a miserable sight. He's there, as large and as messy as you remember, except there are tears dripping down his eyes as he sleeps, curled into a tiny ball. you can make out soft whimpers of your name, followed by a quiet 'sorry' and 'miss you', as if apologising for some unknown sin that made you leave. his hands are clutching onto your old clothes, ones that you thought Miss Bride had, but he'd clearly somehow gotten them from her.
And as much as your hated your time in this world, your hand reached out on impulse to pat his head, as if reassuring him it's not his fault. but what you didn't expect was for Mr Crawling to jump upwards as soon as you touched him. his body knocked you back into the elevator, and the look in his eyes was heartbreaking when he realised it was actually you
tears were streaming down from empty sockets, and you could see thick knots and lumps in his hair that you used to untangle when he was cuddling against you. his sobs echoed through the elevator as his body trapped yours, and you could just make out words from the soft cries
*sorry, sorry, sorry, no leave again please, cannot again, hurts much, cannot breathe, cannot think when no you*
*me do anything, please no leave, pleasepleasepleaseplease, sorry, so sorry, scared of cold, scared of hurt, hurt so much now, cannot again, willnot again...*
the way his hands gripped onto the back of your clothes, the way his body shook as he clung on, terrified of being abandoned again just showed how much he needed you. but you hated this world, and everything about it, including him. so this was your final curse against his love.
as the crowbar made contact with his head, Mr Crawling was out cold. tears frozen in his empty eyes, hands going limp around you. and this time you left for good. you took everything with you, the old clothes, the knots in his hair and his heart that was yours entirely.
he woke up nearly as soon as you left, standing up in a panic as he realised your presence was gone. but he slowly sat down again, taking comfort in the fact you were there. that you still remembered him. that if he waited long enough, you'd come back for him...right?
this rumour is now hundreds of years old. it's pretty much become a legend at this point. students and adults alike, seeking out this place for a dare or a test of courage do not come back alive now. some say the man they meet is a protector, trying to stop whatever chaos is contained in that realm from reaching the outside world. some say the man is a monster who eats humans to survive, and the legend was it's doing to make sure it had a steady food source.
but only those who manage to encounter Mr Crawling see the true reason for these murders. the dark eyebags underneath what would've been his eyes speak volumes of sadness and regret, and the way his skin clung onto his bones suggests he hasn't eaten for ages. they see memories of an intense love flash through their minds, a new way of communication Mr Crawling had developed over the years waiting for you. since you loved communication right? these deaths are his way of vengenance for your betrayal, but even though he thinks he hates you now, he cannot sleep without realizing the truth.
He will never stop waiting. he knows you've moved on ages ago but he cannot bring himself to accept that you're gone. he will still whispers your name in his sleep, no matter how many centuries have passed.
Mr Crawling is waiting for his heart to be returned to him, and he will keep on waiting no matter how much time may pass.
because for you, he will always be waiting in front of that flickering green light, hoping that the next time those doors open, it will be you once again.

We broke up a month ago Your friends are mine, you know, I know You've moved on, found someone new One more girl who brings out the better in you
You sat blankly at the table, a cup of tea in your hands. It was cold from being left untouched for so long. Across from you, your best friend, Mark, looked at you with pity and exasperation.
"Come on, y/n. Please drink it. Or eat something. Should I order something?" His eyes sparkled and he leaped up from the bed. "We could go and try the new combo at the fried chicken restaurant down the street! Jeno went there a few days ago; he said it was the best thing he's ever had."
You let out a small shrug, trying to smile. Mark could see right through you, and the light in his eyes died.
"Y/n, how long are you going to keep moping over him? He's a piece of trash. Leave him and forget about it."
You felt tears flooding into your eyes. Again. You tried not to let them spill, but you couldn't help it and just started crying against Mark's chest for the millionth time this week.
"How could he move on so quickly, Mark? Three years. Three whole years of us and all our memories, and he found a new girl in less than a week. It's pathetic, isn't it? The fact that I can't get over him and he's hooking up with another chick not even a few days after we called it quits." You sniffled into his arms.
Mark let out a sigh, almost at the verge of tears himself. He never knew that Taeyong could just leave behind his entire past in such a quick time. It had shocked all of them, honestly, that their friend could be such a horrible person.
"I know, y/n. I know." He let you cry your pain away, at least temporarily, coaxing you by speaking soft words into your ears, stroking your hair. If he could hide the truth, he would've in an instant. But everyone was connected. You, Taeyong, Mark, all the members were best friends. There was no way that you couldn't have known. Even after you and Taeyong had broken up, you still remained in touch with the rest of the 22 boys. Your bond with them was so close that you would never be able to just leave them because of the breakup. Of course, Mark had expected you to find out, but he was hoping to stall the time for at least a few more days. Everything had been going fine until Haechan had opened his big fat mouth and told you that Taeyong was with another girl. Though you pretended to be fine at the time, you began to sob as soon as you set foot in your apartment.
After you'd finished weeping for the day, Mark helped hoist you up. "Come on, y/n. You've got this. Let's go try the new chicken, hm?" He grabbed your hand, ignoring your protests, and shoved you out the door.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And I thought my heart was detached From all the sunlight of our past But she's so sweet, she's so pretty Does she mean you forgot about me?
As soon as you entered the chicken restaurant, you wanted to exit as fast as you'd come in. But Mark didn't see. He didn't see him. And though you tried to protest and quickly whisper that Taeyong was in the same shop as you two were, Mark ignored all of it, thinking that you were paranoid of being outside for the first time in five days. And by the time his and Taeyong's eyes met, there was nothing he could do.
"Will this table be alright?" The waitress asked, breaking the intensity of Mark's glare.
"Huh? Oh, um, yeah I guess. Thanks." He quickly turned to you. "You wanna leave? We can if you want."
You hesitated, considering it. It hurt to see Taeyong again, and especially with his new girl. He looked so... okay. Unfazed, laughing at the girl's words, smiling like he was in love all over again. But leaving would look weak now.
"No. Let's just stay." You said, looking down at the menu. You couldn't stand to see Taeyong's huge smile, which wasn't in your direction. Mark looked surprised, but he obliged, not wanting to have you starve for another day.
After you'd ordered, you couldn't help but steal glances at the new couple. They were so perfect. She was absolutely beautiful. You could simply tell by looking at her backside. Her posture was straight, she had gorgeous dark hair, and she had such fair complexity. It wasn't fair. You looked down at yourself, wishing you'd tidied yourself up a bit more before coming here.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh, I hope you're happy But not like how you were with me I'm selfish, I know, I can't let you go So find someone great, but don't find no one better I hope you're happy, but don't be happier
When the chicken came out, you honestly almost forgot about Taeyong altogether. Jeno had been right; it was the most delicious thing you'd ever tasted. You began to feel relaxed again, and more like yourself. You almost forgot about everything that had happened earlier this week. Almost.
"Oh, excuse me." Cold water spilled on your lap, accidentally knocked down by someone's bag, and a pair of hands quickly began to grab napkins from the table and help you wipe off. You looked up to see a beautiful girl, looking apologetic as she hurriedly soaked the tissues with water.
Your heart stilled for a second when you looked behind her to see Taeyong's frozen frame. The two of you didn't look away until the girl straightened up and bowed down to you.
"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to spill the water. I'm very sorry again." You managed to give her a half-hearted smile.
"It's okay, it's not your fault." It's not your fault that Taeyong left me for you.
The girl let out an embarrassed, apologetic smile and held out a hand. "I'm Siyeon, by the way. Nice to meet you."
You tried to smile again but failed miserably. Instead, you shook her hand. "Y/n. This is my friend, Mark."
Mark, who had been glaring daggers at Taeyong, looked away for a few seconds and shook Siyeon's hand as well. Siyeon stepped back and gazed up at Taeyong adoringly.
"This is my boyfriend, Taeyong." She smiled softly, and then looked embarrassed when he didn't say anything. "Yongie..." She muttered.
Taeyong shook his head. "Yes, sorry." He seemed uncertain as of what to say. He cleared his throat. "I- nice to see you again, y/n. You too, Mark."
Siyeon looked surprised. "You all know each other?"
You shrugged a little. "Just a bit. Mark and Taeyong work together, so I've come across him a few times."
Siyeon laughed. "Oh, that's nice. Yongie, why didn't you tell me? We could've had a friendly dinner together." She slapped his chest playfully and turned back to the two of you. "I'm glad to have met you, y/n, Mark. Hopefully, we can grab a bite to eat together next time." She took Taeyong's hand and started towards the door. "Let's meet again sometime! Text Taeyong to let us know." She waved, and in an instant, the couple left.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope you're happy I wish you all the best, really Say you love her, baby, just not like you loved me And think of me fondly when your hands are on her I hope you're happy, but don't be happier
You didn't know how to feel. You wanted to hate Siyeon's guts. You wanted to hate them. You wanted to remove  Siyeon from the picture so you could have Taeyong to yourself again.
But you couldn't. Siyeon was so kind, beautiful, and charming. She had the aura that dragged people in, and in some way, you understood how Taeyong had gone to her as soon as the two of you had quit.
Mark, on the other hand, was venting. He wouldn't stop arguing about how horrible Taeyong was, and how you never deserved him. He only stopped fuming when he dropped  you off at your apartment door and made you promise that you would be okay. After that, he left, and you turned back to your home.
"Hey."
You screamed as you threw your bag at whoever was standing in the dark. There was a scuffle, the sound of the bag hitting the person squarely in the chest, and glass shattering as things were knocked over.
"No, stop! It's me --ow-- it's me, y/n! Taeyong! Lee Taeyong!" Just as you were about to throw your book at him, the lights switched on and Taeyong lay there on the floor, looking half-dead. He winced as he pulled himself up, careful not to touch any of the broken glasses.
"T-taeyong? What are you doing here?" You asked, surprised and on the verge of breaking down again.
He ruffled his hair sheepishly. "I thought I owed you an apology."
"Oh." You replied, unsure of what to say. Your heart ached and beat a thousand times faster as awkward silence filled the air.
"I-I'm sorry, y/n." Taeyong blurted out. "I never cheated on you, I promise. I would never. I did meet Siyeon when we were dating, but I didn't think much of it until our breakup; and it wasn't any flirty, romantic relationship. She just... she was just the right person for me later." He nervously tapped his foot on the floor. "I-I guess I just wanted to tell you that I'm sorry. I really loved you and I hope you don't misunderstand and think I cheated on you."
Every word made your heart ache. Loved. Right person. I'm sorry.
You tried your best to put on a strong face. "It's fine, Taeyong. I know you wouldn't cheat. And besides, you have nothing to apologize for. Siyeon is a wonderful person... and I'm happy for you. Really."
Taeyong let out a relieved sigh, and you could almost see the burden of the news lifting off of his shoulders. You tried to smile, and it must've worked, because Taeyong walked over and gave you a light, awkward hug. "Thanks for being so understanding, y/n. I'm glad we got to have this talk."
"Yeah, me too," You croaked out, hoping there weren't any tears in sight. You slightly pushed him off and watched as he let out a soft, sad smile.
"Thanks again, y/n. I'll see you around." With that, he was gone.
You looked out the window and watched as he walked out of the building and into a black car. The smile on his face was not gone unnoticed, huge and beaming as he smiled at Siyeon, who was sitting in the driver's seat. You finally felt a tear dripping down your face, a hand on the window, as the two drove off together in the cold night.
I hope you're happy, but don't be happier

Fix it fic, set 3 months after the breakup. This one is going to get pretty deep, and borderline messy, emotionally. It is mostly Maggie's perspective. Things from the show will be referenced, but mostly the material here will be post split. Channeling a lot of post break up feelings that are often not spoken about with this one too. If anything feels out of character for Maggie, it is intended, and will be remedied- or at least explained.
