Breakfast at Café Mayer
Café Mayer is not a coffee house you would visit if you do not live there. It’s far up in the 18th district, not really in walking distance from anything else. Recently I read though that all this was about to change since the bakery has a new chef and now offers delicious lunch menus. Since they also have breakfast I needed to see that for myself. The café is tugged away in a corner, the garden…

Breakfast at Kutsch
Kutsch is a relatively new restaurant around the already popular Kutschkermarkt in Vienna. Nonetheless I already made it there for dinner twice. The food was good both times, so when I read that Kutsch also offered breakfast I had to go see it for myself. At the early hour we arrived Kutsch was still empty, but little by little the restaurant filled up. entry room @Kutsch back room @Kutsch For…

Eggs Benedict in Vienna (Part 2)
As I told you before, testing and tasting Eggs Benedict (or some kind of variations of it) in Vienna is a work in progress. I am glad to say that sometimes I manage to eat something else for breakfast, but mostly it is the aforementioned eggs. They can get a bit overwhelming, especially since I am still looking for the perfect ones. In any case, here are new places I have found which serve this…

Breakfast at Café Himmelblau
Breakfast at Café Himmelblau
Café Himmelblau opens on Saturday at 8m and doesn’t take any reservations on that day. I figured arriving at 9am would give me the edge to choose a nice table looking out over the Kutschkermarkt in the 18th district. But far from it. Café Himmelblau was packed already and I only snatched a table in the garden room. So no people watching on this day, instead it was full concentration on my…

Breakfast at Café Schopenhauer
Breakfast at Café Schopenhauer
The Café Schopenhauer is your typical Viennese coffeehouse and looks exactly what one expects from a coffeehouse in Vienna. Except that it also has a small bookshop inside which made it instantly more attractive to me. This is a place where you feel comfortable right away, it’s light and airy, with a certain homely appeal due to the large upholstery furniture. the bookshop within @Café…

Breakfast at Aumann
The 18th district in Vienna is not really blessed with a lot of restaurants or breakfast places. So one has to make do with what’s available. Like the Aumann. The name derives from the location where the restaurant is situated. After the last restaurant failed, the new owners still liked the name so much that they kept it. Apparently there is nothing like bad press.
We met for breakfast on a…
