Fresh Start | Draco Malfoy x Reader
hey, this was inspired partially by someones shifting experience. pls let me know if you want me to continue this, and share ideas if you have. also let me know if any of it is kinda bad. critique me!
words: 2.3k
warnings: violence n mean draco
You were a very popular Gryffindor in year 6. You had managed to befriend all the right people from the other houses, and most of the teachers adored you and how much you reminded them of your mother. Everyone loved you.
Everyone except one.
“Oi! L/N!” Draco shouted, chasing after you as you ran out of potions class.
You were fuming, your eyes narrowed to angry slits and your lips pursed. The entire school knew to stay out of your way when you had that look on your face. Except Draco Malfoy. “Look at me when I talk to you!” Draco grabbed your arm, pulling you to face him.
You had just reached the top of the stairs as he spun you around, and you almost tripped down them. You glared fiercely at Draco, and snapped your arm out of his grasp. “Do I look like I’m in the mood to talk to you, Malfoy?!”
“I don’t give a bloody damn if you’re in the mood to talk to me.” He glared back at you with equal fire. “You screwed up my grade, you stupid wench. Screw up like that again and the whomping willow will have do with you!”
An uncontrollable rage grew in your stomach, and you grit your teeth. “Damn the whomping willow!” You shouted, fists balled at your side. “And damn you, Malfoy! All you care about is yourself. I’m so tired of dealing with you, bloody selfish prick! Can’t you just find someone else to piss off for once, you BRAT!”
You were screaming by the end of your rant, and a crowd of students had formed to watch you two argue. This wasn’t a rare occurrence, but it got worse with every passing day.
Draco was enraged by your words and shrilling voice, he reached his hands out to grab your shoulders and push you down the stairs behind you. You gasped at your sudden loss of balance, and grabbed Draco’s wrist. The stairs began to move to the other side of the hall as you stumbled, and you two went tumbling to the landing on the other side of the hall. You cried out of pain, you had definitely received a lot of new bruises and as Draco landed on you, you thought you broke a few ribs.
With the unresolved anger issues you possessed, you rolled to be on top of Draco and began throwing the punches your mother had taught you in case of situations like this. “I’m gonna kill you, Malfoy!” You screamed, your hands wrapped around his throat.
Draco spun you over and punched you with his right fist. You gasped at the feeling of his cold metal rings colliding with your skin. “Not if I kill you first, L/N!”
The fight became more violent as the seconds passed, neither of you remembering you had magic powers. None of the students watching dared get between the feral teenagers.
Finally, McGonagall and Snape appeared, tearing the two apart. “What on EARTH is going on here?!” Snape boomed, bringing the pair back to reality.
“He pushed me-”
“She punched me-”
“SILENCE!” McGonagall exclaimed, her grip on you tightening. “I don’t even know where I’m going to start with you two!”
In McGonagall’s classroom, Draco and you sat in two chairs next to each other. Your uniforms were ruffed, and both of you had blood pooling from various parts of your faces. You had your tie shoved to your bloody nose, and Draco was holding his black eye.
Snape and McGonagall were shouting.
When they had finally released you to the infirmary, your task was to walk together in a civilized manner. Your adrenaline had worn off, and you weren’t that angry anymore. The exhaustion and dizziness made you realize you probably had a concussion.
“You’re such an idiot, L/N.” Draco, on the other hand, was still fuming.
You rolled your eyes, shoving your hands into your pockets. “Merlin, just shut up for once, Malfoy. My head is spinning enough, I don’t need your bloody voice ringing in my ears anymore.”
Draco grit his teeth. “You’re not so innocent, and everyone knows now. Everyone knows the monster you really are.”
Your eyes snapped up to glare at him. “Shut it, daddy’s boy. Just because you don’t get enough attention at home doesn’t mean you can go searching for it everywhere else. I’m just as tired of you as your parents are.” You paused, raising a hand to your eyes. “Shit,”
Draco stared at you, wondering how the hell you had the nerve to keep saying stuff like that to him. He was still fuming, and hardly noticed your paling face. “At least my father loves me enough to stick around, can’t say the same for yours. Wasn’t he declared dead a few days ago?
“Draco-” You tried interrupting, your vision going fuzzy. You struggled to move.
“Must be a shame to be known as the girl with a dead father and a crazy bitch of a mother.”
You shoved your arm out to grab his sleeve. “I-”
With a short start to a sentence, you were down. Draco hardly managed to catch you as your legs gave out. “L/N?” He questioned, watching your eyes roll back and your mouth fall open. He bent his ear to your mouth, feeling you breathing ever so softly. “Bloody hell,” he sighed, wincing as he tossed you over his sprained shoulder.
Madame Pomfrey exclaimed when she saw Draco rush in with you. “Set her there!” She pointed to the closest empty bed. Draco set you down as gently as he could. “Draco, what happened?!”
“W-We were doing fine, just walking. Well, we got into a fight, obviously. We also fell down the stairs.” A tinge of guilt pang through him as he watched Pomfrey dab the welts on your face from his rings. “She just collapsed. I think she said something about being dizzy.”
“She must be concussed,” Pomfrey furrowed her brows with worry. “This is very bad. She might not wake up.”
Draco’s eyes widened and he took a step back. “What do you mean she might not wake up?”
“It’s very risky to fall asleep with a concussion, and if she just collapsed, that’s a very bad sign. She may have slipped into a coma.” Pomfrey sighed, beginning to take your vitals. “All I can do right now is examine her until she wakes up.”
Draco turned and sprinted out of the room, the overwhelming feeling to get away from your unconscious body was uncontrollable. “Draco!” Pomfrey yelled. “I still need to patch you up!”
Everyone had gone to visit you in bed, everyone except Draco Malfoy.
One day, late in the afternoon, Draco walked into the infirmary. He almost had to walk back out. He never thought he could hold so much guilt for someone he once despised to the core.
Your bruises had almost healed, they were just yellow spots littering your pale skin. He sat in the chair that was always besides your bed, and glanced over your still figure. You hadn’t moved in weeks. It was completely his fault. “L/N…” He began softly, shifting his gaze to his bruised knuckles. “I’m sorry.” He’d spent days trying to justify his actions, trying to shift the blame to you, but he just couldn’t anymore.
Madame Pomfrey was alerted by a crash in the main room. She raced out of her office to see that the bed which occupied you for two weeks was empty. “Y/N?” Pomfrey called out, rushing over to find you curled fearfully on the floor and Draco stepping away from you.
Tears streaking down your cheeks, you looked up. “W-Where am I? Where’s my mother?!” You cried, scooting yourself against the wall. “Who are you people?! MOTHER!” You cried out, sinking in on yourself.
“Y/N, Y/N, my dear!” Madame Pomfrey crouched down a few feet in front of you. “My name is Madame Pomfrey, I’m the matron at Hogwarts. You recognize Hogwarts, don’t you, darling?”
“H-Hogwarts?” You questioned, lowering your hands from your face. Your gaze flickered between Pomfrey and Draco. “Am I at Hogwarts?”
“Yes, sweetheart. You had an incident and fell into a concussion coma for a few weeks. It seems you have a bit of amnesia as well.” Pomfrey frowned at you and stood back up. “Can I examine you, my dear?”
“Who is he?” You asked, pointing at Draco.
“That’s Draco Malfoy. He was just visiting you, a lot of people have been visiting you since your accident.” Pomfrey motioned Draco toward you. “Be useful and help her up.”
You looked at Draco suspiciously, but allowed him to help you stand up. Your legs were incredibly weak after not being used for two weeks, and he did most of the work getting you back onto the bed.
Madame Pomfrey immediately began to examine you. You continued to stare at Draco, who’s eyes were pinned to the floor. “We must be friends, if you were visiting me.” You stated, watching him shift nervously. “Go get me something to eat, my stomach hurts.”
Draco’s eyes shot up at you, and he started to back away from your bed. “I don’t think-”
“Please,” You cut him off, grasping his hand to keep him from leaving. Your eyes begged him. “Can you please get me something to eat?”
Draco nodded, continuing to avoid your eyes. “What would you like?”
“Something soft, easy to chew. Maybe even soup.”
“Soup would be the best choice.” Pomfrey pitched in, peering into your throat.
“Okay, I’ll be back soon.” Draco cleared his throat and swiftly left the room. As he walked to the dining hall, his mind was running a mile a minute.
How can she not remember me? Does she not remember anything about the fight? Does she not remember anything about our relationship, or lack thereof? Does she remember anything about Hogwarts? Did I really muck up this bad?
“My mother, she’s still traveling, right?” You questioned Madame Pomfrey. “I’m starting to remember a little. She taught here at some point, correct?”
“Yes, Y/N.” Madame Pomfrey smiled, peering over your stoic expressions. “She taught in your third year. Do you recall which class it was?”
“Herbology, I remember taking it with Harry and Ron, and this other girl… I don’t fully remember.”
After a few more questions, Madame Pomfrey came to a conclusion. “Well, it seems your amnesia is only temporary. Once I release you, Y/N, you must return if you find yourself unable to recall certain things, or have lasting pain.” She placed a hand on your shoulder and rubbed gently. “You seem to be healing well, but you’ll need to stretch carefully, you haven’t moved in over two weeks.”
Draco returned to the room, looking incredibly suspicious. He exposed a thermos with soup from under his robe. “Here,” He handed you the thermos and a spoon. “It’s mushroom.”
You lit up with joy. “I love mushrooms! Thank you, Draco.” You beamed at him, quickly taking the cup from his hands.
Draco was shocked to see you smile at him like that, you had never done it before. You’d been enemies from the moment you met. “Y-Yeah, whatever.” He plopped into the chair next to your bed to contemplate on telling you the truth.
Madame Pomfrey came around with a wheelchair. “Draco, if she needs to go anywhere, you’ll take her in this. She’s not quite ready to walk long distances on her own yet.”
Draco shot up from his seat, brows furrowed. “Why do I have to take her around. Can’t the mudblood do it?!”
Pomfrey glared at Draco. “It is part of your punishment for the incident. Do you want to take care of the girl you hurt so badly or do you want three months of detention? It’s your decision, Draco.”
Pomfrey walked off, leaving Draco and you alone. You looked up at him, a tinge of anger in your eyes. “Huh, so it’s your fault I was in a coma.” You fisted his robe and yanked him toward you. “I think you owe me some explanations, right now.”
“Serves you right to have to babysit me.” You laughed, leaning into the pillows behind you. “You almost killed me, you psychopath. You need some community service.”
“It wasn’t like that, Y/N. You were psychotic too!” Draco exclaimed, laughing softly with you. “Oh, if a teacher had heard the things you said to me, you would’ve been forced to write lines until your hands bled.”
“Yeah, yeah, you’re still the one that shoved me down the stairs!”
“You threw the first punch!”
“You slapped me with your dumb metal rings!”
“You gave me a black eye!”
You narrowed your eyes at him, disregarding everything you just said. “Anyway, I only forgive you because you’re hot.”
Draco gaped at you. “You are a completely different person without your memories.”
You laughed, “that’s kind of how it works, Draco.”
“I-I mean, we were enemies. We loathe each other. You would’ve eaten dirt before ever calling me hot.” He stared at you suspiciously. “There’s no way you don’t remember.”
“I really don’t. I only really remember two other people in all of Hogwarts so far. Pomfrey said I should be regaining my memories… So we’ll see if I still like you in a few days. But for now, I guess we get a fresh start.”

Little Darling | Carol Danvers x Reader
something short and sweet! please give requests if you see this and want more!
words: 418
warning: death and angst
“Hey, hey, just hold on. Just a little longer okay? Y/N? Y/N, can you hear me? Open your eyes, please!”
You opened your eyes slowly, the blinding light above you burned. “Carol,” you smiled a bit, your eyes landing on your blonde friend’s worried eyes. “What happened?”
Carol sighed, blinking so the tears wouldn’t flow out. She looked down at the wound in your stomach. “Y/N, honey, I just need you to hold on. Can you do that for me? Can you stay awake?”
Your hearing faded out for a second and you winced as the ringing became louder. Faintly, you could hear Carol screaming. “Someone get a medic over here, please!”
“Danvers, we need you out here!”
“Okay, okay! Damnit,” Carol sighed, looking back down at your paling face. Tears now flooded down her cheeks.
“Why the long face, princess?” You smiled a bit, reaching out your shaky and bloody hand to cup Carol’s face. “I’m gonna be okay. I can’t even feel the pain anymore. You go save the world okay?”
“Y/N..” Carol whimpered, trying to contain a sob.
“I gotta tell you something.” You spoke softly, your head feeling light. “I’ve had a crush on you since we first met. I need you to know that before I-“
“You are NOT gonna die!” Carol shouted, turning her head back to the chaos of the battle. “PLEASE! Anyone, a medic, please!”
“Hey, it’s okay.” You tried to smile, a couple of tears leaking from the corners of your eyes. You grasped Carol’s hand. “Save the world for me, princess. It’s the only thing I-I’ll ask of you.”
“Y/N, please, I can’t-“
“You can. You will.” You squeezed Carol’s hand as tight as you could. “I love you, sweet girl. Don’t stop fighting. Please.”
“I’m gonna come back for you, when I finish this.” Carol insisted, wiping the tears and squeezing your hand in return. “This isn’t goodbye. Just hold on a little longer. Please.”
“I’m not gonna make it, Carol.” Your eyes watered more, and you held down a sob. “Please, d-don’t let me die alone.”
Carol laid down beside you, pressing her forehead to the side of your head, so her mouth was right by your ear. “Little darling, it’s been a long cold lonely winter. Little darling, it’s seems like years since we've been here.”
“Here comes the sun,” You sang back weakly. “Here comes the sun, and I say, it’s alright..” Your eyes fell shut as your hand went limp in Carol’s grasp.

Teenager In Love
Hey guys, enjoy this short story I wrote. It’s kind of cliche but just to help me get back into the groove of things. If you guys like it maybe I will write a part 2, or make it like a mini series. pls comment any suggestions or ideas, and feel free to send me requests or ask for a commission! ty for your time.
"Ugh," Lily groaned. "Why must I be a teenager in love?"
“I have something to tell you.” Lily stated, her voice level and calm. She had planned this to go as smoothly as possible, just state the fact of Lily's irrational feelings, and move on! A two step process.
Claire smirked instantly, her eyes narrowing as she feigned a swoon. “Ooo! Are you about to profess your undying love for me?” She grinned at Lily, throwing an arm around her friend's shoulders. "I thought this day would never come!"
Lily's eyes widened and suddenly, she was sweating in every crevices. How could she guess it exactly?! “Yes, I am.” Lily blurted, her eyes shooting up to look at Claire.
Claire's smile didn't drop, but turned nervous. “.....What?”
"Why did I say that, idiot, idiot, IDIOT!" Lily exclaimed, to herself. She paced her room back and forth, almost ripping her hair out in distress.
"Woooahh, what's going on in here?"
Lily turned around to see her best friend, Jacey, standing in her doorway. "I told Claire I like her."
Jacey's eyes widened, "Are you serious?! What happened?" She moved to sit down on the bed and pulled Lily to sit down next to her. "You have to tell me everything in extreme detail!"
"I'm not gonna do that, Jacey." Lily sighed, holding her head in her hands. "It is so embarrassing. I had it all planned out, it would be calm and mature. I wouldn't get nervous because I had planned exactly what I was going to say!" Lily sat up, looking at Jacey with distress. "I told her I had something to tell her and she said Are you about to profess your UNDYING love for me? I freaked!"
Jacey's jaw dropped, then she burst into laughter. "Oh my gods! She totally called it!"
"IT'S NOT FUNNY, J!" Lily shouted, shooting up from her bed and turning to glare at her best friend. "I just said yes! Then the bell rang and I RAN AWAY!" Lily shoved her hands into her hair and squeezed her eyes shut. "It was so embarrassing! She wasn't supposed to say that. Then she just looked at me, and said What? In a kind of disappointed voice. I'm so heartbroken over my failed plan, it was supposed to be simple!"
"You're heartbroken over your planned convo not working out and not the fact that you two left each other hanging?!" Jacey exclaimed, staring at Lily in disbelief. "You're more cold than I thought!"
"I don't care if she left me hanging! I only wanted to tell her to resolve tension and acknowledge my feelings and lack of desire to pursue anything." Lily began to pace her room again. "I can't face her again, I just have to ignore her for the next six months."
Jacey stood from the bed and whipped out her phone. "Absolutely not, Lillian. I'm texting her right now."
“Jacey Fletcher, you better not. I will kill you. I will never forgive you and no one would ever find your body.” Lily declared, her voice steady and empty of emotion. “I don’t want anything to do with that girl!”
“That’s too bad, isn’t it?” Jacey blew a raspberry at Lily and continued to tap at her phone. “I’m inviting Claire to go bowling with us and Avery on Saturday. Don’t make plans that day.”
Lily glared daggers at Jacey. “What if I do?”
“Then you will simply not go to them.”
Lily rolled her eyes, turning to lay back on her bed. Her purple hair splaying itself around her. “I hate you. Why are you doing this to me? I told her before winter break so I could avoid her for two weeks with no effort! You are the worst support system.”
Jacey sighed, laying down next to her best friend. “Even if you don’t end up romantically involved with Claire, you still make another friend, Lily. She seems like your type of friend, she’s nerdy but still cute. She’s a little excitable but hey look at me! And we’re best friends!” Jacey nudged Lily’s shoulder. “It’ll be good to hang out with someone new and not just go back and forth between our two houses for the break.”
“Maybe,” Lily grumbled. “I think I’m fine with just you and Avery.”
“We all have to branch out. And if you really don’t like her, you’re leaving this summer anyway!” Jacey feigned a sob. “To that fancy schmancy D.C. college. You traitor.”
“It’s only like two hours away, stop it.” Lily shoved her best friend’s shoulder, causing Jacey to erupt in laughter. “If Saturday doesn’t go well, I’m not seeing her for the rest of the break, no matter what you try!”
“Okay, deal!” Jacey sat up, holding her hand out to shake Lily’s. “Our fate and friendship is in the hands of Saturday afternoon, and the gods.”
Lily shook Jacey’s hand. “I agree, minus the gods part.”
Jacey rolled her eyes. “Wanna play call of duty?!”

She’s My Wife | Loki x Avenger!Reader
based off of: nothing it’s just an idea that came into my head after rewatching the avengers movies
words: 727
warnings: violence, angst, kinda shitty writing since i did write this at 2 am
“Loki.” You breathed, your eyes falling on the god that was firmly planted into the floor of the Stark Tower. You dropped the piece of shrapnel you’d used as a shield and ran over to him. You slid on your knees to land beside him. His wide, shock filled eyes moved to look at you.
“Y/N,” he whispered, so quietly you almost didn’t hear it.
You placed your hand on his cheek, your eyes leaking with tears. “My love, what have you done?”
“Am I hallucinating?” He wheezed, trying to sit up.
You pushed him back into the ground. “Stay down. And no, you’re not.” You wiped the tears from your cheeks and stood up. Your hands trembled as you extended your arm, pointing a gun in his face. “You always asked me where I came from. This is it.” You laughed, trying to ignore the tears wanting to spill over again. “This is my home, everything I fight for, everything I love and you, the one person I love, are burning it to the ground.”
You watched Loki’s eyebrows raise, his eyes widening with the weight of what he had done. “Y/N,” he spoke again, trying to sit up. You pushed his shoulder down with your foot.
“Loki, please.” You begged, sniffling. You knew Loki hated to see her cry. “Don’t make this any harder for me than it already is.”
“I just wanted to be king.” He said, his eyes not leaving your tear stained face. His heart clenched at the sight of it.
“And I wanted to be your queen.” You breathed, trying to calm yourself. You pressed your foot farther on his shoulder, making him wince. You closed your eyes for a moment and when they opened, they were cold and dark. “But not like this.”
At the sound of glass crunching under a boot, you spun around. You stepped between Loki and the intruder, your gun raised and eyes glaring. You realized it was the other Avengers quickly, but kept your gun raised for a moment. You contemplated putting it down. That would risk one of them possibly harming Loki even further. Yet, these were your allies. What would they think of you defending the enemy?
“Agent L/N.” Steve’s voice was clear and brought you back to reality. You realized you’d spent a second too long pondering your decision.
You lowered your gun hesitantly but kept it in your hand. “Loki’s not going anywhere.” You said, your eyes focused on the slightly confused gazes of your allies.
You felt Loki’s arms wrap around you and a knife against your neck. “Not so fast, darling,” Loki smirked slightly as he looked over at the Avengers, who now had their weapons raised.
You sighed loudly and rolled your eyes. You flicked the knife away with your powers and dug it into Loki’s arm. When he released you with a yelp, you spun around and dug your knee into his stomach. As he stumbled back, you pulled a Natasha and twisted with your thighs around his head. You landed kneeling on the ground with his face down on it. You put the gun you still held against the back of his head. “I told you not to make this harder for me, my love.”
You stood up, pocketing your gun and leaving a stunned Loki on the floor. “You are already in the doghouse for turning my city into a battleground. Don’t dig yourself further into the hole.”
Loki turned onto his back, chest heaving.
“Is there some history we should know about, L/N?” Tony questioned, eyebrows raised as he stepped forward.
You sighed, placing your hand on your hip. “He’s my idiot.” You said, at the same time Loki said, “she’s my wife.”
The team's jaws nearly hit the ground collectively. “She’s your what?”
Thor walked forward, clearly tired of waiting to get his hands on Loki. “Yes, Lady Y/N and Loki are married.” Loki winced as Thor harshly lifted him up.
“Via Asgard, obviously.” You shrugged as if it was no deal. You looked at Natasha. “That’s where I’ve been disappearing to for the past two years and six years before we met.”
“How-“ Steve stopped himself, closing his eyes. “No. Enough crazy for one day. Let’s talk about this later.”
You all simultaneously agreed and moved on.

Secret | Loki x Reader
based off: Loki x Reader who are dating in secret but one of the avengers finally decides to figure out where he’s sneaking off to at night and discovered them??
words: 904
warnings: a bad word
a/n: I hope this don’t suck
“Loki’s being weird.”
“He’s always being weird, Natasha.” Steve replied, not looking up from the newspaper in his hands.
Natasha walked around the table to stand next to him and snatched the paper away. “He’s being extra weird.” She paused, looking over at the other’s sat at the table who were watching the interaction. Bucky and Wanda. “He keeps smiling.”
“She’s right, I saw him laugh at his phone the other day.” Bucky piped in, leaning back in his seat and crossing his arms. “I’ve never seen him laugh before.”
“See!” Natasha pointed at Bucky. “Barnes noticed. I bet he’s doing something evil, we should investigate.”
Steve scoffed, lightly rolling his eyes. “Come on, Nat. I know you don’t trust him-”
“Guys!” Bruce exclaimed, rushing into the room. “Loki just walked passed me and said have a nice night. Was that some kind of code? A curse? Am I going to die?”
“He’s probably just being nice.” Steve insisted, standing up from his seat to move to the connecting kitchen. “People change, you know.”
“Yes, but not this drastically,” Wanda said, also standing to her feet. “I agree with Natasha. He’s completely changed. Are we sure that it’s actually him?”
Bucky looked up at Bruce. “Dr. Banner, was Loki going to his room?”
Bruce thought for a moment before shaking his head. “No, he was heading for the elevators. You think he’s going somewhere?”
Natasha pursed her lips for a moment. “Only one way to find out.” She raced out into the hall and toward the elevators, Wanda and Bucky hot on her heels.
“Nat!” Steve called after her, sighing when she didn’t stop. He looked over at Bruce, who quickly shook his head.
“I’m not involved in this. I don’t wanna fall farther on Loki’s shitlist.” Bruce said, turning and making his way back to the lab.
Steve groaned, knowing he’d have to go after them on his own. Luckily, he already knew where Loki would be going.
Your heart almost leaped from your chest with excitement when your doorbell rang. You immediately put your wine glass down and raced to open the door. There stood Loki, in place of his usual clothes, was a slick black suit and he held red roses. He grinned at you, his eyes trailing up and down your body. He smirked at the Avengers t-shirt you were wearing. “Y/N, ravishing as always.”
You held back a lovestruck grin and stood on your tip toes to press a kiss to his cheek. “Loki, you’re looking quite handsome this evening.” You delicately took the flowers from his hands and smelled them, looking up at him through your eyelashes as you did so. “Roses, my favorite.”
“I know, we’ve been dating for three months.”
You dropped the fancy act immediately, breaking character with a loud fit of giggles. “Alright, come in, you big doof.” You turned away from him and walked to your small kitchen. You put the flowers in a vase with water before scooping up various snacks into your arms.
Loki watched as you walked into the living room, where he was seated on your sofa and had already changed into comfortable sweatpants and a t-shirt. “I was thinking we could watch Jurassic Park today. It’s a classic and one of my favorites.” You said, placing the snacks on the coffee table and sitting down next to him.
“Anything you want, darling.” He smiled, putting his arm around your shoulders and pulling you into his chest. Your heart soared as he pressed a soft kiss to your hair.
“What the fuck.” Said Bucky, eyes widening as he looked through the sniper. It was aimed directly at your apartment and unloaded. The trio was standing on the roof of a neighboring building, trying to get a look into the apartment.
Natasha quickly pushed Bucky out of the way and took a look at the apartment. Her mouth dropped open when she saw you and Loki, cuddled up on the sofa. “Oh my god.” She pulled away from the sniper and allowed Wanda to take a look. “It’s a girl. That’s why he’s been so weird.”
“Yeah,” Steve called out, walking up to them. “Her name is Y/N L/N. She works at a small cafe down the street from here, and she’s just a civilian.”
“But she stole his heart,” Wanda said, turning around to face the captain. “She’s an ordinary person but has somehow managed to catch his attention.”
“I don’t believe that.” Bucky chimed. “How do we know she didn’t bewitch him or something? For his power?”
“Guys, I looked into her. She’s completely clean. Has a mom in Florida, a younger brother in Seattle. She’s a small actress and is here to pursue her dream. She just so happened to meet him.” Steve shrugged, a small smile on his face.
“You knew about her,” Natasha stated, looking at him with confusion.
“I found her because I had the same suspicion as you. He asked me not to tell anybody because he wasn’t ready.”
Bucky began packing up the sniper. “He’s in love. That’s why he’s been so weird and nice. Laughing at his phone.” He paused, standing back up. “It’s cause of her.”
“I am thankful for her then,” Wanda said, smiling a bit. “She’s making him a better person.”
“Yeah,” Natasha replied, looking back down at your apartment window. “I guess she is.”

Neighbor | Bucky Barnes x Reader
based off of: I know we’ve never talked before but there is a friggin huge spider in my apartment can you kill it for me
words: 1.5k
warnings: arachnophobia, panicky feelings, kind of a bad ending but the rest of it is good
a/n: two posts in one day? who am i? actually i’m pretty proud of this and love it a lot so heck yeah. not requested but i saw this prompt and had to do it
You’ve never screamed so loud in your entire life. Not when watching any horror movie, not when your friends attempted to jump scare you, not when you almost got mugged walking home. Never.
But walking into your apartment after a pretty average day of work and finding a spider the size of a dinner plate (so you thought) taking refuge in the corner of your kitchen ceiling pulled a blood curling scream out of you. One you didn’t even know you were capable of. You flew out of the room, hiding behind the wall and only peaking into the room to get another glimpse of the spider.
As you stared at it, panic rising in your body and breathing cutting short. You squeezed your eyes shut. The longer you stared at it, the more you felt dozens of them crawling up your body.
You were the biggest arachnophobe you knew of. Nothing invoked such a raw feeling of panic and fear in you than spiders did. You had no idea why. There was no traumatic event where you woke up to a spider sitting on your chest. It’s just how you were.
Any spider made your skin crawl.
It was the biggest irrational fear, yet it plagued you so much. You avoided spiders all through your life. Making other people kill them or take them out when you found them in your home, avoiding walking through gardens or forests where you could easily walk through a spider web. You also vowed to never visit Australia, knowing you would easily faint should their extra large spiders decide to visit you.
Now here you stood, in your apartment, back to a wall as you hid from a spider that was definitely not as big as you thought it was. You wanted to cry but seeing as you were an adult and lived alone, you had to figure out a solution to the situation.
You remembered that your next door neighbor was a big beefy dude that politely held the elevator for you once and would definitely be able to help you with your problem.
You straightened up and peeked into the kitchen again, your heart stopping when you saw the spider had disappeared from that corner. Fear crawled up your spine as you spun around, making sure the entire area of five feet around you was spider-free. Then, you looked at the ceiling corner diagonal of the other one and found the spider there.
Feeling slightly frustrated with how genuinely afraid you felt and how much you wanted to curl up and cry, you sped out of your apartment and down the hall. That spider moved fast, so you needed to act quickly.
You knocked three times and hoped to god that your neighbor was home. You didn’t know what you’d do if he wasn’t. No wait, you’d probably cry.
The door opened after a few agonizing moments. You noticed he had a few extra locks on his door as he opened them, but decided you were so scared of the eight-legged thing in your apartment that you didn’t care if this man had two heads. So long as he could help you.
“Hi, can I help you?” Bucky questioned, a hesitant smile on his face as he looked you over. You almost forgot about the spider in your apartment because of how handsome this man was.
“Hi, um, I’m Y/N. I live next door. I know we’ve never talked before but there is a really, really, really huge spider in my apartment. Can you please kill it for me?” You quickly spat out, your body trembling with fear. You hoped it wasn’t too obvious. People often found it amusing how terrified you were and used it to make fun of you.
Your neighbor nodded, no sign of amusement on his face. “Alright, sure. Where is it?”
You lead him back into your apartment. He glanced around at your picture frames and knick-knacks but it was a short trip to the kitchen. Upon arriving, you gasped.
The spider was nowhere in sight. “No, no, no, no.” You mumbled under your breath, spinning around, checking your surrounding area, then looking around the ceiling. No spider.
You opened a few cupboards with your trembling hands and frantically searched the kitchen. “It was here. I swear, it was here.” Tears prickled your eyes as you thought about possibly not finding the spider.
“Hey, hey.” Bucky placed his hands on your shoulders, making you jump, but then relax. His blue eyes scanning your face. He spoke softly to you, and it easily calmed you. “It’s okay. We’re gonna find it. Don’t panic.”
You nodded, blinking back the tears and taking a step back. “Sorry for freaking out. We should start looking.”
He followed you into the living room, which was across from the kitchen. “You always been this afraid of spiders?” He questioned, trying to make small talk as you searched the room.
“It got really bad when I was around twelve. I’m not sure why.” You moved to help him pull back the sofa to look behind it when he pushed it slightly forward with a single hand. With raised eyebrows, you kept searching. “They just invoke this whole different type of fear within me that nothing else does.”
“Everybody’s scared of something.” He replied, looking behind the tv.
“Right,” You breathed, stepping back from the DVD holder. “It’s not here. That’s terrifying.”
“We just gotta keep looking.” He smiled a little, making you melt inside. You agreed and lead him to the bathroom.
“This is the bathroom.” You stated, pushing the already slightly open door with your foot. “You check here. I’ll check my bedroom.”
“Got it.” He nodded, stepping into the bathroom.
You went into your room, searched quickly, found nothing. According to the silence from across the hall, Bucky also found nothing. You met him back in the hallway and turned to your office door. “The last room, last place it could possibly be.”
“Want me to walk in first?” He questioned, looking down at you with concern.
You looked away from his soft blue eyes. “Yeah, sure.”
He walked forward and opened the door. He slowly crept in and you stayed a foot outside the door. “Is it in there?” You almost whispered, watching him as he glanced around the room. His eyes landed on a spot on the ceiling and your blood chilled.
“You got a broom or something in this place, doll?”
“The closet to your left.” You replied, taking a few steps forward and peering into the room. You regretted it instantly and recoiled out of the room.
He returned into your view with a broom and held the bristled part up to the ceiling. “Alright, fucker, time to die.” He mumbled under his breath before stabbing the broom at the ceiling.
You heard a soft thud and peeked back into the room. You saw the spider on the ground, on it’s back, and curling into itself. You shuddered, wrapping your arms around yourself and focusing on your neighbor instead. “It’s huge. Too huge. Why does it exist? Oh god.”
“It’s a wolf spider.” He said, stabbing it a few more times to make sure it was dead. “Not uncommon around these parts. Though I’m not entirely sure how it made its way into your apartment.”
“I’m not sure either.” You replied, going into the closet to get a trash bag for Bucky to put it in.
He scooped it into the trash bag and tied it off. You followed him to the door. “Thank you so much.” You sighed, throwing your arms around him as you both stood in the doorway of your apartment. “I don’t know what I would’ve done without you. I wouldn’t have slept if I didn’t find it and I still don’t know if I’ll sleep comfortably but thank you.”
He hugged you back with one arm, keeping the trash bag a bit away from you. “You’re welcome, Y/N. If you ever need somebody to kill another spider for you, I’m only a door away.” He smiled at you, a smile so beautiful you wished you could see it for the rest of your life.
“Of course, and thank you so much again.” You smiled back, leaning against your door. “I’ll let you throw that out and get back to your own apartment.”
“I’ll see you again.” He gave you a small nod and another smile and turned around, beginning his walk to the elevator to throw the spider corpse in the big trash bins.
“Wait!” You called, realizing something.
He turned around and looked at you, curiosity in his gaze.
“You never told me your name.” You smiled, a bit mischievous.
Bucky seemed to think about it for a moment, an amused smile taking over his face as he chuckled lightly. “You can call me James. James Grant.”
Your smile grew. “Okay, James. Thank you again.”
His heart skipped a beat at the sound of his name in your voice. “See you around, doll.”
