Please everyone,take the time to write emails now to the Army Corp of Engineers. There are only two days left to let them know how important it is to breach the 4 lower dams on the Snake River,or we risk losing our beloved Southern Resident Killer Whales to extinction. Our Southern Residents are starving,and they are running out of time in which to recover this magnificent orca family,whom have survived for thousands of years,and now there remains 73 in the wild ,and one in captivity. We have to speak out loud ,clear ,and strong,and let them know that these beautiful creatures belong to all of us to enjoy,and to all future generations. There is no dam more important than losing such a valuable species,forever. Dams kill the natural species of a river,like they are killing our chinook salmon and steelhead,and lead to extinction,as is happening now with our Southern Resident orcas,chinook salmon and steelhead. We, we lose a species to extinction,we lose valuable piece of ourselves and our world. We have to make sure that these dams are breached now or we may never get this chance again,and if we do,I can guarantee we will have lost more of our Southern Residents by then. Salmon travel thousands of miles and their journey to be complete doesn’t include dams. The man made obstacles are preventing adults to swim upstream to spawn. We are interfering with wildlife that not only affects birds, insects, bears and orcas, but it’s impact on humans is also significant. The Orca population of the Southern Residents JPOD are starving to death. A thriving Orca Pod should have about 300 to 400 individuals to be healthy and to breed. Without food, they will starve just as the world witnessed the unbelievable consequences of a Mother Orca who carried her dead calf for 17 days for the world to see. They can’t reproduce and feed without Salmon which makes up for 90% of their diets. They’re telling us they need help. I don’t know how much clearer the signs of extinction need to be in order for @govinslee to wake up and breach the dams. The salmon population is in serious trouble too because they cannot navigate through dams. The Southern Residents Orca Pod are going extinct. We humans are literally removing whatever salmon does make it to the ocean for our enjoyment and all at the expense of wildlife. I have a link on my bio page about the Lower Snake River Dams that further explains this serious issue that needs immediate attention from Government. It’s too bad people with knowledge are not the decision makers because this has gone on for too long and the extinction of wildlife doesn’t end at wildlife. We are in this world with wildlife and we cannot survive without them.
