The Allure of Vintage Cars: A Journey Through Time and Automotive Craftsmanship
Tumblr media
Vintage cars are more than just vehicles; they are a celebration of automotive history, craftsmanship, and timeless design. These classic cars evoke nostalgia for a bygone era, reflecting the innovation and artistry that defined early motoring. From the elegance of pre-war automobiles to the muscle cars of the 1960s, vintage cars represent a passion for engineering and a love for unique, hand-crafted machines.
This article explores the world of vintage cars, their significance, the different eras they represent, and why these beautiful machines continue to capture the hearts of collectors and enthusiasts today.
What Defines a Vintage Car?
The term "vintage" often refers to cars that were manufactured between the 1910s and the 1930s, although the exact definition can vary depending on the region or collector's club. In general, vintage cars are those that are at least 30 years old, and they can be further categorized into different eras:
Brass Era (1885–1915): These are some of the earliest cars, named after the brass fittings and fixtures used in their design. They often have exposed radiators, gas lamps, and large, spoked wheels.
Vintage Era (1919–1930): This period saw the rise of closed-body cars (those with roofs) and significant advancements in car production, most notably with the mass-production techniques pioneered by Henry Ford.
Classic Era (1930–1970s): While not technically considered vintage by purists, classic cars—especially those from the 1930s to the 1970s—are highly sought after for their design, power, and cultural significance. This era includes pre- and post-war models as well as the iconic muscle cars of the 1960s.
Each of these eras contributes a distinct chapter to the story of automotive evolution, from early experimentation to the development of powerful, stylish machines.
The Evolution of Automotive Design
The design and technology of vintage cars reflect the era in which they were made. Cars from the early 20th century were often hand-built, with intricate detailing and a focus on luxury and craftsmanship. As industrial processes improved, cars became more affordable, and automakers began to focus on performance and innovation.
The Brass Era: The Dawn of Motoring
The Brass Era, from the late 19th century to the early 20th century, marks the birth of the automobile industry. Cars like the Ford Model T, introduced in 1908, revolutionized personal transportation by making cars affordable to the masses. Before that, cars were largely bespoke creations, crafted by skilled engineers and craftsmen. Brands like Rolls-Royce, Cadillac, and Packard became synonymous with luxury and elegance during this time.
The early cars were often open-top vehicles with large, brass fittings such as radiators, headlights, and horns. These cars required manual cranking to start and often featured wooden frames and bodies, giving them a unique aesthetic appeal. Despite their simplicity compared to modern cars, these vehicles were groundbreaking in their design and engineering.
The Vintage Era: The Rise of Style and Sophistication
The 1920s and 1930s, often referred to as the Vintage Era, saw car manufacturers refining their designs and offering more powerful and luxurious models. This period is when cars truly began to transition from functional machines to symbols of status and wealth.
Automobiles like the Rolls-Royce Phantom, Bentley 4½ Litre, and Bugatti Type 35 exemplified the blend of performance, style, and elegance that defined the era. Innovations in suspension, engine design, and aerodynamics began to make these cars faster, smoother, and more comfortable to drive.
During this time, design became more focused on aesthetics, with streamlined shapes, luxurious interiors, and increased attention to detail. Coachbuilders such as Pininfarina, Zagato, and Mulliner worked with manufacturers to create custom, hand-built bodies for wealthy clients, each car becoming a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
The Classic Era: The Birth of Iconic Automobiles
The post-World War II era, particularly the 1950s and 1960s, brought about the rise of the classic car era, with manufacturers producing some of the most iconic cars in history. This period saw the birth of legendary American muscle cars like the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Corvette, and Pontiac GTO. These cars were built for speed and performance, capturing the excitement and freedom of the open road.
On the other side of the Atlantic, European manufacturers like Ferrari, Jaguar, and Aston Martin were creating cars that combined performance with unparalleled beauty. The Ferrari 250 GTO, Jaguar E-Type, and Aston Martin DB5 became symbols of automotive excellence, admired for their sleek designs and powerful engines.
The classic era also saw advancements in automotive technology, such as disc brakes, independent suspension, and more efficient engines. These innovations made cars not only faster but also safer and more reliable, increasing their appeal to both collectors and drivers.
Why Vintage Cars Are Still Relevant Today
In a world dominated by modern cars loaded with advanced technology, vintage cars still hold a special place in the hearts of many. Several reasons contribute to their enduring appeal:
1. Timeless Design
Vintage cars are celebrated for their timeless design. Unlike modern cars, which are often subject to rapidly changing trends, the design principles of vintage cars are rooted in elegance, craftsmanship, and simplicity. Whether it’s the sleek lines of a 1950s Porsche or the imposing grille of a 1930s Bentley, vintage cars have an aesthetic appeal that transcends time.
2. Mechanical Simplicity
While modern cars are packed with computers and electronic systems, vintage cars are admired for their mechanical simplicity. Enthusiasts appreciate the hands-on nature of maintaining and restoring these vehicles. Many vintage cars can be worked on with basic tools, making them a rewarding project for hobbyists and collectors who enjoy tinkering with engines and components.
3. Historical Significance
Each vintage car tells a story, representing a specific time in automotive history. Whether it’s a 1930s Mercedes-Benz from the pre-war era or a 1960s Chevrolet Camaro that captured the spirit of American muscle cars, these vehicles serve as living history, offering a glimpse into the design, technology, and culture of their time.
4. Investment Potential
In recent years, vintage cars have become a popular investment for collectors. Classic models, particularly those that are rare or have historical significance, have seen significant appreciation in value. Cars like the Ferrari 250 GTO or the Aston Martin DB5 are now worth millions, making them highly coveted pieces in the world of automotive collectibles.
5. Sense of Community
Owning a vintage car often comes with a sense of belonging to a passionate community. Vintage car enthusiasts gather at car shows, rallies, and auctions to celebrate their shared love for these machines. Clubs and associations dedicated to specific makes or models offer a space for enthusiasts to exchange knowledge, share restoration tips, and enjoy their cars together.
Restoring and Maintaining Vintage Cars
Restoring a vintage car is a labor of love, requiring time, dedication, and often a significant financial investment. Whether it’s sourcing rare parts, rebuilding engines, or refinishing interiors, the process can be both challenging and rewarding.
One of the main challenges of restoring vintage cars is finding original parts. Many manufacturers no longer produce parts for older models, so collectors often rely on specialist suppliers, salvage yards, or custom fabrication. Authenticity is key in restoration, with original parts and materials enhancing the car’s value and historical integrity.
Maintaining a vintage car also requires careful attention to detail. Regular maintenance, such as changing the oil, inspecting brakes, and checking the electrical system, is essential to keeping the car running smoothly. While vintage cars may not be as reliable as modern vehicles, their mechanical nature makes them easier to repair for those with the right knowledge and skills.
Conclusion
Vintage cars represent more than just transportation; they are a celebration of history, design, and engineering. From the earliest Brass Era automobiles to the classic muscle cars of the 1960s, these vehicles evoke a sense of nostalgia and admiration for a time when cars were not just mass-produced machines but works of art.
Whether it’s for their timeless beauty, historical significance, or the thrill of restoration, vintage cars continue to captivate collectors, enthusiasts, and drivers alike. As symbols of a bygone era, they remind us of the artistry and craftsmanship that once defined the automotive industry, ensuring their place in history for generations to come.

Just did that test and scored 163 - which should let you know what utter, utter BOLLOCKS these online tests are where it’s virtually impossible to fail.
Tumblr media
80 questions with a maximum possible score of 240 and only requiring 65 points to be considered autistic ... in other words you only need a pass rate of TWENTY SEVEN PERCENT!
Tumblr media
Good god, even the worst redbrick British University of Bums On Seats run by the biggest sharks outside of a automobile showroom wouldn’t have the brass neck to call twenty seven percent a pass mark.
The ‘average’ of 54% is even more risible, considering so many of the questions are earlier ones asked again in a different way, some of them so nonsensical that people are inclined to answer ‘both ways’ in order to ‘balance’ their overall answers out.
This is a standard trick by dishonest stats compilers wanting to get the ‘correct’ answer in order to push a particular premise - hence the phrase ‘lies, damned lies and statistics’. Political parties and shit governments pull this sort of stunt all the time to justify the unjustifiable. As the old joke goes, you can tell if someone's a pollster because if you ask them what 2+2 is, they'll reply 'what would you like it to be?'
The massive rise in people being diagnosed with ‘autism’ has everything to do with the fifth edition of the ‘bible’ of psychiatric medicine - Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder (aka DSM) - deciding to ‘fold’ Asperger’s and multiple other ‘syndromes’ (especially the highly ambiguous Pervasive Developmental Disorder) which had all only been introduced into the manual in 1994 into one ‘catch all’ term called Autism Spectrum Disorder in 2013, often shorted to plain old ‘autism’, even though the original designation was far different to the original.
There has been accusations ever since that time this was done largely as a result of ‘incentivisation’ by pharmaceutical companies and the likes of the National Institute of Mental Health which stood to make massive profits or increased research grants from a sudden rise in people being diagnosed positively, and whose shares in certain cases were in danger of collapse due to societal changes meaning the end of both the AIDS ‘boom’ and the projected decline of lung cancer rates (vaping - with all the new problems it entails - was at that time insignificant ...).
Why the f**k else do you think 'Autism' diagnoses have risen in the last two decades a mere 787 per cent!
[Source: University of Exeter, University of Cambridge, University of Bath]
For the benefit of all you geeks and nerds out there, yes that's the same NIMH the author Robert C. O'Brien was warning you kids out there about way back in 1971. Penny beginning to drop yet these people are not your friends?
Tumblr media
You can prove any old shit in the world if you move the goalposts, load the dice, etc. to suit yourself. Hucksterism is at an all time in the health care sector precisely because a lot of the checks and balances used to rid the world of snake oil peddlers and quacks have been removed across first world's legislatures in the name of 'profit'.
If you think that's cynical, let's start with the basics, shall we? Ask any pharmacist how much of your over-the-counter aspirin is actual aspirin and how much is just chalk, flour or lactose (cutely called 'bulking agent').
Why else do you think every second person you know under 40 is somehow on one pill or another in an era where the food we eat to the air we breathe is actually the healthiest it's been in half a century (which, by the way is the 'cure' for most illnesses, physical and mental. The human body's capacity to self heal given the correct nutrients took a mere six million years of evolution to achieve)
The medical industry has become a shareholder-centric profiteering racket, and your welfare is the least of their concerns. It's not because they're evil: it's because in a capitalist society where market forces are the only real law left, they have no choice but to have all the amorality of a The Last Of Us character or British Rail customer services.
Hence why so many of the questions on that questionaire are not merely downright dishonest, but fail to take into account social trends, especially those linked to the old chestnut about 'autistic' people having problems with empathising with others.
Guess what, idiots, that's as alarmingly normal as it gets!
Tumblr media
We've turned into a society of self centred bratty 'me me me' little bastards over the last half century - and that has zero to do with any mental health pandemic or other made up woo-woo and everything to do with the creation of a society of consuming-fixated narcissists obsessed with fixing everything we think's 'wrong' with us whilst paradoxically obsessing over our 'individuality', jumping onto every health fad and constantly demanding endless pats on the back and whatever 'adult candy' now fulfils the role valium once did in the 70s.
A society where we're so 'caring', half the time we don't even know who our next door neighbour is anymore and care even less, unless they're on Twitter. A society where we'd miss most of those we 'love's' 'birthdays if Moonpig hadn't f**king 'saved' them.
We have more empathy for z-list celebs, social media 'influencers' and shitpost bloggers than we do for those we encounter in real life. That's the 'norm'. Millions 'empathising' with people who wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire.
Rise in autism? How the hell can anyone truly tell in a world where even bloody sociopathy is now the mainstream? It's not autism anyone should be worrying about, it's what's accepted for normality.
one of my beloved friends (very autism) was in.. not denial but ignorance sounds mean. but that abt themself last time you brought up the raads r test so i sent it to the gc (full of autism) and they were like psh. fake test no one could get below 100. they know now but i think about it so much
The thing is. When you take the autism test. And you see your score is in the 100 to 160 range. You think. Oh this is probably the middle? Middle autism. Tinge of autism. Your relatives calling you bright but shy autism. Just a whiff of autism. And then you see the score ranges. And you go. This test is lying to me there is absolutely no way the majority of people score under 65. The 65 number is such a low cutoff and so many of these experiences are clearly universal a score under 65 is something they made up in a lab. People who score under 65 are obviously scoring just under that mark from 59 to 64 and they’re also obviously lying or purposely misrepresenting their experiences as less severe than they are. And then you find out there are real people who get a 20 or 30 or 7 on it. And you go. Ah

Main Street Vehicles in Disney World's Magic Kingdom Park
Tumblr media
Main Street, U.S.A. at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World is a meticulously crafted recreation of an early 20th-century small-town America. This nostalgic thoroughfare transports visitors back in time, immersing them in the sights, sounds, and ambiance of a bygone era. Among the many delightful attractions that bring this charming street to life are the Main Street Vehicles – a collection of vintage modes of transportation that offer guests a unique and unforgettable experience. From horse-drawn streetcars to horseless carriages, these vehicles not only provide a leisurely ride down Main Street but also serve as living museums, showcasing the ingenuity and craftsmanship of a time when transportation was undergoing a revolutionary transition. In this comprehensive review, we will delve into the rich history, intricate details, and captivating experiences that make the Main Street Vehicles a must-visit attraction for any Disney enthusiast.
Tumblr media
The Horse-Drawn Streetcar
A Nostalgic Journey One of the most iconic and beloved vehicles on Main Street is the horse-drawn streetcar. As you approach the boarding area, you are immediately transported back in time, greeted by the gentle clip-clop of hooves and the jingle of harnesses. The streetcar itself is a masterpiece of craftsmanship, meticulously restored to its former glory, with gleaming wood paneling, brass accents, and plush velvet seats that beckon you to step aboard.  As the streetcar begins its leisurely journey down Main Street, you can't help but marvel at the attention to detail that surrounds you. The driver, dressed in period attire, expertly guides the magnificent draft horses, while the conductor regales passengers with tales of bygone days. The gentle sway of the streetcar and the rhythmic clop of hooves create a soothing cadence that transports you to a simpler time, when life moved at a more leisurely pace. The Horses The horses that pull the streetcars are a breed apart, carefully selected for their strength, temperament, and ability to work in a theme park environment. These gentle giants, often Belgian or Percheron drafts, undergo extensive training to ensure they are comfortable with the sights, sounds, and crowds of the Magic Kingdom. Watching these magnificent creatures effortlessly pull the streetcar is a sight to behold, a testament to the enduring bond between humans and horses that has existed for centuries. As you pass by, you can't help but admire their powerful muscles rippling beneath their glossy coats, their hooves striking the pavement with a steady, reassuring rhythm.
Tumblr media
The Horseless Carriage
A Glimpse into the Automotive Revolution While the horse-drawn streetcar pays homage to the past, the horseless carriage represents the dawn of a new era – the age of the automobile. These vintage cars, meticulously restored to their former glory, offer a unique glimpse into the early days of the automotive revolution. As you step into the plush leather seats of the horseless carriage, you are immediately transported back to a time when the automobile was still a novelty, a symbol of progress and modernity. The gentle purr of the engine and the distinctive aroma of gasoline and oil create an immersive experience that is both nostalgic and exhilarating. The horseless carriages on Main Street come in a variety of styles and colors, each one a unique work of art. From the sleek, streamlined lines of the Model T to the more ornate and embellished designs of the early 20th century, these vehicles are a testament to the ingenuity and craftsmanship of their time.
Tumblr media
The Omnibus
A Double-Decker Delight For those seeking a truly unique and memorable experience, the omnibus is a must-ride attraction. This double-decker bus, modeled after the iconic vehicles that once plied the streets of New York City, offers a bird's-eye view of Main Street that is simply unparalleled. As you ascend the narrow staircase to the upper deck, you are immediately struck by the sense of grandeur and majesty that surrounds you. The ornate woodwork, plush upholstery, and intricate detailing transport you to a time when travel was an event, a celebration of luxury and sophistication. From the top deck of the omnibus, you can take in the sights and sounds of Main Street in a way that is simply not possible from ground level. The bustling crowds, the towering buildings, and the intricate details of the streetscape take on a whole new perspective, offering a truly unique and unforgettable experience.
Tumblr media
The Fire Engine
A Tribute to Bravery and Heroism No Main Street would be complete without a vintage fire engine, and the Magic Kingdom's offering is a true masterpiece. This meticulously restored vehicle, with its gleaming brass accents and vibrant red paint, is a tribute to the bravery and heroism of the firefighters who risked their lives to protect their communities. As you climb aboard the fire engine, you can't help but feel a sense of awe and respect for the men and women who once manned these powerful machines. The intricate detailing, from the hand-painted lettering to the polished brass bells and lanterns, is a testament to the craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into every aspect of these vehicles. As the fire engine rumbles down Main Street, you can almost hear the echoes of the past – the clang of the bell, the shouts of the firefighters, and the roar of the engine as it raced to the scene of a blaze. It is a powerful reminder of the courage and sacrifice that has always been at the heart of the firefighting profession.
Tumblr media
The Jitney
A Compact Companion While the larger vehicles on Main Street may steal the spotlight, the jitney, a compact and nimble horseless carriage, offers a unique and charming experience all its own. These diminutive vehicles, with their distinctive styling and cozy interiors, were once a common sight on the streets of early 20th-century America. As you step into the jitney, you are immediately struck by the sense of intimacy and coziness that surrounds you. The plush leather seats and the warm glow of the brass accents create a welcoming and inviting atmosphere that is both nostalgic and comforting. The jitney's compact size and maneuverability make it the perfect vehicle for navigating the narrow streets and tight corners of Main Street, offering a truly unique perspective on this iconic thoroughfare. As you glide along, you can't help but feel a sense of connection to the past, imagining the countless journeys and adventures that these little vehicles once facilitated.
Tumblr media
The Attention to Detail
One of the most remarkable aspects of the Main Street Vehicles is the incredible attention to detail that has gone into their restoration and presentation. From the meticulously polished brass accents to the hand-painted lettering and intricate woodwork, every aspect of these vehicles has been lovingly and painstakingly recreated to capture the essence of their respective eras. The interiors of the vehicles are no less impressive, with plush upholstery, gleaming wood paneling, and intricate detailing that transport you back in time. The sights, sounds, and even the smells of these vehicles have been carefully curated to create an immersive and authentic experience that is truly unlike anything else.
Tumblr media
The Cast Members
No discussion of the Main Street Vehicles would be complete without acknowledging the incredible cast members who bring these attractions to life. From the skilled drivers and conductors who expertly guide the vehicles down Main Street to the knowledgeable and engaging tour guides who share their wealth of information with guests, these dedicated individuals are the heart and soul of the Main Street Vehicles experience.  Their passion for their work is evident in every interaction, as they regale guests with tales of bygone days, share fascinating historical insights, and ensure that every ride is a truly memorable and enjoyable experience. Their commitment to excellence and their unwavering dedication to creating magical moments for guests is truly inspiring.

Baker Motor Vehicle Company Building
7100-7122 Euclid Ave.
Cleveland , OH
The Baker Motor Vehicle Company Building, also known as the Baker Electric Building, Baker R&L Company, and A.L. Englander, is a historic commercial building in Cleveland, Ohio. Built in 1910, it was the first showroom of the Baker Electric Motor Car Co., a pioneer in Brass Era electric automobiles. Baker Electric merged with Rauch and Lang in 1914, and the building was sold in 1920. It served as an auto dealership, machine shop, and print shop for the next 86 years. The structure underwent a two-year renovation and historic preservation from 2006 and 2008, and now serves as a startup business incubator.
The site that would become the Baker Motor Vehicle Company showroom was originally a residence. From the 1860s to the 1920s, Euclid Avenue in Cleveland was known around the world as "Millionaires' Row" for the extensive number of mansions and fine homes that lined the street. The lot at 7100 Euclid Avenue had a Euclid frontage of 150 feet and an East 71st Street frontage of 450 feet.  The house and property were owned by Alonzo F. Winslow, who began managing the American House hotel in Cleveland in 1852. He invented the Winslow corrugated roof iron for railroad freight cars and the Winslow stove for use in railroad passenger cars, which made him a wealthy man. He was a member of the Cleveland City Council from 1857 to 1858, and was elected Cuyahoga County Sheriff in sheriff in 1874. He died in 1908.
In early 1909, the Winslow House was sold to the Baker Electric Motor Car Co. and demolished. The new structure was designed by local architect Frank B. Meade in a mix of Early Commercial and Mission Revival styles. The building faced Euclid Avenue, and was 160 feet  wide and 200 feet long, and set 50 feet back from the street.    The Baker Electric Motor Car Co. building was first occupied on May 2, 1910.  The showroom was utilized by both Baker Electric and Standard Automobile Co. salesmen.   Faced with significant competition from the gasoline-powered automobile and declining sales of electric cars, Baker Electric merged with the Rauch & Lang Carriage Company in 1916. Production of electric passenger vehicles ceased in 1919.   In 1920, the building was sold to the A.L. Englander Motor Co., which used the showroom to sell Hupp Motor Cars and, later, Pontiacs and Buicks. Englander closed its doors in March 1942, and the building was sold to the A.W. Hecker Co., which used it as a machine shop.  The building was purchased by the newly formed GCC Corp. for $100,000 in July 1966 for use as a print shop.  The building was renovated from 1980 to 1985 at a cost of $100,000. GCC's parent company closed the print business in 2000, leaving the building empty.
Cleveland developer Dick Pace in 2006 purchased the still-empty structure for $780,000.  Over the next two years, Pace spent $7 million transforming the building into laboratory, light industry, and office space for startup companies.  The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 21, 2007, for its association with the Cleveland's automobile industry and the electric automobile, and Pace received extensive historic preservation tax credits[e] which paid for 40 percent of the renovation's cost. The showroom windows were unbricked, the dropped ceiling and drywall removed, and the original ceramic floor restored.  By 2009, the Baker Motor Vehicle Building was 70 percent occupied.  In 2010, the city of Cleveland installed one of the first public electric vehicle recharging stations at the Baker Motor Vehicle Building—bringing electric automobile charging back to the building 90 years after it was removed.

Revisiting the domestic architecture of the 1950’s
This single-family home, built on the banks of a river, in the northern suburbs of Montreal, is the result of an architectural conversation with the design work of the architects of that era. Hidden behind a row of tall, mature pines, its siting allows the existing natural vegetation to become an integral part of the project while optimizing the views towards the water.
Tumblr media
The perfect 100 X 100 square
Revisiting some key architectural elements of modernism in a contemporary manner, the geometry of the floor and ceilings, the integrated wooden furniture and the masonry cladding have all been reimagined. The garage, a symbol of a time when suburbia and automobiles rhymed with progress and enthusiasm, is directly integrated into the house, which itself forms a perfect 100-foot square. The question of privacy versus openings, crucial in the 1950's, enables a response that creates two rectangular courtyards. They are inserted into the volume, bringing natural light into the heart of the residence, while also integrating the back yard and the swimming pool. These exterior spaces that are extruded from the initial mass also serve to define and structure the geometry of the interior space of the project. The 100-foot square is therefore in contact with an ordered exterior space placed in the foreground of the natural setting that remains intact beyond the boundaries of the house.
Integration in the landscape
The siting of the residence makes it possible to reintegrate the pre-existing alignments of the land and to therefore conserve as many existing trees as possible. Large coniferous trees were then planted in the heart of the first landscaped courtyard that provides vehicular access. The programmatic distribution of the interior spaces takes into consideration the relationship with the street, the relationship to the river, the solar orientation and the specific needs of the inhabitants. Also, the living room space was lowered a few steps and a glass pavilion has been installed on the roof. While initially design as a single-storey house, the pavilion creates a variety of spatial experiences.
The north-south axis of the project houses the more intimate spaces with the need for privacy, while the living spaces are spread out along the river, thereby creating a strong link with the daily evolution of the surrounding landscape. The position of the garage makes it possible to minimize the presence of the residence to the street, while still creating a clear axis that marks the main entrance. It follows the same axis as the pre-existing access road, thus mitigating the impact on the site and its natural landscape. Abundant vegetation provides privacy for the residents while offering a green and natural context for the neighborhood. Treatment of materials
A palette of materials, matched to the colour of the natural trees bark, makes it possible to integrate the new tone-on-tone construction into its surroundings. Natural materials, including clay brick (wall), wood (soffit) and stone (flooring are natural), have been given preference.  Brass accents have added to the project, as has metal cladding. On the front facade, a large bay window creates a visual flow through to the river while serving to accentuate the pavilion like feel of the design.
The mezzanine space that allows residents to benefit from an additional view onto the river serves to accentuate the composition and break up the horizontality of the residence. Some areas of the roof are covered with a white granular membrane while others have been landscaped, offering a green and temperate environment for this level. The overall emphasis of a sustainable design approach is enhanced through the incorporation of geothermal wells that provide both heating and ventilation for the residence.

San Marino Motor Classic
It was a 2 show kind of weekend. Saturday was the gassers event at ZADM and Sunday was the San Marino Motor Classic. This is more of a concours event but also not. It is always a fun time at Lacy Park and this year’s was one of the largest I’ve seen there. The show field and outside grass areas were full of brass era classics, early luxury automobiles, muscles cars, Porsches and the list goes on and on. A wonderful sunny day in SoCal checking out cool cars is always a great day.

Tumblr media
- Rarest, most significant pre-war British classics to star at Concours of Elegance from 2nd to 4th September 2022 - Held at Hampton Court Palace, the event will include a special 1920s Vauxhall, as well as the 4.5-litre Bentley it competed with in period - Show will also feature brace of exceptional Rolls-Royce ‘Silver Ghosts’, and ultra-rare Lagonda V12 Rapide - In total, nearly 1,000 vehicles will be on display across the weekend as further features are revealed in the coming weeks - The Concours of Elegance remains the UK’s top concours d’elegance and among the top three in the world - Tickets can be bought now from www.concoursofelegance.co.uk/tickets
The Concours of Elegance is delighted to reveal that this September’s automotive extravaganza will feature a selection of the very finest pre-war British motor cars.
The glamorous line-up - handpicked from the world’s leading car collections - will chart the progression of Britain’s innovative, resourceful marques during this fascinating era. The selection will star as part of a wider Concours display featuring 70 of the world’s rarest, most spectacular vehicles, assembled in the immaculate grounds of Hampton Court Palace from the 2nd to 4th September. The line-up of British machinery will include not one but two examples of the most famous Rolls-Royce of all, the remarkable Silver Ghost; an emblem of Edwardian engineering excellence, from a time when’s Britain led the automotive world. The ‘Ghost’, when launched to the world was a real engineering tour de force, renowned for its exceptional mechanical refinement and effortless power. From 1910 onwards the Ghost was equipped with a smooth, near silent – hence the ‘Ghost; name – 7.4-litre 50 hp straight-six, giving imperious performance and that left contemporary rivals firmly in its dust. The first Ghost that will be on show emerged from the factory on the 30th of August 1912; this grand, stately automobile will appear at Hampton Court Palace days after its 110th birthday. Chassis 2092 was a particularly lavish example, specified with a seven-passenger cabriolet body, its fittings in gleaming brass, rather than the usual nickel. It lived in the UK until the late 1940s, when it travelled by ship from Blackpool to Boston. It remained in the USA for some time, its enthusiast owners including Alex E. Ullman, founder of the famed Sebring 12 Hours race. It returned to the UK in 2001 when it was treated to a full restoration and fitted with an original Arthur Mulliner body - tracked down in Sweden. This wonderful Ghost has since competed with success at concours competitions including Pebble Beach and Amelia Island, whilst also touring extensively, covering 40,000 miles across the US and throughout Europe in recent years; a great car used as intended. The second Ghost that will grace Hampton Court later this year also left the factory in late 1912, fitted with a Tourer body by Arthur Mulliner of Northampton. It was a particularly special example – an exact duplicate of Chassis 1710, the famous Ghost that won the London to Edinburgh rally in 1911. The Ghost had such effortless power from the gargantuan 7-4-litre engine, that it was able to complete the entire 400-mile journey in top gear. The car that will be on show this September spent much of its early life north of the border, before also crossing the Atlantic in the mid 1950s. It was owned by a prominent member of the Rolls-Royce Owners Club, who replaced the Mulliner coachwork with a ‘Hooper Tourer’ body. It returned to the UK in 1989 and starred as part of marque experts P&A Wood’s Silver Ghost centenary celebrations. This September’s event will offer an excellent chance to examine this splendid brace of richly detailed Silver Ghosts up close – united 110 years after they rolled out of the factory – motor cars that rank among Britain’s greatest of all. The Concours of Elegance will also welcome the most revered Vauxhall of all this September, the 1925 30/98 Wensum Tourer. When new the high-performance, sporting car - known as the “King of Thoroughbreds” - was locked in fierce competition with the Bentley 4.5-litre. Launched back in 1913 as the 30/98 Velox, the model was upgraded in 1922 to become the ‘OE’, with a cutting-edge overhead valve engine. Performance was highly impressive, with over 100 mph possible. The car that will be on show at Hampton Court is the most special 30/98 variant, one of just 12 cars supplied with the ‘ultra-sporting’ Wensum body, the light weight of which gave them even more sprightly performance. With its dramatic V-shaped windshield, head-turning ‘boattail’ coachwork – inspiration for which was taken from contemporary speedboat design - the Wensum was among the most stylish cars of its day. Chassis OE259 is particularly striking with its gleaming chrome finish. It is believed to be one of just six surviving cars, and likely the most original of all, its interior largely unchanged since it left the Vauxhall factory nigh on 100 years ago. One of the last cars produced by the marque before its takeover by General Motors in 1926, the Vauxhall 30/98s retains a particular significance in British automotive history. These fine Edwardian motor cars are, particularly in ultra-rare Wensum Tourer form are highly coveted by collectors. Also lining up in the Palace grounds will be the 30/98’s aforementioned rival: the 4.5-litre W.O. Bentley. Bentley, founded in 1919, quickly developed a reputation for producing distinguished sporting cars, offering both 3-litre and 6 ½ litre machines to the moneyed elite. The 4 ½ litre was first introduced in 1927, effectively replacing the 3-litre car which had become outdated by the late ‘20s. The new model was more powerful than the 70 bhp 3-litre car, packing 110 bhp in ‘touring’ form, and 130 bhp in race trim. The 4 ½ litre – a powerful, sporting road car, was also highly effective as a competition machine, winning at the famous 24 hours of Le Mans on its debut in 1928. The example on show in under two months’ time will be a 1929 Vanden Plas Tourer model, formerly owned by Johnnie Green founder of the Bentley Drivers’ Club. Chassis DS3575 sat in storage for decades, before being sent for restoration at R.C. Moss in recent years. Great effort was made to ensure that it emerged from this process looking just as it did when it left the factory in 1929 - the restoration firm going so far as to track down and restore one of the original Rexine machines used for finishing the Bentley’s bodywork in period. This exceptional British motor car presents superbly, even retaining its original tool kit and owner’s handbook. Another fine example of British engineering, and one not to be missed. The fantastic array of pre-war British machinery will be capped off by a superb Lagonda V12 Rapide ‘Drop Head Coupe’, which was launched to the world in 1938 as conflict loomed over Europe. The Rapide V12 was introduced by Lagonda as a high-performance luxury grand-tourer, pitted against the dominant Alfa Romeo 2900, with the aim of setting new standards for the class. The ‘DHC’ - built on a shortened chassis - was a rakish de-facto two-seater, with only a small, removable rear bench behind the driver and passenger. Designed by Lagonda’s in-house designer, Frank Feely – who went on to work for Aston Martin - the Rapide DHC remains a strikingly beautiful car, offering an understated British take on the 1930s streamliner look. The elegant, reserved coachwork belied significant performance, with a fabulously smooth 180 bhp 4.5-litre V12 – designed by a certain W.O. Bentley – under the long bonnet; the Rapide V12 was as match for anything on the open roads of Europe. Such was the performance potential, that modified versions with lighter bodies competed at Le Mans, securing 3rd and 4th place in 1939. The Rapide V12 was also something of a technological tour de force, with independent front suspension and synchromesh for 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears. Unfortunately, production was short-lived; just 17 Rapide V12 DHCs were built before the disruption of war halted play in 1940. This particular car was completed in the September of 1939, just weeks after war broke out, and was soon exported to the United States, where it remained until 1989. On its return to the UK it was restored, and its V12 upgraded to effective Le Mans spec, with four carburettors and modified heads. September’s event will offer an opportunity to savour this stunning and exceptionally rare motor car from the very end of the pre-war era. These superb British motor cars and many more besides will be on show at this September’s glamourous event, assembled in the immaculate Palace grounds, with further star cars set to be announced in the coming weeks. Outside the main display of vehicles, the Concours of Elegance will assemble around 1,000 further cars in a series of special features and displays, as well as a live collector car auction by Gooding & Co. James Brooks-Ward, Concours of Elegance CEO, said: “we’re delighted to reveal the fabulous array of highly significant, pre-war British motor cars that will star at Hampton Court Palace in under two months’ time, adding to our already sensational line-up. The hand-picked selection will highlight the ingenuity, flair and irrepressible spirit that underpinned Britain’s automotive industry during the pre-war period. “The Concours of Elegance is renowned internationally for assembling the finest automobiles in existence, in the most spectacular of settings, and our tenth anniversary show will raise the bar once again; it really is going to be the ultimate automotive extravaganza.” Away from the automotive displays, Concours of Elegance will once again be an occasion of pure luxury, with champagne provided by Charles Heidsieck, picnics by Fortnum & Mason, and a collection of art, jewellery and fashion displays. Presenting Partner A. Lange & Söhne will once again showcase some of its most intricate timepieces. But the changes did not work, and the car was discontinued in 2001. However, the Ford Five Hundred is still a popular car, and it has more power than the Taurus. The Ford Taurus has the same engine as the Ford Escape, but it is built a bit differently. The Taurus has a bottom engine mount and timing chain cover that are the same as the ones on the Ford Fusion. Its transmission is 6-speed automatic. And it lasts about 27 days. If you're planning to change the motor in your car, there are some things that you need to keep in mind before you start. One thing to remember is that the Ford Taurus' engine is similar to the Ford Escape's, but it's easier to access. The timing chain cover is the same, but there is no top engine mount on the Taurus. You'll need to remove one head in order to access the internal components. Then you'll have to replace the valves. The Ford Taurus engine is very easy to replace, but there are a few things that you need to keep in mind before you start. The Ford Edge is one of the most popular vehicles in the world, so it's only natural that you would want to get a motor that will keep up with the demands of the vehicle. Its powerful engine and comfortable interior will keep you comfortable, no matter what terrain you're driving through. And it's even got a new feature: voice-activated appliances. That means you can control the temperature in the cabin without having to leave your seat. In Europe, the Ford Edge first debuted with a diesel engine. In the UK, the gasoline engine was not sold. However, in the European market, Ford is now offering the same diesel engines that are used in the Ford Mondeo. These are mated to an all-wheel-drive system and produce 180 or 210 horsepower. In addition, they are mated to a six-speed manual transmission. In the United States, the Ford Edge's engines are equipped with electronic control modules to make driving safer. There are two options for the Ford Edge. You can choose a 2.0 L turbocharged four-cylinder with 280 hp. This engine sends power to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. It has a 0-60 mph time of 7.6 seconds. As of 2022, the 2.0 L is only available in AWD. It delivers 21/28 mpg city/highway. If you decide to go with this engine, be sure to look for a car with a diesel engine. The Ford F-150 is available in two different engine types. The 3.5 L V6 produces 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. Its compression ratio is 12.0:1 to increase fuel efficiency. The V6 also produces a low noise level. The only difference between this engine and the other five engines is the transmission. The standard transmission is a six-speed manual. The Ecoboost 3.0 L/3.5 L engine requires thicker 5W-30 motor oils. A common cause of engine failures is ignorance. The Ford F150 motor is mounted to the chassis, so this important component is a crucial part of your truck's maintenance. It absorbs a great deal of vibration. The standard motor mount is made of rubber. However, it's important to understand the exact specifications of your motor oil. In general, it's best to use a medium viscosity oil, which is less viscous than the high viscosity one. 1999 Ford f150 motor mount is responsible for attaching the engine to the chassis. It absorbs a significant amount of vibration. While a conventional motor mount uses a rubber bushing, a custom-made aluminum or steel motor mount can be even more durable. You'll want to buy a high-quality motor mount if you want to avoid engine problems and to get the best performance from your truck. For many years, the Ford Mustang has been the most affordable sport-utility vehicle. But with the increasing cost of gas and parts, many people have begun to wonder whether or not they should invest in a new motor for their pony car. Aftermarket parts can be problematic for the Ford Mustang and may cause problems including the check engine light coming on, the battery not starting, and even engine failure. Before you buy aftermarket parts for your Mustang, make sure to find a mechanic who is certified by Ford. You will save money by going with an OEM part and getting the best quality for your vehicle. The Ford Mustang is a great choice for anyone who loves a fast car. Its high-performance power and handling will allow you to enjoy your daily commute. You can choose from a variety of engine types, from supercharged to standard-and everything in between. In addition to a powerful and versatile motor, a Mustang can also be made to work efficiently on a tight budget. The MPG version is more fuel-efficient than the V8, so it's a great option for those who are looking for fuel-efficient transportation. While you can still get a V-8 with a Mustang, you can't expect it to be as powerful as a 5.0-liter V-8. In all cases, the optional V-8 loses around 10 horsepower and ten pound-feet of torque. However, the short-deck engine will provide you with plenty of horsepower and torque. It's possible to get a reconditioned engine in just a few days. You should be able to find a Mustang motor easily on eBay. If you are looking for a used Ford V10 motor for sale, you will want to find one that has been recently rebuilt. This motor can run on a variety of fuels and is a great way to get a great deal. These engines are great for heavy-duty trucks, and are perfect for towing. These cars are equipped with powerful 6.8-liter V10 engines that produce over 420 lb-ft of torque. If you want to save money on a replacement motor, you may want to consider a Ford V10 that is in relatively good condition. These engines are not expensive, and the cost of parts and labor can add up fast. If you are looking to buy a used Ford V10 motor, here are a few things to keep in mind. First, make sure that it has a high oil level. If the oil level is low, you will experience the "Check Engine" light, which will put you on the road to replacing your engine. When looking for a used Ford V10 motor for sale, make sure that you find one that is in good condition. The Ford V10 is a very popular engine for trucks and is still in production today. The Ford E-series is a full-sized van that replaced the Ford F-series panel van. The E-series had many changes in the 1997 model year that resulted in a higher cost of a replacement motor. Eventually, that percentage goes up to sixty percent or more. By buying a used Ford, you'll avoid the depreciation. For a year-old car, that value will drop by more than half.Purchasing a used Ford motor should not be a stressful experience. A used 1999 Ford f150 motor is a great way to improve the performance of your car. This popular model has a 4.9 liter overhead cam engine that has a good amount of torque and is able to cover 300k miles. These engines have inexpensive parts, but they are not the most reliable. The nickel material used in the engine makes it much sturdier, which is why you should look for a used motor if you want to upgrade the power of your vehicle. The 302 engine was popular in the 1960s and 1970s, and many different Ford cars were equipped with this powertrain. The engine was a popular choice and remained in Ford's lineup for many model years, despite its relatively small size. Its reliable performance has led to a large fan base and a great deal of respect for the car. The Ford 302 motor is a great option if you're looking to replace a worn out engine in your car. A used Ford 302 motor is an excellent replacement for an old one. A newer model is available at a discounted price, but the older models still have high-mileage. You can find an affordable used Ford 302 motor by contacting a local mechanic or by searching online. Just remember that this engine is only as good as its mileage. Whether the motor is brand new or a reconditioned unit, there is a good chance that you will be able to find a great deal. If you're in the market for a used Ford Coyote motor, you've come to the right place. You can find one at a scrap yard for a fraction of the price. If you're looking for a 1999 Ford f150 motor you may even be able to save money by buying it from a dealer that doesn't charge you a lot. The company has been putting Coyote engines in Mustangs and F-150s since 2011. So, scrap yards are bound to get them from people looking to sell them. Before buying a used Ford Coyote motor, make sure to check the dimensions. These are often the best indicator of the engine's performance. Whether a used Ford Coyote engine will fit into your vehicle is another important factor. The 4.6-liter Coyote engine is a modular engine that can be mated with a variety of transmissions. The 460-horsepower Coyote crate is straight from the current Mustang GT. Coyote engines were first used in the Ford Mustang in 2011, and the engine was very powerful for its displacement. It was based on neat engineering principles and was incredibly powerful for its size. The first-generation 5.0-liter Coyote was the first four-valve V8 in a car, and it produced as much power as a 6.4-liter Hemi with the same displacement. fordmotorforsale.com/1999-ford-f150-motor/

Most Valuable Metals Extracted from Your Junk Cars
Do you know that your junk car is not only a wasted vehicle but so many precious metals assembled together? Some most precious metals on this earth like brass, steel, iron, copper, and many more have been used together in a car. Indeed, the car has gone out of order, the metals have not. They still have their usage active. Therefore, you should not dump your car anywhere. Instead, think of selling a car in Sa. It will bring you handsome cash and several other benefits. You'll be pretty astonished to know what value the metals in your car carry.

Brass
Brass is one of the most surprisingly valuable scrap metals out there. Here's everything you need to know about how to leverage the value of brass as a scrap metal.
Car Parts That Contain Brass
Cars that were made in 1915 or earlier contain large, heavy, and valuable brass components. For example, many vehicles from this era of cars have brass radiators that are heavy and subsequently quite valuable.
If you find an abandoned vehicle from 1915 or earlier that is intact, it would be more sensible to restore the vehicle and sell it whole to any Adelaide cars for sale. On the other hand, if the vehicle is practically totaled, tear that brass radiator out and sell it.
How Much Brass Is In An Average Car?
While there isn't much brass in modern vehicles anymore, it was previously used much more frequently in the automotive manufacturing process.
Steel
Steel is another great scrap metal to sell. It's also fairly common and easy to find in certain areas, making it a smart choice for people who intend to sell a lot of scrap over time.
Car Parts That Contain The Steel
Car parts containing steel include body frames, exhaust pipes, roof beams, and dozens of other parts. Steel is a popular choice for the companies that buy a car for scrap metal. The metal is incredibly strong and reliable.
For example, steel is commonly used to construct the chassis on an automobile and the area that houses the engine because steel can withstand the considerable weight of an automotive engine.
How much steel is in an average car?
2,400 pounds is an average amount of salvageable steel. This is only the average figure for average vehicles. If you're going to sell the steel from an SUV for scrap, you'll get closer to 4,000 pounds of steel out of the deal.
If you're selling your car for scrap metal, the wreckers will target these elements more than others. They're in high demand and dire need of recycling.
