That was when he noticed the bundle in Robb’s arms. He gave a cry of delight and moved closer.

The pup was a tiny ball of grey-black fur, its eyes still closed. It nuzzled blindly against Robb’s chest as he cradled it, searching for milk among his leathers, making a sad little whimpery sound.

Bran reached out hesitantly. “Go on,” Robb told him. “You can touch him.”

Bran gave the pup a quick nervous stroke, then turned as Jon said, “Here you go.” His half brother put a second pup into his arms. “There are five of them.”

Bran sat down in the snow and hugged the wolf pup to his face. Its fur was soft and warm against his cheek.

there’s something so special to me about the casual intimacy (both physical and emotional) of the stark family. robb carrying bran to his horse. bran holding robb’s hand to comfort him. jon ruffling arya’s hair and pushing her around and her laughing and pushing him right back. ned hugging sansa and arya in front of the entire king’s court. they’re always thinking about each other and missing each other. the kids cry and fight and play and are kids, and ned and catelyn are kind to one another, and it’s beautiful. it’s so warm, so human, in contrast with the coldness of other familial relationships in the book.

one egregious thing the game of thrones show misses out on is that the stark kids are CONSTANTLY thinking abt each other!! there isn’t like a single POV chapter from any of them where they don’t long for their siblings!! Jon wants to have a son and name him Robb!! Bran wants to be a bird so him and his siblings can live in a nest together!! Sansa prays for her siblings every night and makes the Winterfell castle and then gets upset bc there’s no one to throw snow at!! Needle IS Jon!! Arya’s list is her own prayer for her siblings, she doesn’t care that Joffrey is dead bc Robb is too!! Every single one of them believes that their big brother will come to save them!! there’s sm love and tenderness there and GOT missed out on lots of it bc it tries too hard for the grimdark angle without realising that the center of the stark’s story is their love for each other. anyways.

Another thing I love about the books is that so many of the diseases and injuries characters sustain have real life counterparts... tyrion's nose taking a long time to heal the scab and lysa tully likely having bpd and her miscarriages being caused by her botched abortion and Jon's age.... hoster tully's illness being very similar to cancer and greyscale being very similar to FOP and lord rosby's coughing being so similar to lung cancer or tuberculosis. khal drogo's death being caused by an infection and jaime nearly getting sepsis after the loss of his hand and rodrick cassel getting an infection after the altercation with the mountain clans... canonical gout in walder frey and doran martell gregor clegane's gigantism and chronic headaches and sweetrobin's epilepsy tyrion's dwarfism and bran's paralysis... say what u will about grandpa but at least george let's his characters be ill

This originally started as a rough sketch to try and figure out how I wanted to draw the Stark children then I blacked out and woke up with this.

Won't be their final designs though, I want to truly work on their outfits which wasn't the case here.

The morning had dawned clear and cold, with a crispness that hinted at the end of summer.

They set forth at daybreak to see a man beheaded, twenty in all, and Bran rode among them, nervous with excitement.

This was the first time he had been deemed old enough to go with his lord father and his brothers to see the king’s justice done.

It was the ninth year of summer, and the seventh of Bran’s life.

Wait, it's been a long time since I read ASOIAF, but did Jaime flopping at Joffreys nameday journey change the history of Westeros? (In addition to leaving Ser Addam Bongwater destitute). Cause Littlefinger lost the Catspaw dagger to Robert in a bet, which was then used in the Joffrey ordered assasination of Bran, which lead to Catelyn taking Tyrion prisoner.

The flop heard around the world.
