hey yall, i just ran out of food stamps and cash yesterday. still battling the heat while i'm living in my car too. if you're willing and able, i could really use some donations or boosts to keep me going.
as always, yall have been super great with boosting my dono posts. genuinely i'd be screwed without my followers and it's wild to me how lucky i am. i'm going to be talking to my case manager about hiring a lawyer to help with my disability case, because i really don't want this to go on any longer than it has to.
anyway, here are the links once again, and a super huge thank you to everyone who boosts or donates <3

When asked about Charles Leclerc's brake issues, Carlos Sainz said: "I haven't been without problems either. In the first ten laps, we didn't anticipate the brake overheating issues we had. The pedal started vibrating heavily during braking, and we began to feel it travel too far. The team asked me to save the brakes, to find some clean air. "It's something you can't understand in testing, but I managed to handle it well. I held on as long as I could, and as soon as I overtook and got into clean air, there were no more issues," he concluded. DAZN Espana via u/zsarok
Sainz had normal brake temperature issues from following a car in dirty air. Leclerc had a 100 degree imbalance between the right front and left front brakes, making it almost impossible to turn the car.
His pathological need to make it falsely seem like he had the same problems as Charles when he clearly did not says a lot about his character.
Utterly classless. Abominably shameless.

Interesting article (long read) on the Rail system's safety measures re: transport of Highly Flammable contents vs. the train's braking system that went into use in 1868 and is still used today in Ohio…

what is lico and why do we all hate it
disclaimer: this is a simplified explanation
lico = lift and coast
lifting: easing off the throttle earlier than usual before entering a corner. instead of staying on the power until the last possible moment, the driver reduces acceleration, allowing the car to decelerate naturally through drag without engaging the brakes
coasting: the car continues to slow down without engine power or active braking, essentially gliding (coasting) into the braking zone
there are a few reasons drivers lico:
fuel management: very minimal fuel is used during lico as the throttle isn't engaged, so it significantly reduces overall fuel consumption. this allows a driver to manage their fuel load and ensure they have enough to finish the race without running into a shortage
managing engine or brake temperatures: as the engine and brakes are being used less, they reach lower temperatures, which is crucial in circuits with demanding braking zones or where cooling is a concern such as brazil and mexico (high altitude tracks with thinner air)
in addition to a loss of overall lap time, lico can accelerate cause graining as the surface temperature of the tires rise compared to the internal temperature
but you can't just... not lico. like if you need to do it you need to do it, having the car overheat or run out of fuel would be a much worse outcome than the few tenths lost per lap from lico

It's not only the fact Charles lap times on the second stint shows he was aiming for the one stop, but also like
Piastri pitted. Before Bryan informed Charles of Carlos considering a one stop, Piastri pitted. Within 15 laps to finish the race.
Even if people genuinely believed Charles was not on the one stop and was managing so much just for fun, do they SERIOUSLY believe that what made him stay on the track was carlos opinion and not the fact the leader of the race just pitted and there are 15 laps to go??????
It makes absolutely no sense to credit carlos here, because if charles pits at this point, he ends p3 or p4 while if he doesn't he ends p1 or p2. I know people like to call ferrari clowns, but cmon!!!!
If he pits he has 0 chance to win, if he doesn't pit he has a shot.
!!!
yes all this!!!
plus honestly if this were a fan narrative then whatever but its annoying if its an f1 accredited pundit saying it on the f1 official site like talk about a major platform for misinformation…

Charles's onboards from yesterday 😱
The way he had to go off track to avoid clobbering into the back of that Sauber. Mamma Mia...

i am never not thinking about freeza trying to win vegeta's loyalty back by offering him goku's kill shot and when vegeta's like 'eh pass sorry' he really says 'fine how bout this and a promotion'
that will never not be the funniest thing to me
#between that and vegeta's 'so much for the 'my dears'' in the namek saga like askldjlaskj he was so obviously freeza's favorite#like freeza's favorite dog to be sure but freeza favorite none the less#i am also constantly thinking about how it seems/seemed to me that toriyama was setting freeza up for a redemption arc by making beerus#do all the things freeza did but with complete moral neutrality#and then showing us more of freeza's personality and insecurities#and even in z reminding us that freeza also did not have a say in what he did with his life he was also isolated and appointed to a mafia#and has no real friends or family just a legion of what Vegeta calls sycophants#and i am so so so curious about what the plan with that was because of db's overarching themes of redemption#and highlighting that vegeta's biggest issue with freeza (in the manga) is that he destroyed his planet -- and then having beerus reveal#to vegeta that he gave freeza the greenlight for it and vegeta still working with beerus afterwards even though he's furious to learn that#and like all of that combined with freeza being like 'hey i know i murdered you but come work with me again' and geets being like#'lol damn that's actually a really good deal but unfortunately i have to beat the brakes off you for personal reasons'#just makes me very Chinhands about where that was going for freeza's character arc#i used to hAte freeza growing up but 1) Again he is much better in the manga and 2) Super really decided to flesh him out more which is fun

Had an idiot pull out of the (completely stopped) left lane directly in front of my car (going ~30 mph, because the right lane wasn't clogged) when driving home today- without signalling, and presumably without checking to see if anyone was coming- and missed hitting them by about a foot when I stomped on the brakes. Then I went to the grocery store, and apparently their website lies about not only which aisle some of their products are in, but also what products they actually carry, so 3 of the five items I made the trip for to get weren't actually there. They are apparently also not carried at the local Target, and the other local grocery store's search function is apparently completely down at the moment, so no way to tell without going in person if they have those spices or not (and the store is a pain in the ass to get out of most of the time- well, at least the parking lot is). Got home, found out that I'll not be able to use the ceiling light in my room for probably a month because it's acting up (flashing when turned on, intermittent flickering at other times) and the landlady is going on vacation for two weeks starting this weekend, so can't schedule a maintenance person before she takes off (and will presumably take a week or so to get someone scheduled upon returning) (she is ordering a light stand to use in the meantime, but overhead is so much better) (worth pointing out tho that I first brought up the flickering at the start of July, before I went on my trip, and it remained unaddressed for a month and a half). Then I found out that one of the keys on my keyboard isn't working (the down arrow), so that will have to be addressed at some point, but this is the week leading up to the start of the semester and is therefore the most chaotic time to a) schedule a repair consultation with the local computer place and b) not have my computer (hopefully only for a day or so).
....yay Monday.
(also had some stuff in the lab not work out the way that it was supposed to- like, diluting a DNA sample should not have resulted in an increased concentration reading. So I get to figure that out with my advisor tomorrow. Yippee.)

don’t mind me, being cringe on main (there are some dlc spoilers here)
...this is. an outer wilds taco truck au
why? Brain is Bad
It’s Outer Wilds Tacos and Outer Wilds Mechanics- despite the names on paper they’re unrelated businesses. Slate owns/is the primary mechanic for the Mechanics. They’re usually pretty busy, but they do all the work on the taco trucks. Esker is their secondary mechanic (when that gets too busy) or the cashier/phones/general ‘I’m here what do you want’ person. They used to help out with the taco trucks, but since the trucks have gotten more people they’re not called on to help as much anymore they’re not lonely sh
Feldspar and Gossan co-founded Outer Wilds Tacos and generally run a truck together. They’ve gotten a lot more popular than they planned, so they’ve expanded a little- they have a few trucks now a days. Gabbro was the first helper- they’re a professor at Local University (...college town) (Physics and philosophy, both) and they’re part time with the trucks for weed money. You cannot call Gabbro to come in on a day off. They are either at their day job or probably stoned.
Chert was next- they work at the local observatory outside of town, and they’re part time for extra cash. Riebeck is a full time archeology student at Local University and full time with the trucks to help pay for that. Hatchling is newest hire, they’re full time while they figure their life out.
Hornfels is a part time astronomy professor, but also is kinda the manager for both Outer Wilds businesses- they do all the payrolls, orders, shifts, booking appointments for everything, all that. Slate Esker and Gossan can (and will) handle that but Hornfels is good with numbers and they’re happy to let them do most of the heavy lifting.
Hal is at Local University and working at a library both; they start frequenting the taco trucks when Hatchling starts working.
Porphy runs ‘Sap,’ a brewery with a huge wine list, and a frequent Outer Wilds Tacos spot; the truck’s there four days out of the week generally, and Gossan’s always there. Both of them think no one has noticed them flirting. Everyone has noticed they’re flirting. No one wants to say anything. Someone put together a ‘this taco goes best with this wine’ menu specifically for Sap days.
(After talking about it with Friend Feef on and off all day) The Nomai run franchised food trucks- I do think their name would just be ‘Greek Food’ but that’s what they sell. It’s really good, though, and they tend to have a bunch of vegetarian options. And really good baklava. One of their more popular items is ‘Eye of the gyro-verse’ which, among the normal ingredients, has whole olives on it. If there’s an even with a bunch of food trucks someone from Outer Wilds will be sent over to the Nomai truck with tacos to trade for a gyro and baklava.
The Owlks (mostly) run hot dog carts with tons of available toppings- Stranger Sausages- that people think is a front for something. They never go under, despite never making a lot of visible sales. They also seem to take ‘vegetarian options’ as a threat, but they do generally have something. Despite the name and overall demeanor, the sausages are high quality.
The Prisoner runs their own buisness- like, a drive in movie theater type thing. It started perking up once Outer Wilds Tacos started working there once a week- they’re doing better than the hot dog carts now.
Finally, Outer Wilds Tacos has a signature dessert taco- waffle cone shaped like a taco shell, chocolate, toasted marshmallows. Optionally ice cream (...Feef is gonna make that, and tell me how it tastes). Getting those is Porphy’s excuse for wandering over every half hour when it’s slow.
