Just a drabble of how I think Soap would realize he's in love.

Soap's Ma always told him that the eyes were the window to the soul, and since he was kid, Soap had watched and observed, gazing at other's eyes whenever he got the chance. He found that they could tell quite the story.

Often men in his field would have eyes, still lit with /something/, Price, his eyes were mellow, dark pine tones, but a harshness that would spring up in them whenever things got serious. Like the bright sun setting behind cold jagged mountains, leaving something frighteningly empty.

Gaz, was more like honey.

A neverending buzzing of bees, flitting about, occasionally interrupted by splashes of chocolate, and a golden glow, like sunflowers bordering an aok forest.

But Ghosts?

It was hard to tell due to his mask, usually. The lighting obscuring his gaze, but not the feeling that came along with it, like a dozen knives being simulatenously pierced into your flesh whenever it would flick to your figure. Soap was used to it, and in fact came to be comforted by the feeling.

It'd happened, only once, Soap got to peer through /his/ window.

They were sitting on a bench, outside, enjoying the fresh air. Soap doesn't even remember what they had been talking about, it'd been forgotten quite quickly. He'd glanced over, Ghosts attention being caught by something. And his head tilted just so, the late evening rays had touched his pupils.

Soap couldn't help but stare.

It was a cold, shivery blue. Dark, and swirling like ocean waves, repeatedly crashing upon a beach, with a current so strong it could pull you under.

And pull you under it did. Soap was transfixed, drowning in the sight before him.

The glass panes and shutters were cracked and broken, but still /there/. They stood strong, battling against the onslaught of waves.

Soap found himself wanting to see a stream spill off from that ocean, as if attempting to empty a bit of itself, despite it's vastness.

Ghost turned back again, and all of a sudden Soap could breath again, those icy blues freezing over the ocean currents once more, the water now stagnant.

He felt a shiver go down his spine.

"Ser..ant-"

The mask moved but Soap could barely hear a sound, a persistent ringing in his ears, as his eyes were a bit wide, just staring at his Lieutenant.

"S..p"

The man in front of him moved closer, brows furrowing and cutting off the bit of light that was left. Soap was staring at an empty room.

"Soa.."

The ringing grew louder, his breath hitched as his heart thudded. He'd never felt anything like this before. Was this what cardiac arrest was like? His body felt, not his, but a shell, something he was viewing. He couldn't move, couldn't speak, entirely transfixed on that window, as the glass rattled as it slammed shut.

"Johnny."

He blinked, one, two, maybe three times, before he regained control over himself.

"Ah."

"You alright there?"

"Aye. Daydreamin'.."

The other man only huffed in amusement, shutting his eyes for a second, and only now had Soap realized just how close the other was. His face only a foot and a half from his.

When those windows opened again, he saw it cracked open, just a tad, as if the curtains had been moved aside, /just for him/.

Today the worms are Connected they're connecting dots and doing a great job at it!

my non-fic worm is kinda branching off the first 1k i wrote for stwg's fic exchange, which then hopped skipped and jumped over into its own idea and now I'm enjoying my down time imagining the shenanigans of Robin sneaking Steve over post s4, like living in her bedroom hiding in the closet shenanigans cause his parents aren't back and the hospital had to discharge him to help other patients and she can't just leave him home alone that's a recipe for disaster so really she basically had no choice but to sneak him in through her ground-floor window with a duffel bag under her bed and steal a couple of her dads button down shirts because Steve's a dingus and didn't bring any even though any pullover is a pain in the back-and-tricep-roadrash right now.

so of course robins parents find out because stashing away a whole ass adult man in a bedroom for more than a day or so is actually pretty difficult even when he's not gravely injured. in my head they're pretty understanding after they get to cool down a bit, its not like steve was never around before and he'd always been polite, plus even if they still did think stobin were secretly dating, they're clearly not doing anything and the only reason Robin didn't just ask was because she wasn't going to take no for an answer.

And then on the actual wips front i had the brilliant why-didnt-i-think-of-this-sooner idea to pick a wip to work on based on what i was brainworming just for fun, which led me to my actual stobin wip and within like 20 minutes i had a couple epiphanies about the connective themes im exploring like realizing what i was putting together without realizing. (cut because oh god this got long fast)

Its ended up being a lot about gender, the imaginary wall between girls and guys in a friendship sense that feels solid just because you haven't had the proof that its not really there yet, the heteronormativity and amatonormativity driving a wedge between possible friendships. in this fic, robins really apprehensive about forming any kind of connection with steve because she's had the experience of guys only being interested in dating that she has a lot of mistrust around and m/f friendships that start forming (and ofc it ends with post starcourt platonic with a capital P soulmateisms 💕). i also have this little struggle where like if i can name multiple important theme-y words i fear ive got too many going on, so i was afraid this whole loneliness thing I've got for robin was going to conflict with the gender thing but i think ive got it sorted, they're different levels and their connected ideas, robins escape from loneliness means she has to break through her internal gender wall and let it be broken, plus the loneliness is going to be more explicit in the text because robins like fully aware of it while the gender stuff is probably going to stay mostly subtext and be much broader, popping up in steves pov area too and really all around them.

also had no clue how relevant it would be but steve and robin are like perfectly balanced blurred gender lines like steve is a masculine dude comfortable in his masculinity that also has a healthy relationship with his feminine trait, the hair stuff the babysitter/mom friend thing, he's not ashamed of any of it (and actually i had a longer post on Steve's gender balance somewhere in my drafts but we don't have time rn) and then robins like practically the same in her expression of femininity, she's as far as we see comfortably a girl, wears makeup, loved that movie about doomed love, she's got her feminine traits but also likes dabbling in masculine traits, she dresses more masc (tho its still a solid middle ground, comfort is a big focus), she likes ufos and creepy stuff and jokes about spider babies in hair. idk it just felt like they're a matching set as far as gender goes, if they did combine into one being they'd be bigender 100%

Yeah no Nikei ain't surviving the festival lmao, I feel like he either gets killed somewhat easily (pretty much everyone can kick his ass in hand to hand combat, he would have among the lower stats in the entire cast. His only real advantage would be the fact his main weapon would be a gun) or he doesn't survive too long before becoming Moonscorched. His Moonscorched would be a BITCH to kill off, definitely a Chaugnar type where if you fail the toin coss you get an instant game over.

I would love to draw more for a sdra/funger au tbh, if anything else pops to mind I'm definitely drawing it!

Also, oooh, I've thought about who would be who, and tbh, I always thought Syobai would be a pretty snug fit for Daan? They both have medical knowledge and their signature weapons are knives, and I always connected that the 'blank soul' was due to the ungodly amounts of trauma Daan had to go through, and. Yeah, I don't think anyone could beat Syobai as far as trauma goes. Or you could also give Sora the blank soul, considering... Well, yeah, amnesia WOULD leave her a blank slate.

Mikado as Samarie could fit considering his very... interesting obsession for Utsuro in the canon game. Then maybe Marina can be Yuki? Lol Mikado as O'saa would also be funny (mostly because the Moonscorched is called Mastermind) and just. Imagine Mikado being his usual insane self, walking around with Utsuro's head deadpanning everything he says. (Utsuro would take Nas'hrah place here ofc)

As for other characters... I think Hajime taking Olivia's spot would be very interesting- I mean, he was also canonically stuck in a wheelchair when he was younger. I need to think about this more... Not sure about any of the others yet.

Also, really, dw!!! This made me really happy!!! I'm glad to not be the only one with the dra and funger brainworm, I'll take any excuse to talk about them lol

I've been feeling this a bit lately too.

I've been a TSC fan for over 9 years - a third of my life! And I must admit that I am basically exclusively interested in the historical side of things (TID/TLH/related content). Like, I enjoy the other stuff, but it's not why I'm here. No real brainworms.

TLH is my favourite series, and that group of characters was already my favourite by far at least 5 years before Chain of Gold was released. And Chain of Thorns being complete has been a really odd life shift for me, and I really miss it already.

The Matthew bindup is getting me through. I'm going to be honest about that. The prospect of its release is keeping me going and I've been telling myself that I'll be getting a 600 page book about my favourite fictional character as a mantra. But that still feels far off, and it hurts, and I am sad.

Engagement for fic is low. I'm facing this problem, too.

But I'm trying to focus on the fact that there are many others like me who love these characters, who want these stories desperately. I, for one, would be lost right now if not for people writing Thomastair fic and popping into my inbox to talk about Matthew. I'd be lost if I weren't writing the fic I want to see. And I've like 5 Thomastair WIPs rn lol

So perhaps we persist for ourselves. Perhaps we get excited for our own sakes, and we share content with the people who want it as desperately as we do.

And OP: your fics are some of my favourites. I hope you know that, and I'm very excited for your next stories (especially the Thomastair ones <3).

I'm tired, and I'm a little sad that people seem to have moved on from TLH so quickly after CoT came out. I want to be honest and say it because maybe someone who reads this post may feel the same way as I do. Please, reach out to me even in anon if you do, because I feel like I've been trying to cope with this realization, and it bothers me so much. I realize people were disappointed, or they simply moved on because the series is complete now, and this is probably one of the reasons why the TLH (and TID) part of the TSC fandom seems so dead lately. It makes me sad because I don't easily let go of things that make me feel better and give me inspiration, and TSC (especially TID/TLH) are the series that made me glad to have started writing fan fiction. But this low content/interaction demotivates me from writing more content myself, because if people have abandoned ship, for the lack of a better analogy, why should I produce more content? It feels like talking to a wall, because one of the things I crave while I'm in a fandom, is interaction with other fans. I know I shouldn't let the low interaction stop me from creating what I still have inspiration to create (believe me, I have four pages .doc worth of TLH/TID fanfic inspiration that I itch to write in the future), but I feel tired of putting my effort into something that doesn't seem to interest people anymore.

Zhongli has been using him as a glorified wallet more often but he just assumed that something got the Archon's interest. So the only other person to ask is Hu tao. But trying to get a straight answer from her is impossible. The most Aether could find out was that Zhongli asked for some time off. Now they were really interested because Zhongli, literally Morax that never took a day off for 6000 years, is asking for time off. There's something suspicious so they follow Zhongli around and what's this? He's meeting up with someone?

And end scene. Haha, maybe I'll continue this later but I wanted to spit that out real quick.

You know when you see someone about to fall, and even if you're 20 feet away from them, you still stick your hands out to catch them even though it's impossible for you to extend your arms that far. That's Zhongli the first time he sees you perform. You're going to give this poor man a heart attack. But after that, it's just pure child-like excitement. Honestly, I've been talking about OCs with fulltimeventisimp a lot lately so my entire brain is in overdrive of making this reader a playable unit that synergizes well with Zhongli. Just for pillar shenanigans.
