Delaine Le Bas, 2020:

propaganda: All of Małgorzata Mirga-Tas art is interesting but I chose this one, because if I asked most people around about any Roma artists they know, they wouldn't be able to name anyone, so I want to high light this amazing art by a Roma artist paying tribut to another Roma artist Delaine Le Bas.

propaganda: The way their faces are replaced by hearts, replacing the features that make them regonicable as individual specific people but makes them the same. The way they are added on to the background just as the flowers making me connect them closer to the flowers then the snowy landscape in the background, like their heart blood, their love made the flowers grow like saint blood. The way I have to think of this poem by Pablo Neruda: "Tie your heart at night to mine, love, and both will defeat the darkness like twin drums beating in the forest against the heavy wall of wet leaves."

propaganda: I love when medieval inspired fantasy remembers that colors have existed back than (this becomes more and more a thing, but a lot of "medieval" media from my youth was so grey-brown!); I am also a fan of the macabre whimsical vibes, that too feels in line with the medieval inspiration, and is something I like to see more of.

propaganda: Fanny Rabel is more famous for her murals, but I just wanted to share some love for this woodcut of her: I love the strenght and dignity given to the subject here.

about the artist: Fanny Rabel was a student of Frida Kahlo!

propaganda: okay I am not sure if Fanny Rabel counts, she emigrated to Mexico with her family, when she was young, but even if not, I don't think you will mind looking at her work - Rabel studied under Frida Kahlo and her art is great.
