Hiii, I love your page and you helped so much with research. I am doing a project for my costume course, I have to design costumes from 1895, 1894 and 1896 are kinda accettable, but I having problems with creating the moodboard for every outfit. I really can't find photos or archival pieces for men, especially a character who is supposed be a 17 years old and I can't really find photos/illustrations of children nightwear (boys). I know by heart every archive of every museum and I even looked on internet archive at old magazines, but still I can't find much. Do you have any niche sources that you would recommend? Sorry to bother you, just a student losing her mind
Thank you so much! And sorry for the wait! I hope you're course is not over already and I'm late with the answer :')
17 years old boy would be already dressing in basically same clothing as men. With nightwear it's also pretty easy, since all people wore basically the same nightgowns, only details would vary. Here's an 1874 example of children's nightgowns, which are long white dresses gathered at the neckline, with long sleeves and often a bit of collar. This is the basic shape everyone wore. They tended to be more simple for children and men. Women, especially rich women, might have some more decorations. Night chemise was also an option for women. It's what it sounds like and shaped exactly like a chemise, with just maybe some differences in details.
Men and boy's nightgowns were usually called nightshirts and while they were mostly the same as women's nightgowns, they were usually a bit shorter by 1890s, usually covering just the knees. Here's an add for children's undergarment with a nightshirt for boys too from 1878.
As for adult men's nightshirts, here's first a 1891 ad with unfortunately quite poor illustration of a man's nightshirt, but if does show the popular style for men, turned down lapels. Here's another example of that style in form of an extant garment form 1900s.
By 1890s pyjamas - shirt and trouser combo - had become fashionable nightwear for men, though nightshirt were still used well into 20th century. Here's an add from 1901 showing both nightshirts and pyjamas. Pymajamas were also used as fashionable evening negligee and while in 1890s nightshirts were still usually white, pyjamas were not and often had a pattern.
Underwear and nightwear are types of clothing that rarely survive history, since they are usually not fancy so they are not preserved diligently and are worn close to skin therefore quite quickly are worn down. That's why ads (in periods when they started to become a thing) are great sources for those kinds of garments. The last add is from a catalogue for mail-order clothes. These are usually excellent sources for the basics, like underwear and nightwear, which were already sold as ready-made garments in stores and by mail-order businesses by 1890s. Internet archive has several digitized fashion catalogues from around the time you are looking for so I suggest looking through them if you want to find more specific examples. This was really the first that came across me that was close enough. Some libraries also have excellent digital collections of old ads, like the New York Public Library (from where the other above ads are from), so their collections are also worth going through.
Hope this helps and I hope this is not too late for your course project!

"Mum I don't want a nightie!" I told her. "...and I don't care if it's a boys one!"
"But... if that were a girls nightie and you were a girl... I'd have bought it anyway." she told me. "So it stands to reason that I buy it anyway, know we know it's a boys nightie."
"How can it be for a boy? It's all frilly and lacy."
"It's high time boys got to wear a little lace and frill, and you did say sleeping in it would be OK."
"But I'd have to wake up in it too." I retorted.
"And wear it from 9pm." she added, that being my pyjama time.
"I'd go straight to bed." I said.
"Well that's me sold." Mum replied, asking the assistant for one in my size.
"In dreamy blue or...?"
"Yes." Mum smiled. "Dreamy blue." she grinned.
"But..."
"But if you keep arguing with me..." Mum interrupted. "...I'll ask the assistant for a baby pink one instead." she said.
"I'm not gonna wear it." I gulped.
~o0o~
Mum unpacked the nightdress the moment we got home. She tittered reading the cardboard insert. "I think the whole point of this nightwear is to encourage boys to go to bed on time." she replied, somewhat enlightened. Reading from the insert she says, "Bedtime is bedtime with Beauboys nightwear."
I gulped. She grinned and unfolded it. "Oh those sleeves!" she cooed as something dropped out of the folds. "Oooh." she enthused. "I didn't realise it came with knickers. I was just gonna let you wear your underpants."
"I'm not wearing those as well!" I grimaced. The bottom half, front and back is row upon row of inch wide frilly lace with more frills around the leg holes and even more around the waist.
"So you will wear the nightie?"
"No."
"But you just implied that you would."
I stood my ground and maintained that I wouldn't wear the nightie or the monstrous knickers. Mum folded the nightie and vocally mused over how pretty it is. Why they make such pretty things for boys I have no idea. I still can't believe that it is, but the packaging is unambiguous. "Don't show it to her!" I yelped as Mum said something about showing it to a neighbour.
"I think she'll think it's really pretty."
"Course she will. and she'll know it's not for you."
"I bet Jessie Carlton would love it too." Mum said. Jessie is a twelve year old girl who lives across the road. Her fourteen year old brother is in the year above me at school and he's a bit mouthy. If Jessie knew, he'd know and therefore the school would know.
"Don't show it to her Mum!"
"No I won't." Mum smiled. "It'd be all over school before you know it."
"Thanks." I gulped.
"I'd still like to show it to Vera though." she said, Vera being our next door neighbour and known for spreading gossip.
"Oh Mum I know what you're doing." I moaned.
"What?" Mum innocently replied.
"You're hinting at showing it to everyone so you can promise not to... so long as I wear it." I replied.
"You've read the label." Mum said. I gulped and nodded.

18. What are some of your special talents?
This title implies an expectation that I might have more than one talent. I was having difficulty thinking of even one true talent I possessed. Then I remembered that I am able to knit. That is, I know how to knit. I do not knit particularly well but I can knit Irish cable but really good knitters knit stitches that are microscopically identical to each other. That was always my aim but now at the age of 86 my arthritic hands are not likely to help improve that talent.
I learned to crochet from my Mom when I was very young. Many years later I was vacationing in Portugal where the houses on the Praia de Salema had hand crocheted curtains in all their windows. To do likewise became my obsession for when I returned. I bought the crochet cotton in copious quantity and chose the window in my kitchen door to be graced with the fruits of my labor. It never happened. I was overwhelmed by row 15 or maybe it was 16, or it could have been 14. I then decided this was going to be an original version of this pattern. This project soon hit the very bottom of my, “to do” list. Years later I flirted with the idea of resuming the project. By then the symbols in the instruction books were all foreign to me and the entire curtain project went to Goodwill Industries.
I learned to embroider when I was about six or seven years old and learned all my stitches. I even mastered getting my yarn going in the right direction to make French knots. I taught my granddaughters, Anne and Kalote, both of whom are better than I ever was and both are artistically far more adventuresome. I did enjoy embroidery work but my hands no longer allow that pursuit.
When i was pregnant with Peter I started taking an oil painting class with Julie Donahue at Catholic University in Washington, DC. I loved painting but truthfully with four children under the age of six, I really did not have time to paint. I never painted enough to become adept or fluid at it. Of the two oil paintings of mine that survive, Kalote will have my still life with apples . My large painting of the haggard women in the depression era is up for grabs and I trust it will find a home after I am gone. It was done at a most tumultuous time in my life. Jay’s drinking had become far more than problematic. He has crashed our Pontiac while driving drunk coming home from a Rugby game in Baltimore. Then he crashed my Triumph Spitfire into the 14th Street bridge in Washington. That was the end for me. The women in this last painting capture my mood at that time. That was long ago and I have always loved that painting.
In the 70”s, macrame became the, “fad de jour” and I bought twine of varying sizes. I made lampshades of many shapes and sizes. Our cottage at twenty mile bay in Ossippee, NH had macrame shades long after the fad had become passe. We sold the cottage furnished in 1984 and for all I know, the macrame might live on.
When I was in 6th grade our school had a loom and we all learned the fundamentals of weaving. My teacher, Sister Bernard, was a very patient and kindly nun. She taught us to string the loom and we each got to weave a towel. My towel still exists. Since it was too scratchy to ever use, it is well preserved.
I learned most fundamentals of sewing. I made all the children pyjamas and the girls jumpers for school. I did sew Peter a summer suit but the mysterious workings of the fly opening escaped me completely. My son had the only little boy suit with dome snaps closing the fly. My neighbor, Joyce Capozzoli, reminded me for years of helping Peter with his pants at her son David’s birthday party. I continued to sew jumpers and Christmas nightwear for my grandchildren. When Hillary bought her first condo in Chelsea, MA my housewarming gift to her was to make all the curtains for the house. I no longer get very adventuresome with my old sewing machine but it has served well and provided much.
I sit here feeling there surely must be more to me but try as I might I find no hidden or obvious talent. I am not good at sports. I am not a graceful dancer. After all is said and done and every avenue explored, I must admit that i have no yen to be incredibly talented. I am abundantly blessed to be the grandmother to Anne, Hillary, Merton, Harry, Kalote and Will. My blessings overflow with the added joy of having Joan, Everett, Laura and Murphy solidly ensconced in my heart and life. Being talented would be excessive.

How they sleep headcannons pt. 2
Part one
Dateables + exchange students
Gender neutral
Warnings: None
Simeon
He could sleep in both socks or no socks. Considering the fact that he falls asleep at his desk fairly regularly socks on is more likely.
HUGS A PILLOW. Don’t ask me how I know, he just does. Even if you are sharing the bed the pillow is going to stay for a while. Gotta leave room for Jesus.
Wears old man pjs like Lucifer but they have fun designs and color. Has a set that Lucifer bought him that’s his favorite. Definitely sent Lucifer a pic of him in it.
Luke
He was a strictly socks only kind of guy back in the Celestial Realm but the Devildom was just too warm for that. Socks off now unless Diavolo switches up the weather, then those bad boys go straight back on.
Sleeps on his front, face into the pillow. Traditional sleepover kind of guy. MC gets a mattress on the floor. Very comfy and quiet compared to the house of lamentation, 10/10 sleep.
Has a favorite shirt from Diavolo with little bears on it Don’t tell anyone he actually really likes it.
Solomon
No socks, Let them floor grippers breathe. Won’t wear socks until it is freezing. He likes the pair of toe socks Asmo got him as a joke. Likes to ~wiggle~ his toes in them bc it freaks out Luke.
Any position goes tbh. He could fall asleep upside down and still have a good sleep. Would probably hug you with an iron grip. Good luck MC this one is a doozy.
His current favorite are plaid pj pants but no shirt but it tends to change every 50 years or so. Asmo really hopes that he goes back to sleeping lingerie one day.
Diavolo
No socks. Have you seen his demon form. Tits out toes out is his motto. It’s also just a little too warm for socks.
Face sleeper, all the way. I feel like he sometimes accidentally transforms to his demon form while he’s sleeping because it’s more comfortable. Don’t worry about this if you ever share a bed though, he will be too excited and nervous to even fall asleep.
Like I said, tits out toes out. His demon form is the most comfortable to sleep in. If he can’t do that he has some loungewear Lucifer bought him that he prefers.
Barbatos
Socks. On. No arguments. The stompers will be appropriately clothed.
Out of habit he’s a very light sleeper will wake up if you move. Sleeps in a corpse position unless he is very worn out. You’re very lucky if you catch him sleeping anywhere outside his bedroom.
Another one who has a classic old man set. These are the only known pyjamas he has. Diavolo has sworn secrecy regarding his other nightwear.
Thirteen
Toe socks, they are fun. She enjoys the chaos of knowing the fact that she can cover each toe with a bit of sock. Has a magenta and pink set she got from Solomon and regards it as the only redeeming thing he has ever done.
Doesn’t have to sleep for a while if she doesn’t want to. Prefers to sleep with an invention of hers near enough that it could be used if need be. Good luck MC.
Likes tank tops and shorts that match. Also likes to have a matching hair tie and has a strict hair regimen. She won’t tell you but she likes doing hair so if she gets the chance you will end up with a new hair style specifically for when you sleep.
Mephistopheles
Socks, appropriate bed attire only. Wait Lucifer wears socks too? No socks, socks are for those who lack class.
Sleeps like a 𝒟𝒾𝓈𝓉𝒾𝓃𝑔𝓊𝒾𝓈𝒽𝑒𝒹 𝑔𝑒𝓃𝓉𝓁𝑒𝓂𝒶𝓃, meaning that he snores loud enough to wake the dead. Likes to kick sometimes. Rip MC.
Has a favorite set of black pyjamas they have a nice pocket on the chest ☺️👍. Don’t tell him Lucifer has the same set, he will loose it.
Raphael
No socks. He wants to feel free of obligations so he finds socks too constrictive.
This man is tired of dealing with Michaels shit. Please let him get at least 8 good hours of sleep. For the love of god, MC, if you’re in the room you better be quiet or he may pull a reverse guardian angel on you.
Not fully nude but close to it, he locks his door unlike a certain nudist sleeper. Just a good pair of boxers is all he needs. It reminds him of the days of loincloths. Good times.

Not a lot of 'clothing' to share but...here's the undies.
Izzy, a classic from Harrods
He'd rock the whole 'Midnight Whisper' range of 'rich widow' nightwear also:
I've decided Izzy doesn't wear pjs as such, but sleeps in these shorts and puts a robe on if it's chilly and he needs to get up. (Dolce and Gabbana btw)
Lucius' pyjamas from Asceno (Just under £500 the set, and those cuffs....ugh)
With one of these bad boys, which does NOTHING but add drama. (Gilda & Pearl)
LOOK at these extra fucking mules from B-Fei???
these ones have a glass orb for a heel??? Bananas! (Lucius has both, obvs, he's like Barbie, he has all the outfits).
And Lucius' bag which went unbranded in the previous chapter, so @little-bloodied-angel suggested a birkin and was right as usual!
Yes, it's crocodile, but Lucius got it in an auction, so it's technically second hand. Or he paid Hermes to make a faux-croc one, dealers choice.
Only like one person will (hopefully) appreciate this but...here's an ongoing post of outfit inspo for Lucius/Izzy in the 'Pretty Woman AU'
Lucius' pink suit was just, this actual suit that Nathan wore.
This is the daytime look for work, kind of reminded me of Lucius' canon outfit.
with the shoes below because what in the free spa flipflops is this model wearing??:
And Izzy's first dinner look inspired by this outfit on Tom Hardy
And Lucius's evening look inspo (I don't like Harry Styles particularly, but he is my go-to for fancy Lucius inspo).

MISCHIEVOUS (PART 2)
PAIRING: Twins!Lee Minho x M!Reader x Male!Original Character
GENRE: Fluff, Angst, Smut
WARNINGS: Can cause some confusion, abuse
SUMMARY: Lee Minho had a twin brother, Seungho, who swung a different way than him or in other words, he was gay and Lee Minho wasn't. The two were a little mischievous under their sleeves and decided to exchange school for a week and would rate how each of their day went.
In the end, you had asked him that same night when you came home, but the answer you received was a very unexpected one. You were expecting something that rejected or denied your claims about him that he was swinging the same way as you and was into someone of the same gender and he practically did, but he still has heart eyes for someone of the same gender, Minho coming out to you as a bisexual man.
You were the very first person he had ever told about his sexuality, even his own brother knows nothing about it. At first, you didn't know whether you should feel glad that somehow you could have a chance with Minho and live the fantasy life you have always showered yourself in or feel sad at the fact that the boy he could possibly fall in love with can never be you and it hurts you even more. I mean, it's Minho for pete's sake. He's totally way out of your league. Sure, you have the looks and personality, but was it enough to satisfy Minho and the people in the world?
Anyways, if the world gave you a chance to be with Minho even just once, you'd happily take it and treasure every second, minute, and hour you are with him. You'd keep them stored right deep in your head and hold it in a special case that will store it securely, so it will never be forgotten even if it hurts you in the end. You'd be just as lucky as a person surviving a hundred feet fall as to become Minho's lover.
You sighed, laying flat on your stomach overthinking. "Should I have.. not just asked him if I was to feel this way after that?" You were now talking to yourself, a habit you have when you start to overthink and become anxious. You give yourself possible options that you could pick that would put you out of the situation you are in. Eventually while trying to answer the questions in your head, you fell asleep still in your school uniform, your pyjamas that you didn't bother to get changed into, when you got home, left somewhere in your cabinet.
The next thing you knew, when you woke up, the sunlight was already peeking through the curtains of your window softly hitting your face, a small groan coming out of you when your consciousness came back to you after an hours long sleep. You pried one of your eyes open, squinting due to your eyes sensitivity to the sudden brightness. You closed them back down and lazily got up on your bed, yawning and scratching your neck. "When did I fall asleep?" You groggily asked yourself, still yet to notice the pyjamas that you didn't know you were in.
You looked at the clock beside you and saw that it was already 9:30 in the morning that got you panicking immediately, cursing a ton of times, while you ran to your bathroom with your towel taking a quick shower, then got out to get changed into your uniform. You were greatly overwhelmed with the panic that you didn't even bother to think about who got you changed into your nightwear. Anyways, it would clearly be your sister since she's the only person besides you inside the house. "Shit, shit, shit! I'm fucking late." You mumbled to yourself, whilst climbing down the stairs only to realize that your sister has already left. "SHE DIDN'T EVEN THINK OF WAKING ME UP?! GOD!" Angrily, you yelled with a stomp of your foot and without any much of a choice, you got outside of your house making sure it was locked and got to the front of your porch and hailed over a taxi as your transportation to get to school.
Once you arrived, you paid the driver the exact same amount for the ride fare, cursing your sister in your head since half of your saved allowance was spent on just a taxi ride to school. You made sure to kill her in her sleep, but of course you were just kidding. (Were you, though?)
Students were already out of their classrooms to spend their recess in the canteen or anywhere, but their respective classrooms. Upon the sight of you, Seungho was glad that you were finally here at school, since he was already worrying about you for still not arriving. "There you are." Seungho sighed walking up to you. "Where the hell have you been?"
"Slept through my alarm and sister didn't wake me up." You replied, rubbing your still sleepy eyes even after a cold shower to awaken your nerves. "Did you have a quiz while I wasn't present?"
"You're actually lucky since the teacher couldn't show up because of a very important meeting." Seungho told you, the both of you making your way to your classroom.
Minho could pretty much say that he was getting a hang of being Seungho for the day and with that, he knew himself that he was doing a good job. Speaking of himself, he was suddenly reminded about the chat he had with you and wanted to check what your reaction was about it. Honestly, he was scared to tell you at first, but he trusted you and thought you'd be the most accepting one. "By the way, did you talk with Minho last night?"
At the memory, you blushed. "Uh... I actually did." You smiled happily in reply.
"How'd it go?"
You giggled and clung onto his arm and sighed in joy with a smile on your face at the revelation that night. "Well, it was fun and I became romantically excited. It may have not meant much to him, but trust me when I say this. Even just talking to him brightens up my whole day." You squealed in excitement, doing a little hop while doing so.
"Damn, don't he remind you of me when you see him?"
You shook your head in answer, the wide smile still glued to your face. "Nope, Minho-hyung is daddy material and you're stripper material." Minho could only choke on his own saliva at what you said, what you said completely uncalled for. He actually never saw you as that type of person and now that he knows, he's willing to know more about you. "You okay, hyung?"
Seungho nodded his head in reply, coughing a little at the stinging in his throat that caused him to cough up some more that got you a little worried, taking out your water tumbler and passed it to him, the latter taking it to drink and soothe the pain he felt in his throat. He sighed when he was successful, you patting his back. "Thanks." Seungho said and you nodded your head in reply as a sign of you saying 'you're welcome'.
"You should be careful next time." You told him, which actually made no sense to the other since choking isn't something that just happens voluntarily and can avoid it when you can.
Seungho raised a brow at you. "Okay? I guess." He shook his head to clear his thoughts. "You should also be careful with what you say next time."
You rolled your eyes at him. "Sure thing." You sarcastically replied as expected by Minho who knew you loved to be sarcastic even during serious moments, for example that time when he sprained his ankle while playing basketball.
"FUCK! MY ANKLE!" Minho screamed out in pain, hissing all the while.
You only snorted at him and sat down beside him. "Sure, you did."
The most fucking evil thing you did, but you had no regrets. Okay, maybe you did, since Minho ignored you for a whole damn week without any pity even when you apologized to him for a couple of times already. So, you never done it to him ever again, unbeknownst to you that the man you would never do it again to was the one you were clinging your arms onto. "I hate your sarcasm, but I guess you're just taking your revenge on me for only laughing when you fall or trip. I guess that makes us fair."
You laughed and nudged him a little, Seungho unusually moving away from you since he felt ticklish at your action. You were a tad bit confused, since Seungho never feels tickled and the only one between the two of them who has a tickling spot near the waist was Minho.
Come to think of it, since yesterday you were able to notice his uncommon behavior. From getting paranoid out of the blue and complimenting you to his sudden nervousness around you at times. So, to try and investigate if your theory was correct, you tested him. "That doesn't even compare to the times you did laugh at me when I fell on my face at the gym last month." You said, making up the whole scenario.
"Well, 'cause that was fucking funny and who wouldn't be laughing at that? Even if you were the one who saw it you'd probably be laughing." Seungho replied with a point that you really weren't a fond of when it happens, but damn was he so caught just because of that. Bingo
Acting bashfully, you hung your head low. "Y-you... you still embarrassed me, though and that hurts me the most, since you had never done anything to help me." You told him, hoping he'd fall for it, and fortunately he did.
"Oh, shit. I am so sorry—"
"Aha! I knew it! You're Minho—" You were cut off through your words when Minho had covered your mouth with his hand. Your eyes almost turned into small crescent shapes when you smiled up at him, his hands still on your mouth, your chest heaving up and down as you laughed.
"Don't say it too loud." Minho told you with a finger on his lips and you nodded in reply. "Let's... uh, talk somewhere else."
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
You both made it to the school garden, you having to be the one to lead the way knowing Minho didn't attend school here, he probably knows nothing about the map of the school. "So, you mean to say that I accidentally confessed my feelings to you that night?" You said to clarify things out with Minho who had his head low in pure guilt, nodding his head like a dejected puppy, but how can you hate him? He's so cute and hot—I mean, handsome. Yeah, that sounds a little bit better.
"Sorry..." Minho pouted, his upper lip sticking out a little bit further than his bottom lip.
You shook your head, stood up and placed yourself beside him. "Don't be, hyung. At least I have nothing else to keep, because, damn, you don't know how hard it was to keep myself calm whenever you're around." You admitted at the older male who looked up at you with round beady eyes that seemed to be telling you he was genuinely sorry.
"But, you do look so calm, now." Minho stated out, you smiling brightly in reply.
"Yeah, I know. I'm more actually relieved it was you this whole time, since I was starting to fear that I was growing feelings for Seungho." You chuckle, Minho raising a brow realizing something.
Minho tilted his head to the side, a small smirk appearing on his wonderful features. "Wait, but I thought you could differ us both. Wouldn't have you already guessed by then?"
You nod your head in reply, two fingers pinching your chin gently. "I already had my doubts, since yesterday morning, but I just shook it off as Seungho wanting to do something for a change once in a while, considering that he never styled his hair brushed back." You answered him, Minho feeling like he was a criminal caught in the act and you just patted his back encouragingly. "I do gotta say, your impersonation of him was perfect."
Minho scoffs, rolling his eyes. "Thanks." Minho was the first one to stand up, lending you a hand to help you. "Now, c'mon, let's get to class." Now, that you are finally aware that you're with Minho, a blush spread across your face, you hesitatingly taking his hand before he helped you to your feet.
"Th-thanks." You bowed your head politely at him, the taller male ruffling your hair that messed up your unkempt hair more. Minho opted to walk, with you going on ahead as he followed behind you, but shyly you pulled on his hand. "S-since you already know about the... uh, whole me crushing on you stuff, do you mind if I hold your hand for the meantime?"
Minho laughs at your timidness. "Seriously? Now, you act all different, only cause you already know I'm Minho?" Minho asked you, you innocently nodding your head at him. "Why?"
"Well, who wouldn't be? After what I said!" You unknowingly raised your voice making you cover your mouth right after in surprise. "Oh, I'm sorry about raising my voice."
Minho humbly shook his head in reply. "It's okay, but what do you mean by 'after what I said'? Did I miss anything you said?" Minho questioned you curiously, but you took this as an opportunity not to tell him since he couldn't remember, a feeling of relief dawning over you. "Oh, come on. What did you say?"
"Nothing." You replied with a giggle, Minho opening his mouth in the middle of telling you something, but was interrupted when Hojin came into view with his usual dolled up face, but something felt... quite not right. "Hojin. What now?"
Hojin only glared at you, before looking up at Minho who he still thought was Seungho with a smile on his face. "Seungho, are you two dating?"
Minho looked down at you to see if you had anything to say to him and when he saw that you didn't, he shook his head. He put on his most convincing Seungho voice and replied. "Nope, but I would if that means you'd finally get away from me. Besides, dating M/n would sound really lovely." You knew Minho was just trying to pretend like Seungho, but somewhere deep inside you hoped that what he said was something he really felt towards you. You wished his words were real.
Hojin smiled sadly and took a deep breathe, you finally noticing the bruise on his neck the moment you looked back at him. "Oh, well.. uh, if that happens, I wish you both happiness." Hojin said, then walking away, a sudden feeling of guilt blanketing over you at the sight of Hojin. You looked up at Minho and saw that he shared the same sympathetic look. You don't know whether Hojin was just being like this to gain your pity or guilt trip you, but the bruise on his neck told you otherwise. You still couldn't tell whether that bruise was just make up, but you had to check on him at least, even if he was annoying.
"I'll go check on him." You told Minho, the black haired male nodding in reply as you followed Hojin's trail. "Hojin! Hojin, wait!" You called out to the male, but the said male spared you his attention and never stopped to look at you. "Please, Hojin, wait." You finally caught up to him and held him by the wrist to stop him, but was immediately taken away from you, although he did stop. "Hojin—"
"Don't give me that pity of yours." Hojin viewed you through the side of his eyes, an angry look all over his face. "I don't want it and I don't need it."
You furrowed your brows in concern and tried to reason out with him. "But, you're obviously hurt. I want to help—"
Hojin clicked his tongue, then scoffing at you in disbelief. "There is nothing you can help me with, L/n. You have already taken away the only man who I found my motivation in."
You knitted your brows, still don't know where he's getting at. "Hojin just listen—"
"Just stop, M/n. Please?" Hojin's voice turned sad and sounded like he really needs some space. "I never wanted to be your enemy. I guess I was just jealous that you get to be with Seungho and be happy, while here I was suffering in the side lines." Hojin tried to sound happy, but it was clear as day that he was scared and was actually feeling so down. "You got it easy, since no matter what you do, people would always find you lovely and be friends with you."
"Hojin.. Please, let's just talk." You told Hojin, who was quiet at first, but sighed seconds later, pressured by your determination.
"No. Well, I mean, at least not here." Hojin eventually gave in, a sprinkle of anger still present on his face. Hojin started walking, with you following behind him closely, a very uncomfortable silence engulfing you both. You just bit and licked your lips to try and ease the deafening silence between you two. You just don't know how to handle silence well.
Later, after what seemed to you was a very long walk, you both arrived at a classroom that was quiet and free of people. Even the hallways were clear, you starting to suspect him. "Uh..." You uttered, Hojin seeing right through you, practically noticing the hesitation on your face.
He took his phone out and typed in the number 9-1-1 on his call log and gave you his phone. "Call that number if I ever try to kill you." Hojin said that ran a shiver down your spine.
"O-okay..." You replied and took his phone, Hojin crossing his arms before entering the empty and vacant classroom. You followed suit and sat down at a chair beside him, Hojin turning his chair to the side to look at you.
"Don't you find it funny?" Hojin started a forced smile growing on his face. "When you're mean, you are hated, but when you're kind, they take advantage of you. I just don't know where to adjust." Hojin let out a small laugh and looked at you with those same eyes that was pleading you to help him, even when he didn't show it. "But, you know what? With all this pain, all this madness I've gone through, I realized something."
You just watched him rant out his bottled up emotions in respect to him and waited for your cue to speak, while letting him continue. "People just really love to hurt you." Hojin added, hearing his voice hitch a little bit, his eyes turning watery at the statement. "People would take you for granted, if you're kind to them. People take advantage of you if they see you as an easy target. Treating you like an outcast, a rug for them to just step on, or a trash. It can even be all three of them." He let out another laugh that you can easily see the pain behind them. You knew he was trying to hold his tears back. You knew that all these words were created one by one with a tragic story that he went through and seeing him like this, you felt yourself start to regret the bad things you said to him. He wasn't even doing anything to hurt you.
"People take it for granted when you're always having hard time to answer 'no' to them, in fear that they would look down on you or see you as a rude person and even if you're kind enough to let yourself become a dog for them, the worst part in that is that they still talk shit about you behind your back no matter what." Hojin said, clenching his fists too tightly until his knucles turned white. "How can the world be so cruel to me?" Hojin let out, out of frustration, taking a handful of his hair and pulling on them as if it would have done something to ease himself.
You gave him a few minutes to calm down and that's when you started to speak. "Hojin, it's not the world that's cruel. It's the people." You stated out philosophically. "Trust me, Hojin. The only mistake the world has given to us was to give us this place hoping we'd develop and cherish it, but we destroyed it completely even ourselves that we thought we could take care of." Hojin looked at you with eyes that glistened with tears, them about to burst out. "I don't mean to say that what you're feeling cannot be validated, but don't blame the whole world for what's happening to you. Blame it on the people who have done you wrong and made your life a living hell. For starters, you can blame it all on me."
Hojin knitted his brows at you. "You didn't even do anything bad to me. If anything you were just trying to protect Seungho-sunbae from me who wanted nothing of him, but his beautiful face." He said, sniffing a little.
"Too honest, but, uh, I think I did?" You laughed awkwardly, trying to rack your brains for any of possible times you have said to him.
"M/n, I was the one who did you wrong. I was the one who humiliated you in front of the whole school with my words..." Hojin trailed off, looking at you with quivering eyes. "...and yet, you still decided to do all this?"
"I have a heart, Hojin." You replied to him with a raised brow. "I'm not a monster." With that, Hojin gave you a small laugh, sniffing a little before silence engulfs both of you once again. "If you're too shy to hug me, I suggest you don't. I don't bite." You broke into a smile opening your arms as an invitation for Hojin to hug you.
Hojin looked at you for a second, before he threw himself at you, forgetting about the fact that he was much taller than you and also, that classes are about to start. "Thank you, M/n." He said, hugging you closer as you wrapped your arms around him, caressing his back soothingly. "You really make a good boyfriend, M/n."
Hearing that, it made you blush a little scratching the side of your face in embarrassment. "Yeah..."
Hojin pulled away from you and you looked up at him with the edges of your lips reaching up to the heavens. "Since we're already, uh, here, can... I tell you something?" You pursed up your lips, then nodding your head in reply. "The only reason I kept bothering Seungho, because you were always with him."
You raised him a brow. "Err.. isn't that already, like, obvious?" You chuckled a second after and saw Hojin shaking his head. "What do you mean, then?"
Hojin let out a stressed sigh at how dense you were. "Do I really have to explain everything to you?" He asked you with full on sarcasm, you smiling awkwardly in return to tell him a wordless 'yes'. Hojin gave you an eye roll for the nth time. "I was only into bothering sunbae, because I wanted to see you." At that, you blinked your eyes several times still feeling confused with a tilt of your head to the side. Hojin let out a sigh through his nose, his brows being pulled together. "You're making this too embarrassing for me."
"Then, just say it—"
"I like you, M/n, okay? Not Seungho. You. I like you." Hojin said to cut you off through your words, blurting it all out, so he doesn't lose the courage he had stored up to this point.
You were stunned. You didn't know what to say nor do, but you couldn't help yourself, but too blush, turning shy all of a sudden covering your face and looking away from him. "Hey! I'm... aghh!"
"That's why I got jealous, angry and left." Hojin explained, yet you were still confused.
"But, you said I took the only man who you saw your motivation in away from you. Are you lying to me?" You told him in attempt to convince yourself that he, in fact didn't have feelings for you.
"Because, you already gave your heart to somebody else. Someone can already confidently call you theirs and it's not me." Hojin pouted, hanging his head low.
"I am not dating anyone, though." You said, Hojin's face immediately brightens. "But, that doesn't mean I want to date you." You quickly cleared out the misunderstanding with a tut of your tongue. "Minho only said that, so you could stope, uh bother—"
"Minho?" Hojin asks, that got you in a sudden state of panic, finally noticing the slip of tongue. "Oh, I guess that's the reason why he acts so—"
"No! I just got, uh, confused with the names and, yeah." You tried to explain, but Hojin knew better than to believe that.
"M/n, do you really think I don't know about the beauty mark on Seungho's nose?"
You huffed and crossed your arms. "That doesn't even make sense." You said, Hojin rolling his eyes again for the hundredth time that day, crossing his arms.
"You know, when you blush, you look really fuckable." Hojin smirks at you, making you blush a deeper red color that made you slap his shoulder hard enough to make him hiss in pain, ypu glaring at him.
Hojin only chuckled at your reaction. "Bitch?! That wasn't needed!" You said and stood up to move to your classroom, Hojin looking at your back.
"Where're you going?" Hojin, then stood up chasing after you, his hands placed behind him. You just ignored him, wishing he'd do the same as well. Hojin smirked when he caught sight of 'Seungho' waiting by a room nearby. "Oh, hey, Minho-hyung!"
"Hey—" The last minute realization stormed over him as he looked at you with wide eyes in complete shock. "You told him?" He whispered at you, but it was still loud enough for Hojin to hear.
"I discovered it myself, plus, what's so bad about being found out? It's just me, you, and M/n who knows about your school exchange with your twin." Hojin scoffed, his arms folded over his chest with a smirk. "Your secret's safe with me and I promise, no blackmailing." Hojin stated, making a cross mark on his chest and raised one hand as though he was doing an oath.
You just shook them off and continued to move to your classroom, not minding the stares you got from the other students, since it was very rare for them to see you and Seungho with Hojin, who would always fight with you verbally. Although, it was a nice sight to them. You three completely looked like a good couple. Perfect for each other.
Hojin got separated with you when you had arrived at yours and Seungho's classroom. He waved you goodbye, you replying with a meek wave that brought a smile upon the junior's features. Minho was happy to see that you helped Hojin open up and feel more comfortable with being himself. He is so proud of you and that smile on his face said it all.
Let's just say, this will be a very interesting rolleroaster ride.
