2 - How loosely or strictly do they use the word ‘friend’?

Very loosely. He calls everyone his friend, even if he’s only spoken to them once — he refers to Ghost as his friend, despite the fact that they Very Clearly Dislike Him, and never leaves the Abyss

7 - What would you tell in the middle of a crowd to find them? What would their best friend and/or romantic partner yell?

Me? I’d be like, “WHERE THE GOD DAMN IS THAT STUPID MOTHFUCK”. He would proceed to call me a bitch from across the room, and I would be able to locate him easily.

Holly, on the other hand, would say they found some type of critter. Laika loves little critters.

21 - What common etiquette do they disagree with? Do they still follow it?

After some googling, as I have no idea what qualifies as ‘common etiquette’, I have some proper answers.

He doesn’t always use proper greetings. Usually he’s just like “hey” or “sup”, unless he’s speaking to someone of high order or whatever the word is, then he speaks “properly”. (e.g. speaking with Chrysanthus/PK, Viol/WL, or other royals)

He also doesn’t always say “please” and “thank you”. Generally, this is because he forgets — he is a self-insert after all, and I also constantly forget to do this.

He doesn’t give a damn about “proper table manners”. Neither do I. He hasn’t cared since he was a kid, same as me.

He also couldn’t give two shits and a flying fuck about minding his language. He swears like a sailor, and on very rare occasion, he’ll call himself a slur. Just like me fr!

He is VERY respectful of others’ personal space. One of very few things he treats with importance.

He doesn’t care about dressing “appropriately”. He wears whatever the fuck he wants. He grew up in Bugaria, and over there, clothing isn’t really mainstream.

(At one point, in the Bee Kingdom’s hive, Kabbu references the choice of scarves and cloaks as clothing items to buy in the clothing shop. He says he doesn’t much care for clothing — and most bugs in Bug Fables don’t wear any form of clothes, either. Leif uses his wings as a cloak, but he’s not actually wearing anything.)

But, in modern variants that I’ve never released, he does use his phone very often. He spams Holly with TikToks every five seconds.

(Oh, and phones also exist in Ette’s home kingdom. But Laika’s never been there, so in canon EP, he doesn’t own one.)

satoru kind of fascinates me as the character who has a knack for and in interest in biology and despite his boyguy grandstanding is fairly intelligent and is probably the earliest character to catch on to the ecological and genetic implications of the things they observed. from the frogs to their demonstrated intellect and similar social structures, and like right here this flew over my head my first watch but it's important that satoru was here to hear this line. BUT he's also like....he also highly values hierarchy and roles including gender roles, is somewhat reactionary (or rather he simply does not worry about the conditions nor finds them protestable as much as the others in the group), and does believe in the innate superiority of mankind even AFTER he's the first one to deduce that THEY made queerats by modifying people who could not use cantus. even as a kid, he is somewhat of a bully to reiko, because he's the quickest to identify how she deviates from the norm and the quickest to conclude that this is because of the "proper order" of things. despite being relatively sharp and academically minded and being often the first to understand What That Means, it doesn't veer him at all towards say saki or shun's tendency to critique or question their own beliefs because he finds such security and value in his home, has a hugely millitant us vs them tendency, and understands deep down that the superiority of cantus users needs to be upheld to maintain it. and it's kind of clever in retrospect that he's the one who tends to be the reason why saki doesn't run with mamoru and maria, and his continued presence is what keeps her spirit intact for her ordeals so that she never really fully loses faith in kamisu 66. and vice versa to him; the only time he ever really threatens to do anything really drastic or counter to the rules is if they did something that would destroy saki, who was at that point, like for her, the only other person left in their group in which "home" is defined. they weren't joking when they said "I dont think I would have made it without you" and that reads as a touching line between little kids stuck in a bad situation at the time, but this continues way into adulthood into each other being the reason why they could compromise on things that they had agreed were unconscionable and degrading and ultimately integrate into a society that both agreed at one point was twisted and had killed all their friends
