just so you know i AM slightly worried about certain plot points being crammed into supercool edit-esque montages rather than getting the full fleshed development they deserve. season one left room for emotions to breathe and mature while season two packs up storylines with heavy load resolutions that feel unsettling.

i think the second act would have benefitted from showing more of what the time gap was like. they did well with the jinx/isha relationship for example but glazed over her status as zaun's symbol, or cait slowly breaking away from ambessa's influence, or pitfighter vi (especially her dynamic with loris) or whatever the heck happened to jayce with the hexcore.

they're focused on getting us from point A to point B and i'm scared we're losing sight of original plotlines that are so integral to the show. like.. with so much left to explore and everyone suddenly teaming up, where does the zaun and piltover conflict lie in this?

Mylo, Claggor, Vander, Silco, Benzo, they’re all alive and Powder never turned into Jinx in that timeline. The only bad thing there is Vi’s dead. What could’ve been…

Arcane s2 act 2 thoughts:

• Was not expecting Caitlyn and Maddie rebound romance but ok (wonder how Maddie will react when cait inevitably breaks up with her)

• Glad to see Caitlyn has calmed down and was aware she was being manipulated so she could ditch Ambessa

• Mel has magic confirmed! And is related to the black rose people? People who know game lore probably understand better

• Sevika, Jinx and Isha is such a good dynamic. Same with Vi

• The sister trio are the best part of the show for me honestly I love them so much. Isha is the cutest kid ever I love her

• I was planning to make the “I’ve only had Isha for a day but if anything happened to her I’ll kill everyone in the room and then myself” joke while I was watching ep 4 and then ep 6 happened. So yeah… I’m broken

• I had a feeling something would happen to her cause her parallels to Powder were too strong but uh. Wasn’t really prepared for them to actually do it

• This is gonna fucking break Jinx

• They could have been happy dammit! They were so close! They could have been a family! But nooooo, it has to be a tragedy! (Which I love but come on! Oh to be a tragedy enjoyer is so conflicting)

• Also Vander and Silco knowing their mother and being close. So Silco actually knew who Powder was when he took her in

• God I love Viktor. Living his best life as a cult leader (or straight up god idk). Jayce when I get you. Honestly don’t know how to feel. • I do think Jayce had a good reason for what he did. Might have been in a time loop or something? Maybe he communicated with Viktor and was told to destroy him? Or maybe he was just losing his mind

• He did keep his promise. But at what cost

• I’m seeing the ship now btw. Didn’t really care for it before. But now… it’s doomed. It’s tragic. Which is the best shipping fuel

• Speaking of the hextrip where the hell is my boy Ekko?! And heimerdinger I guess but this ain’t about him

Late to comment but I love your Arcane fic! You did a good job capturing Vi's character voice, and how she's trying to balance her pragmatism and prejudice against her growing attraction to Caitlyn.

I'm a sucker for how the tickling was actually initiated by another patron first, making Vi think Cait was in trouble, but ultimately getting both to lower their inhibitions with their teasing and venting of their frustrations over each other. It's both sweet and sad how it reminds Vi of a time where she was quicker to let her guard down with Powder and the family she once had.

And the tickling itself was very well described. That striking balance of hilarious, exciting, and exhausting, where even someone as strong as Vi feels herself going to pieces with someone like Caitlyn teasing her abs. Hahah

This wasn't a conscious, analytical decision on my part, but now that you mention it, I think it does really suit their personalities (and their relationship) to have a third party break that particular ice for them. It sort of inverts their usual dynamic, letting Vi be the maternal protective one and bringing out Cait's snippy, caustic edge. Both girls have their own painful reasons to be reserved with one another, and it seems unlikely that either would randomly start a tickle fight or get so physically affectionate out of nowhere - they need someone else to plant the seed and give them a nudge toward breaking those touch barriers down. This takes place before the bridge hug and the implied bedroom shenanigans after all! XDDD

Vi, I imagine, would have very mixed thoughts about this kind of intense stimulation (especially coming from Cait), and she wouldn't really know how to react. It was a fun challenge to convey those complicated feelings through text...I hoped the reader would think that Vi is reluctantly enjoying herself, wanting Cait to stop but unwilling to admit that her heart isn't just pounding from exhaustion.

I really appreciate your thoughtful feedback. It means a lot. In three years' worth of content, this was one of my favorite fics to write. :)

was it perfect? nope. did i still love it? yes!! its such a pleasure to be able to watch this show now, as the fandom is still alive. im really gonna miss it.

some moments i liked included that cait and mel teamup. theyre literally the opposite of their love interests its so cute. mel carried and thats why shes my girl. also caitlyn eyepatch. damn. so grateful mel saves her from that gingerbread man 🙏🙏 also im so ready for mel if we get a noxus spinoff.

also TIMEBOMB CANON BITCH. OH MY GOD. we got timebomb and caitvi back to back. i was FED. ekko is my fav, and its so sad that he couldnt be with pow/jinx in either universe. hope to see him more in other spinoffs. pls 🤞. hes called the boy savior for a reason guys he carried the battle.

and jayvik. wow. love really did save everyone. just…wow. that animation during their sequence was so beautiful.

ofc we have to talk abt caitvi. i was so shocked the scene was explicit 😭😭 (at least in my teenage opinion) but im so here for it. started watching for these two and now theyre endgame.

and of course jinx and vi. i love them with my whole heart. i think jinx’s fate is like a schrodingers cat situation. is she alive or dead?? (i think shes alive) but we may never know. and ive heard people disappointed by her ending and it does feel like a predictable ending for an unpredictable character. but i think it kinda shows her growth. (in my opinion) like she went to the warehouse in s1e3 to save her family. that was her goal. and now at the end, shes completed her goal. protect the family. protect vi.

and oh my god vi deserves the world. shes been through so so much. and at the end it seems like shes finally gotten some peace. only jinx is gone. its so so sad how in the universes where one sister is happy, the other is gone/dead. but she continues fighting. and i think thats my favorite part about her. vi is such an inspiration and im really gonna miss jinx and vi’s stories. but im so excited to see more.

That's a weird reason not to have more LGBTQA+ representation. What's next, there shouldn't be a FtM trans character, because it would outshine May - a MtF trans character?

There shouldn't be a bisexual male character, because it would outshine Blake - a bisexual female character?

There shouldn't be a nonbinary human character, because it would outshine CC and Little/Somewhat - nonbinary animal characters?

There shouldn't be gay male characters, because it would outshine Ilia and Coco - canon lesbian characters? Besides theres already good enough gay characters, like Scarlet (remember him? He existed in V3 for 10 seconds) and Pilot Boi (he's dead and there's no mention of him being gay in the story).

Outside of Fairgame, I can't say there is any other popular MLM ship in the RWBY fandom and even if Fairgame is popular, Bumbleblee is still the more popular ship. WLW ships that aren't Bumblebee or Whiterose already don't get much spotlight and now there shouldn't be any canon MLM ship, because Bumbleblee might not be Miss Popular anymore?

LGBTQA+ representation shouldn't be a competition. We're a community, meant to support one another and that includes caring about other identities getting representation outside of our own.

If RWBY fans want to see WLW representation, why don't they just watch other shows?🙄 No need to force in WLW romance in this story, because what if the WLW ship takes away the spotlight from the F/M ships?🥺

I won't deny there isn't a problem of how MLM relationships gets treated vs how WLW relationships get treated by media and fandoms, but it shouldn't mean MLM have to stop existing. It doesn't mean wanting to see MLM couples on screen is bad and that you don't care about WLW couples. MLM romance still has to deal with homophobia. Just like WLW romance does.

But God forbit a person wants there to be a slight bit of MLM representation in a 10 years old show where most romance is F/M and the on-screen gay romance is mainly WLW (Ilia's crush on Blake, Saphron and Terra, Bumblebee)

My thoughts on Arcane's act 3 of season 2

*SPOILER WARNING FOR ACT 3 OF SEASON 2!!!*

Season 2 was amazing. Absolutely amazing! The animation was drop dead gorgeous as always. Every frame is like a work of art. I could stare at it for hours.

I was worried that the story wouldn't be as good as season 1 but it really exceeded my expectations.

I do feel like that I might have to rewatch the last 2 episodes because *SO MUCH* happens with Victor, Singed and Ambessa that I feel that I might've missed some details. The show might've benefitted from having one or two extra episodes this season. I would've definitely liked to see more explanation on the Black Rose and why Ambessa was so afraid of them. I felt like the show could've done a little more with that.

I thought Mel becoming a mage was really cool. That fight between Mel and Ambessa was awesome. I love the Medarda women <3

At the start of this season, I was hoping for a CaitVi kiss and HO BOY, did this season deliver!!! We didn't just get a kiss scene, we got our girls getting some sexy time. I really enjoyed the ups and downs of their relationship. I will always stan Vi and Caitlyn.

I think my favourite episode is episode 7. The whole AU with Ekko and Powder was just so freaking heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. I was torn between wanting Ekko to stay in that world and totally supporting his decision to return because it's not his world.

The soundtrack is also full of absolute bangers. I can't get enough of "Ma Meilleure Ennemie", "Renegade (We Never Run"", "Blood, Sweat and Tears", etc.

So yeah, I'm very happy with season 2.

All the Classism, Oppression and the love between the two sisters was completely forgotten about and it was just, LETS SEE TWO WHITE BOYS RESOLVE THEIR TECH DREAMS (and im saying this as a jayce and viktor fan).

Even the Caitlyn stuff I wasn't fully happy with tbh, like no accountability, she just randomly started talking about peace after literally gassing Zaun, an act of classism and privilege that was barely acknowledged.

Mel's Arc was GORGEOUSSS! I'm so glad we got more of her, and I loved we got more Ekko, but I'm so sorry he AND sevika should have been on that council👏🏾

He's done SO MUCH for the undercity and his ending was sitting alone, on the roof after doing so much.

Jinx, while we saw her really come through for Vi, I feel like we didn't explore enough of her grief or that she constantly was getting blamed her whole life.

Vi, all her trauma, just completely swept under the rug and for a girl that has been consistently pretty shit towards her. As much as i'm happy we got a lesbian sex scene, and i do think caitvi have cute moments, Caitlyn discounted and dismissed things Vi went through and Vi was always making the sacrifices.

None of that was fully explored.

Arcane is brilliant and there were so many things I loved about this season BUT the character exploration and fleshing out each character equally, which was so prominent in season 1, was missing.

tbh i felt like they sidelined ekko jinx and vi in the end and made everything about that two stupid men and i dont like it

mels and caitlyns arcs are better cuz mel figured out who she is and SHE decided how to deal with her own mother and her heritage, and cait becoming a true leader and fight against the person who manipulated her

MAJOR SPOILERS under the cut for arcane league of legends, so if you haven't finished or still want to watch - please read at your own discretion. (Also it’s hella long I’m so sorry about that, I love this show sm 😭)

Animation- I absolutely loved the styling and design that riot picked for animating arcane, it was not only so beautiful to look at - it was a breath of fresh air in comparison to other animated shows that are out there. It's fluid and fun and just so fucking cool, I know it’s kind of a marketing ploy but goddamn does it make me want to play league of legends.

You’re right, they nailed the animation and details in the show, down to the coloring of the stained glass and the lights reflecting off the wet ground in the undercity, it’s stunning. Character design and atmospheric worldbuilding are a big deal to me when I watch animated shows, if the design is [to be quite blunt] ugly, then I don't watch - or I don't make it very far in the show because it is distracting it me when the show is, in my opinion, ugly or poorly done.

So shows like Big Mouth are really hit or miss - the crude humor plays up the even cruder design of the show and it gives me second hand embarrassment that makes it impossible to get through.

CaitVi >>>> for the fucking win. Good representation of Sapphic and LGBTQ relationships and community without making it a big deal or making it queerbaiting, I adore it. Cait is also just a great character, she makes you understand the topside and even sympathize with it - and you can't help but drool at how hot the two of them are. Vi is a brilliant design and her parallels to Vander and Powder are fucking heartbreaking, the way you can just tell she aches and burns to reconcile (all over a misunderstanding) and she knows that it’s too late, just ugh 😣.

Jinx - the discussions of grief, found family, depression, PTSD are all so intricately woven into the story with Jinx/Powder's plotline and her character arc with Silco and her refusal so let go of her past with those words Vi said to her that night. Her plunging mental state that worsens each arc and we can see her diving into that pit of lonely self hatred that breeds nothing but pure destruction. (The details of her recreating Mylo and Clogger in her room also pack a sickening punch) 

God and the the turmoil Arcane does of getting you attached to these minor characters and then ripping them away from you is brutal. Mylo and Clogger’s death was so sort of expected but it wasn’t ya know? And knowing they were on the brink of escape if Powder hadn’t used the tech makes it so much more painful, I think I was screaming at my TV for a solid 10 minutes lmao. And the brutality that is Silco when he stabs Vander in the back - because it whats he’s always needed to do, and what he’s always wanted to do, but you still hold your breath because god, how could Vander die too?

Silco is another amazingly crafted villain. In the beginning, I thought Silco was sort of grooming Powder to be his weapon, and at moments I think it definitely felt that way, he took advantage of her when she was most vulnerable and broken and molded her to be this vindictive and sadistic version of her former self. Not to mention he calls her Jinx - the very reminder of her failures and that she’s been abandoned. 

Arcane as a whole does a brilliant job of weaving every story together and not leaving a single character out, it makes you invested to the max. Like with Councilor Madarda, I’ve grown to absolutely love her and root for her and wish her everything she wants with Jayce and her family.

Viktor - And god, Viktor my sweet boy makes me want to hug him and fucking show him he’s worth so much more - he’s so incredibly sweet and good, and I think the scene with Sky shows that he’s not a bad person and his intentions aren’t bad at all.

april, most popular:  lmao its “when will men learn how to stfu” fav: “intimacy of damie” sometimes i look back on this and get really emotional jsnvjs its about the little things!! “dragons + magic” tried to do more blending + vibrant colouring w more visual interest for the first time and i really loved the way it turned out! 

may, most popular: “MAEVE and AIMEE” my favv girls forever in their agenda  fav: my first go at a heavily “graphic” style of gifset w my fav boy to ever exist “Jackson Marchetti” as well as my beloved “Maeve Wiley” I spent so long on both of these bc of lack of experience w typography especially, but w enough trial and errors i was v satifisfied w how it turned out 

june,most popular: “icarly swearing” jkvksjn  fav: learning how to clip scenes into a shape was a struggle im actually so embarrassed at how long it took me to figure out from a tutorial jvdnskj but this “wlw characters” set was so fun to make once i got the hang of it  and it being pride month i ofc had to do this “Lexa” gifset bc shes my fav character to ever. tried a similar theme to my jackson one from above to get better at these type of gifsets and overall i was pretty pleased with it, def came out way better than i was expecting it too. also since i wanted to get better with typography i experimented with a type warp and gradient overlay a lot in this “hayley kiyoko mv”  

july,most popular: “yelena being baby” miss her shes so funny  fav: “samdeena edit” and this “samdeena w warrior nun quote” s/o to the insp link w/o them my creativity would be downnn so pls check em out i truly tried my best to do it justice with my own twisty twist and i was v happy especially w the colouring on these ones!  aug,most popular: “Margot Robbie stunt” shes so impressive <3333  fav: “samdeena playlist”  i experimented with a lot of fonts, warps and overlays in this set, i had so much fun making it! as u can tell i really went all out when fear street came out vnjdfnvjd. this “grace i don’t fear the devil” ofc insp from the person who tagged me hehe. played around a lot with blending modes on this one trying v hard to blend the scnes together to make sense. sept,most popular: “wlw romantic lines” i love being gay fav: “maeve and aimee in s3” i liked the way i coloured this one
