HARD AGREE!
All the Classism, Oppression and the love between the two sisters was completely forgotten about and it was just, LETS SEE TWO WHITE BOYS RESOLVE THEIR TECH DREAMS (and im saying this as a jayce and viktor fan).
Like HUH???
Even the Caitlyn stuff I wasn't fully happy with tbh, like no accountability, she just randomly started talking about peace after literally gassing Zaun, an act of classism and privilege that was barely acknowledged.
Mel's Arc was GORGEOUSSS! I'm so glad we got more of her, and I loved we got more Ekko, but I'm so sorry he AND sevika should have been on that council👏🏾
He's done SO MUCH for the undercity and his ending was sitting alone, on the roof after doing so much.
Jinx, while we saw her really come through for Vi, I feel like we didn't explore enough of her grief or that she constantly was getting blamed her whole life.
Vi, all her trauma, just completely swept under the rug and for a girl that has been consistently pretty shit towards her. As much as i'm happy we got a lesbian sex scene, and i do think caitvi have cute moments, Caitlyn discounted and dismissed things Vi went through and Vi was always making the sacrifices.
None of that was fully explored.
Arcane is brilliant and there were so many things I loved about this season BUT the character exploration and fleshing out each character equally, which was so prominent in season 1, was missing.
tbh i felt like they sidelined ekko jinx and vi in the end and made everything about that two stupid men and i dont like it
mels and caitlyns arcs are better cuz mel figured out who she is and SHE decided how to deal with her own mother and her heritage, and cait becoming a true leader and fight against the person who manipulated her

To add onto your colour post. I really hate how Yang is the only one in Team RWBY who's name doesn't directly correlate to her colour in meaning. Ruby = (Ruby) Red. Weiss = White (in German). Blake = Black (in Old English). Yang = Sun??? Shouldn't she have a name that means yellow? You know who does have name that means yellow exactly? Jaune. You know who had a full arc over Yang? Jaune. Might as well call the show and team, RWBJ or RWBA since they care more about him than Yang.
It's the lack of any solid rule for me. Frustrating as all get out.
The funny thing is that Yang is in my opinion the least sidelined member of Team RWBY in recent arcs. She actually gets to disagree with the group collective for a short while (even if she quickly drops any protests every time,) she actually gets to explore her previous interests such as going out dancing or showing interest in motorcycles (even if it's done in clunky ways or it's just presented as a 'bees moment,') she actually has consistently trackable flaws like anger issues and insecurity (even if used badly and not treated as flaws anymore,) she actually is allowed to see and fight Salem face to face and she got to actually mention some of her own motivation by bringing up Raven and (possibly) her mom Summer (even if both of those things haven't been used properly to give her the character depth she deserved and even if Summer hasn't mattered at all to her character since season two,) and Yang is allowed to be a caring big sister who comforts Ruby and sacrifices herself for Ruby (even if the way it was done was horrible and also pushed into 'just another bees moment that still gives no confirmation.)
Yang is an incredibly frustrating character because I want so much more and so much better than what we've gotten and you can really tell how lazy and sloppy the writers have gotten in regards to her, her story, and her interactions with others. But she's still leagues above the others in her team, especially Blake, who actually acts like she isn't even Blake anymore and was replaced by an imposter (who I call Blek,) who still doesn't do anything and doesn't add anything to the story. The show should be called JNPR, with Oscar replacing Pyrrha after her death and characters like Yang, Penny, Winter, etc playing support. Because that's what it feels like the writers actually want, that's what it feels like they want to write for. There's no point in having a show where the four main characters are kickass woman icon characters if the writers are going to put three out of four of those girls on a shelf and tell the other one to play support for the shield carrying blonde actually-has-a-consistent-arc real protagonist who just through a bunch more emotional turmoil again that we all know he's gonna have to work through. I would love to see Team RWBY at the forefront, taking on the world and coming out of the fray stronger. What I hate is that RT is marketing this show as a feminist, girl power show about four women and then consistently proves that they don't care about writing that and put the focus more on characters like Jaune and Oscar, and yes, even Ironwood. Either they don't care or they don't know how, but by volume eight, they should've learned.
(BTW, I say these things as a Jaune fan. I like him a lot and I do think he has one of the best arcs in the show, but damn I wish I couldn't say that and that Jaune's character was one of many good ones and that Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang actually had really fleshed out, great arcs that obviously were treated as more important than his.)

Runaway Lovers
Pairing: Finn Shelby x reader
Warnings: Swearing, suggestions regarding to sex, crap writing?
Requested: yes, part two requested by @hamdehlesmis
A/N: for the part where Finn writes a letter, I’ve made it so the writing is more phonics based. Because I find it unrealistic to have a character who is illiterate to suddenly start reading and writing with the knowledge of perfect grammar and spelling.
Tumblr media
Alfie Solomons was a name that struck cold fear into some on the toughest of men.
His cool and calculating gaze was enough to send uneasy chills up anyone’s spine.
He was a man who had red on his ledger and the mighty hand of God on his side.
To most he was a cold and calculating gang leader- with the proclivity of making violent, rash decisions that mainly benefited himself and anyone lucky enough to be considered a friend.
And most were not lucky enough to have that benefit.
Y/N Y/L/N was lucky to be considered a friend- more accurately she was a close relative of the Jewish gang leader.
Alfie’s Mother, was the sister of Y/N’s mother. The two women were close, but drifted apart after they were married to their respective husbands. Only to reunite during the Great War.
That was the first time Y/N had been in proper contact with her mothers side of the family- and thank God she continued to stay in contact with them.
Otherwise her and Finn would’ve been rendered homeless and well and truly fucked.
Y/N forced herself to drag her thoughts away from what would have been, and instead focused on the passing green pasteurs that sped past the train cars window.
The lack of pollution was obvious and made a huge difference. She was able to see the colours of the night sky, along with the scattered stars- such things that felt as if they didn’t exist in Small Heath.
Y/N felt a soft kiss on a stray patch of bare skin below her ear and at the top of her jawline. Finn.
“Stop stressing love, we’ll be okay.”
It was like he had read her mind, “‘m not stressing.” She mumbled into her palm.
“If you aren’t stressing then how come your leg is bouncing?” Finn chuckled as he pressed another kiss to her temple.
Y/N rolled her eyes. Of course he would pick up on the finer details, it was just another reason why she loved him.
It wasn’t long before the train pulled into Camden Town Station. The whole station seemed to be rather empty- apart from one man who seemed to be waiting for the trains arrival.
He was an older gentleman, who had a scraggly beard and clutched a cane. His face was partially covered from the hat that topped his head. But on his chest, he proudly bore a necklace that held the Star of David.
It was Alfie.
He had changed a lot, the pictures that Y/N had been shown of him depicted him to be younger, lacking a beard. But the face was the same.
“Y/N Y/L/N?” The older man addressed her, a slight smirk on his face, “My god ‘ow you’ve grown- I remember when you were a bloody babe.”
She turned to Finn, a soft smile gracing her features, “Love this is Alfie, my cousin.”
Both men shook hands, each of them sizing the other up.
“Thank you for letting us stay with you.” Finn nodded at the older man, “we really appreciate it.”
“‘S nothin’ alright?” Alfie boomed loudly, “any person whose a friend of our Y/N/N is a friend of mine- now let’s get your stuff back to my ‘Ouse ‘ey?”
The two teenagers followed the older man, out of the station, their hands interlocked- ready for this next chapter of their lives.
It was difficult not knowing what their future held. And what they would face in this grey part of their lives, but Finn and Y/N knew they were lucky.
Lucky to have a place to stay, lucky to be in London. And most of all: lucky to be with each other.
-
Two months later Y/N and Finn were still as strong as ever, and the pair of them had both gotten jobs in Camden Town.
Finn working down at the docks, where he loaded Alfie’s spirits into the boats that would travel across the Atlantic.
Finn had been clear with his girlfriend’s cousin that he wanted no part in the extremely illegal parts of the business. In other words he didn’t want to be a front runner, Finn was quite happy working behind the scenes or on the sidelines. Doing the smaller less risky jobs that helped boost business.
Thankfully Alfie has agreed with him, saying, “If I got you in trouble yeah, or you got fuckin’ hurt- then my cousin would have my balls hanging up above the fuckin’ fireplace.”
Y/N however had a different job role. As she helped run the books, Y/N had her mothers brains, math was her forte and not to mention her and Alfie were close, and her older cousin kept her well protected and safe.
Their jobs weren't particularly high paid and they’d told Alfie that they didn’t want special treatment when it came to their pay- either way they made enough to pay their part on rent at Alfie’s house (which usually meant paying for the food and occasionally the hot water bill).
But neither Finn or Y/N were disappointed, they were employed and bringing in an income. That was more than they’d done in small Heath.
“Y’know, I finally feel like I’m apart of something,” Finn mumbled as he kissed down Y/N’s bare back, “I finally feel wanted by others, that aren’t You, Ada or Pol.”
“Finn,” The girl sighed as she turned over to face him, “You have no idea how much purpose you bring to other people.” Y/N stroked his hair softly, feeling the bouncy curls slip between her finger tips, “Finn because of you, Alfie is finally reconnecting with his blood relatives- he said that if this hadn’t happened, then he was willing to give up on family. And by coming away from the life you had in Small Heath you’re making Ada feel better about her role as a big sister.”
Finn was in a semi state of shock, he had no idea he had made that much of an impact, “And you?” He asked.
“God Finn,” Y/N pressed her forehead to his, “ever since you pulled me back from that drunk driver, I knew that my life was going to be flipped upside down- that I was going to fall in love.” She licked her lips, “I can’t imagine my life without you- you’re my constant, my everything, the love of my life.”
The auburn haired boy pulled his girl close to his chest, peppering sweet kisses to her hairline, “I love you pretty girl.”
“And I you, Freckles.”
“D’you think we should come clean to Alfie- about my family I mean.” Finn chewed on his lips nervously.
Y/N sighed, “I’ll talk to him about it tomorrow, but for now my love we should get some sleep.”
-
Knock, knock, knock
It was one of those rare days that Alfie was working from home, Y/N had overheard his doctor telling Alfie that he needed to take it easy and rest more.
So of course Y/N forced him to stay at home. It was odd really, the pair had only reconnected a few months ago. But already it felt as if Alfie was coming into the older brother role in Y/N’s life, whereas she was the persuasive younger sister that Alfie never had growing up.
Their dynamic was one that many had never seen, there was constant teasing and banter between the two. And Y/N had been the only one to make demands from the big scary gang leader and live to tell the tale.
“Come in.” Alfie’s muffled voice came from behind the other side of the door.
As Y/N entered the office while balancing a tea tray on her arm, when she looked up she noticed her cousin sat at his desk with his specs on, Cyril layed down at his feet.
“Morning, Alf.” Y/N smiled warmly, “I’ve brought you some tea and biscuits.” She sat down opposite him, as he started across the desk accusingly.
“What do yer want aye?” Alfie squinted his eyes, “you only ever bring me stuff when yer tryna butter me up.”
“Well Is it working?” Y/N looked at her cousin as he poured himself a cup and necked down a biscuit.
“Depends that dunnit.” Alfie responded, raising his brow.
“Well I have some news,” Y/N started fidgeting with her hands, “Some news you might not take too well.”
“Fuckin’ hell- you’re not up the bloody duff are yer?”
The teenager promptly felt herself choke on her own spit, “What?” She shouted, her eyes as round as saucers, “No!” Y/N attempted to recompose herself, “Look What I was trying to get at is that Finn belongs to a family that weren’t good to him, he ran away from his old life after his brother tried to force us apart. And we talked last night about finally coming clean to you Alf, because we appreciate all you’ve done for us and we don’t feel like we’re being truthful and-“
“Y/N!” Alfie cut off her ranted speech, “I know that Finn is a Shelby.” He stated simply, “Do you really think I don’t do background checks on my workers Y/N/N?”
“And you’re okay with him?” Y/N was still in a state of shock,
“Well,” Alfie leant forwards, “ma always taught us to not judge a book by the pissin’ cover aye? Sometimes that shit also includes certain family names.” He paused, pondering what to say next, “Look I kept an eye out for the lad in the first few weeks yous stayed ‘ere, in case there was some spyin’ goin’ on. But there wasn’t, it was just a lovestruck boy who’s willin’ to do anythin’ to make ‘is girl happy. So as far as I’m concerned Y/N/N, he’s a new branch in the Solomons family.”
Y/N could feel happy tears brimming in her eyes, she finally saw what Finn meant. She felt like she mattered, like she had purpose for the first time in a very long time.
-
Two months. It had been two months since Finn had just up and left. Tommy didn't think that his youngest sibling what actually hold to his word- he didn't think that Finn of all people would actually quit the family buisness and leave small heath.
And with all of that considered, Tommy didn't know where the fuck Finn had gone. And that was a first in Tommy’s experience- he didn't know something.
It was incredibly frustrating and not to mention Polly was in bits since Finn had just gone missing in action. It wasn't hard to see that there was a soft spot in his aunts heart for the youngest Shelby.
He’d had men search every major city in Britain, knowing Finn couldn’t have strayed too far off the beaten path.
The youngest Shelby never was one for spontaneity, he was too much like his mother for that- he liked to have a plan set out in front of him.
But what made the situation all the more complicated was the war Tommy had made on Sabini, if Finn was in London then there was a large chance that he was in danger.
Tommy didn’t want more blood on his hands, he didn’t know if he could handle more blood on his hands.
-
Dear Pol,
This leter wil onlie be short, but its a leter non the less. All you need to no is that I am safe and happie, and hav started a new life for myself. If you want to meet, then go to Ada’s on Saterday and i will meet you there.
Lots of luv and take care,
Finn
P.S- Y/N is teeching me to reed and rite, it is a work in progres- but I am lerning!
Polly grinned at the letter in front of her, it was most definitely her nephew. Despite it being in letter form, his mannerisms and language hasn’t changed.
The older woman could feel her heart swell with pride for her youngest nephew, deep down Polly knew that the Blinder lifestyle wasn’t for him.
Finn was like Ada in that way- he followed his heart. And his heart has chosen a different path than his brothers.
Polly set the letter down on her desk as she pondered what her next course of action would be, obviously she was going to Ada’s to meet her nephew on the Saturday.
However she was met with the dilemma of how she could get it past Tommy.
One one hand, Tommy was the patriarch of the family- Polly knew that she was practically obligated to tell her older nephew her plans and whereabouts.
But on the other hand, Finn was safe. He was free from a dangerous life, he was happy and he had started a new path.
And that was more than anything Tommy could offer the lad. Polly knew that Finn valued his freedom and happiness over all the money in the world.
Pulling out a cigarette, Polly fiddled with the small stick of tobacco. After igniting it, she took a deep inhale, allowing the smoke to fill her lungs.
Every piece of her heart and soul was telling her to keep Finn safe. Maybe that was just the mother hen in Polly- but she was certain on one thing.
Thomas Shelby was going to learn to live with his actions and consequences of his words, because Polly had no intention of saying a word about Finn’s whereabouts.

Sonic the Hedgehog (2020) Dir. Jeff Fowler
Tumblr media
Sonic the hedgehog saves the world (but actually just himself) with his human pal, James Marsden.
This will not be a positive review, if you enjoyed this film, I am afraid we will disagree.
Sonic the Hedgehog was exhausting. I just wanted Sonic to go away. There were some fun moments. Two of them, actually: the bit with Jim Carrey’s sunglasses that I snorted aloud at, and the bit where Jim Carrey did some villain dancing.
The second worst thing about this film is definitely Sonic, a character whose dialogue seems to be entirely comprised of random pop culture references that kids might recognise. A lot of these references seem like the screenwriter googled “pop culture 2019/20″ and didn’t even click into any of the articles, just copied and pasted the summaries directly into the script. Sonic is neither cute and cuddly, nor human enough for me to want him to be on screen. There is an odd, unhelpful sub-plot about bucket lists that functions as the excuse for several irritating set pieces that had me looking at my watch and wishing I could escape.
I’m sure kids enjoy this film, there are bright colours and weak jokes. I respect kids but I also know that these are things that kids like. They must be, otherwise why would they feature so heavily in Sonic the Hedgehog? Perhaps I was spoiled by Detective Pikachu which was thoroughly enjoyable and had a likeable protagonist. Perhaps I am asking too much of children’s films in 2020.
But then again, is it too much to ask that in 2020, I should be able to leave the cinema remembering the name of any of the female characters? Is it too much to ask that the women in the story are given value beyond the roles of “girlfriend” and “sister”? I don’t think so. Children form their perceptions of gender roles around the same age that they might be taken to see films like Sonic. Surely, this is an opportunity to show all children that men and women can both get involved in the plot, have an impact, make jokes and be memorable.
This is the worst thing about Sonic. The female characters in this film feature predominantly in the home setting, as caregivers and emotional bolsters. How disappointing it must be for little girls to be told that only male characters make the story happen, while the women wait to patch them up and reassure them. These roles seem so outdated that I wouldn’t have been surprised if you told me that the film was actually released in 2004.
There is no justifiable reason for women not to be included in the action of this extremely lacklustre film, but they aren’t. They’re left on the sidelines. Good job, Jeff Fowler, you’ve made a movie from the past.

"He Didn't Do Anything!"
Monday 13th April 2020
Good evening folks! How has your week been? Hope everyone is keeping safe and trying to keep to the rules as much as possible, I know it's been difficult, I myself have been struggling being away from my loved ones. This horrible situation that's happening with the country now, there has to be an end to it, right? Hopefully the end will come soon if we all keep doing what we're doing! I apologise that this post is late, I was up early for work this morning and decided to have an early night last night, I only caught up on last night's episode now ... I'll do another post tomorrow for tonight's episode! I'm sure you've been missing your daily dose of EastEnders? I sure am! We're back with a new week, so lets jump right into it!
There's quite a fair bit to cram into this post ... let's start with Kush and Tommy. We knew there was going to be an upcoming storyline to do with Tommy while his Mum, Kat, is away. Kush is looking after the boys while Kat is aware dealing with some family business, we assume. So it looks as if Tommy isn't doing too well at school, his report isn't the best it could be. Something is obviously affecting the poor boy. When Kush caught him on the staircase and he said "I hate my life!" ... I just felt like saying "Awww poor Tommy!" ... but honestly, no little boy should have to feel that they hate their life. It's true the poor boy has had it hard, both his Mum and Dad are off the scene. Michael Moon was his father and he was murdered. Alfie, who brought him up, is now off the scene and now his Mum has disappeared. The poor boy must feel like he's been left abandoned. Okay, he still has his brother's and step-sister Cherry, but it's not really the same is it? No wonder his school work isn't doing well. But I did have a theory, I have a feeling that that poor kid is being bullied. What else could the story-line be? A young child Tommy's age and being bulled, it can be a huge story-line ... bullying takes place every day, as Tommy said himself, school is the same every day! How will Kush be able to support the young child? Surely he'll have to inform Jean and Mo, if Tommy doesn't want his Mum to know, Kush is going to have to get other members of the family involved so they'll be able to support the young boy. Only thing is, is this story going to continue for when Kat returns? Will this story-line bring back Kat, perhaps along with Stacey? I'm looking forward to seeing what it could be that is upsetting Tommy, plus i'm looking forward to seeing how Kush will cope with the information.
Can we just talk about how cute Jean is? Honestly, she one of my favourite characters, always has been! Gillian Wright is just fantastic at her portrayal as Jean Slater. It's so lovely to see Jean being all smiley and enjoying the fact she has beaten cancer and that her hair is now growing back! It's fantastic she's having the confidence to take it all in and walk proudly in her stride as her hair grows back! The little funeral wig party she had with Shirley and Mo was hilarious! I love the friendship between Shirley and Jean, from the very beginning, it's been a special one! Shirley has always been there for Jean whenever she has needed her, it's a friendship I love seeing on-screen! Does anyone else agree? And yea ... Shirley with long hair! Haha! Not sure what you guys think, but she should stick with the hair style she's got right now?!
Okay does anyone notice a bit if flirtation happening between Chantelle and Kheerat?! Do they have a history, or was it Jags she had a bit of history with?! Did she mention she knew Kheerat at college? But there have a few times there have been hints of flirtation between the two, don't you think? Chantelle is now working for the Panesar's, will things lead to another? Considering how Gray has been treating his wife like a punching bag the past few months, is Kheerat going to be the one that Chantelle finally tells? Is he the one who's going to save her from Gray? I feel there's a lot more still to come from these two, whether it be in a more romantic involvement or whether it's just purely friendship. What do you guys think? Do you agree that there may be something between them? Leave me a comment or message me, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
I just want to mention the scenes we saw of Phil and Callum, wasn't it just amazing to see Phil accept Callum? How he said that Callum was right for Ben, it's something that really made my heart soar. It's amazing the long road Phil has taken over the years to accept his son's sexuality. But to even praise his son's boyfriend and to give him his blessing and making sure what he said wasn't homophobic, it speaks volumes for Phil's character! He's always been known as the hard man, but he has soft spot and his family means everything to him, regardless of their sexuality. But part of me, is thinking, how is Ben going to react knowing Callum has spoken to his Dad? When Phil realised that Ben's hearing may never come back and that it may be the new norm for Ben, it's something that's going to take its toll for everyone involved, especially Ben! But the scenes between Steve McFadden and Tony Clay were beautiful! I'm looking forward to seeing these two join forces to help Ben in his time of trauma.
Ooooh, I didn't like the look of that Michaela when she first arrived as was watching Whitney from a distance! I knew she was going to try to manipulate her into telling her what happened to Leo. Thank God for Ruby and Gray, otherwise god knows what might've happened between Whitney and Michaela. Is what Whitney told Michaela going to be brought up against her in court? Might it have been something she shouldn't have done as it may make her trail worse. Could she be sent down for murder, will Michaela twist things and make Whitney be shown as a murder, when really it was all in self defence?! Who else is looking forward to seeing Whitney's story-line progress? Let's hope Gray will be able to help Whitney as the court will find her Not Guilty of murder!
Okay, so is Vinny trying to prove himself as a DJ to get a job at Ruby's? Well it seemed to work! However, we all knew his party was going to cause trouble ... a party never really ends well on EastEnders does it?! Lets be honest?! I found it good in the sense that it gave him a chance to prove himself and do something he enjoys, not having to work for his Mum ... who he really isn't happy with at the moment, which you can understand. Does anyone else think Vinny has a thing for Dotty? I do!! Dotty may be getting on with her own thing with Bobby and Peter, but little to her knowledge, from the sidelines, I believe Vinny will be watching and longing to be with her! That's what i'm guessing anyway! So we have to focus on a few couples who were at Vinny's party, firstly Iqra and Ash. I've heard rumours that apparently Ash is going to start showing a darker side to her character? Could that mean that she starts being controlling over Iqra? Could she start being abusive? Who knows? Ash didn't want to go Vinny's party to begin with, but Iqra kinda begged her to ... Ash kept bad-mouthing her Mum much to Iqra's disappointment, but she didn't seem to care. I feel there could be something dark about to happen within their relationship, whether Ash turns abusive or manipulative towards Iqra, remains to be seen.
The second couple who attended Vinny's party, even though they arrived late, were Keegan and Tiffany. Before we focus on how the episode ended, Tiffany and Keegan were again the main focus of the episode I felt. Keegan feeling down about not being able to get a loan, and Tiffany clearly showing signs of frustration, trying her best to support her husband but not really getting any support back in return. I feel for Tiffany at the moment, she's trying her best to support her husband but every time something happens, Keegan goes all cold with her and says she'll never understand, which is a bit unfair! However, tonight, they had a little bit of good news, even though it was short lived ... Keegan got his loan from Kheerat, much to Tiffany's help after speaking with Chantelle. But that soon rose Keegan's spirits and the young couple were enjoying life and looking towards a brighter future with Keegan's growing business, only for it all to be taken away again after Keegan was arrested for something he didn't do! During Vinny's party, the police were called and the mob that crowded the police cars, someone body threw a brick at their windscreen, which saw Keegan get the blame! Fans will know that Keegan hasn't had much luck when it comes with the police, for some reason, he seems to get confronted and searched and treated poorly by the cops, for which Keegan feels is because of his skin colour. Is this going to be something that pushes Keegan to the edge and will he decide to stand up for what he believes in? Will he be able to fight for his rights? I'm intrigued to what is going to happen with Keegan's story, is it going to be a continues circle of him being in the wrong place at the wrong time and being confronted by police, or will it eventually lead to him taking action after how he's treated?! What do you guys think of Keegan's story? How do you think it will conclude? I'm really looking forward to hearing all of your theories and thoughts, please feel free to ask me any questions you may like, I'd love to answer them!
Thank you guys for taking your time to read. I apologise once again for it being late, I'm looking forward to writing about tonight's episode, tomorrow! Enjoy the rest of your evening and I'll be back tomorrow! Look after yourself everyone, keep safe and we will get through this together! xXx
