What you’re really looking at is a group of traumatized people who are trying to figure shit out for themselves, because of a lack of a parental template, molestation, disappointment, or all of the above y más. Even parents whom we may have considered to be great are terrible at communicating, so in lieu with creating our paths, we are tasked with not being our parents, losing to our pasts and repeating a vicious cyclic hurt, akin to Willie Bosket and the Boskets, never healing, and never thriving, in effect. To thrive means to mend with our shattered hearts, and only then shall our gateways open. I KNOW A PLACE WHERE THE TABLES DON’T WOBBLE. Footprints and Fela on repeat, smells of Kush incense, and the Western Mind never made it to the shores of Africa. Where your lips are the standard and the Venus Hottentot sits on a throne. No smashed noses or White Gods., at least, not without context of their origins. Black Love so common that it isn’t a term and, no jails, just reasoning and conversation. A place where the ceiling is painted with the Milky Way. The love so real that Black Men don’t gloat over their greatness, nor argue. We just conjure ways to impress you on an action by action basis. And if you aren’t impressed, then we try again.
