not sure how original this take is, but i've seen a lot of frustration about the lack of a fem genius in bsd to complement Dazai, Ranpo and Fyodor. but honestly, i think we as a fandom tend to underestimate Louisa due to her shyness and the failure of The Guild as a villain (which in my opinion has more to do with Francis not being strong enough to beat sskk rather than Louisa's planning itself failing). when Francis explains how he knew the ADA would try to infiltrate the Moby Dick, he doesn't really describes Louisa's talents as supernatural, and we see later for certain that Little Women doesn't actually give her the ability to make predictions; it just gives her time. i think we can all agree that, even with Louisa's ability, most people wouldn't be able to write two inch thick plans including contingencies for every possibility like Louisa does. she's clearly extremely smart, and i don't think we give her enough credit for that.

in fact, i was going to point out that her being unable to plan spontaneously like Dazai or Ranpo doesn't mean she isn't a genius. honestly, though, it's possible that she can come up with things on the spot like that. she might only need the time Little Women gives her to collect her thoughts and transfer them into a form other people can understand since communication is hard for her. similar to Ranpo and Dazai's difference, Louisa and Dazai's difference is in physical power and leadership skills. Louisa isn't a combatant like Dazai.

however, each of the three have their flaws.

Ranpo isn't a combatant either, and Louisa doesn't have to manipulate (for lack of a less negative word) people into following her plan like Dazai seems to do. also, she neither considers herself better than other people nor avoids cases (or, in her case, situations to write plans for) like Ranpo does. like Ranpo, Louisa has clearly earned people's respect, and they trust her to direct them to success. her main flaw is that she seems to struggle with communication, but she still finds a way to work through that to help her organization. i think Louisa fulfilled the same role in the Guild - both the Moby Dick Guild and the renewed Guild - as Ranpo does in the agency, and that's part of why it's so hard to tell how smart she is; she's not in one of the main organizations, so we rarely see her intelligence at work.

anyways! my point is just that we should look past her shyness for once and consider that she likely is on the same level of intelligence as Ranpo, Dazai and Fyodor - or at least close to it - even though it's hard to tell on a surface level due to her portrayal in the anime and even the manga sometimes. and although i do think bsd needs way more complex fem characters, i also think we don't talk about some of the ones we do have enough - especially Louisa.

Watching my friends (and everyone else) have so many favorite characters makes me wonder if I'm the weird one.

What do you mean you have like 1320247382 favorite characters,in whatever piece of media you are watching or reading,while I cannot have more than one because my mind refuse to acknowledge another after the one I decided was the one?

I honestly love that the writers took a good look at Anisa’s route and decided they could do better. That’s a really hard thing to do especially when you have an audience but dear god is it a crime that she only got half the chapters the boys did

Forgetting granted me my “me,” And you your “you.” And I learned that forgetting granted me myself from you. And yet the way we forget is so different. You’re empty, nothing’s there, And for the while nothing needs to be– Nifty, isn’t it? I’m empty, just like you nothing’s there, just like you And god, if there remains to be nothing, I think I might die. I watched someone who, If I were a touch more unfortunate, I’d see to be my father, Get his memories of my time rejected out of his body. My ribs are rotting. // This comic was a challenge I took on to test if I could keep with a very strenuous deadline. 20 pages in one week. It was both difficult and rewarding learning what I could and could not do. Learning to sacrifice quality for quantity in order to meet the ridiculous deadline that eventually took a toll on me physically. I also learned what was the most important aspects for me in comic making and learning to either lean into it or omit it all together. Such a fascinating and physically demanding challenge that while gave me so much self doubt during the process, has taught me to be a better story teller. What I can get done in just a little over two weeks has been a self-justifying journey. The total time period of scripting, thumbnailing, linearting, coloring, and lettering was 2 and a half weeks. I got all the line work done in 6 days and it’s what explains the inconsistency and poor shape choices. No time to revise. I will never do something like this again.
