look! the moonlight shows us for what we really are. we are not among the living, and so we cannot die — but neither are we dead.

IT FOLLOWS (2014) dir. David Robert Mitchell
"When there is torture, there is pain and wounds. Physical agony and all this distracts the mind from mental suffering so that one is tormented by the wounds until the moment of death. And the most terrible agony may not be in the wounds themselves but in knowing for certain that within an hour, then within 10 minutes, then within half of a minute, and now at this very instant, your soul will leave your body and you will no longer be a person. And that this is a certain, the worst thing is that it is certain."

being biphobic makes you ugly
#I saw some people on threads arguing that it’s fine for a lesbian to only want to date lesbians#if her reason is because she wants the shared life experience of being a lesbian#and it was so fucking stupid#newsflash: there are going to be bi women with more similar experiences to you than some lesbians#because no one ever has the exact same experiences regardless of what they have in common#dumb af

To top off the fact that I was already in a mood, I opened a brand new jar of pizza sauce because I’m making my lazy meal of rotini noodles + pizza sauce + mozzarella, dumped the pizza sauce on the noodles and was like oh Christ what is that rancid smell. It was the pizza sauce that was now all over my rotini. So then I had to dump all that, wash the horrible smelling pan, and now I am boiling more water to make more rotini. Jesus Christ

Reblogging this to add a bit of what I said in the tags: I think my main issue is that I am seeing people who just immediately accepted that the shooter was trans at face value, and became more preoccupied with what pronouns they should use over actually trying to confirm whether or not they are actually trans. And that feels dangerous and short-sighted to me to just so quickly accept with no due diligence something that so perfectly aligns with the narrative maga has been trying to sell.
I need everyone to bear with me here for a second because I don’t know how to word this in the best way but something is not sitting right with me that a lot of people on the left are more worried about figuring out if yesterday’s mass shooter was trans not because it’s important information, specifically in the climate of the last year or so where maga try to claim every mass shooter is trans, but because they don’t want to misgender.
Using someone’s correct pronouns should be done even if they’ve done something heinous, but there’s something in the conversations I’m seeing that’s saying more to me that people want to be seen as using correct pronouns instead of being concerned about getting to the truth of the matter, whatever that truth may be.

#personally I’m going to be suspicious of any circumstances like this one where it seems like the shooter might be trans#given the politics of the shooter and the way maga gas been insisting all these mass shooters are trans#has been*#so I think perhaps part of my issue is that it feels like people are falling over themselves to accept that the shooter is trans#so that they aren’t misgendering#rather than doing any kind of due diligence to make sure they aren’t just swallowing down a narrative being fed to them
