I'm personally not fond of the idea that singlets shouldn't get involved in syscourse. But I think it's important that anyone getting involved has an informed opinion. The first thing to know is that endogenic and non-DID/OSDD systems have always been here, with syscourse being almost as old as the internet itself. This is something that's been going on since before you were born.
Non-DID/OSDD systems have played a major role in shaping the community from the beginning. Common terms in the plural community like "headmate" and "plural" were coined by plural systems looking to separate themselves from non-DID/OSDD systems. Soulbonders were the ones who coined terms like "fictives" and "factives." Common system tools like Pluralkit on Discord or the Simply Plural app were made by endogenic or inclusive traumagenic systems.
Research into non-DID/OSDD plurality is still in its infancy, but results have been positive thus far. Before the last decade or so, research into plurality was always focused exclusive on DID/OSDD systems, since those were the ones who would most often seek out psychiatric help. Basically all researchers who have looked into endogenic plurality largely believe there to be something going on.
Dr. Samuel Veissière, in his study of psychological tulpamancy, concluded that the process altered the brain structure in such a way that trying to get rid of an advanced tulpa would be like trying to will yourself to forget how to read. There is an active study at Stanford that will be looking at the brains of tulpamancers during switching in fMRI machines.
I have an entire page dedicated to studies into non-DID/OSDD forms of plurallity.
The people who are telling you that endogenic systems don't exist will never provide any scientific evidence to back up their beliefs, because it doesn't exist.
By the way, no one is comparing "traumagenic" systems to transmeds. They're comparing the rhetoric from anti-endos to that of transmeds, both groups believing that you can't experience what you're experiencing without a medical diagnosis.
It's an important distinction. Many traumagenic systems are pro-endo or at least endo-neutral. A lot of my followers are traumagenic. These anti-endos have created a very hostile environment for not just non-DID/OSDD systems, but also traumagenic and DID/OSDD systems who don't agree with them. DID/OSDD systems who have looked at the scientific evidence for endogenic plurality, believe the science, and are often bullied and harassed by anti-endos until they leave the community entirely or are just abused into silence.
I've seen other DID systems who are diagnosed, know that they experienced trauma that caused their DID, but remember being plural before that. They've been met with the same exact treatment by anti-endos, and are told that their own experiences with their own disorder are ableist or spreading misinformation.
It should also be pointed out that it's not uncommon for DID systems to not remember their trauma and initially identify as endogenic before learning that they're traumagenic. Telling traumagenic systems that they can't be a system without trauma can be extremely dangerous to their mental health. It could lead them to facing trauma before they're ready, or worse, denying their plurality altogether. In the latter case, that's often incredibly harmful to system communication.
I'm not upset. You've clearly been misinformed, and think what you're doing is helping traumagenic systems. But I promise you that you're not helping anyone here, and you need to think very carefully about how your words might affect the people you think you're protecting.
It’s so funny when endogenic “systems” deflect criticism by saying that people are disrespecting their spiritual beliefs when like over half of the time their beliefs are based off of very watered down, appropriated versions of actual spiritual/religious views. Like dude not only are you ableist but you’re disrespecting religious/spiritual people with grounded, complex views lmao
Same goes for when they compare traumagenic systems to transmeds when they couldn’t be farther apart and in fact, is actually very transphobic in itself. Being trans isn’t a disorder, comparing your fake magical identity trans people is disgusting, and comparing people with the disorder that you’re fetishizing to people who try to invalidate and harass trans people is also disgusting.
Basically, endos are the things that they claim their critics are. The lack of self awareness not surprising, but still really sad.
