National Ride Your Horse to a Bar Day
National Ride Your Horse to a Bar Day is celebrated on April 2 every year. This day encourages people to do exactly as the name says ― ride their horse to their favorite bar and enjoy a drink, just like a cowboy! This holiday is recent; it was created in April 2021 by a man called Dale Garwood. Strangely, horses have a long history with bars and pubs, many of which were ‘coaching inns’ with stables attached for horses to rest or be changed for the long journey the following day; many of the oldest surviving pubs still offer such services.
History of National Ride Your Horse to a Bar Day
A study in 2012 that performed genomic sampling on 300 workhorses from local areas and reviewed previous studies of archaeology, mitochondrial DNA, and Y-DNA suggested that horses originally were domesticated in the western part of the Eurasian steppe. Although DNA studies have had varied results, the ‘Equus ferus przewalskii’ — also known as the Mongolian wild horse — is believed to be unrelated to the modern domestic horse. One study suggests that the ‘Przewalski’ and the modern domestic horse diverged about 160,000 years ago. A 2009 molecular study using ancient DNA places the Przewalski horse in the middle of the domesticated horses.
Chariot burials around 2500 B.C. present the most direct evidence of horses as working animals. Indirect evidence suggests that people rode horses around 3500 B.C. One theory proposed that the modern horse descended from the Botai culture, where horses were milked and possibly ridden more than 5,000 years ago. However, despite sharing a small amount of DNA with them, modern domesticated breeds do not descend from the earliest domestic horse lineage at Botai.
In 2021, a comprehensive genetic analysis reported that today’s domestic horses are from the lower Volga-Don region in Russia. A test of 273 ancient horse genomes indicates that these populations replaced almost all the local breeds as they expanded rapidly throughout Eurasia from about 4,200 years ago. It also showed the selection of particular adaptations for horse-riding and the spread of the equestrian material culture — including Sintashta spoke-wheeled chariots. For Asia Indo-Iranian languages, chariots and horses spread together, following the early second millennium B.C. Sintashta culture.

National Ride Your Horse to a Bar Day Activities
Ride your horse to a bar: Self-explanatory, right? If you have a horse and a favorite bar, giddy up!
Dress like a cowboy: As we’ve said, riding a horse to a bar is an old tradition of the Old West, so why not dress as such? Wear some boots, jeans, a belt with a big buckle, a shirt, and a hat.
Talk like a cowboy: If you want to take it one step further, you can talk to the bartender like a cowboy. Look up common expressions such as ‘howdy partner’ or ‘yarn the hours away’ and practice your southern accent.
5 Fun Facts About Horses
They can sleep standing up: They have a ‘stay-apparatus,’ a system of tendons and ligaments that allows the horse to lock their legs in position so they can relax without falling over.
Near 360-degree field of vision: Because of the positioning of their eyes on the sides of their head, they can see almost everywhere and have only two blind spots, one behind them and the other in front and under their nose.
Their reflexes are quick: They can go from standing still to delivering a kick in just 0.3 seconds, while the human reaction time is 1.6 seconds.
They can’t breathe through their mouth: Unlike humans, horses are only able to breathe through their noses.
Their ears are composed of 10 muscles: These let them rotate their ears nearly 180 degrees and move them independently of one another.

yeah I could go ON but I like, would need to collect my thoughts about it first. Basically, Horses were Domesticated in that area of the world (Botai, ~5400ya). The ancient cultures of the Eurasian Steppes are THE OG HORSEPEOPLE. Even into the early medieval period of Europe, not to even delve into Chinese area cause I'm not an expert in that, these horse cultures were feared and respected for their incredible horsemanship and unstoppable might. Without these incredible cultures, the entire world would look so much different. And the use of horses as a cultural centerpiece in this area, it is an unbroken tradition for over 5000 years.

#none of this was fact checked I just pulled it out#so I might have some facts mixed around#tldr#anyway Eurasian Steppe horse cultures are incredible

Are there wild horses?
Yes! ( there are free roaming horses all over the world!)
But actually no ( nearly all of them are feral horses)
Yes! ( the only Surviving population of the wild horse, the przewalski’s wild horse, was “discovered” by westerners in 1881)
But actually no ( the last wild Przewalski’s horse was seen in 1969 and presumed extinct in the wild )
Yes! ( the Przewalski’s horse survived in western zoos and was reintroduced to the wild in 1992!)
But actually no ( research paper from 2018 suggests Przewalski’s wild horses are feral animals)
Yes! ( The researchers findings are garbage, they find that Przewalski’s horses are related to Botai culture horses, which were managed of not domesticated , based on bone/tooth wear indicating use of bits in the mouth, and jump the shark)
But actually no ( the modern population once people actually dug through the records is descendant from 12 Przewalski’s horses and 4 domesticated horses)
But yes! ( North American gray wolves all have some domestic dog ancestry and no one denies they are wild)

7. Pferde im Sport und in der Kultur
Reitsport: Olympische Disziplinen: Dressur, Springreiten, Vielseitigkeit.
Andere Disziplinen: Westernreiten, Pferderennen, Polo, Voltigieren.

wait @claraschaos I have to ask how recent? Because the reintroduced population shows genetic lineage to the Botai horses (ie wild horses early domesticated by the Botai people). Botai horses are generally considered not a descendant of domestic horses (though perhaps a predecessor). As far as I have heard, takhis are closely related horses but distinct enough to be a separate species. I recognise that speciation gets fuzzy in biology but the fuzziness is when one species descents from another which is not the case here — takhis and domestic horses at closest were descended from the same population (and may occasionally have hybridised)

This is a very good question, so let's think about it for a moment. Therapy is one thing, but our work on ourselves is another. Tricking our brain is easy, but does it have long-term effects? If you disappeared into your phone, you feel like you are fulfilling other needs in a very condensed version. These little adrenaline rushes help you detach yourself from reality very efficiently. However, in the long term we find ourselves in a trap from which it is difficult to escape. Although we have an inner feeling that we have compensated for everything, and that is a fact. But at what cost.... We can feel the most nicely in the world. But doesn't it later turn out that we are at the same spot as before?
How can you deal with this? In stages. You will never end this if you suddenly uninstall all the apps and say enough. Because in the end you will go back to what you were.
Instead of uninstalling all apps, uninstall one. And notice how often you want to click on it, and what other app you use to make up for its space. Give yourself time. You have to get used to its absence, then see how many minutes a day you have gained for real life. Be like this for at least a month/two before you uninstall another application.
It's good to think about what you can try to do in real life to fill this time. Maybe it's books, or an instrument. Or maybe developmental films or podcasts.
Getting rid of what destroys us little by little gives space for reflection and gives us a minimum sense of agency over our own fate. This feeling is liberating with every step. I promise.
