The sun is out and I took a little drive around the neighborhood early this morning...just the stretch of Chicago Boulevard from Woodward Avenue until Linwood. Yesterday I saw a bunch of joggers around 730am. Speaking of Boston-Edison, here’s a great place for sale in the neighborhood, which is priced for the TLC it’s going to need to get it back into stunning shape.

This is one of those listings where it’s debatable to show more than one picture. Sometimes I wonder if the photographers who take some of these actually have eyes. Put some effort in, people - the house needs you!

Let’s talk about the price: it’s under market ($69/sf, where it usually averages $93/sf), because the house needs some work. You’re looking at like $150K - 200K worth of work over time to get this back in order. That said, some very minor changes can start bringing the joy back into this place, like removing the non-architectural prison bars from over windows, and throwing out every last dusty curtain, and that ugly mirror over the detailed fireplace - did you see that mantle and tile? Nice!

The stairs look good, and the wood floors are intact, and there’s a tile entry with a coat closet right off it, and probably a half-bath on the other side. 

Bathrooms could use updating, and someone did start to put an early 2000s style kitchen in that can be salvaged. Paint will help in many places here, and please don’t touch any wood that isn’t already painted.

It’s right in the heart of the neighborhood just off the Lodge. 

I kind of want to go over to dust it off so it shows better - it’s got great bones.

A beautiful bike ride through East Boston / Arden Park. 🚲 

I took the QLINE from Mack to Grand and rode to Hamtramck from there. Biking through Arden Park is definitely a nice change of pace from busy Woodward, but be sure to cross the street to see the homes in Boston-Edison, too.

Took a tour of the Charles T. Fisher House, located in the historic Boston - Edison neighborhood. At about 18,000 square feet, it is the district's largest residence. The event ($10 at the door) is hosted by the Junior League of Detroit, which is transforming the mansion into a Designers' Show House. Today is the last day to see it before the transformation begins. It will be open to the public post-transformation Sept. 15 to Oct. 7. Designed by George D. Mason & Company, the home was built for Charles T. Fisher, the second-oldest of the seven Fisher brothers of Fisher Body Company fame. Took nearly 2 years after sitting abandoned and neglected for nearly 2 decades. Too many dramas and seemingly endless setbacks in building and restoring this 110 year old house are nothing compared to the what was accomplished. There were times when I almost gave up but I kept pushing because I know and feel that it will be worthwhile. It is still a work in progress but it is decent now for a show and tell. Lol.
