A type of fanfiction I need that is extremely rare to find is how used the characters are to something.
Like, jutsus, for an example, imagine Boruto (I'm going for Naruto: Next Gen for a better understanding) watching Sasuke and Naruto do signals with their hands too fast for human eye to capture and he stops and just thinks how difficult and how many times these shinobi had to use these hand signs in order to be able to even make it one handed - as its Sasuke case, in which he can even use another person's hand to use jutsus - and Boruto just ignores Kurama, sharingan, etc., etc. and focus on asking Naruto if he even knows what he is doing.
After awhile it must become muscle memory, right? You know you want the result to be a huge tower of water and just effortlessly acts on it, your brain not having to think it through, think about every detail so you don't end up with a small water puddle instead.
I know that Boruto is used with "the fastest you can hand sign the more skilled the shinobi" yadda-yadda but- imagine he has a moment to think out of the box as he analyses his father dueling with his sensei just for the sake of it-

Boruto Shipping Opinions
I’m gonna put a brief aside here to say two quick things to keep in mind before reading:
I am not going to go into great detail or analysis here because I’m holding off on that until the manga wraps up.
I am caught up with the manga, I am not caught up with the anime. I have watched up until the arc the new team 7 infiltrate a prison, the second chunin exams, and whatever clips/moments I’ve stumbled upon being discussed. I am not an avid fan, I do not know all the ins and outs of character dynamics, and I don’t even keep up with that part of the fandom. I have no horse in this race.
BoruSara
I don’t like this ship, and I don’t know if that’s an unpopular opinion. I’ll try to avoid saying “they have sibling vibes” or “they’re just friends” because, coming from someone who has used that excuse in the past, it is very difficult to explain/defend argument. So much so that now it just comes across as cheap to me.
I will, however, say that I don’t like it for the same reason I don’t like NejiTen. It comes across as “he was a boy, she was a girl. Can I make it anymore obvious?” It feels like it stems from the idea that boys and girls can’t just be friends. If the dynamic was introduced with an edge of romance (like how Naruto and Sakura’s dynamic was introduced with Naruto having a crush on her), maybe it would be a different story. But as of right now, it feels like the fandom reading into something that doesn‘t need to be read into.
KawaSara
I hate to say this, but I’m guessing this ship stemmed from SasuSaku fans reading them as “next gen SasuSaku”. Look, everyone can ship whatever they want or choose to refrain from shipping, but I’m sick of the fandom projecting old ships on new dynamics. I have seen BoruSara compared to SNS, NaruSaku, and SasuSaku (for some reason). I have seen BoruSumi compared to NaruHina. I have seen MitsuSara compared to SasuSaku and SuiKarin. I have seen KawaSara compared to SasuSaku. Every single time I thought to myself, “The manga starts with Boruto asserting that he’s not his dad and this isn’t his dad’s story.” I get that comparisons will naturally arise since it’s a sequel series, but these kids are not carbon copies of their parents and they don’t have the same dynamics their parents did.
Now that my rant is out of the way, I think a hypothetical child between them having black hair with pink highlights would be cute and that’s about it.
MitsuSara
I wish these two had more of a dynamic. Both characters have interactions with Boruto and clear dynamics with him, but they don’t really have much going on with each other. They both have recognizable personalities, but they mellow each other out whenever they interact and it makes them boring (I’m guessing Ikemoto isn’t interested in them together). They also only tend to talk to each other about Boruto (at least in the manga). Say what you want about them, but at least Sasuke and Sakura had a dynamic.
Anyways, funny ha ha, Orochimaru gets an Uchiha in the way they least expected.
MitsuBoru
Gayer than any of the Naruto dynamics and that is saying something. However, I struggle to like the ship because I’m just so confused.
First, why does Boruto have so many lancer/foil/rival characters. Kawaki, Sarada, and Mitsuki all act as lancers. I get that writing doesn’t have to be formulaic, but they aren’t even all lancers to each other, having dynamics that bounce off of each other, they’re just lancers to Boruto. At least for me, it’s already gotten really boring and ends in the three’s dynamics with each other falling flat.
Second, the sun and moon symbolism makes no sense to me as a writing decision. The obvious problem is that it’s redundant; it’s already been used for multiple Naruto dynamics. The less obvious problem is that it contradicts Mitsuki’s manga introduction. Mitsuki was introduced as the middle between Boruto and Sarada’s two extremes, taking up a role similar to Sakura’s in the og team 7. If he’s supposed to be the moon to Boruto’s sun, why is he introduced to us as the earth? The admittedly more minor problem that distracts me is that Orochimaru was the one that Mitsuki down this road. Why? Orochimaru wasn’t redeemed by Naruto and has never shown interest in him or this philosophy before now. My best guess is that they’re fascinated by Naruto’s affect on Sasuke, but that still leaves me with questions.
It makes me think that the writer didn’t have any ideas when they introduced these two.
BoruSumi
I don’t like how the fandom is making another love square, but I doubt there’s anything I can do to stop them.
This ship is boring because Sumire is boring. That one anime arc made her interesting, but it’s referenced and relevant so rarely that she goes back to being boring. I’d like this more if the story let Sumire be morally gray or treated her like a redeemed villain more. As of right now, I think the only leg the ship has to stand on is writing tropes and I do not care.
KawaSumi
This ship feels like the product of the same people who ship SasuHina/SasuIno/SasuKarin/KibaHina out of spite. My last post/reblog went into why this happens but the short of it is that it’s easier to ship something in peace if the biggest “threats” to it are paired together. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I have a feeling most KawaSumi shippers also ship BoruSara.
KawaHima
Please… just stop. If not for yourself, then for me. I’m already barely coping with how popular NejiHina is. Why have I seen this as much as I have??? This feels like a personal attack on my sanity. They’re siblings.
Other
This is the section for all the ships I have little/no opinions on. I think MitsuCho is too boring for how popular it is, I think ChoSara should be more popular, I’m disturbed by all of the Eida x next gen ships because she looks and acts like an adult (at least how adults are portrayed in Boruto), and I’m surprised Code x Eida isn’t more popular, but I also think that Code has gotten the Kabuto treatment and isn’t very popular in the fandom.
The ships I haven’t mentioned I either have so little fucks to give or so little information on that I have ZERO thoughts about.

For my birthday (July 10), I want to talk about why I put Naruto as an option for muses that fit with my vibe (over Sasuke) for my poll from here
The (attention seeking) pranks I do with my Naruto (and Obito) are an extension of myself if I had the courage/time/finances to pull it off and the cleanup after. Like Naruto, I felt like I was behind through school (almost repeated a year) and went through that and life in non standard/traditional way, as in my story would surprise some haha.
I can relate to Naruto/Sasuke growing up, while I still have my family around, I never really found someone (IRL) I could call my brother through friendship, or a close group of friends that stuck around long enough to keep in touch with, so there was a sense of loneliness/isolation with that. Still, I worked hard, continued to put myself out there, and now have groups of online friends that I would be happy to visit one day, just like Naruto/Sasuke with their friend group they grew up with.
I have my derp/dumbass moments like Naruto does, and also the wrong place at the wrong time scenarios, lmao. I love my ramen (which usually has naruto in too), and my cup/instant noodles which I usually have while on holidays. I can be creative like Naruto does with his jutsu, and can be a good teacher when the situation calls for it.
My wife I feel is a mix of Sakura and Hinata, like I am a mix of Naruto/Sasuke. As for (next gen) family, like my version of Naruto (and Sasuke) I know I would find a work/family balance and make it work without neglecting either. Actually, I think I am around Naruto’s age at the start of Boruto Next Gen, so all the more fitting, lmao.
Thanks to @historias-multorum for this writing prompt (which was to write about your fav Naruto character), and for all our interactions/ships over the years, even the recent new ones that got me to >> << lmao.

The only time I felt a major arc in Boruto(anime wise. The manga is its own can of worms)was genuinely bad and didn’t make sense was the Mist Village vs Eco Pirates, especially as they threw cycle of revenge BOTH SIDES in even though the Eco Pirates were legit insane and their arguments don’t make sense that one of them sought ReVeNgE because his sister was hurt when Boruto protected himself in SELF-DEFENSE and killed herself in a hospital room by taking off all the tubes giving her fluids and KEEPING HER ALIVE! She was such an irrational spiteful human being who killed herself out of hate but clearly it’s Borutos fault! That he didn’t let her kill him!
Even the oldest son of the Eco Pirates leader who had been raised to believe his father was the only way to protect their clan realized his father was insane and was murdered by his father when he tried to make peace with the Mist because his father was just a spiteful mosnter and their mom was an idiot that died in battle on board a ship when the pirates were RAIDING MIST SHIPS. It was just genuinely stupid.
I think stuff like Naruto’s failings leading to things being worse in areas, like letting the Mist collapse despite being so physically close in location to Konoha and the Fire Country, or him not trusting people the way he does Kakashi or Sasuke, especially as he had no real answer to making things better in Naruto itself, makes sense.
The "both sides uwu" or "cyle of hatred sad uwus" argument, especially how it is depicted in this general verse really pisses me so much and is one of the reasons I vastly prefer 1st gen to the fuckery that was shippuden, and later, as you pointed out, Boruto (I haven't watched those episodes, but reading the wiki about them makes me puke lol)
At least, in the 1st Gen, when Gaara wants to "hurt" the world because his crap dad tried to kill him, Gaara is only 12 and not in the best mental state thanks to Shukaku being an ass, and is proven wrong, which prompts his change.
Shippuden?
Nagato got his uwu moment to justify his "both sides" plan, because his random parents died in a war so in return he will bring "Tru Piss" to the world even if it means leveling a village full of randoms bcs he's pissed at Tsunade telling him to stop acting like a fucking brat and starting more conflicts that cause more and more senseless random's deaths.
(and then the dude nukes the village, including Ramen Guy and his daughter, to make a point or something)
but everything is alright uwu, since he rez everyone and we're supposed to follow Naruto's mindset, about the guy having had a point or something and the "uwu cycle of hatred that somehow includes killing people who haven't done a thing to you because they exist and it's not your fault if you had to slaughter them :("
(that's why, despite its own faults, I think BC is vastly superior, at least with this scene - Asta doesn't kill Patry when he reveals his tragic backstory and despite emphasing with him, he still punches him bcs dude, you killed a bunch of randoms who never asked for anything in your stupid plans)
Madara was the best example with his "wah wah, Hashirama y u kill me, i thought we could understand each other, see u and I are the same we kill because we can't understand each other :'(" after repeatedly attacking the Leaf, and all of its randoms, with Kurama many times.
As for those episodes you've mentionned -
Iirc Kagura was supposed to be the next Mizukage?
And lol @ his randoms friends for apparently wanting to ditch and betray him after they heard they would only get a 3 years reduction of their sentence, that they got, iirc, from the previous arc where they killed randoms and attempted a coup against the Mist???
Again, it's the general trend within that crap verse of giving more fucks to the perpetrators than to the victims - you can't fucking kill people and expect to get away with a slap on the wrist ; 1st gen Gaara understood it and swore to protect the people of Suna, as the Kazekage, to make up for what he used to do and what he used to be, which ends beautifuly with his final scene in the Deidara battle, and is corrected when he "wakes up" - aka his entire village loves him now (even if the later chapters of Shippuden try to retcon this in a Naruto wankering fest).
Anyways, iirc, one of those random dude in this filler killed Kagura by stabbing him after taking him hostage? And Boruto'n'co effectively dropped their weapons to comply to the dude's demands?
And then Boruto apparently goes in "rawr revenge mode" by pummeling randoms and nearly killing a kid, because that's totes how revenge works, I mean have you seen the old Chiyo pummeling Sakura to death because she comes from the same village as Sakumo? (and I'm pretty sure she was faking trying to attack Kakashi during her "senility" scene, because she didn't use any of the techniques she uses against Sasori!!)
Forget trying to build up or shoehorn an "uwu cycle of hatred uwu BaD uwu" with third rate characters in a third rate filler using a convoluted plot on how "killing terrorists BaD because their families will hate you afterwards :("
Why don't we have any samurai going to Konoha and having a beef with Sarada because Sasuke killed some of them during the land of iron arc? Like Pedro the Samurai's daughter, or niece, or grand-daughter ? I legit thought the samurai girl character would be something like this, but no, she's just pure filler material.
It's not a fair comparison at all, but I was re-re watching FMAB a few days ago, and I vastly prefer the "cycle of revenge" and Scar's general arc to whatever Kishimoto and whoever the fuck works on Boruto tried to give us.
Kishi's world is stupid enough to apparently make everyone accept Naruto's decisions even if those same decisions, if they were made by anyone else or during the Shippuden Era (or even the first gen), would have declared several wars or have been criticised to oblivion.
At least, the later manga reveals he is a shit hokage, even Shikamaru shits on him - and he receives the worst punishment ever, being fridged with "the woman who makes diner in his home" lol

If borusara was really canon then anime would likely make it more clear from the start. The hokage mountain scene where salad blush at bolt for his promise to her parallels sakura blushing naruto after meeting timeskip and also chunin arc bolt shying away from salad because of her leaning close to him again parallels hinata sakura scence in the last movie. There is nothing new for their so called bsa moments all are rip-off of ns moments and sakura hinata parallels.
The manga makes boruto treat salad the same as others, like he is shown annoyed and even bored with her, but boruto treats hina, hima and sumire diffrently with respect and even shown sharing his thought and concerns with them so it's easily clear bsa bullshit dynamics.
The manga makes it clear that Boruto doesn't see her that way and vice verse. The only reason the movie did that blush was cause the next gen manga wasn't planned yet and they didn't have any other girl to pair with Boruto.
Plus in Naruto movies its a thing to make a girl a love interest.

risky.
"The first and last risky thing my older sister ever did was marry your father and take his surname," Hanabi-neechan told him two weeks before her wedding. She dragged him to wrap the hidekimono. His grandfather was meeting up with some old friends, and somehow all the distant female cousins and aunties who used to surround and fuss over his aunt for the past month were nowhere to be seen. "The elders were very, very furious. They had failed to get her to take an interest in one of the distant cousins and keep her within the clan. And she dared to ask that his future children would use the name Uzumaki instead of Hyuuga? It was an audacious, even impudent request. And your father didn't even refuse to become a Hyuuga. Oh, Naruto-niisan will pick stars just for her. But my dear sister was very adamant in her stance, and her demand was granted with much reluctance and on one condition."
"Condition?" Boruto raised an eyebrow.
"Every child with the Byakugan that comes from her and Naruto-niisan will remarry into the clan without exception." Hanabi-neechan placed the carved wooden box containing the chopsticks that would become her hidekimono on top of the pile. "When she was pregnant with you, she prayed day and night so that you were born with blue eyes, as she did when she was with Himawari. But as we can see, unfortunately, Himawari has the Byakugan, for all of my sister's unspeakable sorrow and disappointment. Be thankful you didn't get one, would you?"
Boruto thought about how his mother sometimes looked at Himawari sadly, how her eyes never see the blue seal that protected the Byakugan around his sister's neck, and how she never seemed too pleased when people compliment Himawari's resemblance to her. He always thought it was odd—shouldn't parents like to be told they have kids who look just like them?—but never bothered to ask.
"Does she hate the clan?" he asked carefully, secretly afraid of the answer. "Or the Byakugan in general?"
There was no way her mother hated her clan. She wouldn't take them into the compound every few weeks if she did. Boruto grew up remembering that this clan was also his family, regardless of how bright the contrast of his hair color in their midst was. That he had the same familial duty to his grandfather and aunt as to his father's parents and Iruka-jiji. That if anything terrible happened to his parents, he and Himawari would go to the compound to be raised. This was his legacy, too; Hyuuga was as heavy as Uzumaki.
His mother still interfered a lot in caring for the clan, especially the children. Three times a week, she went to train the children with Jyuuken at the dojo. Once or twice, in an emergency of clan diplomacy with outsiders, she would be sent on missions to accompany his grandfather or aunt.
"Not really." Hanabi-neechan waved her hand casually. "After all, this clan is her blood. We were not raised to hate our own kin. Dissatisfied and sad, always, I guess; on bad days, she objected to the clan rules and disliked them. But that's it. Even so, I saw her having an amazingly big, bright smile on the day she moved in after the wedding." Her tone was filled with nostalgia and soft, almost mushy. "Marriage is good for her."
"Do you think marriage is not good for you that you get married so late?"
Hanabi-neechan's grin almost parted her face. "Ah," she said, amused, almost dismissively. "It's never too late or too old for a wedding."
Boruto wanted to say that she was over thirty, which caused her to be old, but he knew he would get a headlock if he said so, so he kept his mouth shut.
"Not every girl is excited about being a wife," she later stated. "I'm quite happy with the idea of being a bride. Shiromuku is a very gorgerous, lovely outfit. But being a wife and mother comes with obligations and expectations that can put pressure on a person. These two things shouldn't be exclusive, of course, but as the sole heir clan, I am obligated to have at least one sprog. God forbid this long line of family and clanleadership died on my behalf."
She didn't sound bitter or resigned, but neither was she happy, Boruto thought. He knew obligation and its price, how heavy responsibility was on your shoulders, and dutiful wasn't always easy. His mother made sure he knew. His aunt was not made for housekeeping or domesticity like his mother. He was shaped to stir people's minds in interrogation, rough hands pushing forward instead of cradling and nurturing something. And so was Konohamaru-niichan's. They were good, brilliant teachers, but teachers and parents were different.
"Neji-jichan has three children with the Byakugan." Boruto reminded her. "Shouldn't that line continue to him and Takku-nii?"
"He had suffered enough already," Hanabi-neechan said sharply. Her voice left no room for debate. Boruto often heard that tone from her and his mother about Neji-jichan. It was something related to the forbidden topic from their childhood. One day, he was determined to find out. "And that has been discussed before; a billion ryo was not enough to persuade him to approach clan politics other than for a frenetic revolution. After all, Tenten will take her children running across the continent before she lets them be bound by my obligations."
"Oh."
"Don't tell your mother that you know," she said, refusing to meet his eyes, "but ever since she was born, Himawari has been my unofficial heir. She is, to this day, until I give birth to a living, breathing baby with the Byakugan. My dearest sister secretly resents the idea."
"Why?" asked Boruto, confused. "Himawari will still have to marry one of the distant cousins later. No difference." He wondered if his twelve-year-old little sister knew that half of her life was predetermined long before their parents were married.
"The life of the Hyuuga heir—heiress, espicially—is never easy, and the last thing she will give you two is the cloak of hardship and sadness that accompanied us growing up. How relieved she was when we announced the engagement was matched only when she saw what color your eyes were for the first time."
"And you want that for your child?"
"We are both clan children." Hanabi-neechan smiled. "We know how to keep life bright and breezy between responsibilities. Konohamaru knows how to raise an heir. Your father doesn't, and your mother will not have the heart to force him into this tortuous clan politics. Becoming the Hokage's family is hard enough without any other complications."

I've found your blog yesterday and I'm now reading everything because of how good it is.
I've never read/watched Naruto /Boruto (except for the first two Naruto mangas) but from what I've seen, B! Naruto and B! Sasukr make me think they are unhappy.
Because, how can you explain Naruto "I love my friends" "I'll bring my best friend home no matter what" Uzumaki ignoring is family? Also, I'm not sure if I'm correct but from what I understand, the next gen doesn't know Naruto. They know he's the Hokage and that's it.
The real Naruto would have been that cool Uncle that brings his nieces/nephews gifs, spends every possible moment with them and tell them ALL of the embarrassing memories. But he doesn't. Almost as if he was scared his friends found out he's unhappy.
And Sasuke. Mayby he isn't the most expressive or touchy person but to abandon his DAUGHTER for years and never write? Yeah, something smells fishy here
My theory is that Naruto married Hinata but isn't happy with her. He knows she loves him and he loves her too but not in "that way". And he loves his kids but they are a reminder he has made a mistake and can't do anything about it. Sasuke on the other hand, leaves Konoha so much is because he doesn't want to see the person that he loves/cares about with someone else.
Is it possible? Or not really?
Oh Thank you!!!
My theory is that
It's not a Theory anymore, Anon!!!! It's a Fact!!!!
Well, For Naruto.... Even in the recent chapter, He was seen sleeping while sitting next to Hinata.... Isn't it a proof that he was just bored as fuck around her??? [[Oh, this scene happens in a Night time]]
Tumblr media
Where is that Energetic and Vibrant Naruto we saw in Part 1 and Shippuden???
He just disappeared...
As for Sasuke, In the same chapter, during this Night time... rather than spending his time with his Family... He is over working..
Tumblr media
Why is it that even though they have nothing to do... Naruto looks tired and bored... Sasuke is seen overworking!!!!????
And Naruto loves his kids but they are a reminder he has made a mistake and can't do anything about it.
Maybe!!!! Probably that's why he adores Kawaki than his own son...
Sasuke on the other hand, leaves Konoha so much is because he doesn't want to see the person that he loves/cares about with someone else.
I think the reason is he just doesn't want anything to do with his own family.... I don’t think he feels that way about Naruto... Otherwise, he wouldn't act like a Momma Bear for Boruto.... Would he????

I really think Kishi didn't want Sasuke to end up with Sakura, but he was told to make them canon for the next gen series and then wrote Gaiden out of spite. Literally why would you make Sarada look like Karin and have a whole story revolve around who birthed Sasuke's child and why tell us that they haven't kissed (so Sasuke's only canon kiss is Naruto, he remembers the kiss when he almost dies, and he doesn't know it was an accident??).
He also makes it clear how uninterested Sasuke is in his own family... He sees his wife after many years for the first time and says "why are you here?" with a frown. Sarada meets up with him, he almost stabs her, they resolve that misunderstanding, she starts questioning him, he answers by saying it has nothing to do with her. He can't contact his family, but he can contact Naruto, meet up with Naruto, they even do that rival competition thing like Kakashi and Gai (why are you challenging each other for fun and keeping track of it when Sasuke's on an 'important mission' and Naruto doesn't leave work for his family lol), he also takes Boruto on as a student and constantly sees the image of Naruto as a genin superimposed on him.
He really tried his best to make Sakura look bad. After the war Sasuke apologises, thanks her and pokes her forehead... it seems like he's willing to be her friend and then in Gaiden he's cold but they're supposed to be married. Kishi made Sakura look pathetic, telling us she chased after him when she was pregnant (so Sasuke abandoned her again after she got knocked up?), she doesn't know anything about him, doesn't even know if he wore glasses when he was younger, Sarada asks if they're even married and then Sakura punches the ground and destroys her house, this is how Sarada finds out that Sakura put a picture of herself over Karin. Karin sends Sarada her glasses, keeps her umbilical cord and considers Sakura a friend but Sarada doesn't even know who Karin is...
Also Naruto and Sakura have no relationship anymore, they don't interact or banter even when they're in the same scenes. Sarada's first personal conversation with Naruto is when she follows him to see Sasuke, Naruto is the one who answers her questions and tells her about her father, she even wishes Naruto was her father (Boruto has a different experience lol) . It's really odd how Kishi showed us Naruto and Sakura aren't close anymore, but he interacts with every other Team 7 member. He's keeps in contact with Sasuke, Kakashi, Sai and even Yamato, why doesn't he talk to Sakura anymore?
Sorry for the rant... I guess I can see why people would assume SA, but I think it's more like Sakura kept pestering Sasuke, Sasuke was like "You want a child? You know I'm not returning to Konoha anytime soon", Sakura says "that's fine as long as we get married and I can have this piece of you", Sasuke just gives in to her and then either they have impersonal sex or Sasuke takes her to Orochimaru and they have a test tube baby. What's your theory?
i really want the opportunity to talk to kishimoto completely candid so that i can have him read this and give us his answers. like, was he forced to comphet the characters by outside sources, or did he really intend for all of this to happen and for it to be seen as a legitimate relationship?
i think you nailed it in that last paragraph. sakura pestered him, and sasuke either took pity or just wanted her to lay off of him.
another thing i’ve thought was that he could have been insecure, or was having a weak moment about being the last uchiha, and he went to sakura because he knew that she was more than willing to bear his child and figured her his best option. then he regretted it, and felt uncomfortable for having a child that wasn’t conceived out of love. if sarada was conceived naturally, i can’t see it would have happened unless sasuke was at a very low state with his mental health, and i imagine it was not romantic at all.
love the idea of him taking her to orochimaru like she was just a surrogate though lmaooooo

Why do you dislike Boruto? Just a curiousity.
For many reasons, anon.
Boruto sucks as an MC, hes boring and Stu-ish and has no charisma whatsoever.
The side characters of the next gen are no better, and are often just "Mini Mes" of their parents which is a complete and utter lack of creativity if Ive ever seen it.
There is no attempt AT ALL to make us give a damn about any character in the series who isnt named Boruto or Kawaki...No other character has been given any focus at all on their backstory, what their motivations are, what they do when Boruto isnt around...They never even get screen time unless Boruto is there licking their goddamn face in fact.
Characters from the previous series that we love are ENTIRELY ABANDONED or BLATANTLY ASSASSINATED character wise. We have YET TO SEE KAKASHI IN THE MANGA FOR INSTANCE. KAKASHI :/ One of the 4 main characters of the previous series and easily a crowd favorite. Naruto and Sasuke are utter garbage in this series and are AT THE BEST OF TIMES functional morons. Other characters like Gai or Lee or Gaara or Temari or Bee are also just never given anything to do ever and never show up. So Kishi/Kodachi are simultaniously trying to force us to be attached to the next gen by completely shelving the old...But then...Do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WITH THE NEXT GEN to make us give a damn about them or what they are doing...Amazing stuff.
Terrible consistency and scaling with in universe strength.
 Asspulls and retcons everywhere.
The villains. They are all just generic Saturday Cartoon villains. From the way it’s going, I sincerely doubt that Boruto’s villains will ever match the likes of Madara or the Akatsuki. On terms of personality, I’ve found that none of the Otsutsuki or the asspull cyborgs have been even nearly as enjoyable to watch. I mean, we knew that when someone came into contact with the Akatsuki that they were done (as long as they weren’t our protagonists with all their plot armor). Do you remember Pain’s Invasion with Kakashi and Jiraiya’s death? The amount of pure emotion and terror those moments held was unexplainable. When we saw Madara running to fight the entire Allied Shinobi Forces, we could see each of them trembling and praying for their lives. And by the point that Boruto is currently at, Naruto also had Orochimaru, who at one point was just about the scariest person in the show. I mean, seeing Kakashi shaking with fear in front of him, the very person who had defeated Zabuza (both he and Haku were also amazing), that just had a whole different effect. So far, none of Boruto’s antagonists have really gotten to us that much.
And to make things worse, every 2nd villain is somehow both simultaneously made into a Naruto/Sasuke level threat out of nowhere, but also able to be defeated by 12 year olds with incomplete and shitty versions of Naruto and Sasukes own abilities...Which completely and totally discredits everything Naruto and Sasuke (and other characters too) did to get as strong as they are and how they suffered to get to that point, and as I said, takes all tension out of the story.
Kurama died to nerf Naruto. A CHARACTER was killed off to nerf another character. No. Just no.
Ninja tech.  I don't know if it's just me but ninja tech has become a cheap plot coupon if not outright bad writing. Technology is becoming an excuse to put any power you want in the series and pretty much jeopardizes all established world building.  In a way, this just basically ruins the Ninja concept that we got from Naruto. I don’t think they were required to introduce this, I seriously don’t like it. The War Arc megazords are bad, but the scientific ninja tools are far worse.  It's true that ninja tech will make the tradititional Shinobi obsolete (meh) but there should be at least a decent framework on how it works instead of creating any BS power you feel like and labeling it as Ninja Tech. Chakra and Natural Energy were both largely explained and while they can do many extraordinary things they have limitations of Magic A is Magic A. Ninja tech is poorly explained and is pretty much Magic B without any known constraints which is already derrailing this series way too much. I want Kishi to give Ninja Tech limitations and a working logic but I don't have much hope for it.
I miss when Konoha would actually look like a village, and not a bad copy of New York city. I don't know, at this point i'm expecting a Ferrari or something after the time skip.
Honestly I dont understand what anyone actually enjoys about the series.  I'm beginning to wonder if Naruto fans and Boruto fans are completely different because of how easily they are accepting some of these nonsense plots.

I agree with Kishimoto never trying to use the girls. The hate they get is not fair. I used to defend Sakura back in the days because I hoped kishi would do her justice. When shippuden started I WAS SO HAPPY because I thought this was the start of something great for Sakura and the girls but NOOOOO. Every time, Sasuke showed kishi turned her brainless. If you compare Naruto's actions and Sakura's actions to sasuke, you'd see they're completely different. What's up with that weird fake love confession scene 😭? It makes her look like she was manipulating Naru. JEEZ.
Also he literally had badass Tenten and Temari with cool useful abilities and he didn't use them ?! TF ?! Thank god for modern authors who treat their characters with respect :)
okay2 you know how i am with these longass rants so click readmore and brace yourselves
The way I see it, Sakura's character development in shippuden was always one step forward, two steps back. She gets this really badass scene (like her fight with Sasori and those cool ass medical skills) but is then regressed back into a pining girl in love every time Sauce is on screen or Kishi just throws her in the background YET AGAIN.
I love Sakura's abilities actually. Her brute strength, intelligence, vast knowledge and skill as a medic nin. But what I dislike about her character is how kishi handled her feelings for Sasuke. Naruto and Sakura's obsession with Sasuke was so???? huh??? it was so damn toxic and i never once understood why both Nardo and Sak were so obsessed with him. They were a team for one year???? I mean its great that they care about him alot but Sauce's feelings were kinda valid. His freakin clan died. Id go batshit crazy against my own village too. BUT BESIDES THAT. Both Nart and Sakura's Sasuke obsession was so annoying. 80% of shippuden was literally Keeping up with the Uchihas or Naruto yelling SASUKEH. BUT what irks me so much is the fandom's double standards with both Naruto and Sakura. "Oh Sakura shouldve gotten over her Sasuke obsession" but then turn around and call Naruto's obsession cute and gush about how he's so in love with him!!
Hot take but the only reason why sasunaru is "the most developed ship with the most chemistry" is because theyre both male characters.
I guarantee you if Naruto was a girl and SHE would be the one to have this unhealthy obsession who was chasing around Sasuke, the fandom would shit on Naruto just as much. And if Sasuke were a girl, Sauce would be sidelined like the rest of the female cast and Naruto would have another male character to have a "brotherly bond" with, because thats the only bond Kishimoto is actually good at developing. Yey for male characters having all the screentime and cool assets <333
And about that confession scene, I get her intentions. I really do. I understand that she did that in order to bring him home and that she cares about him but honey, w-why?? Why lie to him about your feelings?? Supposed he DID believe her, then what? then what kishi???? huh??? Some of her fans point the blame on Sai or whatever but I personally dont see why that scene was at all necessary. Maybe to establish Naruto's feelings for her wasnt all that serious? or his maturity? idk man. That scene was such a clusterfuck.
In the end her development in The Last and in Boruto was immaculate. She had one of the best glow ups in the old gen and ironically enough, her character wasn't butchered in Boruto. She got badass scenes she was cheated from in shippuden. I also love how she's finally getting the spotlight she deserves. Unlike the other konoha 12 :,)))
Okay onto the next female character that Kishi completely wasted. My baby. My light. 🙈 AAAHHH HINATAA.
I DONT EVEN KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN OKAY2 DEEP BREATHS.
Let me just establish this real quick. Hinata's goal was to get stronger because of Naruto, her goal was never to be with Naruto. She wanted to become someone who is worthy enough to stand beside him, someone whom he can consider as an equal, as a partner. She NEVER once said "marrying Naruto-kun is my all time goal UwU" (if youre one of those weirdos who interpret her character that way, youre immediately invalid, go take a hike)
I personally dont have anything against their crushes but to the point of making their personalities revolve around these guys every time theyre onscreen is so fucking frustrating. And with the way he writes their dialogues is so.damn.cringey. Like that one scene in the war arc with Tsunade and Madara
"I mAy bE a WomAn but I aM nOt WeAAKKKK"
BAAHAHAAHHA WHAT?? Everyone else gets coolass monologues and one liners but thats the best you can come up with Kishi?????? Hilarious.
If im being honest. Hinata's character is actually kinda well written. Not well executed. Dear God no. But with the way he set her story, her personality, her chracterization. She's honestly one of the best written female characters on the show. IMO. By Kishi's standards of writing women ofc. She's hands down one of the most complex characters. Her shy personality wasnt out of the blue, it wasnt a cutesy waifu trait. Her abusive upbringing made her that way. Her trauma turned her that way. So yeah, sue her if she looked up to Naruto as an inspiration when everyone else in her family treated her like dust. Shit on her for having Naruto's love light in her dark when her own damn father wouldnt even look her in the eye and her entire clan shunned her because she was "weak." She doesnt owe her family shit so idgaf what they do with the Hyuga clan. Neji and Hanabi aren't included btw
Im not gonna deny that her role in the show was only as the love interest but tbh for a love interest, Im glad her character wasnt so one dimensional. It just pains me SO MUCHHH how fucking wasted she is. Every time she's with Naruto, they always make her into a damsel in distress. They always feel the need to turn Naruto into the heroic prince. How cute.
LIKE THAT ONE SCENE IN THE LAST WHERE SHE'S THROWN IN THE CAGE?? WHY??? LET NARUTO AND HINA FIGHT THAT FREAKING ALIEN GOD TOGETHER. QUIT WITH THE TOXIC MASCULINITY. WE GET IT. NARUTO'S STRONG. GOOD FOR HIM. NOW LETS SEE HINATA THROW HANDS AND PUT NARUTO IN THE CAGE GODAMMIT
Hnggggg dont get me started with her role in Boruto. She's as relevant as a damn houseplant in the manga. They made her into an invisible trophy wife and "the mc's mother" and we all KNOW what happens to the shounen mc's mother once mc is in need of character development :) Quit putting her in the background. Give us that scene where she won against Hanabi DESPITE being retired for years. Give us that scene where she trains Boruto. GIVE US ANY FIGHT SCENE OF HER WHERE HER POTENTIAL ISNT WASTED WTF?¿
Now if you say that Hinata didnt have development. YOURE INVALID. She came from an abusive household, the shyest girl in her class, her insecurities got in the way of her own confidence, had difficulty of standing up for herself now became a loving mother of two, has the guts to kick her husband out of the house(with whom she couldnt even keep eye contact with when she was a kid) became the strongest hyuga, most supportive wife and mother, and has given her kids the comforting childhood she never had as a kid.
She has one of the most beautiful stories in the show and if you think her personality is only Naruto-kun and big boobs, then im sorry that you cant appreciate such a heartwarming story.
And I agree, killing her would honestly make me feel more at ease than continue to see her suffer because of godawful misogynistic writers. But at least let her die in an epic fight. Please. PLEASEE. She got nerfed so bad, i feel a physical pain every time i think about it
Tumblr media
Okay what else. I think Ino got pretty good development. Another wasted potential in shippuden but she's doing good for herself in Boruto. I dont know what Temari is up to. They basically made her into another classic angry mom who beats up her husband for comedy trope. Haha very funny and original! Im not sure with her career, im not that invested in the anime.
Tenten??
oh G O D Tenten. The dirtiest of all. Her jokes about her screentime is so mean and i hate that its true ahsjhs. She was the only female character in OG who's goal wanted to be as strong as Tsunade but what did Kishi do to her?? Sidelined. Forgotten. Irrelevant. Like every damn female on the show :D
Konan shouldnt have died. I blame plot armor. I know in my heart that Konan wouldve kicked Obito's ass if it weren't for Kishi's boomer mindset.
Tsunade had so much hype when she was introduced but died down in the war arc. Madara wiped the floor with the kages. Holy shit. Not only that, but yipee! Naruto is there to save the day AGAIN!!!!
AND UGHHHH If the female characters were given proper treatment then maybe MAYBE all the endgame couples wouldve made fucking sense????¿¿¿
I think that ends my rant. Im not sure how the female characters in Boruto are handled. Except maybe Sarada (she's pretty well executed in the manga imo). But arguably they are sooo much better handled in Boruto than how the old gen girls were. And thats because Kishi isnt anywhere near the new gen female cast. I cant formulate a solid opinion with the other new gen female cast since im not entirely invested in the anime. Not ashamed to admit that I only watch it for the sunshine moments and for Hinata :DD

Why do NaruSaku fans still exist? Like, ur ship doesn’t exist anymore, move on.
They’re so biased that they even created the abomination Shinachiku.
They’re ruining all the canon NaruHina moments with NaruSaku and even created ugly ass kids. Probably got their mother’s uselessness genes.
I even saw people commenting that Shinachiku should’ve happened and that it’s better than Boruto.
They are just sore losers cause their ship sank. Also NaruSaku was basically brainwashed by anime filler.
Sakura fans as a whole have always been toxic and disliked so they just won't leave the fandom quietly. Doesn't help that so soon after Naruto ended Boruto started so a lot of them want to live their delusional ship through the next gen.

🔥 + 100yrquest
Oh jeez, legit did not see this in my inbox. *cracks knuckles* let's do this
So, 100yr is a sequel. To a long running series that spanned basically a decade. I don't trust sequels like that.
Sequels to movies? Sure i'll give those the benefit of the doubt because movies have time limitations so there's only so much world building and expansion that can be done in 1-3 hours so movies getting sequel movies or tv shows i'm less cautious about.
But a sequel to a series that spanned 10 or more years where the creator didn't even plan the original series to last that long and admitted that he had to make up some stuff for the latter part of the original series? Hmmm, i have my doubts on this.
When the series is long running and ends then comes with a sequel a lot of times thoses sequels are just for the sake of cash grabbing or milking the last bit of attention out of that series (A la Boruto to Naruto, DBS to DBZ, all the reboots to older cartoons).
And 100yr runs into that for me. Because not only does every new plot point it introduces doesn't make sense in the grand scheme of things, but it also begs the question of 'if this was so dangerous, notable and problematic in the series world then why wasn't it done in the original since you had an actual decade to put it in?'
It's simple. It wasn't relevant. Just a new thing put in for shock value.
For 11 years of the original run it was constantly went over that there were no more dragons. Dragons were gone. Donezo. No mas. We found the dragons our slayers were looking for and they died. Leaving Acnologia the only dragon left and with no more dragons to kill he turned his sights on the dragons slayers.
Actually no it turns out that Acnologia missed like 6 of them the next continent over. Wild.
And it so happens to be that one of those six dragons is Igneel's real son. Which was never brought up before because.....?
Oh and to make matters better apparently all dragons can assume a human form but Igneel and company never did that with their slayers because why exactly.......?
Ok then next introduced thing is that there's a white mage. Out of all the introduced things this one is slightly more believable than everything else there but like, i still find it hard to believe that there was another mage on the same power level as Zeref wandering around for 400yrs.
5th gen dragon slayers. Who get their powers from.....eating dragons....Riddle me this, id there is exactly 6 dragons left, exactly that number and they haven't killed any of those 6 then how did they get their powers? Also if Acnologia was so hell bent on killing dragon slayers too then how did he miss these guys too? There's only so much I can believe.
Fairy Nail just aggravated me because it's so silly. You mean to tell me that there is an exact replica of the guild thats basically edolas on earthland but not really and this was never brought up before? Yeah no, even if it was done for the sake of comedic value it breaks the world too much and creates more holes than necessary. (Honestly it would've made more sense for fairy nail to be a group of travelling actors using transformation magic to take the likeness of the guild members to bring attention to their acts but whatever).
Then even the good things that happen still bring about too many questions for me.
Lucy's fusion stardresses. I love the concept truly but like, we didn't even see the full power of all the original dresses.
The side guild members getting some spotlight which is lovely! I love the side characters! But when there was so many opportunities in the original series (literally at any point from Tartarus to the end of the series would've worked) it feels like a scrap thrown out at this point.
We're exploring more of earthland now! Dope! But uh, why didn't we do that before.
Then there's the overly comedic tone that permeates a lot of the serious moments that just makes it so difficult for me to take it seriously.
When the sequel started I was cautiously optimistic but truth be told, it lost my interest from the very first chapter once it said that dragons still existed. There's too many plot holes and inconsistency of characters (everyone feels so one dimensional) for me to handle and it comes off as very boring and uninteresting to me.
I am happy for Atsuo Ueada though. This looks like his first big project and the experience from drawing the sequel must be great for him.
