hi, person who lives in a socialist country here! you are so incorrect it's laughable, and you need to eat some real food so that you realise how terrible the taste of boot is.

we are one of the happiest countries in the world. our neighbours constantly compete on the #1 spot. now, i absolutely hate this place, but that's because of the people here, not the systems.

we have free school lunch for students up until high school, or they are 21 years old, whichever somes first. this includes a salad and main meal, with vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free/allergy-friendly options (you have to register for them, but they are free). there is also crisp bread with butter, fruit, milk and water. this is all free. costs $0, it's paid for by our taxes. it's literally not a problem. it's easy as fuck so i don't really know why we seem to be the only country in the world that does this.

schools bulk buy all their ingredients which means they make food way cheaper than you can at home. the main meal portion costs maybe $0.50 per child. how much do you spend on food per portion? (hint: anywhere between $1-5 depending on what you make).

heck, do you know what our biggest problem (surrounding school) is? it's people starting schools just to make money. people taking our tax money and spending it on sex clubs and holiday homes in thailand. and that's not the government's fault - it's the "business" owners.

you could say that socialism is working against the capitalist borgouise business owners.

Book recommendation

Leo Tolstoy, The Snowstorm 

Reading this book as June is coming to an end. Finished it the day prior to what would be this summer´s warmest day. Oslo is green, the air is heavy with heat- but with Tolstoy i´m almost freezing to death on my way from one ice cold Russian city to another. I read the book in a few hours, couldn´t stop once i started. The drama that plays out on the extensive, snow-covered areas in northern Russia was nothing less than exchilerating. The narrator, who is seemingly a borgouise man heads towards central Russia from the city of Novocherkassk in Caucasus with his driver Alyeshka a late winter-night. As they start their trip, the sky opens and an snow is falling down upon them with an unstoppable force.  the roads are quickly covered with thick, white snow. The horizon blends in with the pale black sky, the whole landscape becomes one. Our narrator is floating between death and life as the biting cold is slowly getting to him. Tolstoys natural descriptions are incredible, and the mood is captivating. I was not able to sleep before finishing this novella. Oslo has 24 degrees, but when I was reading I could almost feel a chill.
