Around this time of the year I can sometimes miss the town of Borås and its parks with huge rhododendron shrubs. I lived there between 2006 and 2009 and tried to study to become a librarian (I failed, suffered from depression, and had to see a therapist, but it was during that time that I started to realize that I was on the autism spectrum, AND got interested in Greek mythology again. So I still have fond memories of the town).

Hugo Löfving (July 7, 1918 - 1991) was a Swedish painter who trained at Valands Academy in Gothenburg and later taught in Borås. He made neo-Impressionist abstract landscapes, such as this one:

In Sweden people are forbidden from meeting eachother except for when dancing around the giant flower penis cross, and even then you are not allowed to speak normally we have to communicate through pretending to be frogs and foxes. In order to be allowed the privilege of taking part in this event you are forced to consume the slinkiest fish known to man, and those who can't handle it get shipped of to the Borås fish mines to get turned into stinky fish (all swedes are merpeople). As a result we mostly resort to communicating through leaving passive aggressive notes for our neighbors.

Art Weekend - Symbiosis Borås 2017 by Hannah Streefkerk

Using natural landscapes, Hannah Streefkerk expands on existing patches of mosses, lichens, and bark. Crocheted and embroidered work blends into the features of the landscape nearly seamlessly. In the Letter to My Dear exhibition, trees around Borås museum are the canvas and various types of yarn are used to reconnect torn bark, to restore natural features, and to preserve and protect them.
