Fresh LG G8 ThinQ renders show notched display, rear dual camera setup

Highlights: LG G8 ThiQ to come with notched display and dual rear cameras. It is said to have a ‘sound on display’ technology. LG may launch the phone on February 24 at MWC. A week after LG released a 13-second teaser for it next smartphone that will say goodbye to touch, a few images of a phone being called the LG G8 ThinQ have surfaced online. In an exclusive, XDA Developers says that the phone is the first LG flagship device of 2019. If the leak is true, the LG G8 could feature a display with a notch and thick bezels, along with a dual-camera setup on the back. Several smartphone manufacturers are now moving on to the punch-hole display and triple camera setup on their flagship devices. The latest leaked renders show that the LG G8 ThinQ has dual rear cameras that are horizontally aligned like the LG V40 ThinQ. There is no word on what sensors/lenses the phone will have, but reportedly, LG may skip the telephoto lens in favour of an ultra-wide lens. The renders also show an LED flash and a fingerprint sensor on the rear of the device, suggesting that there will not be an under-display fingerprint scanner. When you look at the front of the device, it sports curves around the edges. The volume rocker and the Google Assistant key are located on the left edge, and on the right side, there is the power button with the SIM card tray right below it. Previous renders showed that the LG G8 ThiQ has a 3.5mm headphone jack and single bottom-firing speaker at the bottom. Its predecessor had the DTS-certified BoomboxSpeaker technology for loud audio output. XDA Developers claim that when they zoomed the photo, they couldn’t find the earpiece. This could be possible because the previous leak mentioned that the LG G8 may be equipped with ‘sound on display’ technology that would allow it to relay audio through its screen. Reportedly, Ken Hong, Head of LG Electronics’ Global Corporate Communications has rejected the accuracy of these renders saying that these are “not real” and that the renders aren’t showing the G8 ThinQ. When it comes to the specifications of the LG G8, there are no solid reports which can confirm them but a previous report claimed that the phone could have a 6.1-inch display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. If the phone has the “Sound on Display” technology, then it is highly expected that the phone could have an OLED panel. LG is holding an event on February 24 at MWC and it is expected to unveil the phone at that event. LG Electronics India has today announced its latest flagship the LG G7+ ThinQ in India. The LG G7+ ThinQ is a device that comes with very unique features like a 1000nit Super Bright FullVision Display, IP68 rated dust and water resistance, BoomBoxSpeakers and Dual 16+16MP camera with Artificial Intelligence.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Advait Vaidya Mobile Business Head said, “LG has always been about innovation and new technologies. The G series received a great response last year with the launch of LG G6 and to further enhance the smartphone experience, we are proud to introduce LG G7+ThinQ  in India. Along with power-packed feature list, the smartphone is incorporated with Artificial Intelligence technology that increases the level of real-time engagement for customers.  With this addition to the G series range, we hope to continue to the momentum of providing our customers class-leading products.” While Mr. Ayyappan Rajagopal, Senior Director, Mobiles, Flipkart added, “We are delighted to launch the new LG G7+ ThinQ exclusively on Flipkart. We believe this product will redefine smartphones by enabling a completely new flagship experience to our customers. This product is a truly unique addition to our premium smartphones portfolio and will enable us to offer the widest selection to our customers in this segment.”

The LG G7+ ThinQ features a huge 6.1-inch QHD+ FullView Super Bright display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and brightness of up to 1,000 nits. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s current flagship chipset the Snapdragon 845, paired with 6GB of RAM. In terms of camera, on the back of the LG G7+ ThinQ, there is a dual camera setup consisting of 16-megapixel primary sensor with a f/1.9 aperture and 107° Field of View. There is also a 16-megapixel secondary sensor with a f/1.7 aperture, 71° Field of View. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel wide angle lens, f/1.9 aperture. AI-based features are there in the camera that offers 19 shooting modes and three preset effects. Google Lens is also integrated into the camera app to help users find information by pointing the camera at any object or text.

There is 128GB of onboard storage on the LG G7+ ThinQ, but there is also a microSD slot using which the memory can be expanded up to 2TB. In terms of connectivity, there is 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, USB Type-C, FM radio. There is a 3.5mm headphone jack as well. The phone runs Android 8.0 oreo out of the box and packs a 3000mAh battery.

The LG G7+ ThinQ also has Super Far-Field Voice Recognition and highly sensitive microphone to help the phone recognize voice commands from a distance of up to five meters. The LG G7+ ThinQ is equipped with DTS:X and Hi-Fi Quad DAC for incredibly rich sound, especially with high-impedance earphones. The LG G7+ThinQ will be available exclusively on Flipkart at Rs. 39,990, starting August 10, 2018.
