I think a lot about living a creative life and I think one of the biggest things you have to do is consume other creations (read EVERYTHING that catches your fancy, watch whatever you want, take in all the kinds of music, look at art)
and I love the emergence of web weaving as an art form on Tumblr and generally, using different forms of media to play off each other, to amplify and augment the message (like how someone described Taylor Swift's 5 stages of grief playlists linking her previous songs to new lyrics on TTPD)
and people have been doing this for ages - Tolkien is an obvious example, I also think Lucy Maud Montgomery is a good example because her (educated) characters are constantly quoting obscure texts I've never heard of that she was treating as common knowledge, but also obviously Shakespeare was adapting older tales and giving them his own spin, etc etc
and I haven't even mentioned how web weaving itself is a reference to the Odyssey
Basically nothing exists in a vacuum and we are all pointing at each other going SAME HAT! SAME FEELING! SAME VIBE!
and web weaving is maybe the meaning of life????
edit: forgot to make the point I started the post to make, which is that AhHa by Nate Ruess is fucking brilliant

Issue three of Juni Ba's The Boy Wonder! In this issue, Damian teams up with Red Robin, also known as Tim Drake.
I don't want to spoil this series since it's so new and very good so far. So, just a brief overview. After the events of the second issue, Bruce orders Tim to act as Damians chaperone. Damian has determined a likely hiding place for the demon. He wants to sneak in, but Tim convinces him to instead attend a gala being held in the same building.
Damian quickly sees through the glossy exteriors of the disgustingly rich and famous who are in attendance. Tim seems to fit in so well with them, Damian assumes him to be as corrupt and selfish as everyone else at the party. He was taught from a young age to question people who always seemed to have too much.
Damian decides to do things his own way, sneaking away from the party and traveling through the vents to try and find where the demon is hiding. And... You'll have to buy the book to find out what happens next! :)
But here are some complimentary Damians because he's so cute.

i mostly read books from the library, and i mostly use my library for ebooks and audiobooks, because with the libby app, the sheer convenience cannot be beat. but recently I've been checking out 1-2 physical books every couple weeks and it's been a goddamn delight! love borrowing a physical book. pages fun to turn. a tactile wonder. it'll probably never be my #1 method of reading, just bc of the aforementioned convenience, but i am having a great time with my little weekly book stack.

Could I use screenshots of your epic of gilgamesh video for a booktalk competition? I won't use anything else, just the drawings, because images are required. Thanks!
Sure! A citation would be appreciated

Book Review for Red Winter Trilogy by Annette Marie
The Red Winter trilogy is written by Annette Marie. if you like Inuyasha or Kamisama Kiss this is definitely a book for you. This is a story involves Japanese Mythology with slow burn romance mixed in.
The story is about a girl named Emi, and she was chosen to be a vessel for a goddess, but when she saves a kitsune name Shiro who ends up in her debt her world turns upside down. Her and Shiro go on an adventure for to search for answers.
I honestly love these books. I love the way this author wrote this book. There is so much character development that goes on, and the relationship between the characters is amazing as well. I will say these books really did make me cry in some areas, I definitely had to put it down a couple of times just to collect myself. Also, the art in these book is beautifully done throughout. It really gives a nice visual to the books. There is definitely more I could say about these books, but if I say too much more, I’ll probably end up spoiling things on accident and I definitely don’t want to do that for people who are interested in reading these books.

It's finally here!!! Death in the Family: Robin Lives written by J.M. DeMatteis, art by Rick Leonardi.
This issue starts with the joker being murdered and then works backward. All we know when it starts is that the Joker has been shot and that Batman was there when it happened. Then, the story rewinds back to an undisclosed amount of time before the joker is shot to show us how we ended up there.
We go on to learn about how Jason miraculously survived what happened in Ethiopia, but he is not coping. He's angry and lashes out at everyone. Bruce is trying to be understanding and offer his support, but Jason partially blames him for what happened and isn't willing to talk to him.
Besides, Bruce may be doing a better job of hiding his inner turmoil about what happened to Jason, but in truth he's not doing much better. He's questioning his previous stance that all criminals are redeemable and, at one point, seems ready to let the joker drown. But, Superman sweeps in to save him at the last second.
At the end of the first issue, Jason sneaks out of the manor after getting into a big fight with Bruce. He fights the Scarecrow alone and gets hit with fear toxin. Jason then experiences a horror nightmare about the joker and his bio mom. He's rescued by Batman, who beats Scarecrow so badly he has to be stopped by the police. Bruce gathers Jason in his arms, and we end on a single manly Batman tear.
So far, I'm really enjoying this title. This is the Batman I miss, a weirdo whose heart is in the right place but who is fundamentally a flawed person. I'm anxiously looking forward to the next issue! Definitely pick it up if you have a chance.

I find it hilarious when authors make a certain character the villain and do everything in their power to make the readers hate the character but majority of the readers continue to root for the character

New passion..
Yes.. I’ve finished “Six of Crows” and “Crooked kingdom” by Leigh Bardugo. I loved it and wonder about reading the other books she wrote about the Grisha verse..
BUT that have to wait, there is now a new obsession in progress… thanks to V. E. Schwab … I started to read “A darker shade of magic”, finished that one pretty fast, and have almost read all of “A gathering of shadows”.. and “A…
