My Book Struggles

My first book, Cerebral Palsy: A Story ‘Finding the Calm After the Storm’ was published here in the UK the day news broke about the Covid-19 pandemic. I remember my heart sank when I heard the news. The following days and weeks were followed by unimaginable uncertainty, unprecedented lockdowns, and worry about our safety, health and futures, with mental health taking a massive tumble.

My two follow on books 'Spirituality, Healing and Me' and 'Survival: The Covid Years - Time for Change’ have been published in the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis we are all now facing.

The pandemic started in 2019. Now 3 years in and there is still an element of struggle in all of us, with mental health still in decline. Times have changed and my struggles continue.

Also, as an independent author I rely on people's goodwill for support. I donate all royalties from my books to mental health charities across the globe and your support will be greatly appreciated, in these enormously difficult times.

Why Don’t They Believe Me?

Me: This book is great! I love it so much! IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!!!

Friend: Then please explain to me why you’re bawling your eyes out.

Me: SHE WASN”T SUPPOSED TO DIE! IT WAS PROBABLY A TYPO  OR SOMETHING. 

Friend: Are you crazy or something?

Me: Everyone tells me so, so I might as well be.

Finding forgotten books

Okay like. I CANNOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME, RECALL THE NAME OF THIS BOOK SERIES I READ AS A KID. Like I was probably maybe a tween or something, but like it was either this realistic fiction or historical fiction book series. And each book was about a different girl, (like these girls were entirely fake made up people) and it was about their like journeys and different encounters through like different events in history. Like one was about war, and how this one girl witnessed this like man or woman die from bombings and rubble and coughing into this bloody tissue. And like its so frustrating because I tried looking in my dads library checkout history but its from YEARS ago so I can’t view it. And I remember the books being in the kids section even though it wasn’t really kids kids, but it was how the library organized stuff. And it was my favourite series, and I’m pretty sure it had a very simple cover. And I don’t know if one of them was written off as like journal entries but honestly they were so captivating that I want to find them again but I can’t. THE BLOODY FRICKIN STRUGGLE UGH! Next time I go home I’m going to go to the library and see if they can look back at checkout history from the beginnof the card cause like I NEED TO FINDBTHIS SERIES AGAIN

My schedule has been insanely busy for over two months now so in finding it hard to find time just to sit and read...which is really frustrating and upsetting me. I've disappointed myself this year regarding reading unfortunately, and I'm very far behind on my goodreads 35 books in a year challenge. It's not been that much, I said I'd read thirty last year and did so I didn't want to be over ambitious with a crazy number so I said 35. Clearly it's been difficult to complete that! You got to be kidding me. I just jumped on the 'A Court of Thorns and Roses' bandwagon only to find out that there are 6 books to be in this series... SIX?! If I had known I never would have started it. Even though I like it so much. This is too much commitment.
