I love vinyl stickers.⁣ ⁣ This is the greatest understatement, because when I find a new material I like, I want to use it everywhere. I've had an itch to work on a Book Shop design for a little while — it's been on my wishlist of designs for forever — but I guess I was holding back on actually designing something because I didn't have a great way to translate it into the format I wanted. ⁣ ⁣ Enter: the awesome matte vinyl laminate that has a silky texture and protects my sticker prints and can handle a splash of water. ⁣ ⁣ So, then I guess I got a little carried away? I have nine designs for shops from a Little Town, all inspired by fanfic AU settings. Okay- so I was book shopping, as you do.

and I was looking at the book “They both die at the end” by Adam Silvera.

and a guy who works there, comes over to me(he’s about 17) and touches my elbow and goes “we actually have the special edition hard over over here, for only two more dollars, would you like it?” And me being me, I go “OH MY GOD YES!!” And he grabs it for me, and he gives me a few other books he likes.

after I got a few other books, I went to pay and GUESS WHO WAS THERE?? Him. He was. We were talking as he scanned mg books and he goes “you’ll have to come back so I can hear your thoughts on them and I can give you more recommendations!” and I didn’t have the heart to tell him I live in a country town an hour away, but told him I’d come back some day :)

新刊、古書店、ブックカフェの垣根を越えて「わざわざ行きたい」をテーマに編まれたガイド本『東京 わざわざ行きたい街の本屋さん』が発売されました。この本、そして今回のイベントのテーマは「本屋と街」です。

本屋B&Bのある下北沢にも多くの「わざわざ行きたい」本屋があり本書でも多くのページが割かれていますが、この街には本屋以外にもカフェや古着屋、珈琲店、小劇場、ライブハウスなどたくさんの魅力的な空間があります。

音楽の街、演劇の街など様々な顔を持つ下北沢という街が「本屋」というフィルターを通したときどのように見えるのか。

今回お呼びするのは以下の方々です。

1人目は下北沢に20年お住まいの編集者・仲俣暁生さん。長く住まわれているからこそ見えてくる下北沢の本屋の変遷、街の変遷についてお話しいただきます。

2人目はクラリスブックスの店主・高松徳雄さん。2013年にクラリスブックスを開く前は神保町の古書店で働いていたという高松さん。世界的な本の街・神保町と、ここ4,5年で本屋が増え本の街になりつつある下北沢がどのように違うのか。また、なぜ下北沢で開店しようと思ったのかをお聞きします。

3人目は本書の著者であり、本屋めぐりサイト「BOOKSHOPLOVER」を運営される和氣正幸さん。全国の本屋を回ってきた和氣さんに、本書の取材でのエピソードを交え、街と本屋についてお二人の話を引き出していただきます。

それぞれの立場から語る下北沢という街の話。

聞く事で下北沢での本屋めぐりをより深く楽しむことが出来るようになるでしょう。
