First Call, Sims 4 Infants Patch is Coming Soon!!

It's almost time, the Infants are Coming!! Before the patch on March 14 breaks mods and custom content in preparation for the March 16 Sims 4 Growing Together expansion pack, I thought I'd run through a few things you'll need to know about, ahead of time.
When you load up after the patch, Mods and CC are going to be disabled by EA. This is fine, we're expecting a lot of things to break, and this time, it most likely will include MCCC.
We on Deaderpool's Discord recommend taking all of your mods/cc OUT, not leaving them sitting "turned off" (disabled) in your Mods folder. There's no guarantee the game can't see them anyway, so for the cleanest test, we always say to move the files out into a folder on the Desktop. You need this "game only" benchmark to see how things are supposed to behave, or to see if what isn't working properly is a problem in the game code, itself. 
Most of the time, we would actually recommend a "mc-vanilla" test, which means to ONLY leave MCCC in your mods folder... but in the case of a Big Patch, until Deaderpool has a chance to evaluate (and hotfix) MCCC for code changes that might cause the mod to give you unexpected issues in game, "true vanilla" (mod/cc free) would be where to start testing.
By the way, if you need help getting your files organized ahead of the patch, you can find a downloadable Mods folder template here, courtesy of Shino Nox.
Without benefit of MCCC's mc_lastexception.html error file to help dig for errors, once you have your game-only test run completed, the next thing to do would be a 50/50. Make a copy of your save file, to safeguard against accidentally saving while your mods and cc are not in the game. (Don't worry, if you DO happen to save your main file this way, just come right away and ask us on Discord how to recover from it.)
One tip we've learned over the years is that you might be able to rule out entire sections of files with two basic tests: 
One test with all of your cc & no mods (except MCCC, as long as it's working properly)
One test with all of your script/game-changing mods, and none of your extra custom content. (You would need to keep all of a mod's pieces together, both ts4script and package files.)
If either test results in any kind of error, you'll need to drill down through those files with the 50/50 technique, to find what's broken.
Luth's forum posts and Scarlet's mod list are both excellent resources. You may notice I'm not linking to any specific forum post. The reason is, Luth/luthienrising starts new patch threads in the section I did link, as needed. You'll be able to spot it once she has created it.
Last month, our team on Discord celebrated our sixth anniversary of helping players.  Don't panic once the patch is live, just swing by and see us for help.  If you can't get in, because you've been banned for some reason, our appeal process is outlined here. 
Most questions you might have are probably answered in the #server-info channel. PLEASE read it, before approaching us in support. It will make everything easier, for both of us.

My robot game!!
Scrapped was originally something I made for some art history kinda class (not the game history class, but we did look at games and other media in it. But was the same teacher as the game history. She’s a prick)
The final project was to make just. Anything based on one of the topics we discussed in class. So I decided to make a loose game concept based around general overconsumption, and the weird need in capitalism to constantly buy the newest products that normally lose their quality and break faster an faster.
So for the first concept sketches made, two versions of the same robot were made, the boxy lookin thing that’s got an assortment of mixed parts. Then the sleek round robot, with all the uniform parts you’d expect to see on every other version of its model. Think Wall-e and Eve The "box robots", B0N-1X // B0N-X1 [Bonix // Bonxi]

The idea was that the player would be offered two paths of either scrambling around for loose scrap they’d find in the environment or would get by breaking down the glunk bots (small npc bots), and trading the scrap in for cash in order to buy whichever upgrades needed when a part broke.
Or to take the path where the player can level up their skills and learn to just fix themselves when damaged, being able to level up through fixing up the same glunk bots that you could destroy for a quick coin.

(I ended up just making an essay for that history class, cause as I said the teacher was a prick and I just wanted a decent grade then making another game I actively enjoyed and worked hard on just to get another C on. Still bitter about that)
The only other character in that original group of sketches was Veldrin, who was just “the shopkeeper robot who teaches the player how to fix things” for the longest time. (Wanted to make big ol burly robot with the animated dad moustache) I also gave him a cat cause it’s kinda fun to have this big gruff ol guy and to give them the tinniest lil pet. As said, the cats name is Rob, and Veldri n named the shop after her (Robo n Robs Bits n Bobs). Hes honestly the character I’ve developed the most out of everyone.

that's most of the beginning stuff I made for this game. I've since developed more characters and story behind them. Gave Bonix a proper reason to their character, and why you're able to upgrade them as easily as you can as the player.
Largely because of how my classes were structured last year, a good chunk of recent development was focused on the environment of the game and more with world building. [most of my classes were environment illustration, this year is character design though, so we'll see what happens.]
took my time to reaspond to this, but it lined up with being posted for robot week! and I call that a win.

Another new skull you say? Well check this one out!
Its a Great Skua!
Unfortunately these took a pretty hard hit in the early stages of Avian Flu presumably from feeding on the carcasses of already deceased birds.
This one came from Scotland, where most of the breeding population resides and they are a fantastic bird! Theyre also known as Bonxie which is thought to be due to thier size and stature. According to Wikipedia they can be compared to Buzzards which isnt much of a surprise given that they are around Herring Gull size, especially since they have impressive white wing markings.
They're bold and brassy and apparently pretty intense, dive bombing anyone who dares to get too close to nests and willingly harasses other birds to steal thier meals. They will eat just about any meat going, lets not forget they're a predatory species so feed on other birds too. Including the unusual feeding on Leach's Petrels at night on St Kilda.
These birds over winter in northwest African and southern Europe. I wonder how many survived to make it there, and how many will make it back.

MC Command Center 2024.4.1 is out!
The latest public release, MCCC/MC Woohoo 2024.4.1, is out! MCCC 2024.4.1 contains a small fix for MCCC 2024.4.0. If a player had a Sim living in an apartment and clicked the mailbox to view billing information, they'd get an error if they were using MCCC Money settings to change billing. That's the only change between 2024.4.0 and 2024.4.1.

Last Call for Infants Patch Prep!!

Tomorrow is the day most of us have been waiting for, the patch to prepare Sims 4 for INFANTS!!! It promises to be busy on support Discords, so I thought I'd start off with a few essential things you should know about getting help from Deaderpool's server.
First of all, READ our #server-info channel!!! There is a lot of information there that will streamline your experience with us. We always know who doesn't bother to read it, by the questions we see in support. We're going to be getting slammed by people with broken mods/cc, please do your part to make things easier on everyone involved, on any server you visit.
Pay close attention to the types of mods/cc/creators who may very well get you banned. Don't bring them to our server.
The people manning support channels are volunteers. Don't be an ass. We're not getting paid to help you, and we don't have to put up with rudeness, disrespect, trolling, and so on. We have no issue with banning people who can't behave properly on Deaderpool's discord. Don't try us.
Don't post the same thing in multiple channels, and don't post the same thing on multiple servers simultaneously. If you don't use two lanes at once in a brick and mortar store, why would you try doing it online? It's confusing and not efficient for anyone trying to work with you. The exceptions would be, if staff refers you elsewhere, to either a different channel, or to a separate discord server, in order to better address your issues. Otherwise, pick one channel on one server, and stay there.
BE PATIENT. Expansion patches are legendary for being super-busy. We'll do our best to get to everyone as soon as possible. There's no need to bump your post, or poke us, unless it's obvious your post has been skipped, after a few minutes/posts around yours are being handled. We're human, stuff happens. Don't get angry about it, just remind us, and we'll move forward from there.
If you're a long-time player, please watch out for the new players, if this is someone's first patch, they're likely to be pretty shocked at the damage. If you speak more than one language, we'd LOVE to add you to our group of Interpreters helping in #bilingual-support. If you're familiar with our server's layout, please help new people find their way around. 
Please do not pester creators for information. They're all aware this patch is likely to break things, and they would rather spend their time updating their mods and cc for us, than having to respond to tons of "your stuff broke!" posts on their pages. Don't be that person, just keep an eye on the various #mods-news type channels, Scarlet's list, Luth's forum post, and so on. 
This is not our first rodeo, you can trust us to help get you through the damage and back into your game, in the most painless way we can manage.
If we all can work together, we can minimize patch fallout in many ways. Bring a positive attitude, and your popcorn, and get ready to see the show... it's going to be a rocking week!

Tresta, Fetlar
Sunday 23rd July
The ferry over to Fetlar takes half an hour. They run twice a day from Unst, and also from Yell at this time of year. There was one other car on the boat I was on, a family going over just for the day. With a big smile, the ferryman came over to collect the money, but with a big smile on his face, as the news he had for me, was that his ticket machine was not working, and therefore he couldn’t charge me. He was from Kendal originally, and another ferryman who has plans to convert a van to a camper, so keen for a look around mine.
I had researched Fetlar island, the main road from west to east is about 10 miles, to get an idea of its size. Before getting to the beach, I toured the island quickly, to see if there was anywhere else, similarly attractive, to stay. The island’s population is 67, the lady in the shop told me, and was 68 last Thursday. Sadly there had been a death, and with an ageing population it might be a while until this population trend is reversed. Very few are Shetlanders from, just 5. The rest have moved up from England. Parked up at Tresta beach I met a few of the local people during the day, all very friendly.

Tresta Beach is a fine place to be based, and I expect I will be here for a few days. There are no other campervans on the island, indeed few other visitors.

Later in the afternoon on the beach I met the couple from Durham who were hiking the Shetland coastline, that I had met previously at Sandwick a couple of weeks ago. They had endured some tough days with weather, and also parts of the coast, like Fetlar, where generally there isn’t a path, and the wild moorland is boggy and deep in heather.

A yacht had come into the bay late on Saturday night, and on Sunday morning it was followed by several of the Tall Ships, on their way from Baltasound on Saturday evening, to Cullivoe on Monday. They just wanted somewhere calm to relax on a sunny Sunday. I had set off to walk onto the peninsula of Lamb Hoga earlier, and was on the cliffs returning when they sailed into the bay. Though there was a track for the first half of the 3 miles or so, the second half is wet and deep in Heather, very slow going. It is also home to quite a few Great Skua’s, or Bonxies, and it wasn’t long before Roja and I were again being dive-bombed. This time Roja did get offended at how close they came. It seems he recognises them now, and has worked out he is safest by being very close to my right leg. Less good for me though.

Back on the beach I got chatting to a Finnish guy from the Swan, the first Tall Ship into the bay. He was a business lawyer in Turku. During the afternoon most of the crew came to shore to swim, share a drink, or just chat and chill out. Their presence attracted a few locals down also, and the place which is normally so quiet, was relatively busy.. well, ten or twenty people around.
Books wise, I haven’t reported for a while. The highlights of my reading in the last week or so have been a second English translation, from Finnish, by Rosa Liksom called The Colonel’s Wife. She writes about the Second World War, her first book, Compartment Number Six, set on a Trans-Siberian train, and was adapted recently for a film, but her second is even better.

Also, the Argentinian author, César Aira’s new book, Fulgentius. This is a jaunt into ancient history, as he writes about an aging Roman general, tempted out of retirement back to the battlefield. He just happens to be a playwright with a cult following. At the age of 12 he wrote a tragedy that anticipated his own future. He resolves to put on a presentation of his new production in each new territory he conquers, with the actors from his armies. Of course he takes some criticism, but at his stage of life he has developed a skin thick enough not to be concerned. Aira is wonderful, and this is no exception.

‘The island is only a mile and a half long. It has one fertile hill, and two flat near-barren peninsulas, one pointing north, one southwest, like two mismatching wings. There are no beaches, all is cliff, swooping now high, now low, and cut with many geos. The sea prowled into every geo; by night its sound seemed muted, though now and then the breeze brought whoops of seal-song. Clouds were gathering, but that was good, Stuart said: the darker, the better.

We walked westward up a slight rise, which at its crest gave views down a long slope to the ragged peninsula called Sceapull, which soon surrendered to the waves. A dusty, antique sort of light lay over the islands; the sea was the colour of tarnished silver. The path led across a hillside, then through a gap in an earthen dyke. At once, within the dyke, the land began to rise and fall in ridges, like those of a vast scallop shell, waist-high ridges between shallow-filled troughs, all with a pelt of long grass that shivered in the wind. The ridges curved downhill toward the sea. Hundreds of years ago oats of barley would have been raised on them, but now, long overgrown, they had become sculptural, land art. 
We passed through that strange estate, then arrived at the shell of St Ronan’s chapel. Just four stone walls, all speckled with lichen, a low doorway, no roof at all. It faced the southern sea, and between the chapel and the cliffs a quarter-mile away were ovals and pockets of darkness, half dug into the eath, and bound by overgrown turf walls - all that remained of the village. Beyond that, beat of the waves. This was what we’d come for, something faraway and special, so we settled ourselves against the chapel wall to wait. [...]

You have to go a long way to find a breeding colony of Leach’s fork-tailed petrels; to a handful of the farthermost islands, St Kilda, the Flannans, and here, Rona, where on summer nights they make the quick dash ashore. Mate calls to mate, dit-dit diidle-dit!, rival pursues rival, one partner creeps back into his burrow-nest, allowing the other to be off on her small black wings, far out to sea. 
The call, to our human ears, sounded like laughter. At the darkest hour, the walls, like a hive, were busy with birds. They’re small as swifts, but their challenge isn’t the ocean storms, it’s the short race ashore. Great skuas - bonxies - prey on them, god knows how, hence their dash by moonlight - except they prefer no moon. They prefer the darkest of summer nights. [...]

Nothing is known of St Ronan but his name, which, oddly, means ‘little seal’ - as if he’d been a Rona selkie who’d swopped his sealskin for the habit of a monk. Doubtless he was one of the early Scots-Irish monks, who sailed from his monastery to seek ‘a desert place in the sea’, where he could live a life of austerity and prayer. Hundreds of years later, the people built the chapel in his name, and buried their dead beside it. Now those people are gone, too, and their graveyard is a poignant place. [...]
St Ronan rode to Rona on the back of a seamonster, so the legend says. Monster or boat, he’d have jumped ashore giving prayers of thanks, sometime in the eighth century. [...]

But we know what the saint sought, because on faraway Rona there survives something unique. A tiny building. To enter, you must first enter the chapel. Then, low on the eastern gable is another doorway, just a square of darkness with a lintel of white quartz, as though it were Neolithic. You have to crawl, but once inside you can stand freely. At first it seems wholly dark, and it smells of damp earth, but as your eyes adjust, stars of daylight begin to spangle here and there overhead, where, over the many centuries, the stones have slipped a little - so after a while it’s like being in a wild planetarium. 
Darkness, eath - and a sudden quiet; no wind or surf - you find yourself in a place from which all the distracting world is banned. Then you see the stonework. The little oratory is beautifully made, and has stood for 1200 years. A low stone altar stands against the east wall. So there is one thing we know of the saint - he had a feel for stone; strong hands. Or someone did. Having sailed here and claimed this island of sea-light and sky and seals and crying birds, he built himself a world-denying cell.

[...] I crept into the oratory, and waited till my eyes adjusted to the low light. I went warily, because a fulmar had made her nest in a corner; too close and she’d spit. A fulmar guarded the saint’s cell, and it was strange to think there were Leach’s petrels secreted in the walls. Seabirds, named for St Peter, who walked on water, had colonised a cell built by a saint named for a seal.
I crept in just to wonder what he did in there, Ronan; to imagine him right there, in front of the altar, wrapped in darkness, rapt in prayer, closed off from the sensory world, the better to connect with... what?’
